Fangs? Biting?

WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!

Biting her lip, Kita slowly put on her dragonhide gloves. Anything to slow down the process of having to be NEAR these plants! They had fangs for Merlin's sake! That meant that they can bite her head off!

... Maybe she needed to calm down.

The seventeen year old approached the Biting Toadstools and frowned. If it wasn't for the whole 'could-bite-your-head-off' thing, they could be considered quite... cute. Shaking her head, she looked up at the blackboard.

Numbing Charm... Kita whipped out her wand and pointed it at the toadstools. Viro Torpeo. Viro Torpeo. Simple enough right? "Viro Torpeo!" she said, jabbing her wand towards the toadstools and trying not to touch it.

Wait... how were you meant to find out whether the spell had worked or not? Frowning, she looked up at the other students to see how they were-

WHY WERE THEY TOUCHING THE TOADSTOOLS?!

Oh. That's the checking method. But... what if she got her fingers bitten off? She kind of liked her nails, thank you very much.

Biting her lip again, the brunette slowly placed her finger near the toadstool, ready to retreat it as quickly as possible in case the toadstool wasn't numbed. But wait... what was this? The toadstool was moving around, trying to snap her fingers but... didn't it have the energy to do so? Did this mean that she had done this correctly?

WOOHHOOOO!

Ahem!

Smiling, She looked up at the blackboard. Time for the next step.

Now the fangs.. Oh really Minerva had to stick her hand in there.. Oh well get it over with right? With her gloves on she found a fang and pulled, but it didn't move. So she pulled again this time it came out. I really have to do this again she thought.

Now the final one, Kimalia lightly patted the toadstool's head, it barely moved this time. "It's the last one then you're free." She firmly gripped another fang and cleanly pulled it out. She was done! Smiling in success, Kimalia placed the two fresh fangs into the required jar near the blackboard before returning to her desk. She didn't know return the gloves just yet, in case there was something else they needed to do.

Ariella looked down at her mushroom with a disgusting expression. She hated toadstools. They were slimy, mushy, and just plain nasty. Shrugging it off, she decided she had better get started on her activity. Looking up at the board, she saw the first step was to numb the toadstool.

Crossing her fingers so that her spell would work, she firmly stated the incantation. "Viro Torpeo!" She watched as her toadstool wiggled around for a few seconds, and then returned to its original movements. Well that wasn't a good sign. She decided to try the spell again. "Viro Torpeo!" she said again, louder this time. The toadstool swayed back and forth and then stopped at a standstill. Ariella waited a few more seconds to make sure that it wasn't in control of it's movements. Putting on her gloves, she poked the mushroom. It jiggled on the top. It worked!

Next... harvest the fang.

Wait... WHAT?!

Harvest the FANG?! That means you had to TOUCH the fang right?! MERLIN!

No. That's no way to think. She can do this! Yes, she can! As long as she did what the Professor said to do, then she'll be fine! No need for accidents! Kita took a firm grip of the toadstool cap. Why did it feel... weird? Like... floppy? Maybe it was just her. It wouldn't be the first time she thought something felt weird when... it didn't.

Meh!

Now... time to pull out the fang. Why is it that this didn't sound too great? Taking a deep breath, she took a firm grip of the fang and tugged.

Nothing.

Whaaaaaaaaat?!

A small frown formed on her face. This was... odd. Why didn't it come out? She took another, stronger grip of the fang and tugged again. This time, the fang came out! Woohoo! She put the fang down near the side and looked up at the blackboard again.

Okay. So this wasn't actually that bad. It was actually quite interesting. She liked it, Indiana liked it a lot. She thought that she was going to enjoy herbology, as long as it was fun like this anyway. Indiana smiled, glancing around. Was she supposed to have this much fun in a lesson? She wasn't too sure. But she didn't really care. She liked it, and she didn't really care what people thought of her. She would do well in her lessons, and that was good. Okay. She needed to move onto the next instruction. Which was to do what she just did. Ahh. That was good. Because she knew what to do.

With a smile, she gripped the toadstool again. She was having fun, she was starting to like her lessons here. Still smiling, she grabbed a hold of the second fang, and pulled at it. It came out pretty easily, she was glad because she didn't want to seem like she couldn't do it. Letting go off the toadstool, she dropped the second fang into the jar, before waiting for further instructions.

Okay... Scary stuff. Putting on her Dragon-Hive gloves, she neared herself to the mushroom. The thought of working with a poisonous mushroom freaked her out, but most of the living things in the magical world freaked her out so... she can handle a small harmless mushroom... Hopefully...

"Viro Torpeo," she said, making a jabbing movement with her wand at the mushroom. Hmmm... Joanna had forgotten the professor's instruction, to know when the Toadstool is numb. Only one way to find out, right? Joanna put her hands next to one of it fangs wanting know if she succeeded. Suddenly, the stupid mushroom bit her; she barely felt it, but it BIT her. Hmph! Rude mushroom. "Here we go again," she mumbled to herself, getting ready with her wand. "Viro Torpeo," she said again making a jabbing movement with her wand. This time the mushroom just swayed from side to side, losing it's energy "Oh Yeah... That's the sign," she thought to herself feeling rather foolish, for forgetting the fact. But...

Time to cut off fangs... Yeah!

Fallon silently watched her peers attempt the assignment before beginning the task herself. Here goes nothing! She grinned, attempting her first spell at Hogwarts. "Viro Torpeo!" She tried, jabbing at the plant.

For a moment she wasn't sure if it had worked, then she jumped and jerked her hand away as the pesky thing attempted to de-finger her. With a sheepish shrug she glanced around the room, sincerely hoping no one had witnessed that.

Once more then. This time she fought with her strong Irish accent to pronounce it painstakingly correct, "Viro Torpeo!" But alas, she knew she had made a mistake as her hand accidently twisted her wand a bit. This time she didn't need near-loss of limb to tell her she had performed it incorrectly.

Nevertheless she wasn't discouraged, she was quite enjoying the challenge acutally. Finally, sporting an impish grin, she uttered once more, "Viro Torpeo!" ......... Success!

Fallon imagined that if a plant could be drunk, this was definitely how it would act, swaying dangerously to the sides, barely opening its mouth to half-heartedly snap at her as she touched the cap lightly.

On to the interesting part!

Eris practically beamed at the ugly little toadstool. The thing looked so vicious and strange, it was enough to make the little boy-girl of a witch love Herbology which she was at first so worried about. It's not every day either, that you get to be outside of the castle for a class and rip...well...collect...fangs from a toadstool.

Eris slipped a hand into the pocket of her robe, withdrawing her jagged and masculine wand, a swarm of butterflies flickering into her stomach as she looked it warmly.

Next the girl held it out towards the toadstool as though she were about to engage it in a sparring match.

"Viro Torpeo!" she commanded without raising her voice above it's usual level, jabbing the wand forward with vigor. The response though, was a tuft of purple air emitting from the tip of her wand with a puff.

"Erm..." Eris took a few steps forward as the thing snapped and shook it's head to distribute her smoke. As it was about to make another snap, she shoved the tip of her wand into it's mouth. "Viro Torpeo!" she repeated again, with just as much enthusiasm.

No smoke this time. She hoped for the plant's sake that it had worked. Eh, might as well give him one more dose...but that was it, she wasn't about to kill the plant by attempting to drug the life out of it.

"Viro Torpeo..." she repeated calmly, doing the same motions but with a meticulous look in her eye.

She gave a nod, quite proud of her work.

Isabelle carefully took her wand and pointed it at the toadstool. She jabbed it sharply, careful not to hit the toadstool, and said, "Viro Torpeo." Isabelle examined the toadstool carefully. Did the spell work? Isabelle didn't think it looked numbed it was still moving around a little bit.

Carefully this time she jabbed again. "Viro Torpeo," Isabelle said carefully making sure she said it right. Yes, it looked like it worked. Next she had to harvest the two fangs.

"Alright...Let's do this." She said to herself softly. "First off...Dragon hide gloves." She gently bended down and rummaged through her small sling-over bag. Aha! She said in her head. She pulled out the Dragon hide gloves and set them gently on the table.

"Okay...gloves, check." She pulled out her wand and once again practiced the jab movement she'd be using to the numb the Biting 'stool. "Jab's down packed. Now, incantation. Viro Torpeo, right."

After she ensured herself of knowing the charm, she pulled out her wand, made sure her gloves were at reachable length, and slightly stood back, her wand pointed in the direction of the Biting Toadstool. Gulp. Here I go..

"Viro Torpeo!" She said this as she moved her toward the Toadstool in the Jab movement. Nothing. Okay, let's try it again, shall we? Deep breaths. Relax. "Viro Torpeo!" as the incantation was said, the jab movements were added. Did it work? The toadstool seemed to be slower and groggy. She smiled softly proud of herself.

Once the Professor gave the ok, Lysandra put on her dragon hide gloves and walked towards a toadstool. The cap seemed a bit wide and the stem a little shorter than most she observed. She took out her wand from her robes and pointed it at the little mushroom. She pronounced the incantation while moving her wand in a jabbing motion, as they were practicing earlier, towards the mushroom.

Viro Torpeo she said, not quietly, but not clearly either.

She didn't see any difference and didn't know if the mushroom was numb or not. She slowly moved her hand towards the 'stool and it tried to bite at her. Well, seems I didn't get it. Let's try again, shall we? She thought to herself. So she cleared her throat, pointed her wand at the toadstool. She jabbed her wand a second time and said the incantation.

Viro Torpeo! she said clearly and with gusto. She suddenly started seeing the mushroom start to slow in movement. She smiled when she saw that the spell was a success. She poked at it's cap just to make sure. Yep. Wasn't trying to bite at her.

Daichi eyed the toadstool that was placed in front of him with a cautious look. Were those teeth he saw? He listened to the first instruction and immediately he grabbed his phoenix feather wand from his holster. Taking a deep breath and concentrating on the spell, Daichi pointed his wand at the Toadstool and while swishing his wand he said "Viro Torpeo,”

..........nothing.....

He wasn't even suprised anymore, these two years had been nothing but failure for him when he tried it the first time. In fact, he couldn't even remember when he had done it right once. The second year bit his lower lip as he eyed the toadstool. Why couldn't he just punch it until it knock'snumbs out? He carefully looked around if anyone saw him and raised his fist up. But when he was about to hit the teeth from the Toadstool snapped at him and the twelve year old Slytherin quickly withdrew his fist. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea...

Sighing deeply, he pointed his wand at it again. "Viro Torpeo!" A few sparks erupted out of the wand but the toadstool was still moving.

Puffing his cheeks in annoyance, but Daichi wasn't going to give up. No matter how many times he had to try, he would NOT give up. Giving up were two words that weren't in Daichi's dictionary. And who knows? Third times the charm right?

"Viro Torpeo!" He wanted to shout in celebration when the third time was apparently THE charm. Daichi checked just in case if the toadstool was numb and after a few times of prodding with his finger , the toadstool did not respond and he figured it was numb.

Stage 1 clear!

With the first fang in hand, she searched for the second. Were these teeth actually really pointy? She was rather curious. Sure, she couldn't feel it through the gloves (thank Merlin) but she couldn't see the teeth either. What did they look like!?

Finding the second largest fang, she grasped a firm grip on it with her fingers, not wanting her hand to slip again, and gave another mighty pull. Thankfully this time her hand didn't slip, and out came the fang.

TOTAL WIIIIIIIN!

Smirking at the fangs on her gloved hand, and then down at the toadstool, she was tempted to poke it again for the fun of it (since it couldn't bite her MWA!), but decided against it. Instead, she dropped both fangs into the jar. Hmm...what would if be like if she had fangs?

...dragon fangs.

MWA!

Fallon gripped the cap of the numbed toadstool loosley, afraid of damaging it, unfortunately she almost allowed it to slip out of her fingers completely. She laughed nervously at her mistake, reminding herself it was too numb to properly bite her.

"Now just sit back and behave you," She spoke to it soothingly, "and this will take no time at all."

With a deep breath to center herself, Fallon firmly gripped the cap and kept it from moving. Slowly she approached the first fang with her fingers, and with a gulp and short prayer she grasped a fang and yanked.

She hadn't even noticed closing her eyes, but when she opened them, she had a weakly protesting toadstool in one hand, and a fang in the other.

Well that was easier than anticipated. She grinned, happy she didn't have to struggle like some of the other students. It was probably from years of pulling her brother's teeth for Tooth Fairy money.

Ok last thing Minerva thought. She reached in pulling out the last fang placing it in the jar. She leaned back in her chair happy that the first activity was over and that she didn't to to bad.

Now it was time to actually harvest the fangs. Yey, not dangerous at all!
Emily causiously got closer to her toadstool, staring at it's fangs. Yes it was numb as the spell had seemed to work, but that didn't mean it coudn't still bite her!
Like the professor had showed them, she bent down and grabbed the stools cap firmly. No way was she getting bit by a toadstool. Now came the tricky part. Biting her lip she put her hand on one of it's fangs and pulled as hard and quickly as she could. It took a few seconds, but it was out. Now all was left was the other one! Oh joy!

Lana watched intently as Professor Bentley demonstrated how to remove the fangs from the biting toadstool. Her eyes widened when the professor yanked out the first one.

Do I really need to do this? I don't even want a scratch from those things...

And just like that, professor pulled out the second fang and placed them in a jar.

Now it's our turn? Lana had second thoughts about this class. Well, it can't be that bad right?

Lana pulled on her dragon hide gloves, Thank Merlin I did not forget these today, and pulled out her wand. What was that incantation again? How could she already forget?

Veeero Torpedo? No. Viro something. Lana felt her whole body slump. She looked at the board to see if it would be on there. Nope, just instructions...

Lana headed back to her seat so she can check what the incantation was and what wand movement she should do.

The wand movement was a jab, so it was just like they had practiced in Charms class. Jab, Jab, Jab, went her wand as she practiced the movement for a while. Emmaleigh listened intently to the directions, and then scribbled them down in her notes. When she was done, she grabbed her bag and began to rummage around for her dragon hide gloves. She knew they were there, they were always there. Lets see, there were her snacks, first aid kit, and her towel, but where were the gloves? She finally found them hiding under some of the books she had in her bag. Pulling them securely onto her hands, she approached her Toadstool.

She just needed to jab at the plant, and say the incantation while thinking about numbing the plant. Sounds easy enough. With the wand in her right hand, she preformed the movement as she said, "Viro Torpeo". Now it was time to test to see if it had worked. Putting her finger near the plant, it quickly bit down on her finger. "Hey," she said, "Let me go" She tried to wiggle her finger free, but the little plant did have a good grip on her. Since her right hand was occupied by the plant, she grabbed her wand in her left hand, and quickly preformed the spell again. Instantly, she could tell that the spell had worked. The toadstool's grip slackened, and she freed her finger. "Good thing for Dragon's hide," she muttered as she holstered her wand.

Time to cut of some fangs... Yeah!

Okay... After successfully numbing the Toadstool, and chuckling the way it swayed from side to side, Joanna decided it's time to cut of the fang. She made sure... again, that's it numb, and luckily it didn't bite her... again. She firmly held the cap, trying not squeeze it even thought it was squishy, and yanked out one of the fangs. Hehe, it was squishy.

Now for the second fang. Poor mushrooms, they were killing them. "JoJo your not Snow White... You don't feelings towards mushrooms," she thought to herself, reminding herself to stop being so... gentle.

Second fang... Where are you???

Fingering the leather gloves around the edge of her wrist, she felt secure about their fasten on her thin hand. Sure, the girl was a bit of a dare-devil, but if someone wasn't watching her or giving the dare, Eirs would rather prefer to live another day.

Rolling her shoulders back as though this required marathon like stretching, the little witch winked at the plant before using her left hand to hold open it's mouth and stretching out the other to take out the fang.

As she held it open, the plant feebly protested as though it didn't know what part of it's little toadstool body she was touching.

At least the numbing charmed had worked.

She wiped her glove protected thumb up and down on of the fangs to make them decently dry, couldn't have her hand slipping when she tried to take it out now.

Wrapping her fingers around it, the little witch knew better luckily, than to yank her arm back. Past experience had taught her with a strength that she possessed she might take it's head off with the fang. Thus the little boy-girl of a witch moved her hand back with a quick wrist motion downwards,causing the fang to come out within a matter of mili-seconds.

Fang 1 = Success.

Feeling much more confident, Fallon set down the first fang she had harvested, and gripped the second one tightly.

"On three then," She warned the befuddled fungi, "One, two, three!" Pop! Out it came.

She had had difficulties with the spell portion, but the actual dealing with the plants was surprisingly enjoyable. She didn't even mind when the de-fanged toadstool lightly nipped her glove.

"There's a good boy," She cooed at it, "Wasn't so bad afterall." She glanced around once, wondering if any one else had formed a pecular attachment to their plants...one girl thanked hers, so that was a start.

With an accomplished grin and a bounce in her step, Fallon made her way towards Professor Bentley's desk and deposited them in the jar with a quick, "Very enjoyable lesson Professor!" And scurried back to her desk, watching other students perform the task.

After making sure the toadstool was completely numb, Lysandra made a firm grip on the mushrooms top, also making sure it wasn't too tight and to not get to close to the teeth. She readied herself and grabbed one of the many teeth that the toadstool had. She took a deep breath and then yanked in a downward motion. Nice and swift.

Not knowing that she closed her eyes in the process, she opened one of her eyes to see a tooth between her pointer finger and her thumb. She made a small smile and put the first fang aside. Now on to the second one. And I'll make sure I get it the first time without closing my eyes like a baby she thought.

Now that his toadstool was completely numb and couldn't feel anything, Daichi replaced his wand back in his holster with a smug look on his face. As he reached for his gloves, Daichi placed them on as he watched how the Professor showed how to pull out the fangs. It looked a bit freaky to him, what if something happened? That his hand would slip or something he was bleeding all over and and and.....

Taking a deep breath, Daichi tried to calm himself. If he just did what he was instructed to do everything should be fine. So with that in mind, he carefully watched the procedure.

Grabbing the stools cap firmly in one of his hands to keep it in place he gripped a fang with his other gloved hand and pulled. In one try , something which even surprised Daichi himself, he got the fang out. He smiled broadly as he looked around as though wanting to say , 'did you see that? did you see that?!' and placed the fang on the table.

After placing the first one to the side, Eris felt more like she knew what she was doing. Not to mention that there was a certain sense of duty to this as the fangs were going to Professor Lafay.

"Okay, Mr. Toadstool...just one more for today, and then regrow them back for me, kay? she asked busying herself with a pull of the brown leather gloves.

Placing her hand on the cap once more, Eris gripped the other tooth firmly. With a quick tug, the tooth came out.

Easy peasy.

With a victorious grin, she placed both of them into the jar and looked up at the Professor expectantly.

Quick, efficient, well done. Just the way it should be.
