Caroline waited for Adam, they were going to trade off each others hate potions for their potions homework. Yes, Caroline and Adam disliked each other but it was in a brother/sisterly dislike for each other. And she had no idea who else to use it on. There was no way she was going to make Kita take another potion for her again. The polyjuice cause enough problems for them last term.

And if it got to bad they would just go back to their brother/sisterly dislike or whatever it was. But it was true, they did deep down care about each other. Adam was Caroline's fake little brother until she found out that she did have a little brother but that was besides the point.

Now where was that little lion man at.

Adam tied his jacket closer to his skin in the cold weather.Him an Caroline had agreed to do the hate potion on each other,although,they didn't really need the hate potion to hate each other.

"You needed to use me for evil."He told her in a smug voice as he approached her.Could've choosen a more colder place to do this.It's freezing out here"Adam snapped as he warmed his hands by rubbing them together an putting them in his pocket.

"I have the potion for you to take an get poisoner by.Don't worry,I still love you.""He told her sticking his tongue out at her,she wouldn't take it seriously,he knew.Adam then pulled out a little flask of the potion an wiggled it in his hnd to show it to her.

Caroline smirked as she seen the younger Gryffindor boy walking toward her. She laughed a bit when he started complaining about the cold. Why dont he go live it the dungeons for a night. Like he would last there.

"I've got mine right here" She pulled a vile out of her back pocket handing it over to him.

He stared at his little flask,an raised an eyebrow then peered over the cap an looked at Caroline."Promise,that when we are done with this homework assignment we'll still love/hate each other,just not as extreme hate as we will have right now."It was vital that they understand that.The two of them had first meet each other an had done it with markers all over their face,if they went to being best friends who never fought the world had turned upside down.

With a gentle hand he opened the flask an had the potion swash over in the glass,waiting for Caroline's answer an then opening of her bottle.

Caroline watched Adam with the little flask in his hand. She could have nearly squealed when he pretty much she that he liked her or cared about her. It was hard to tell where the picking ended. Nodding with a little grin. "of course we will."

Taking the flask away from him. She opened the top and downed the potion in a few seconds. She could feel her anger building up inside of her. All the annoying little things that boy did. "Wipe that ridiculous grin off your face will you?" The Slytherin hissed. It was a very annoying look he had with that grin.

Before he could even drink his potion she had already barked at him.So that's how it was going to be then."I'm not grinning,I'm smirking,it's a big difference."He snapped,then he took his swig of his whole potion an could feel this warm blood rising in his veins.

"Slytherins!They think they can boss everyone around!I don't know if you haven't noticed Miss Prissy Girly Girl,I'm too weak save me,girl,but Slytherins don't rule this school,this world.You've got it all wrong!Gryffindor's are supieor!"He snapped ay her smirking some more at his own comment.

"How's Carter doing?"He asked,wishing to fuel the flame that had probably been bubbling over that feeling in her.OH WAIT....."He added with a evil grin.

Having just finished her lunch, Louisa was heading out for the courtyard. Many complicated reasons lie behind heading out in such a freezing weather but the girl did not want to dwell in them in her head. All she wanted these days was to keep away from emotional breakdowns and crying. Not that she'd cried lately but the circumstances sure were dragging her into that state.

ANYWAY, going out might bring her nose to nose with Joao, that boy who goes invisible once he tells a girl that he wants to be her boyfriend. THAT would boost up her mood for good.

Caroline glared at Adam before speaking. "Slytherins? Slytherins? What's wrong with US Slytherins? And I'm not a prissy girl. Prissy Boy." She smirked. Gryffindor superior? She tried not to laugh.

How's Carter doing?

Why on earth would Adam bring that up. Was he jealous? "A heck of alot better than your going to be?" She cocked her hand back and slapped him in the face. "Yeah, Kurumi wasn't the only one who thinks you deserved that."

Adam was bundled up from head to toe, jogging slightly to try and get out of the cold weather. He'd needed something to help wake him up so that he could get focused on his studying and the cold weather seemed to be just the trick! He was walking along the corridor when he spotted Louisa...at least that was who he thought it was, but the girl was looking pretty dejected and that didn't seem like Louisa. However as he got closer he was positive that that was Louisa, so he took a couple of steps closer to her, stopping once he reached her.

"Hey Louisa," Adam said with a warm smile. "What are you doing out here? It's freezing out!"

Oh..I don't know.I think all the Slytherins are demented in their own way.!!Especially you,out of all people YOU ARE THE MOST DEMENTED SLYTHERIN I'VE EVER HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET!"He yelped right in her face.

He could see her pause when he had asked about Carter,he had just cornered her an she was stuck there for good.Then when she had slapped him that had been too much for him.His second slap in less than a year,in less than four months.We are doing fine!Thank you!She forgave me!We are in a good spot now!Unlike you!You have taken it too far!"He said maddened,as he whipped his hands out an pushed her so roughly that she fell down to the ground,her head smacking against the hard cement.

Louisa wanted to run the opposite way once Adam came into her sight. He was jogging.. and HAPPY. She returned his smile, however, and shrugged. "I can wander around in any weather condition, can't I?" She adjusted her woolen cap and gestured at him, "Why are you jogging around?" Mm? And why wasn't his oh-so-lucky girlfriend jogging with him, passing every few minutes to charge him up with a freakin' kiss?

Adam's smile faded almost instantaneously when he noticed Louisa's rather sour mood. She practically snapped at him at being able to be outside if she wanted to be. "Well of course you can be outside if you want...I'm not trying to tell you different. I was just wondering." When Louisa snapped at Adam again wondering why he was out here Adam frowned and took a couple of steps back from her. "I was trying to wake myself up before I go back to studying..." Clearly Louisa was not in the mood to talk, and rather than feeling like a friend talking to a friend, he felt like he was talking to someone that hated him.

"Well...I guess I'll let you be then," Adam said after an awkward pause. If she didn't want to chat with him that was fine, even though Adam had no idea what he'd done to make Louisa so mad at him. He thought they were starting to get on good terms after the hate potion after-conversation and the prank against Vashti. Guess he was mistaken....

Caroline stared at her hand for a minute. Did she actually just smack him? Like Seriously smacked him. "Oh YEAH AND YOUR THE POSTER BOY OF A GRYFFINDOR. SO BRAVE ARE WE RUNNING AWAY TO MEXICO?"

The words were following out of her mouth. And before she knew it Adam was pushing her. And he pushed her all the way to the ground. Hitting her head on the cement. She lay there not moving.

Louisa rolled her eyes at him. There he went all touchy at her words, she wasn't being mean to him pfffft why would she? She didn't care whether he had a girlfriend or not! She was just...being horrible. *mellow*

"Adam, stop it, okay?" She said finally moving over to the edge that overlooked the courtyard, "I can't be happy and nice all the time." Especially when he had a girlfriends of his own that he still HADN'T told her about it.

....why was the girlfriend issue stuck in her head?

"I met your friend Polly the other day." Yesterday actually and yes, she'd just called him by his girly name. He called her Helen all the time!

When Louisa rolled her eyes at him Adam let out a little scoff. "Well that's fine. I understand that not everyone is a good mood all the time, but a little warning every now and then would be nice." Yeah...perhaps it was a bit bold of Adam to be so much more forward than he used to be, but in all honesty he had changed a lot since their hate potion incident, and instead of trying to hide how he felt he was going to be more open, and well, he supposed Louisa would either appreciate that or hate it. That was up to her to decide.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Adam offered, figuring if she really was in a bad mood than maybe she wanted to get some things off of her chest. Unless of course she wasn't in a bad mood in general, and that he had in fact done something to make her angry. And here was Adam...back in his usually confused position. Being a boy stunk.

When Louisa mentioned that she had met Polly Adam's eyebrows furrowed. Who was Polly? Adam didn't know any Pollies. Wait...did she mean Paulie? "Do you mean Paulie?" Adam asked with a little chuckle. "How did you two meet?" Paulie was Adam's best mate so he was glad that the two had finally met, but for some reason Adam was feeling that Louisa wasn't as excited about this incident as he was. "So...what do you think of him? He's my best mate after all, so I hope you like him."

A little warning? She raised an eyebrow, "People in bad moods don't give warning. It's up to their friends to figure it out and act like it." Close friends who don't have girlfriends taking up all of their big heads. "I'm not in a bad mood, by the way." No, really, she wasn't in a bad mood.. she was in a mood that caused her to feel not-so-good and that was very different.

Talk about it? HA! As if. No. "Yes, I'd like to.." WHAT? Her tongue was totally on its own in this. "You see, I actually didn't feel very good this morning. I'm having a headache that's preventing me from study and all.. it all makes me uncomfortable." No comment about this stupid explanation.

HIS BEST MATE? The girl in pink almost dozed off... the Paulie boy with crying American accent was correct HE was Adam's best mate. That was...a bummer. "Yeah, that's the one." Did she like him? Weeeeeell, "He's fine. He's just weird... he keeps calling me Helen, for one, and has independent facial muscles.." Even if that last bit was sarcasm, Louisa was going to act dumb, "But the thing I really liked about him was that he never fails to say the first thing come to his mind. Like telling me about Ruby and your first date." Was it Rubeiy? Louisa didn't care, she just said it carelessly and looked away at the courtyard.

When Louisa snapped back another answer at Adam about friends being able to tell when their friends were in a bad mood and act accordingly Adam decided not to respond. Perhaps it was best to just let this go in order to spare the two a petty argument that really wasn't necessary. Adam was in a pretty good mood and he didn't want to let something so silly get him down. When she said she wasn't in a bad mood and that she just had a headache, Adam gave a little nod. "I'm sorry...that sucks." He had no idea what she meant about it all making her uncomfortable, but she figured if Louisa wanted him to know what she meant by that, she would in fact tell her, and seeing how not so well their conversation had been going so far Adam figured it was best to just not push the matter. If she was ever wanting to share, Adam was here for her.

When Louisa mentioned that Paulie kept calling her Helen Adam's eyebrows went up slightly. Wow...had Paulie told her all about the whole conversation they had that had brought about Louisa's nickname? He figured not since Louisa didn't seem to understand why he kept doing it, but Adam didn't really know how to explain it to her without her getting upset...not to mention it would be stirring up stuff that Adam figured they had stirred up enough lately. "Yeah...he's not always the best with names," Adam said with a little chuckle. Wow...that was a complete lie, but really, it was much simpler than trying to explain everything to her, wasn't it? When Louisa mentioned his independent facial muscles Adam laughed again. "Independent facial muscles, huh? Or just an inability to hide what he's feeling is more like it."

As Louisa began to say that she liked how opened he was Adam began to nod, opening his mouth to agree with her when the next words that came out of her mouth caused him to leave his mouth hanging open like a doofus. So Paulie had told her about the date between him and Rubiey? Why in the world would he do that? Oh...he knew why...Paulie was probably trying to make Louisa jealous...and wait...Adam closed his mouth...so this was why Louisa was in such a sour mood to him. "Well Rubiey and I met right after our hate potion incident, so..." Yeah...it was hard to mention a girl when Louisa and him weren't really speaking to one another. "I figured I'd wait until after I saw how our first date went to say anything...you know...in case it flopped or something." Um...yeah. That was about as good an explanation as Adam could give. After all, he hadn't maliciously kept it from Louisa.

"It does." She agreed with him lamely. Headaches did suck though, especially the ones that were fake.. like hers. Anyway, she nodded at Paulie's bad memory, "I figured this much. Although Helen is way different than Louisa." The girl stared at the ground thoughtfully, Paulie boy was a mystery indeed.

So it was Rubiey. Interesting. Louisa nodded, forcing a smile, "It's okay, Adam. I got that.." She shifted and faced him. "Although I'd appreciate it if you mentioned getting closer to a girl when we met after the hate potion. Hearing it from your best mate makes me feel.." She pouted, "..away. Out of our friendship zone." True.

Her other feelings, on the other hand, were to remain a secret. Despite her sourness, annoyance and disappointment Adam's happiness was worth it. He'd been through so much, his parents kicking him out, Louisa shouting at him and Joao wasn't really the nicest friend anyone would die to befriend. She thought about it all morning while she had that fake headache and was determined to like this girl... maybe even be her friend!

...naah, let's just not get carried away, shall we?

"I CAME BACK!"He snapped at her.Had she not seen him back here at Hogwarts,was she blind.Adam was fuming on the inside,at least more fuming than the potion actually allowed.

His mind started to crumble,face growing more an more pale,almost ghostly colored as he saw Caroline laying motionless on the floor.Wonderful,his second time accidentally hurting someone this year.Picking up his flask that he had dropped onto the ground he stared at the empty bottle."Stupid thing..Look what you made me do to someone I love/hate..."He spoke madly to it,hoping that it had heard an would undo the damage he an the potion had made him do.

"Caro-Caroline..Let-let me t-t-take you to the hospi-hospital."He stammered silently,helping her up,an holding her gently.Never would he have imagined his potions homework going so far.

Carter was on his way outside when he noticed something that caught his eye -- Caroline.

She was with Adam - one of Carter's teammates.

He was about to just wave in greeting and continue on his way when he stopped suddenly. Merlin! Why was Caroline smacking Adam?

Next thing he knew Caroline hit the ground. Before he had time to question what he was doing he rushed over to Caroline and knelt next to her. He glared at the 5th year Gryffindor.

"ADAM! WHAT did you do?" he bellowed before giving Caroline a gentle little shake.

He'd seen what had happed, so he knew exactly what Adam did. It was more of a why and we're going to have a serious talk later kind of statement.

Adam's eyes went big when he saw his Quidditch Captain rush over to his side an kneel beside Caroline.Great!He was in for it.He was asking for trouble without having the intention of wanting to cause trouble.

He crawled two steps back,quite frightened by Carter's loud demanding tone.His captain,the nice guy,bellowing at Adam."Don't shake her.I heard you have to keep the person still,don't move them."Adam responded flustered.But his suggestion would probably enrage Carter more,he would tell Adam he wouldn't have needed to shake her if Adam hadn't hurt her.

"It was the potion.The hate potion.She slapped me an I pushed her.You kn-you know I would never hurt anyone..."

Carter's stern voice an face,an worried expression over Caroline told Adam everything he needed to know.His dreams of being on the team would be soon extinguished.

"So you hit her?!" Carter asked in an exasperated tone. Merlin! What was going on in that kid's mind. He completely ignored the fact that he accidently snogged someone whilst on a potion.

WHAT did he just say? He took a second to glare at the 5th year again. "I know that. My parents are doctors. Merlin!" he shot back at the kid before turning his attentions to Caroline. You'd think that Adam just saw Carter attempt to shake the life back into Caroline or something.

He'd just given her a gentle nudge to see if she'd come to.

"Do I know that Burn?" he asked. Oh yeah. He was demoted to last-name-usage. He'd never really had a conversation with the boy before. He didn't know anything.

He kept looking at Caroline for any sign of movement while he spoke at Adam Burn.

He then turned at gaped at him. "It is never okay to hit girls! Especially if they hit you first!" Seriously... who taught this kid anything?

Ohhh... as soon as he knew Caroline was alright...

Adam kneeled silently as Carter asked if he had hitten her.Well,he had,but not for a purpose,it hadn't really come from him,but from the effect the potion had been creating in his body.

"I didn't know.I didn't know they were doctors.I'm sorry.I was just suggesting it."Adam told him in a still flustered tone.Now,here was Caroline,motionless an Adam an Carter,teammate against Captain arguing over her body.Was this the time.

"Talk to me later..I think Caroline is way more important now.I'll always be here for you later..Caroline needs us...No..She needs you "

She had hit him.But Carter was right,potion or not Adam had decided to do it with a girl,he should've at least attempted to keep any physical pain out of the whole homework assignment.

"I'm sorry..I'm more than sorry,an you're right.I shouldn't have hit her,no matter what.."

Adam gave a little frown when Louisa said that she felt like she was out of the loop. He certainly hadn't been trying to make her feel out of the loop, and what was worse was Adam was getting the impression that Louisa felt like he was closer than Paulie than with her, which wasn't true at all. "I'm sorry...I just wasn't sure if that was the right thing to bring up during our first conversation in a week or so when we had said some pretty nasty things," Adam said with a bit of a frown. "But...now that we're all good again I can tell you anything you want to know...if you're interested that is." Really Adam had no idea what Louisa would and wouldn't want to know about the new girl in his life. A part of him suspected that Louisa didn't really want to know anything, which was why she had been in such a sour mood when they first ran into each other, but if Adam knew Louisa like he thought he did than he was sure that she was going to be happy for him even if that meant that she herself wasn't happy for him.

"And Louisa....Paulie is my best mate and you're my best friend. We share everything, but Paulie is a dude and well...there are some things that I feel like I need to discuss with another guy that will be as blunt as Paulie is," Adam said with a little smirk. "But don't ever think that I value his friendship more than yours, because I don't. Both of your friendships are equally as important to me." Adam wasn't sure if that was a concern of Louisa's or not, but he felt like it was a good thing to get out there in case Louisa was having any questions about the importance of their friendship in Adam's life.
