It was such a nice day outside, the weather was mild, not quite warm but not cold either. Just the way Seren liked it. Unfortunately the lesson wasn’t being held outdoors, no, it was being held in Greenhouse One, where the air was cooler, and the smell of damp soil filled the air.
As you enter the greenhouse the first thing you notice are the stools arranged to the side of the greenhouse by the door, and directly opposite these are stools of a different variety. That’s right, toadstools! While they may look harmless from a distance it’s not wise to get too close to them just yet, after all you wouldn’t want to be sent to the Hospital Wing before the lesson has even started.
Waiting patiently for the students to arrive, Professor Bentley stood by the door to welcome them as they entered; Though she was careful to position herself near the seating area so that she can keep an eye on any mischief making. Standing slightly to the side of the toadstools, was Professor Bentley’s old blackboard, neat and tidy cursive writing slowly appearing on its surface- as if by magic!

Amused at what she'd done to the toadstool, Sierra watched the fungus for a few extra seconds. It was still trying so desperately to move, yet its movements were so slow and not coordinated at all. Alright, so what next? Harvesting the fangs. Right.
She placed the palm of her hand on the top of the toadstool, gripping it firmly so that the fungus couldn't get away. She couldn't exactly yank out its fangs if it was falling all over the work area, now could she? She eyed the toadstool. If this thing but her, she'd kick out 'til it landed in the lake. Or not... She eyed Bentley. She'd think about it, though!
Hmm. Was she grasping too tightly? She didn't think so...
She gripped the fang and then moved swiftly in a downward direction. Once it was in her hand, she stared at it like it was some foreign object. Well, one down, one to go.

Approaching the toadstool cautiously, Tori managed to rest her hand on top of the mushroom for support as she reached toward the fangs. She gripped one and started wiggling, yanking as she went until the fang was released with a wet-sounding PLOP.
Awesome. Tori eyed the thing with a mixture of disgust and pride. Now for the second one.

With one tooth down, and just one more to go...Well, she was almost finished...
Thank Merlin...
Getting a hold on the second fang, Marilyn repeated the downward pull. This tooth, like the first, popped out easily.
Walking to the giant jar that held many other Biting Toadstool fangs, she placed both teeth gently into it.
No need to carelessly throw then in...
Returning to her seat, she raised her hand. "I do believe I'm finished, Professor."

Sierra deposited the first fang into the jar then checked to make sure her gloves were still securely on her hands. They were, so she turned back to the toadstool and got ready to harvest the second fang. The poor toadstool was trying to move again, but Sierra could tell the effects of the Numbing Charm hadn't worn off. The toadstool's movements were still slowed to nearly nothing at all, and it's movements were all over the place.
Again, she got a firm grip on the top of the toadstool. She held the fungus in place as she reached for the second fang. Gripping it firmly, she yanked downward in a swift movement and out the fang came. She placed it, too, in the jar alongside the first fang. So what now? Did she just leave the fungus there...in the state it was in? She could care less about an idiotic toadstool, but what she did care about was losing more house points. "Erm, Professor Bentley?" Sierra asked, her hand in the air. "Should we end the charm? ...and where do we put the toadstool when we're done?" Had Bentley said what to do? Sierra couldn't remember...

She glared at the offending limb, and tried it with her right hand. With the demonstrated jabbing motion Presley said firmly "Viro Torpeo!" Not to her surprise, it had no effect, except to anger the toadstool. She raised her right arm. "Professor? I'm having a hard time perfoming the excercise. My wand arm is broken, you see." She simply couldn't do it with her right. Not to mention the part where you needed two hands to pull out the fangs.
Hmm...
Sierra glanced in the direction of the Ravenclaw who'd asked for help. "I can help," Sierra spoke up, her wand in her hand and ready to cast on the girl's toadstool. She had her reasons for asking. Which, of course, she'd keep to herself.

Presley looked over to the girl who'd spoken. "Would you?" Not that Presley was incapable, just that her wand arm was broken and unusable at the moment. She didn't want to take advantage of anyone's generosity, but she really couldn't do it on her own, for reasons beyond her own control.

Sierra shrugged nonchalantly. She'd offered, hadn't she? She didn't do that very often here either. "Alright, stand back," she instructed the girl. She aimed her wand toward the fungus and with a jabbing motion said, "Viro Torpeo!" It was sort of odd watching the whole numbing process all over again, and she still watched the toadstool for a few extra seconds. She put her hand on the top of the toadstool, gripping it firmly just as she had her own. "Alright, harvest away."
Good, the thing was numb meaning it would probably not try to bite Kennedy. But, what if it did? Would it's saliva be infected with rabies and then his finger would have to be cut off?! O_o
Now that was his worst case scenario. What if he tried to charm it one more time? BUT, what if he overdoses the plant and it dies and he gets sent to jail for murder?
Best not do that, then.
Going back to the present and as far away from his creative thoughts Kennedy placed a shaky hand on the toadstool's top. "Now, dont move. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Got it." He took a firm hold of one of the fangs and sucked in a breath as he pulled.
YANK!
He did it! Oh, but now his stomach was feeling queasy. "I'm definitely not going to be dentist," he mumbled.

Tori eyed the mushroom, as if making sure it would stand still, before walking off to deposit her first fang in the jar. She returned to the biting toadstool and rested her arm on top of it again, reaching for the second fang.
Once Tori had a hold of it, she wiggled again, and then YANKED, hard, so hard that she actually fell on her bum once the fang was free. "Whew," the redhead exhaled, patting her mushroom on top. "Thanks, buddy!"
All done! She beamed as she dropped the second fang into the jar and then headed back to her stool.
Hmm, Sierra had asked a good question for once. SHOCKING! "Professor, would you like us to harvest more fangs?" This was kind of a fun task.

Carter adjusted the grip on his toadstool slightly so that he had a better angle to reach the fang. One the toadstool was securely in his grip he used his other hand to grasp on to the remaining fang.
He gave it a quick pull. He wondered vaguely how the toadstool would feel when it came to. He knew he'd be completely shocked to wake up and be toothless. Did plants have similar emotions?
He was busy lost in these thoughts as he went and deposited both fags in the jar.

Beverly was nervous on performing the numbing spell on it cause she might make a mistake. She concentrate and said "viro torpeo". As she practiced earlier, With a jab she pointed and perform the incantation.
Hoping she make it right she approached the toadstool and tightening her dragon hide gloves... She makes a good grip at it's cap and pull her first fang.
It's easy now that she had pulled the first one the second fang will be no problem.
After she got the 2 fangs she put it on the jar, with amazement that she done their activity with no mistakes...

Professor Bentley watched as the students began completing their task. The jar was slowly filling up with Biting Toadstool fangs... this was brilliant! The classes efforts would no doubt be appreciated by the Lafay and Brookes. They'd be able to make a fair few healing potions from them.
"Great work guys, finish up what your doing and we'll move on shortly."
She continued walking around the group observing thier efforts.
OOC: Hi all, I'll leave the activitiy open for a while longer as some are still participating. And considering I have 10pages to get through and respond to, I'll post the next bit later. I'm not sure when... I'm not feeling well today. But it will be at some point in the next 12 hours. PROMISE!
For now, finish the activity if you haven't done so, otherwise sit tight and don't chat. And remember, even if it takes hours to wait in RL, in the RPG its only a matter of minutes, so don't complain about it or else *eyes you all*
There are other classes running, so there's plenty that you can do! Have fun!

Gideon deposited the fang into a container that would hopefully hold two of them soon enough. With that done and the toadstool proved to be still under the numbing spell, the Gryffindor retook his hold on the cap, using his opposite hand since the angle was better for him to pull the fang out. When he was satisfied with his hold, he gripped the remaining fang before carefully pulling it as well.
Unfortunantly for the 4th year it proved more difficult then its brother. Gideon frowned and gripped the fang a little more securely so he could try again. He remembered the professor's instructions and notes and hoped he hadn't done anything wrong himself to make it harder. One the count of three he pulled once more...this time the fang was released into the palm of his hand.
Whew...all done.

Presley smiled at the girl. "Really, thank you. I'm Presley by the way." Managing to slide on her right dragon hide glove, Presley reached in, grabbed the fang firmly, and yanked it out. It came out a little easier than she had expected, and she had to take a step back to maintain her balance, but it was out. Presley set it on the table, and looked at the other one.

Jez sorted through the fang-less toadstools, trying to find the special one she'd (kind-of) made friends with earlier. One leaned towards her and tried to nip her fingers in a way that looked slightly affectionate. Jez smiled and patted its cap. It seemed to like it. Jez had to admit, even with its tendency to bite even without teeth, the little toadstool was as cute as all get-out.
First contact between poisonous mushroom and human has been made.
Taking the fang that she had just pulled out. she got the container, and placed the fang into it. Caroline picked up the toadstool again. Put a hand around the cap. She found another fang. Grabbing a hold of it. She gave it a good yank.
The second fang was now in her hand.
She sat the toadstool down and placed it into the container with the first one. She grinned at the toadstool as it obviously came back from being numbed.
Haha You fangless bitting toadstools. Can't bite her now.
Now that that was over.
What was next?

Days of Potter 2023:___________________________ Which Bertie Botts Flavour Are You? You are Bread!
Seren watched as the students continued to practice the incantion and the wand movement... seperately of course.
“Ok now I understand you haven’t practiced the spell yet... but you will be doing this on the toadstools.” Yes... first time’s a charm? She hoped sp. She didn’t want them to suddenly become Blaze Again Buttons. “Remember to speak very clearly, and calmly... don’t rush it.” Pause.
“You will know that they’re numb when they no longer have control of their actions... so they’ll be a little... all over the place, and slower than usual.” Seren took a few strides toward one of the Biting toadstools, pulling on her dragon hide gloves as she went.
“Viro Torpeo,” she said jabbing her wand in the ‘stools direction. Of course it had the desired effect. Seren wiggled her finger around the toadstools cap, as it squirmed around trying to get its teeth around her glove and failing. It seemed to be a little groggy.
“Now as I’ve already mentioned we will be harvesting the fangs so that they may be kept in the potions stores cupboard for later use.”
She positioned herself behind the toadstool, facing the class. Demonstration time.
“Start by getting a firm grip on the toadstools cap, be careful not to get too close to the teeth. ... And don’t grasp the cap too tightly, or you’ll risk damaging the plant.... “ she demonstrated by placing her hand on the top of the cap and holding it in place. “Do not... under any circumstances use a Freezing Charm, otherwise the fangs won’t come out cleanly and you’ll run the risk of them not growing back.”
She gazed around at the students’ faces to make sure they understood. “ Then you need to get a good grip on the fang... one at a time... and yank in a downward direction.” Gripping one of the fangs, Seren did just that. With a sharp, clean yank, the fang came out. The toadstool didn’t protest... much. “Try to do this in one swift movement, it’s the quickest and the most efficient way to get them out... otherwise you’ll be pulling a little while.” Either way, they would get them out. Eventually.
She held it up for the class to see. Quickly she repeated the process, then held up the second fang to show the students. “Once you have successfully harvested both fangs from your Biting Toadstool, please place it in this jar.”
Seren held up a fairly big jar and placed it on a spare stool beside the blackboard.
With a flick of her wand, the instructions appeared on the board.
“Right, make sure you have your gloves on. If for some reason you forgot to bring them with you... or have misplaced them, you will find spares in the cupboard by the greenhouse door. Please return them at the end of class if you borrow them.”
And without further ado, Seren stepped aside, motioning for the students to approach a Biting Toadstool. Let the fun begin!
“Once you have completed the activity you may return to your seat.” OOC: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Orchid focused on the toadstools and smirked, slightly arrogant. "Viro Torpeo." It rolled of her tongue as she jabbed her wand forwards, but maybe a little harder than she thought she had done, as the toadstool she had been focusing on changed color for a few brief moments before changing back to it's original state. "Well, that didn't turn out right." She muttered to herself. Let's try again. She thought as she refocused on the same toadstool and held her wand a little looser than she had originally done. "Viro Torpeo." Orchid said as she jabbed her wand again only lighter. She smiled as the toadstool started to become slower and stumble around. Perfect. She thought.
1) Ensure the toadstool is numb, and cannot feel pain. (You will know it is numb when it
doesn’t appear to be in control of its movements.)
2) Get a firm hold of the cap–but not too firm.
3) With your other hand grasp hold of one of theangs, and yank!
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the next fang. Then place the fangs in the jar.
Okay, I gotta do the 4th step and the faster I do this the less likely the toad stool will awaken.
And with that he stuck his hand into the mouth of the toad still and yanked fang, He looked over the 3rd set of instruction, get another fang, GREAT
He took a firm hold on his still toad stool once more and then stuck his hand in thevtoad stools mouth again quickly yanked another tooth, there, that was done. With just a jar on his desk for storage he pretty much knew what to do with it. He jarred the two fangs then looked over his notes once more. He was done, yes, he moved away from the toad stools with his jar of fangs and waited for the lesson to move on or better yet end.
Orchid grabbed her gloves and slipped them on and then grabbed the toadstool's cap with a firm grip. Grabbing her first fang with her left hand she yanked down hard, the toadstool squirmed under her grip, but she did have the fang so she was happy about that.
The curly haired teen was ready to pull out the second and last fang....Well, not really because his stomach was still doing somersaults, but he wanted to get this done already. Kennedy poked the toadstool and saw it slowly move, it still looked pretty down. Good.
He pulled up his sleeves and made sure his dragon hide gloves wounldn't accidentally slip of or anything and went in. He now placed a steady hand on the toadstool's top and took hold of another big fang and secured his fingers around it before pulling.
YANK!
Ah, yes! He had two. So far, assignment complete AND he did not get injured. That was strange, but he thanked his lucky star. Taking both fangs into his hands, Kennedy examined them at eye level. They were COOL, but he wouldn't admit that, yet. He placed the fangs into the jar and was about to go to his seat when he remembered something.
"What do I do with the toadstool?" This almost reminded him of his Biology class back home. His class had to dissect a frog...but, where did they go afterward? Hmm....
As soon as the Professor said 'go', Charner was up and out of her seat so fast that it wobbled and she had to stop, spin and catch it before it made a bang on the floor. Once she was sure it was stable, and gave it a wary glance, THEN she was speed-walking to the Toadstools.
However, as soon as she got to one, hands poised and ready to grab it, she remembered. Gloves.
Pause.
Blink.
Oh for the love of Merlin ----
Rounding on her heels, Charner nearly dived for her bag, skidding onto her knees and shuffling through her bag once more. It took an agonizing minute to find them, but after she did, she drew them on and gave them a satisfying snap against her arms. Perfect.
With a grin that could border on maniac, she turned about once again and spotted her toadstool. The one in the corner. Off to the side, looking like it was ready for a fight. Heh. She liked a good fight.
Wiggling her fingers, she started towards the plant, withdrawing her wand slowly. Heh heh. It was fully suspecting, a pure challenge. A face-off. A grand show-down!
"Viro Torpeo!!" She thrust her arm out and her other hand fell onto her hip in a fist, an epic stance that made heroes. The spell fired, hit the base of the toadstool and VICTORY!!!
With a grin, Charner hoped forward and planted BOTH her hands on the top of the toadstool. In her mind, it was so numb it wouldn't know what hit it next. Unfortunately, what happened in Charner's mind and in reality were often two completely different things. This, was no exception.
As soon as her hands came into contact with the plant, it stirred. Yes, STIRRED right under her! And it shifted, making her hands slip on its slippery, rubbery, GROSS surface. Of course with nothing to hold onto, not unless she wanted to grab the cap and damage the toadstool (which the Professor had specifically warned against), she fell. Or was evily deposited right onto the ground beside it.
And from that place, lying winded on her back, she got a good view of the underbelly of the beast. Fangs. Lots of them. And they were all aiming at her. All ready to try and EAT her! They were even coming towards her------
"VIRO TORPEO!!" Her wand jutted up so hard and far that it nearly went up into the maw of the THING. Then, everything stopped.
The beast seemed to whimper and then sag with unwilling loss of function. And that, brought a smile to Charner's lips. Now she was victorious....
Pause. A gentle poke to one of the teeth. No response.
....
NOW she was victorious!
Of course, the toadstool probably hadn't moved very far in the whole affair, but then, reality and Charner's mind rarely told the same story.

Orchid smiled victoriously as she yanked the second fang out and let the squirming (and attempting to murder bite her) toadstool from her grip. "Professor." She said, nodding at her as she put the two fangs into the jar, her mission now complete.

Sierra waved it off like she'd done nothing important at all. "Ehh, I'm sure I'll need something one day," she pointed out, giving her typical 'do a favor, get a favor' attitude. Her eyes flickered down to the toadstool, and she watched as the girl yanked out the first fang. Not too bad for somebody with a broken bone. Or whatever it was she'd said she had. "...and I'm Sierra," she added. She didn't remove her hand off the toadstool. Presley still had one more fang to harvest. May as well just keep the toadstool in place...
As soon as Prof. Bentley said that they were going to actually do the pulling of the fangs from the toadstool, Aurora felt a little sick.
She had been fine when they had practiced the incantation and when they had practice the wand movement...but now to actually do it? She wasn't sure she could.
She took a deep breath whilst putting on her dragon hide gloves on and grabbed her wand. She nervously glanced at the toadstool who seemed to be taunting her--knowing that she was nervous.
This was it. Now or never She thought to herself. With a clear voice, she pointed her wand at the toadstool and said: "Viro Torpeo" while doing the jabbing motion with her wand.
The magic hit the toadstool who almost instantly began to sway almost drunkenly and lose control of its movements.
Orr glanced up to the blackboard to read 1) Ensure the toadstool is numb, and cannot feel pain. (You will know it is numb when it doesn’t appear to be in control of its movements.)OK, she had done that next on the list was to hold the cap firmly...
So next on the list was to grip the cap firmly but not too firmly...
Aurora took a step closer to the toadstool and the table and held a firm but not too firm hold on the cap with one hand.
She glanced up at the blackboard again, Now to yank the fang out
She took her other hand and placed it on a fang and with a little force applied she yanked the fang out. That wasn't too bad she thought as she put the fang down on the table next to a jar that would contain them once she was finished.
Now for the next fang... She thought grabbing a hold of the toadstool's cap once again.
She took her other hand and yanked out the second fang. She put both in the jar and closed the lid. She had done it.
Looking at the toadstool she noticed that while it was still enchanted, it had gained some control back while other movements were uncontrollable. It looked like it was going through a seizure. She giggled to herself

Reason: double posting/adding the last phrase
Now that the Toadstool was all numb and helpless, Charner could proceed.
Given she was already on her back, she figured the best way would be to complete the process from there. So, she shuffled over using her elbows as a brace, and shimmied right up to the stem of the plant. See? She didn't fear it. Big ol' hairy toadstool had nothing up on her.
Tucking her wand between her teeth, Charner reached up and wrapped her fingers around one of the fangs. All too easy.
Tug.
Nothing.
Tug tug.
Nothing again.
.....
Frowning, Charner shifted her body position and tried again. And again. And again. The poor numb creature was probably rolling its biologically-unpresent eyes at her willing her just to get it over with. Or for the numbing spell to wear off so it could eat her arm.
Frankly, she liked her arm. She was just starting to develop some muscles on it, so she was planning on keeping it. So she tugged with more vigor. With more force. She was determined to get this tooth.
And then. It happened.
The plant...drooled on her! It started on her hands, which she didn't notice as a result of the gloves and slowly worked down until it touched her bare arms. It was cold. Slimy. And absolutely disgusting. Her eyes popped open wide and she stared at the saliva, watching with horror as it continued to creep down both arms. Of course, watching the drool on her arms kept her completely unawares of the large glob that was forming on the point of the fang which her hands were wrapped about. And that the point of that tooth was right above her mouth, which was in turn open partway to accommodate holding the wand between her teeth.
She didn't know, until it dripped and landed RIGHT in her mouth.
She froze. Choked. Gagged. And SHRIEKED. Very loudly.
Rolling out from under the THING she spat and gagged and tried all methods of vomitting the bile back up. She even wiped her hand across her lips and was about to stick her fingers in her mouth to try and get the rest of it out when she realized they TOO were covered in the saliva.
O.O!!!!
"That's it! You are going DOWN!" With a war-like cry, Charner nearly jumped on the back of the toadstool, her hands slipping and sliding until she got one on its mushroom of a head and the other around the tooth. It was all twisting, yanking and pulling beside silent curses in her mind.
And then, with a pop, the tooth came out. The sudden release had her tipping forward over the toadstool and falling on her back again. But she had IT! Her hand shot up into the air victoriously.
One down, one to go!
