A corner of the boyish witch's mouth turned up in what looked like deep thought in the matter. "All my books are in m-"

A lightbulb seemed to flash above her head as, the girl's eyes lit up. "Why not just test it aye?" her grin turned a bit michevious as she walked, or rather sneaked to the ravvie table



Coming back to the Slytherin table, Eris sat down back at her spot with a sort of nodding of the head as though she had solved one question but was now bored and waiting for another.

"I'm Eris by the way" she smiled in a friendly manner, "I am actually a Slytherin as well" she added jabbing a thumb at her green tide with a little newfound pride.

Maria smiled. "I'll introduce myself properly" she said. "My name is Maria Catalina Alexandria Charday-Ferguson. My mother is Catarina Charday, a well known Italian actress, my father, Jacob, is a sculptor, my aunt-slash-stepmother is a world-known painter, Willow Charday, and my cousin-slash-stepsister, Adrianna Charday, inherited Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve" she said, for once keeping her tone polite, not bitter when she said her mother and father's names.

Melania smiled at her. "Well, here you go." She handed her a CLEAN plate and spoon. "I just cleaned these and it looks you should get some food in your system. What do you like?" Melania proceeded to start putting food on her plate. She smiled again, "When was the last time you ate?"

"Oh, I'm Melania by the way. But you can call me Lana."

Kennedy wasn't going to get into all the: 'My dad is an evil Slytherin guy so I didn't want to be one' now. There were lots of people present. "I guess not," he said, mostly trying to convince himself. He grinned when she nudged him. It was nice of her to try to cheer him up. "I know two people in my house, so it shouldn't too bad." There. A positive thought.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk," Kennedy shook his head. "What if they are protesting Hogwarts?" he said. What if the elves didn't want to cook and clean for a bunch of teenagers anymore, eh?

"Thanks," he murmured and mimicked her action with the rest of his cutlery.

Kennedy nodded his head to agree with her statement, but as soon as she spoke she left.

Did he say something wrong? Eh. Maybe she wanted to go meet with her other friends. What a nice little girl to at least give him advice. He grinned and waved back at her.

"Did your family have another preference?" Okay, it was Ash's turn to ask silly questions, since she probably wouldn't have said that otherwise. He was just bad at conversation, which included smooth transitions into other topics. "I'm pretty sure my mother would've had a heart attack if I didn't get in. I'm still thinking about writing her a letter and telling her I'm a Hufflepuff or something." Oh yes, that thought still tickled him greatly.


Just as Ashley was about to suggest asking Persephone, since she was the one who'd started off the whole topic, the new girl was taking off for another table, his eyes following her with great interest. What would happen? Would there be scoldings? Or at least some people looking very put out about it? Maybe there was some kind of magic forcefield that would keep her from even approaching the table.
Buuuut... nope. Well, that was a bit of a letdown. Perhaps one day he would have friends at those other tables, and would therefore be glad to know that he could join them if he wanted, but right now he was expecting a little more excitement in the experiment.

Still, he smiled, rather impressed that she'd done it in the first place. That was pretty cool. "I'm Ashley. Do you usually just go off and... do things like that?"

Lorelai raised her eyebrows when Maria went through her family. Ooookay then. Why did she need to know that? She listened anyway. Or at least part listened. The rest was thinking about what colour to paint her nails and how much glitter she should use in her bronzer tomorrow. That seemed to be all that filled her mind. Apart from world domination and proving that she was the one people should look up to. Yeah, she was going to have fun at Hogwarts. It should've been interesting to see how many people actually tried to make themselves seem better than her. In her mind, no one was. Except maybe her mother. A struggling musician? Lorelai was going to do a lot better than her failing mother in that department. She thought she was a WAY better singer. Her voice was younger. She wasn't as experienced but still.

Was Maria done yet? Ah. Yes she was. "Your mother's name rings a bell but I'm more into the music scene. So if you know anyone who's made it, let me know. My mother could do with some tips" she replied. Well that didn't sound very polite at all. She had just been given Maria's family history which she was blatantly un-interested in. She sighed and took her nail file out and filed her nails. "So, what genre does your mum specialise in?" she asked. She'd better seem just a little interested. She didn't want to offend the girl on the first meeting. Now that would just be against all morals and that would simply be no good. No good at all.

Aurora smiled, "See, there's always something good." Her never ending optimism could be catchy sometimes, though she suspected that there was something still bothering him. "Oh, who else do you know?" she asked playing with the end of her curly red hair.

"Oh no... I need it to be clean for... well... for everything. I mean, you can't make a potion if there's stray dust in the air. It contaminates it..." she said. "I just hope that Tate gets it sorted..." she added, a very slight scowl on her pale face.

"You're welcome." She grinned, putting her wand away. "So, what lesson are you looking forward to the most?" she asked Kennedy.

I'll eat anything to be honest Lysandra chuckled. Thank you she said and took the clean plate the girl offered. I thin the last time I ate was before I boarded the train to come here and I didn't even think about getting anything from the trolly she answered and looked around the table to see what she would like to eat. Since she wasn't a picky girl, she grabbed a little bit of everything.

While both girls put food on their plates, the younger of the two, what it seemed like to Lysandra seeing as she's never seen her before, introduced herself. Nice to meet you Lana, I'm Lysandra she introduced and put a forkful of food, after cleaning it a bit, into her mouth.

Eris quickly covered her mouth as she was about to let out a playful chuckle, turning a bit pink around the cheeks. "Ashley is a cool name..." she added earnestly,"I was rather used to seeing it as a girls name..........not that I'm one to talk..." she gave a humored grin at the last part.

Being the pot calling the kettle black, the number of times Eris had been called "Young Man" in Diagon alley compared to any female name was at a fine ratio of about 7:2.

Eris considered what he asked for a moment before responding, "I guess..." she started, never really thinking of her frank habits to be strange, "It makes life more interesting, no?" she added before grabbing a piece of bread to bite, but with inspection of some mold on it decided against it.

"It goes against my code of honor to turn down a dare." the tiny witch gave a small laugh, placing the bread back down on her plate.

Maria could tell in an instant that Lorelai wasn't listening at all. But she pretended not to notice. "My sister's gonna try to go professional with singing, and her fiancee is a great guitarist. Adrianna Charday and Justin Hendricks" she said. She sighed and shrugged. "I don't know and I honestly don't care. I don't live with her. She's cruel and abusive, as is my father. So do you really think I give a damn about my parents?" she said, her temper starting to rise.

It was Eris, the boy from the train! And there was another boy sitting with him. Maddy went and joined. "You got into Slytherin, congrats. Slytherin's the best house at Hogwarts" Maddy said.

Maddy giggled. "Oh right, that reminds me I have to write back to my parents telling them I got an owl!". She had bought an owl in diagon ally without her parents knowing. "This'll be a surprize for Mother when she fetches the mail".

She nodded, "And the dirty silverware might be part of it. I heard the house elves are on strike." she said looking around trying to spot on elf. If this was just the opening feast what would the rest of the term be like? Would her bed be clean?! A panicked look ran across her face as she thought of the horror of dirty sheets. "My cousin taught me to some hexes if I need to defend myself," she whispered to Regulus. Well it was more like she was on the receiving end of some of those hexes and figured out how they worked. Jungles were dangerous were they not?

Harlow nodded, "I will make sure we have clean cups." She was NOT going to spend her first year at Hogwarts eating off dirty dishes. Good thing she had a tin of her mom's homemade coco mix. She had a feeling she was going to need it.

Her eyes widened. Were they really going to cuff some of the Hufflepuff students? She wasn't sure if she wanted to join in or dive under the table. Harlow wasn't a natural rule breaker and she was scared of being in trouble. She didn't know how to properly pout her way out of it like her brothers and her baby sister Persia. "Are you really going to cuff a Hufflepuff student?" she asked.

Lorelai continued filing her nails. She'd never noticed how pretty her nail varnish actually was until she took proper notice of them. Weird. Kind of unusual considering she took pride in her appearance. She looked up at Maria and smiled slightly then turned her attention back to her now perfect nails. There. Just the way she wanted them to be. Though she really needed to change the colour. But what colour to use. That depended on her mood. If she was going to meet many more people like Maria, probably a slightly darker color. If not, a light color maybe? She'd figure that out in the morning.

Lorelai looked up when Maria mentioned someone going professional. Yeah, she didn't know any of them but it didn't matter. She had competition already. Not good. The spotlight was hers and no one else's. No one was going to steal her spotlight. Not on her watch. "I hope she's successful" she said. Hmm, how untruthful was that? But she was very convincing. Even the most unconvicible people could be convinced of her lies. That was how good she was. And stiff competition had to be knocked out of the way. She simply had to have the spotlight. She wouldn't even let her mother have it. Which was probably half the reason she wasn't very successful.

Umm! Okay, time to switch off again. But she had to at least seem a little interested. Once again. "I guess something's just aren't meant to be" she replied referring to Maria's relationship with her mother. If that wasn't clear then she must have been pretty daft not to realise it. But then most people found it difficult to keep up with what she meant. From previous experiences that was.

"Best house?" Eris repeated curiously. She still knew a good next to nothing about this proclaimed 'best house', though the pride in heart told her where she would stand on the matter should Eris ever be asked.

Apparently Maddy did have some information pre-sorting. "I see you did as well..." Eris added with a friendly smile, "Was your family also sorted in this house?"

Lana giggled. "Yeah, it'll be good for you to get anything in your system." She smiled as the girl thanked. "Anytime, we're part of a family now," she laughed.

"Lysandra, what a pretty name." She took a bite of her pork chop. "Have you been to Hogwarts before?" she asked.

Did she just laugh? Alright, not quite. But what did happen was suspicious enough. Actually, it had been quite a while since the last time Ashley had anyone have any kind of amused reaction to his name. He'd almost forgotten that such a thing could happen.
"Ashley is a perfectly fine boy's name," he said, though it honestly didn't bother him all that much. It was better than his actual name, anyway. There was just something so much more embarrassing about it that made Ashley seem damn nice in comparison.
"And anyway, that wasn't a dare," he pointed out. "Although, that's good to know... What other kinds of things have you done on a dare?"
No, he wasn't already trying to come up with any of his own to issue. Of course not.


Ashley peered over at the other person who appeared to be Dare-girl's friend, hoping she didn't think he was nosy for butting into the conversation. "Your parents don't know you have an owl? What do they think you have?"

There was...like meeting people that didn't bully for example. "Fee...Feenella," he said. He didn't know how to pronounce her last name, hopefully Aurora knew who he was talking about. Plus, how many Feenella's could there be at Hogwarts?

True, true. Kind of like in his Chemistry class. Desks had to be clean before they did any experiments, BUT elves did deserve to take a break once in a while...although he really didn't like dusty places. Dust made his nose feel funny. "Well, what if elves don't want to clean after us? The Headmaster can't make them...can he?" Elves were...no, they weren't humans, but they did have feelings...right?

He really didn't know what lesson he was looking forward to. His godfather had told him DADA was a very important class, so he could learn how to defend himself, but then his cousin Bianca said that CoMC was the most important because he would get to learn about magical creatures. "I'm not sure, but you make Potions sound interesting," he admitted, his cheeks tinting a bit. A nasty habit they had.

It did though. Since Aurora had shown him that cool looking book on the train, Kennedy has wondered about the uses for them and if he could get one of those books, too.

Maria was finally sick of it. "For your information, Adrianna is practically on her deathbed from illness" she said loudly. Then this chick crossed the line. "Yu know, you could at least have some sympathy. My family, my sister's fiance's family, and my boyfriend have all dealt with neglact or abuse of some kind." she said furiously as tears stung her eyes.

Eris lowered her head, with a bit of childish shame expressed on her face, though her grin was hard to fade. "Mhmm, plus Ash is a cool nick name...you can't really make anything out of 'Eris'." she gave a pause before continuing, E, Eri, Ris. Nope. Though she couldn't help but think her mother named her such for that very purpose.

"What have I done?" Well this was certainly another matter to ponder over. She's picked up a snake....and got bitten, went into the men's restroom...but they believed her so it was rather anticlimactic. Many things over many years to say the least.

"Erm....as long as it isn't completely immoral...though these 'dares' really just started out as me amusing my kid brother, he'd ask me to do random things....like pick up a spider or hide my mum's wand."

Eris felt a bit strange as she realized this explanation. Being a home schooled pureblood and first of sibilings to go to Hogwarts, there wasn't exactly many people you could play with the first eleven years of your life.

Angelina nodded at Maria, and looked down at the floor, then back up at Maria. "Well I bet you will love Slytherin anyways." Angelina then walked away back to her seat.

"My Father told me that many of the greatest wizards in history came from Slytherin, my whole family on my dad's side has been in Slytherin for centuries." Maddy said.
"She doesn't think I have anything" said Maddy. "I bought an owl in Diagon Ally without telling her, she's a muggle and still a little ticked about having "Witches and Wizerds in the family". She'll freak when she finds out how we deliver our mail!" Maddy began forking through the cutlery, looking for some that was clean, ish.

Hmm. What else could she make sure was in prestine condition. Her hair and make-up? Yeah, that seemed like a good idea. Lorelai put her nail file away and took her mirror out. Checking her reflection, she tilted the mirror slightly. Three guesses what she was looking for. Every new girl had to look for at least one good looking guy. And there were likely to be a fair few around Hogwarts too. It was a huge castle. But the statistics of it weren't ever going to be in her mind so for now, she'd have to just look around. And, umm, get to know a few guys? Make-up? Perfect. Not too much. Not too little. Just right for her. Next, her hair. Which wasn't as tidy as it was when she did it that morning. She tidied it up and put the mirror away. There we go. All done.

O no she didn't just snap at her. Lorelai raised her eyebrows at the girl. Not a good idea. Now she was pushing it. As if giving her the family history wasn't enough. Now she was practically asking for sympathy? That wasn't going to happen. She'd just met the girl and she didn't have the faintest idea who this Adrianna person was. So why should she sympathise over someone she didn't know? Lorelai NEVER did that. "Let me get this straight, you tell me this girl wants to go professional and you expect me to guess she's ill? I'm not a mind reader, Miss Charday" she replied in a tone that wasn't harsh but it wasn't polite either. Being harsh did not look good on her. But neither did being polite. So she'd meet in the middle.

And now she definitely was asking for sympathy. Same again, she'd just met her. Why on Earth would she show sympathy? For a start, she's never been in any situation like it before. And she'd never met anyone who'd been in that situation before either so how was she meant to react? Lorelai shook her head trying to avoid rolling her eyes. "Look, I've only just met you. You know nothing about me. I'm not the sympathetic type. Especially when it comes to stuff I've never experienced before. Least of all when someone's I don't even know goes and tells me something like that" she replied. Now her temper was rising. Calm down, Lorelai. She's not worth it she thought silently to herself. "...And you can't expect me to understand. Understand?" she added. This girl was going to get on her temper, wasn't she? Great. She had tears in her eyes. Lorelai sighed deeply. And there was no way she was going to apologise either. She hadn't technically done anything wrong so she didn't have anything to apologise for. Looks like we have another girl with an attitude on our hands she thought in her head.

"Food?" Sarah asked, staring at the now full plates, SCORE!!!

She looked at the silverware just as Lana was doing and wrinkled her nose in distaste, "Yuck, I sure hope not."


"I'm sorry about that," Sarah said sincerely, "Lysandra is such a cool name!" she said beginning to serve herself some food, "I've never heard of it before, but really sounds nice. And it's nice to meet you too!"

Sarah turned back to Lysandra, "Yeah, I'm a first year. Totally new, and a muggleborn to boot," she said cheerfully, "I assume you're not so new to this?"

The greatest wizards of all time?

Well if that didn't sound like good news, Eris didn't know what could be better, making a mental note to owl her parents before she went to bed that night. Hogwarts had an Owelry, right? Once she found it then.

"I'm not sure if I have any relatives in Slytherin...." the witch began thoughtfully. "My dad was a Ravenclaw and my mum used to live abroad..." Though from the talk of purebloods around the Slytherin table, Eris was sure her mum would have fit in nicely should she have attended Hogwarts.

Aurora smiled, "Oh! Fee Schwarzberg?!" Yes, she met Fee. Fee was the only person she'd come across in Hogwarts who could speak fluent German.

Elves not wanting to clean? "Are you kidding? House Elves love to clean!" Everyone knows that... She knew that people had campaigned for House Elf Rights but there was no support from the house elves themselves... They just didn't want it. "I guess Tate can sort it out, I mean, he's kind of their master I suppose..."

"That's because it is interested! It's like, the best subject here!" she said, her eyes twinkling as they always did when she was talking about something she loved. Awww, he was blushing! How cuuuute. "Though I'm hoping DADA is going to be good this year too!" she added. "Oh, and Herbology. Herbology is great." she said quickly. After all, you can't have a potion without ingredients!
