Herbology Lesson One
It was such a nice day outside, the weather was mild, not quite warm but not cold either. Just the way Seren liked it. Unfortunately the lesson wasn’t being held outdoors, no, it was being held in Greenhouse One, where the air was cooler, and the smell of damp soil filled the air.
As you enter the greenhouse the first thing you notice are the stools arranged to the side of the greenhouse by the door, and directly opposite these are stools of a different variety. That’s right, toadstools! While they may look harmless from a distance it’s not wise to get too close to them just yet, after all you wouldn’t want to be sent to the Hospital Wing before the lesson has even started.
Waiting patiently for the students to arrive, Professor Bentley stood by the door to welcome them as they entered; Though she was careful to position herself near the seating area so that she can keep an eye on any mischief making. Standing slightly to the side of the toadstools, was Professor Bentley’s old blackboard, neat and tidy cursive writing slowly appearing on its surface- as if by magic!

First biting toadstools, now pixies?! Why on earth did she come to Herbology if not to be killed or seriously injured?!
She pulled her gloves on tight again and stood up with everyone else, ready to face the pixies. She hoped she remembered the freezing spell. Otherwise she was in deep trouble.
She walked towards her first toadstool, wand pointed already. No pixies were in sight though. Relaxing a bit she picked up the toadstool and twisted it's top off. Well that was easier than expected! She'd just let her guard down when a pixie came shooting at her, clearly angry at her for taking the toadstool. "AH! IMMOBULUS!" she shouted, mabye a bit to loudly, pointing her wand at it. It froze in it's tracks. Merlin, they were scary when angry.

Pixies? They were going to be dealing with pixies in herbology? Ariella sighed and looked down at her caps. Pixies were like little demons. One time her older sister played a joke on her and put pixies in her room. It wasn't the best experience.
She scanned her brain for the stunning charm. It was something that started with an -im sound. Not wanting to make any mistakes, she turned to the students next to her. "Um, excuse me, but can someone hep me out? I don't really know the incantation for stunning the pixies," she asked, slightly embarrassed that she didn't know the spell.

Were they not taught at home for this kind of spells ? Beezus approached the girl. "The incantation for the Stunning Spell is Stupefy." she said. "And it's not only for pixies." she added. "Here, let me show you." She quickly looked around for a target pixie. And spotted. "Stupefy." she muttered , her wand pointed at the Pixie and a light emerged from it. The pixie froze at that spot .

Emily had just dropped her first cap into the box when she noticed the younger student asking for help. She wasn't much older, but she knew the spell. "Sure. Try Immobulus to freeze them or Stupefy to stun them." she smiled, then to demonstrate pointed her wand at a nearby pixie "Immobulus!" and the pixie froze where it was. "Glad I could be of help!" | |

Daphne couldn't help but scream when a pixie landed on her shoulder.
"Yoouuuuuuuu.." She pushed it off with her gloved hand as she made her way towards the toadstools again.
She twisted off the cap of the toadstool for the third time when a pixie landed on her head again. Ugh. She swatted it off but it came flying back towards her. "Whats your problem?" Daphne yelled as she pointed her wand at the creature.
Daphne deposited the cap in the box. Yay! It's ove---
"Aaaaaaggghhhhh!" Daphne yelled when a pixie came zooming towards her. She ducked but it came flying back towards her. "You're annoying." She waved her wand at it and it stopped.
Phew. Daphne was tired. But..she'd done it. Awesome.

What's that pulling her hair? Blimey! One pixie escaped. The thing keeps on pulling her hair. Quickly, Aiden snatches that creature and pins it on the table before it starts flying again. "Petrificus Totalus!" she commands immediately with a cold voice.
Now the pests are temporarily gone, she could get her job done. She holds the cap of the toadstool firmly before twisting it off. Two more to go.

Stupefy !" she exclaimed, pointing her wand at another pixie, "And this, Immobulus !" and the pixies began to shake and fall to the ground.[/QUOTE]
She saw a hufflepuff girl was confused. Then Raven came to her.
"The easiest charm that you can use is like this. IMMOBULUS!" Then the pixies were petrified.
Rose beamed at all the nice and helpful students. "Thank you all so much for your help" she said. Ok now she knew it was her turn to see if she could do it. They showed her everything she needed to know. | |

Very grateful for her classmates that were so helpful she returned her focus back to her toadstool before anymore pixies got a funny idea. She gripped firmly and successfully twisted off the cap and placed into the cardboard box the professor had proved. This is definitly going to be a hard assignment she thought. | |

Elise screamed as a pixie landed on her head. No not her hair! Ellie didn't come for Herbology to be severely injured or anything! Gah, stupid pixie!
MY HAIR! "Could anyone teach me the freezing -OW!- charm?" she asked, wrestling with the pixie that was attacking her hair. "GERROFF ME!"
Overhearing one of the seniors casting the spell, she yelled "Stupefy!", pointing her wand at the pixie.
When the pixie stopped its relentless tugging, she walked towards a toadstool, grabbed it and screwed off its cap.
One down, Two to go!

More prepared this time Rose was ready to harvest the second cap. A pixie started buzzing around her head. "Ugh" she muttered out loud. she just couldn't get a break from the pixies. Next thing she knew another pixie came and starting pulling on her ears and poking her in her back. Annoying creatures pixies are she thought. This time she thought she would try her hand at another spell. she pointed her wand at the pixie and said "Stupefy!" oh no she thought she missed the pixie. This only seemed to irritate the other pixies. Not wanting to miss again she lined her wand up again and shouted
"Stupefy"
this time it made contact and the pixies were no longer a problem. She quickly grabbed the toadstool and twisted yet another cap off successfully. "Whew" she said. Only one more left and then maybe my heartrate will slow down. | |

Wasting not another minute Indya started again towards to toadstools. One good thing about being shy and staying in the background was she was able to learn from the older students. Retrieving her wand from inside her robes, she kept an eye out for those pesky pixies. She was ready for them this time!
There, tucked away in the corner, a lone 'stool stood. She made a grab for it. A sound behind her made her spin around. She was face to face with a pixie. Great!! Ignoring it and turning back to the toadstool, Indya twisted it away. Suddenly the pixie was trying to wrestle it away from her hand.
"STUPEFY!" she yelled, her wand aimed directly at the annoying creature. Her spell had failed. "STUPEFY! STUPEFY! STUPEFY!" she tried stunning it again and again. It wasn't working!!
She thought back to earlier, when she had just stood at the back and watched everyone else. What was that spell some of them had used again? Immo-something? Immobulus!!
"IMMOBULUS!" she gave it a try. "YEEEEEEEEES!" she shrieked as it worked and the pixie froze.
Prising the frozen pixie off the little cap, Indya placed it in the box with the other two she had collected. There, she had done it. She breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat away from her forehead.

Freya never knew that they have pixies here but then again its Hogwarts. She was not supposed to be surprised by this. She gripped her wand in case that pixies decided to 'play' with her. She walked slowly towards the first toadstool, she looked around. No pixie. Good. She held it by the top and twisted it's top off. Hah! Its really easy like taking a candy from a baby! But then when she was about to turned around and walked back towards her work space, some of the pixies come towards her and pulled her hair. "Get Off You! Stupefy!" One pixie down. "Stupefy!" and there's another one.

Jesifur shook off the first experience and replayed it in her head. She told herself to calm down and fully commit her thoughts to the spell as opposed to worrying about the pixies. Remember Immobulus, Stupefy...
She regained her composure and once again walked towards the pixies. Taking a deep breath and standing her ground she aimed her wand. "Stupefy," she shouted at the one in front of her, changing direction and spells she shouted, "Immobulus," she aimed her wand at the next pixie. Both pixies stopped. Again she quickly grabbed the nearest toadstool and set about twisting the cap.
Suddenly there was another pixie flying right for her, she flicked her wand and yelped, "ahh, Stupify, Supefy, STUPEFY!" Finally the third time it worked. She ran over to the cardboard box and dropped the cap in shaking. The second one was much harder she thought.

Mickey started searching for a spot that wasn't completely covered by students or pixies, she figured it would be very unlikely to actually have that come around, and then she spotted one. She almost completely missed it but she smelt what she thought was a sickeningly sweet scent that came from the mushroom and followed her nose. Looking around for pixies she delicately harvested the first mushroom. "One down..." Hearing the twittering of a possible pixie she left in a hurry away from the spot.

Bloody hell...
Lana frowned. First biting toadstools. NOW pixies?! Sure, she had more fun that she thought she would have pulling out the fangs. But pixies? She just didn't like the sound of that.
Lana got closer so she can start harvesting her first cap. She saw that a pixie was getting close to her. Okay, she thought as she pulled her wand out, I need to stun or freeze it...
Then it dawned on her. She hadn't learned either charm yet...
The pixie pulled on her robe and before she knew it, she was in the air.
As calmly as she could, which wasn't very calm, she said, "Uhh.. a little help please?!"

Pixies? How come Auggie was having to meet all of these creatures when they were NOT happy?! First the House elves and now Pixies. August took out his wand and began to breath deeply, looking around the Greenhouse for the Pixie that would probably gnaw his face off.
Then he heard some shouts and many spells being shot off from the students around him and he saw the streaks of color that were not the spells but....the pixies.
Auggie rushed forward to the closest Toadstool and grabbed the top, twisting it loose. "Got one!" he said excitedly. Before he could put it in a basket, a Pixie zoomed down and with it's tiny little hands grabbed the plant and began to pull it away from the third year. August let go and then pointed his wand at the creature and shouted. "Petrificus Totalus!" The spell hit and then the pixies and the toadstool landed in his out-reached basket. Gingerly, the Gryffindor picked the pixie up with his fingers and set it on the ground. Now to the next Toadstool.

Ok last one Rose thought excitedly to herself. She was getting much better at her spells and more importantly she was getting much better at believing in herself. Bring it on pixies, I'm ready she thought to herself...or so she thought. Better not to get too over confident afterall she has only managed to stun two pixies and she did miss on the first try. Getting her thoughts back on topic she began her task again. The pixies were causing discord all around her.
Thinking to herself that it would be nice if she were able to get the last cap without interference from the pixies. Yeah right, that's likely. As if on cue here came another pixie that looked like it was on a mission. It aimed straight for her and started pulling her hair. Ugh, not my hair she thought it will take forever to get knots out of it. She pointed her wand at the pixie and decided to try the stupefy charm again to see if she could get it right the first time. "Stupefy" she shouted and to her amazement the spell took. Taking advantage of the break she twisted off the third cap and deposited it into cardboard box. She was finally done with the task. She went and sat back at her stool and watched the rest of the class finish the task. | |

Hugo just stood there watching the scene for a while, then he realized she'd asked for help. Right. "Immobulus!" he yelled and the pixie froze in mid air. Thankfully, she wasn't high up so her fall wouldn't be hard. But he had no idea how to cast that Aresto Momentum spell, soo... Yeah.

Right, time for another toadstool! Joy!
She took a moment to watch other student's to see if they needed help, but evryone seemed to be doing fine. Causiously she gradded another toadstool. So far so good...
Then she felt something tugging on her hair. She dropped the toadstool and and gave out a yell of pain. THERE WAS TWO OF THEM! Pulling her hair! "AH! Immobulus! Stupefy!" She hit one square in the chest. Quickly she spinned around and pulled her hair from the pixie's grasp. "Immobulus!" Hahaha. Lesson learned pixie: Do NOT touch Emily's hair.
She picked up the toadstool again and twisted it's top of. Two down, one to go!
