Feel the need to kick your heels up and shout in whatever language you please? Come to the dance floor and shake your multicultural bums until you drop! Fairy lights that shine in all colors of the rainbow light up the area. The rainbow-colored lights reflect off of a shiny, metallic sphere that slowly spins as it hangs down from the ceiling. It that a disco ball? Whether you can waltz, salsa, polka, hula, river dance, or square dance, feel free to do any jig of your choosing as long as it's appropriate and international. Step right up, put on your dancing shoes, and boogie!
Continuing to guide them both in their own little dance, Gideon listened to Selina as she answered his question. His head bobbing once in a nod to show his understanding of what was being told of him. There had been instances in most of the tasks that had proven to be...interesting to some.
"Aye yeah...um thanks," he said feeling slightly subconscious as she finally pointed out reference to his clothes having been expecting it all along. "Figured it was a better idea of Scottish dress then a kilt, especially at school." That would have surely gotten quite a few comments and not only from Selina.
"Ye look very nice yourself."
Selina nodded, "Yeah, although I am a fan of the kilt. I think you could have pulled it off." That would have made her night. To see her boyfriend in a kilt; of course, she was probably the exact reason he did not wear it. He did not want her to tear the mickey out of him for dressing in a skirt kilt.
When he commented that she looked nice she felt a small bit of color rise to her cheeks, "Thanks. Violet told me that she liked it too... of course, I do feel kind of foolish with it being my maams and all."
Then she brought up something that had been plaguing her mind since the two of them had gone to hogesmeade, "Hey... I know this is random... but did you see Elektra at Hogesmeade?"

Yet the look in her eyes showed self conflict. What was she arguing about with herself? Probably whether or not to keep talking to him. He didn't know what she would decide.
A few more moments passed and the feeling of awkward was so thick you could almost reach your hand into the air and tangle your fingers in it. Neither knew what to say, but no matter how much either searched, the words would not come.
Desperate to break the uncomfortable silence, Christopher managed to spit out something, anything. Even though it was probably one of the most stupid things he'd probably ever said. "So.... are we okay?"
Christopher James. You. Are. An. Idiot.
Of course they weren't okay! And he definitely knew it too. He knew that nothing about them was okay, and the very few words that had passed between them made nothing change. They were still far apart, and they still had a very long way to go. "I- I'm sorry. That was really dumb," he muttered, feeling like some idiotic freak. She probably thought he was some insensitive jerk now, but all he was trying to do was make things better.
He was just such an awkward person. He never said anything right. It never came out exactly the way he wanted it to, though he sometimes thought that if it did, he might be able to create something beautiful. But that didn't happen often. He mostly just destroyed things by accident instead.
Violet could feel her heart beat slowing down a little bit, she was starting to calm down, very slowly, but surely to the point where she could at least feel a little bit comfortable around him, for the time being. But there was still that awkward tension where neither one of them were speaking more than a couple of phrases to each other. This was clearly going to be a lot more difficult than she thought, but all she wanted in the end was there to be no more quarrels or awkwardness between them.
She was still trying though to keep up a conversation with him, so that there wouldn't be this terribly awkward silence. Violet took a breath and was about to ask him about what made him choose a Prince out a fairy tale for his outfit and tell him that she liked it, although she had no idea what fairy tale he was from. She had to admit though, he did look very charming in it, almost as if he were her prince coming for her to sweep her off her feet and ride off into that wonderful sunset. But of course such things weren't so easy, for that was nothing but a distant dream.
Before she could compliment him, he had caught her completely off guard when he suddenly burst out of nowhere asking if they were okay. Why would he ask her such a question when they had barely even said more than a few words to one another. Violet knew that he must've known that things weren't alright, at least not right now, they both knew that it was going to take time for them to be completely alright.
But she did notice that after he had said that there was a look of panic on his face, which Violet figured out immediately that clearly he didn't mean to say that. That it was just something to fill the space where nothing was being said. And that phrase was quickly followed by an almost immediate apology which Violet gave him a small smile and reached out a hand touching his arm softly. Then in a friendly way she whispered,"..It's alright..."
Violet then left her hand on his arm for a few moments but then felt really awkward and said,"Umm..Sorry.." then she slowly pulled her hand back. She fiddled with her fan again and looked down at it. 'Violet, you have got to say something, this is getting nowhere..' Violet cleared her throat and said,"So...um...I like your outfit..." Violet smiled at him lightly and then said,"Who are you supposed to be?" She figured that was an at least innocent conversation to start.

As the pair of..... whatever their relationship was at that point...... stood there soaking in the horror of the silence, he realized that this was not as easy as Selina had made it out to be. He knew from the very beginning that it was going to be incredibly difficult, and that things wouldn't be solved so easily, but they'd attempted to solve their problems, none the less. Couples danced around them, friends laughed and joked, and they stood still. There seemed to be no sound, everyone else was blocked out. But unlike a half of a year ago, this wasn't anything romantic. It was scary and it was sad. It felt like colour was draining from the party, and time was at a stand still. It might as well have been, nothing was happening anyway.
This was a bad idea.
After nervously glancing around the whole room in utter concentration for what felt like a year or so, Christopher heard her mutter a statement of forgiveness for the awkward statement he'd made. Unfortunately, as much as he wished it could have been, it was not for the entire break up- that would take a lot of time. Maybe weeks. Maybe months. Maybe years. Who knew at this point?
And suddenly, out of the corner of his eye as he'd continued to nervously look at everything and everyone BUT Violet, he saw her reach out over the rather large space between them and touch his arm for a minute. His reaction was instinctive, but in retrospect seemed harsh, and probably could have hurt her. But he couldn't have helped it if he wanted to, it was automatically what his brain yelled at him to do.
A Quick Recap of A Veela's Touch Upon a Frightened Boy:
A girl and a boy stood in the middle of a crowded room. Her hand was cold, and it was the first time they'd touched in six months. It burned him like fire. He whipped his hand back, and after staring with his mouth slightly ajar in shock, he became incredibly fascinated with the state of his shoes and the floor space surrounding them.
More time passed. More silence settled between them. It was eventually broken by a compliment and a question. The girl was the one who had spoken.
"Thanks," he said with a blush, his eyes still fixated on the floor.
"I think I'm supposed to be Prince Philip. He's from an old Muggle Disney movie, if you've ever seen them, or even know what they are. It's not very British, but Selina made me wear it." It made him incredibly uncomfortable to even talk about Muggle things or people around Violet after she'd called him the M-word, even if she'd been under the influence of hate potion. It didn't make you just spurt out random insults. It made you say the things you really felt without caring. They were both incredibly guilty and were equally at fault.
And all the while, he looked like a fool. Violet was most likely mocking him in her head and just bringing it up to start conversation, because he'd been laughed at quite a lot for costume- especially the tights. He needed to stop taking advice from Selina all of the time. He loved her and she loved him as much as any pair of teenage siblings could, but she made him look like a total fool sometimes.

He needed to stop taking advice from Selina all of the time. He loved her and she loved him as much as any pair of teenage siblings could, but she made him look like a total fool sometimes.
In a way Violet couldn't help but feel like the both of them were in a small room together. Just nothing but one light shining over them, with now windows, no door, no escape from one another. It made Violet feel like she were never to escape unless she had faced this fear she was keeping bottled up inside, only then would there be an opening to this tiny room.
She noticed him looking around the room frantically still as she had done so earlier trying to avoid eye contact with her. It did make her a little upset, for she was actually trying to be able to talk to him after so long, and it seemed that he wanted nothing more than to run away from her. It was at that moment that Violet was tempted to turn and just walk away. She almost noticed his very confusing reaction after she had touched his arm, and when she saw his facial expression it made her regret touching him at all for she didn't know what he was thinking. Probably just thinking how dare a creature like herself ever touch him. He was probably just wishing she would leave and never come back, just transfer to Beauxbatons and make his life a lot easier.
Violet noticed that her attempt at striking up a conversation didn't really seem to work. Well at least she gave it a shot. Violet saw him blush and she could tell that he didn't like his outfit at all, must have been the tights. That she could understand and Violet knew that if Chris had the choice he wouldn't pick to wear an outfit that involved wearing tights as his first choice. Not unless....he had been forced to. By whom? Did Violet really even need to say. No. For she knew right away. All she could do was think about how Selina Arden Skylar really needed to stop meddling in every little thing that goes on in her friend lives.
When he was explaining to her what he was portraying Violet said lightly,"Oh alright I see..." Then when he said Muggle Violet felt herself blush a little, that awful word she had told him so coldly when they fought immediately began ringing through her ears. There was a look of guilt upon her face after she was hearing that awful word. But Violet was not the only one at fault because he told her that she was nothing more than a pretty face and that she would be only for her looks and nothing more. It repeatedly stuck a wound into her breaking heart.
Violet looked to her right seeing a couple dancing together and she noticed how happy the both of them looked. She closed her eyes and diverted her head away trying not to cry, it was in no way the time nor place for her to being doing that. Violet then opened her eyes and then said trying to change the subject,"So...umm..." nothing.
"So...this..."

"It's a cute outfit!" Sky replied. Ugh all this talking over the music was starting to hurt her throat. She was going to need a drink soon!

"Thank you!" Katrina said. Yeah, it's cute to be honest. Then Sky seemed to be thirsty so Katrina let the girl drink something from the International Buffet table. Poor girl, now Katrina needed a drink too so she sipped from her... was that a cup or a glass?

"Heeeeey...stop laughing!" Heather made a cute pout, knowing her best friend was laughing at her gloriously ruffly dress, but then she too broke into a laugh. "I think England. That was my last thought." she answered, tilting her head to her right. She sounded like she wasn't very sure of what she was wearing. "Leave it to my imaginations... or that room had just decided to dress me up like my parents do." why does everybody seem like they wanted Heather to dress up like a vintage porcelain doll anyway?
Her eyes travelled to Cass and her entire ensemble. A wild-west inspired attire more likely to represent the country of the United States. She smiled. Pants. Cass seldom wears pants. When was the last time she saw Cass wearing pants? It was waaaaaaaaaay too long ago. "I'm not guessing, you're representing America with a cowboy-inspired ensemble...it's nice to see you wearing pants Cass. It suits you very much."
"You aren't sure?" Cass asked with a smirk as she raised an eyebrow at her and crossed her arms over her chest "How are you not sure? All you had to do was think of a country and the tent came up with your costume. How could you not be sure of that?
"Huh. Weird." She simply said with a shrug. She was most certainly not imagining a pair of jeans when she entered the room, but here she was, clad in a pair of form-fitting blue jeans. Her mother would approve, weirdly enough.
Then she grinned. Good guess. She was way tired of wearing dresses anyway. Too puffy. Too heavy, too much of a hassle. "Yup, I guess the hat was a dead giveaway, yes?" What better way to represent America then a cowboy hat? Well, aside from dressing in red, white and blue stripes. Then she laughed "Thanks, I might think about wearing them more often." But, still, she was a skirt girl at heart.

Rose walked out to the dance floor, feeling slightly self-conscious about how she looked. She had worn Irish clothes before, these were her old dancing clothes, as she used to take Irish dancing, but it had been years. She had magically enlarged these, hoping it still fit, and it did. Now she just needed someone to dance with.

While Katrina partied hard, she saw her friend Rose alone. She decided to call her Gryffindor friend. "Hey Rose! Come and join me! You look alone." Katrina smiled.

"Well, I'm not quite sure if this costume is fit to represent England...but...I guess it does in a way. I have to admit...it is cute." Seems like that tent thingy did have Heather's tastes in costumes and clothing.
"Sure is." said Heather, referring to the hat. She listened as Cass went on about wearing pants more often. Cass? Pants? Often? that was...something. "I'd look forward to that." was all she could say.
she glanced around the place watching people dance and she went back to Cass. "Should we dance too?" ask. just. like. a. little. girl. Sometimes there are just so habits that are hard to break.

Then she laughed. "I'm sure mother would too." She was always pressuring her to wear other pieces of clothing that weren't skirts or dresses or anything of that sort. "It would be a nice change." She would have to remember to go shopping in muggle London soon.
Then she grinned "I don't know about you, but I've been dancing even before you got here." She answered as she swayed once more, idly recalling that muggle studies class they had.

Katrina smiled as Rose came to her. "I'm dressed in this party dress people in America wear." Katrina nodded. "Ireland, I think?" Katrina asked about Rose's outfit.

Hmm... Heather bit her lip and sort of waved her arm a little bit but retracted. She wasn't quite sure how to dance. She doesn't know how to dance alone, in fact, she wasn't what one would consider a ballerina, but she doesn't have two left feet either. It was probably because she was too shy to break into dance. Then again, what dance does she know how to do anyway?
"is that so?" she sighed. "Well...i'm trying to dance...I don't dance so well."

Cass almost laughed at the problematic expression on Heather's face. She knew the small girl wasn't one for dancing, that's why is puzzled her that she wanted to meet right in the middle of the dance floor.
"Well, that's what you get for not agreeing with me." The blonde said smugly as she danced circles around the flustered girl as she laughed merrily. Seriously, she was all for meeting by the tables. It was closer to the food anyway.
Then she took Heather's hand and spun her around, trying to let her see the fun in dancing "Come on Heather, everyone has some dancing ability in them!" She said encouragingly

"well..." heather blushed a light hue of pink in her cheeks. dancing was not really her thing, but she had to try it at some point. She can't avoid it all eternity if that was even possible. "All right..."
awkwardly, she tried, moving her arms and her legs for a bit, but she couldn't grasp the timing of the beat of the music well so she paused for a bit and tried again, repeating the same awkward moves until gradually, she was able to relax her form and her awkward moves became natural and though still lacks grace, it was accepted as a form of dance now.

Selina continued to sway with him as they spoke about the most awkward subject possible- Elektra. For Gideon seeing her must have brought up memories of his first kiss. Selina all it did was remind her of the friend who never said goodbye. What in Merlin's name had she done to make Elektra so upset that she would not speak to her? Had she hurt her in some way that Selina was unaware of? And why would she just leave without saying hello? They had been friends for so long. Merlin, Elektra spent the summer at Selina's house.
Her eyes looked back up to meet Gideon's and she said, "Yeah me too. Maybe we were just seeing things?" She doubted it.
Caroline finally made her way over to the dance floor. She was in the mood to break out a few moves. She didn't care if she was dancing along (for now hopefully) But if a slow song came on she would just head over to side and wait For someone to ask her to dance
Anyway she wanted to dance and when she heard the next song She knew she had to break out a few of her moves. She'd heard this song plenty of times in Italy. It was one of those traditional folk songs. She stared out tapping her feet. Then moving her hips and soon after that she was dancing to the music flairing her arms around kicking her feet up.

"ROSE!" Ronnie shrieked, running up to her and hugging her. "Hey buddy!" she said smiling.

She almost scoffed; that answer was just as obvious as the other! "I don't want a crepe." She didn't even know what they were, and she was sure she told him she wasn't technically German. "I'm just going to keep it. You know, like the people on the telliwission. They always have a cup of something with them." And he claimed he was a muggle.
It seemed there was alot of thinking going on in the boy's head. Maybe she should have just told him why she couldn't wear the badge. But it was so weird talking to him about it. She had had a hard enough time trying to explain to Marilyn and well, Carter didn't even give her chocolate frogs. It would be even harder! The cup of caramel was not helping.
And having Carter mention Marie was not helping either.
Didn't Marilyn mention something about Marie, too? Ehh, Destiny couldn't remember. Besides, she couldn't even talk to tell him that she was not talking about the conversation he had with Marie once he said those words. Those same words that she could remember asking Marilyn about. Her mouth opened and closed a few times, the words still not able to come out, and before she knew it, she was nodding her head and making her way towards the dance floor.
Maybe it would be easier to talk about it if they were dancing.
"It's called a television." Carter corrected. "And they're not just holding 'cups of something'... they're holding drinks." He glanced back at her caramel cup again. He wondered what she would do if he stuck a pretzel in it...
She seemed... a bit odd. Well... more so than usual. She looked... like a fish. Like a very German fish.
But the snake did nod. That was a good sign. Unlike the rest of the girls he knew, she was willing to talk.
He followed her to the dance floor. "I'm sorry Des. She just came outta nowhere with it. I didn't know what to say." And so he lied to Marie in the hopes that the girl would quit bothering him about her ridiculous theory.
He stopped once they reached the dance floor and held out a hand to her. "Come on. Say something. I don't want the first time you actually agree to a dance to be awkward."
