As Jayden sat down between Nate and Pam, he cast a look across to Pam along with a small shrug. "what are you expecting?" Nate asked, "Does it involve sweets at all?"

Pam looked over at Nate and smiled. "I love sweets," Pam said. "Is she sending any letters or anything?" Pam felt weird about prying, but she was happy, and didn't have much care. She sipped more of her apple juice.

"Yeah, she's sending letters... and most likely some sort of nice clothes.. as if I didn't have enough already!" Jayden replied with a sigh... "She likes to keep up appearances.. it's important to my mum.

"I know you do." Nate said quickly to Pam.

Nate turned to Jayden and lowered his voice so only he, Pam, and Jayden could hear him say, "Does that have anythin to do with--with the fact that you're a pureblood?"

"Yes...My family, is actually pretty well known, and they like to keep it that way. I've been dragged to pretty much every wizarding social gathering imaginable, and because we have so much money, I pretty much get everything I want, and more. Which is nice and all.. but I wish they actually wanted to spend time with me instead of making up for lost time by showering me with money and gifts." Jayden whispered back. "So... what're you guys going to do for Christmas? Are you both staying here, or going home to visit?" Jayden asked curiously, while playfully ruffling Nate's hair with her hand.

"My mom said I could choose weither or not I want to stay here, or go back home. I just have to make sure I send a letter, telling her what's going on." She said happily daydreaming about all the snow that is to come.

Christmas. Natehad forgotten about Christmas! He had no idea what he was doing, as his family probably thought he would be staying at Hogwarts until summer. Nate chose to, instead, ask Jayden her situation. "Well, what are you doing? Going back with your family, I suppose? According to what you've just said, there must be a load of Christmas parties to go to?" Nate asked Jayden, giggling as she played with his hair.

Gaby skipped happily down to the table and was greeted by the lovely sight of clean silverware and a whole room full of food. Absolutely brilliant - she could get used to this. It was great. Plus, classes must be starting soon, too. She couldn't wait for that. She already felt a little behind her fellow students, who had spent the feast demonstrating their wonderful magical skills. Hopefully she would catch up pretty soon. In the meantime, she would just read all her spellbooks. Again.

Now then... there was the small dilemma of where to sit. She scanned the room and saw a couple of her friends from the feast, but she didn't want to interrupt anything. Perhaps she should just sit alone? But that seemed a little depressing. And lonely. So instead, she just stood there, slightly awkwardly.

Kat shuffled into the great hall, mouth agape. Ever since she made it to Hogwarts she had been speechless at how beautiful it was. There were so many things she hadn't seen before; so many things she wouldn't believe if she wasn't seeing before her very eyes. As she walked into the great hall she surveyed the room, looking for her fellow Ravens. Making her way over to the table she chose a spot in the middle.

All the food spread before her looked delicious! She grabbed a few small cakes and poured herself a cup of tea and ate quietly, looking around to see if there was anyone she recognized. Brushing a lock red hair behind her ear she took a sip of tea and choked . Sputtering she gulped down a few more mouthfuls of tea and cleared the obstruction. With a sigh of relief, she attended once again to her cake.

Basil walked down the Ravenclaw table looking for a place to sit. He had been feeling rather lonely since arriving at Hogwarts and hoped he would make friends soon. His family was far from being a warm bunch of people, but at this point even they seemed like a much better prospect than being so unfamiliar with his surroundings.

Seeing there was an empty spot next to a girl eating cake and tea he went to sit down.

A little disconcerted at seeing the girl choke and not knowing if it would be proper to give her a good pat on the back Basil nervously said, "A-are you okay?" Hoping she didn't die while he sat next to her. If she died right after he sat next to her it would give him an awful reputation. Then he would never make any friends and he would die a lonely old man. He was so preoccupied worrying about the girl dying he didn't even notice that she stopped choking until he was sure he had been staring at her for an awkwardly long period of time. Way to go, Bas, you're off to a great start making friends, he thought to himself.

Kat jumped when she realized someone was watching her choke."Ah, I-I'm fine!" Turning bright red, almost as red as her hair, she started rambling on about cake to try and distract from the fact that she had just choked on some. "Do you enjoy cake? I do! I love cake actually. Marbled yellow cake with chocolate frosting is one of my favorites, although pound cake is very good too. Does pound cake count as cake? It's almost like a bread..."

Kat rambled on and on, trying to cover up the fact that she had just choked on that darn piece of cake. Shut up Kat, shut up! He doesn't want to hear your life story pertaining to cake, but alas, her mouth just wouldn't listen to her brain. "Chocolate bundt cake is really good too, especially if you put chocolate chips in it!...Ah! How rude of me. My name is Kat Hawthorne." Kat stuck out her hand and smiled, a little more relaxed and a little less red after her rant.

"I don't have a choice.... I have to go... but you guys are invited to come home with me for christmas!" Jayden said cheerfully, she knew her parents wouldn't mind. Well.. her father wouldn't anyway, but her mum might, but she would get over it eventually.

When Basil stopped just staring at the-girl-who-choked he realized she was rambling about cake. Some of these cakes were things he had never even heard of. What in Merlin's name was a pound cake? Did it have to weigh a pound? And if it did, then once you ate some was it no longer considered pound cake since it surely would no longer weigh a pound. Or was it a cake that always replenished itself to being a pound in weight. He had never heard of a magic cake that would always be of a certain weight, but he made a mental note to ask his family's house elf about this the next time he was home.

After making this mental note, Basil realised he had once again been staring and the girl was now looking at him with her hand out. Had she just introduced herself and he missed it because he was concerned about regenerating cakes?! Oh man, I really am going to die a lonely old man if I can't even listen to someone introduce themselves without messing it up, he thought morbidly. Should he ask for her name again? Would she hate him for that? Surely she would hate him more if he called her a name that wasn't hers, so he should just ask her what her name was again, right?

He took her hand and shook it firmly to try and give off an air of confidence he didn't really have (but his Father told him to always act like he had when introducing himself), "I'm Basil. Basil A. Mephisto Ferguson. Sorry I didn't quite catch your name. I was intrigued by the prospect of this regenerative pound cake you mentioned. Pleasedon'thateme." I hope I didn't say that last part out loud, he thought turning a bit red with embarrassment.

Basil A. Mephisto Ferguson. Wow, that's quite a name, Kat thought to herself. Kat giggled as he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you Basil. I'm Kat...like cat, but with a 'k,' and it's not short for anything either, in case you were wondering. And don't worry, it takes a lot more than that for me to hate someone."

Kat took a moment to think about the prospect of a regenerative cake. "Hmm, I'm not sure why they call it a pound cake, but I'm quite sure it doesn't regenerate itself. Although, that's an amazing idea! I hope I learn a spell to make a regenerating cake! Then I'd never have to worry about running out."

Turning back towards her cake, Kat took another bite of her cake and realized Basil didn't have any. She took the liberty of selecting a few delicious looking cakes from the table and offered him the plate. "Would you like some cake, Basil? They're quite delicious!"

Beatrice felt very exhausted.She had practiced proper correct movements with her friend Orr, late last evening. She had been very indulged into perfecting it that she wasn't attentive enough with the time. By the moment she felt dizzy, her watch showed that it was already one o'clock in the morning. She was the only one left in the common room, all her friends went to sleep earlier.

And that is why now, Beezus is feeling as if her head was under construction. She could not think well and her eyes were still blurry. She felt very tired and her mind was undeniably spinning. Not to mention that her stomach was making frenzy sounds now, signalling that she was hungry. And with that, after dressing up, she went to the Great Hall.

She saw only a few number of the Ravenclawson the Ravenclaw House Table as it was still early in the morning. Yawning, she proceeded and took a seat, and slowly choose some food for her breasfast. This is gonna be some day, she thought. Chewing her food and looking at the other students.

Kat with a "K". It must be nice to have a normal name, Basil thought brushing off his embarrassment at saying "don'thatemeplease" out loud since this strangely nice girl didn't seem to mind. So pound cake didn't regenerate itself, then? Well what was the point of such a misleading cake name? Basil wondered if her family's house elf knew about regenerating cakes. Maybe he would ask her. But what if her family didn't have a house elf. Then she would hate him and he would die a lonely old man. Right. Don't ask about House elfs or anything else that shows just how much of a snooty rich pureblood family you come from.

Basil was a little shocked at the nice gesture of Kat offering him some cake. He had almost forgot he had originally intended to eat when he came to the Great Hall earlier. "O-oh. Yes. Thank you. I love cake. My house elf, Floop, makes cake for me all the time." If there was a surface nearby that wasn't covered in food, Basil would have surely smack his head into it. Way to make yourself sound normal, Bas. Now she will definitely not want to be your friend. Well, maybe she was too busy eating cake or something and did't hear that he mentioned house elves. Basil engrossed himself in eating cake and drinking Pumpkin juice so that he didn't have to look at Kat and wouldn't make a fool of himself anymore.

Kat was delighted that Basil took the cake. She hoped he liked the cake. She usually had fairly good taste in cake, but she was nervous she'd make a bad first impression on Basil.

Kat's eyes lit up at the mention of the house elf. She'd never actually thought elves were real, or that they were like...butlers...cooks...maids? "Oooh, a house elf? Is that like...a butler...but an elf? That's so fancy! Does he help you clean your room? I hate cleaning my room. It gets so messy and I don't know how, and picking it up takes sooooo much effort. I wonder if they have a spell for cleaning. That would be so convenient!" Kat realized she was babbling again and promptly stopped, taking a bite of cake and sip of tea. Girl, you need to learn to check yourself sometimes. Calm down, breathe. I mean, he's totally cute so you don't want him to hate you and your lack of knowledge for all things magical.

Kat sat there worrying about her big mouth, but her curiosity started nagging at the back of her mind and before she could stop herself, she was asking more questions. "Hey Basil, what does the 'A' in your name stand for? It's gotta be something cool, I mean, the rest of your name is so cool!" Idiot! "Your name sounds so cool." I mean listen to yourself Kat, how awkward can you get. Taking a sip of tea, she blushed a little, trying to hide her insecurities as best she could.

"Oh Merlin, I'm hungry" he said loudly.
He'd wait for her to start eating because he didn't want to seem impatient.

"Me too!" she said. She filled her plate with chicken, salad, and a few fruits and of course a Cauldron Cake her favorite. She started eating and realized owls were still bringing mail. "I must have another letter I see my owl" she said. She waited for her owl to drop off the letter as she was eating.

Scott smiled, and filled his plate with similar foods, but in larger proportions. He looked around, and everyone seemed to have about the same amount as him.
He tucked in and was thoroughly enjoying it until her owl arrived.
'I mustn't ask what's in the letter' he thought to himself.
"OH GOD!" he exclaimed. "I was supposed to send my parents a letter yesterday!" he felt guilty again "I suppose it can wait another hour or two" he smiled.

She stopped eating and took the letter from her owl. Thank you Lily she told the owl and gave her an owl treat and watched as she flew back to the Owlery. She opened the letter it didn't say who it was from on the envelope. She began to read the letter.

Dear Chelsea,
Durmstrang is off on break I haven't talked to you in a long time so I decided I'd send you a letter. So are you enjoying your self at Hogwarts? I hear your trying out for Quidditch as Seeker...well watch out because next year you'll have your self a bit of competition. My parents have decided to send me to Hogwarts for my third year so this will be my last year at Durmstrang. Their so terribly strict there I'll be thrilled to get out of that place. I hope your doing well but by the sounds of it you are.

She was excited "awesome" she said after reading the letter as she started eating again. "You should probably send them a letter soon. If your parents are anything like my aunt they are probably freaking out" she smiled.

"I will do soon" he smiled. "You sound happy!" he smiled again.
He didn't want to ask because now whenever he did he felt intrusive.
At that moment his little ginger cat came and sat next to him on the table.
"What on earth are you doing out of the common room?" he asked the cat, then looked at Chelsea and gave her a wierd smile.

She smiled "I am my friend Oliver Knight is coming to Hogwarts next year he goes to Durmstrang now but his parents finally decided to send him here" she said. Chelsea looked at the cat she was more of a dog person but she liked cats too. "Cute cat whats its name?" she asked while petting the cat.

Basil coughed on his Pumpkin Juice when Kat asked him about house elfs. It seems she was listening, but so far she didn't seem to hate him, so things were going well. "I guess house elfs might be like a... what did you say? a Budler? I don't know what a Budler is, but I guess they could be like that. My room is never messy, but I never clean it, so I guess that must mean Floop cleans it... I had never really thought about it."

How does she not know about house elfs? Is Kat a muggleborn? That is so cool. Would she hate me for asking about that? Basil's mind was zooming with questions so fast that he almost missed Kat asking about the "A" in his name. What?! She thinks my name is cool?! Why?! It's such a stupid name. Choking a bit on bit of cake he was eating, Basil decided he probably wouldn't get much over on Kat and launched into the ridiculousness that is his name.

"It doesn't stand for anything. It's just an 'A.' In my family the Second-born child always has the Mother's Mother's name as their first middle name and the Father's Father's name as their second middle name. It's a tradition. Don't ask why. I don't even know why. Anyway, my grandmother's name is Annabelle and my parents felt bad giving me such a girly name, so they just gave me an 'A.' It was probably the nicest thing they ever did for me." Basil laughed nervously and reached across the table for some pudding to eat more as a distraction than for want of pudding.

Yawning also, Severina sits down. HI! I am hoping my mother is doing OK, It's her first day back with the animals. She's a veterinarian. I am starved, and I am missed my cat, she died of a abad infection. I think she was cursed. I want to work with animals, magical creatures... I want to raise and breed thestrals.... I love them.... First chance we get I want to get to Diagon Alley again and check out the cats. Just didn't have time this trip in..... Severina tucks into her pancakes and bacon...:sevribbon:
