Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.

Minerva was having a great conversation with Katie, but she kept glancing over at her friends sitting at the Ravenclaw table. They looked like they were in a serious conversation. Minerva wondered what that was about. She hoped nothing was wrong with her two new friends. No Minerva noticed a new girl sit down next to them. She wondered who she was. Maybe Minerva was thinking to much about the other table and should start thinking more about her own. She looked back to her new friend Katie, but not before glancing at Harvey one more time.
Smiling, Beezus replied "Ow, I will.. But really .. I won't need to find you, I'd have to lose you first." They were like real siblings now. Shannon was always there when she badly needed someone.
"I have many friends now, but some are .. well .. " she began, unable to finish it.. How is she going to tell Shannon about some of the students she met ? Would she say she don't like them ? Won't that make her judgemental ? "Well .. they're great !" Beezus mumbled.
Shannon couldn't help but laugh at Beezus. "Fair enough." He said nodding his head with a smile. "But I'm serious about that." He told her, raising his eyebrows at her.
He laughed again at Beezus, he was happy she was making friends, but he could tell that some of them might not be what Beezus was hoping for when she suddenly started muttering. "Some not as great as others, is what you're attempting to NOT tell me?" He asked with a chuckle. "I know how that goes. I had a friend back at my old school. He really liked hanging around me, but I didn't care much for him. But eventually I grew to like him enough that we became pretty good friends." Shannon told Beezus in a whisper. "Give it time." He added on with a knowing smile.

She reached the girls' outstretched hand, "Nice to meet you Erin, I love your name .. " she remarked, "My name is Beatrice by the way."
Seeing the girl look at the direction of Nate and the others, "Jayden eh ? The blue-haired girl ?" she sat beside Erin, "I don't have a problem with her. I just can't seem to like her. " she told Erin rather truthfully .. It was true, as much as she wanted the girl to be hr friend, there's just something holding her back ..
She could feel her hand is soft. The softest she ever had since the moment she introduced herself to some students at Diagon Alley, the train and the now at the Great Hall. She hoped, the friendship with this girl wouldn't be tarnished by her friendship with Jayden. She seemed a little upset about Jayden as well but she's holding it back. She wanted to know as much as she wanted to sleep what's this girl's problem with her friend. Still clutching Beatrice hand she said, "Why don't you like her? Actually I have not witness your little fight earlier. You know, I was away from your seat."
The carnival sounded fun, and Eino did have some time to visit it, but his visit was rather brief and rushed. "I returned to Finland for most of the summer, but I also entered several fencing tournaments so I traveled quite a bit." This summer his parents had been especially invested in his fencing, but he was very happy because being at home the entire summer was never very fun. "My favorite place was Sweden. I got to see a Swedish Short-Snout! It was glorious, but sadly it was dead." He said with a nod. After seeing one dead, Eino only wanted to see one alive even more, but that would have to wait until he knew enough magic to be able to handle one. Well, that had been the highlight of his summer and a lot more had happened, nothing noteworthy, but it definitely was the best summer he had ever had.
Eino looked over at Ellie and wasn't sure she had entirely listened to him. She seemed to have found something more interesting at a Hufflepuff table. Eino looked but didn't see anything that would compare to a dragon. Vashti seemed to have returned her attention the silverware, and then a house elf appeared at the end of the table.
He watched as the elf chatted with some students for a very brief while, and it seemed like it was apologizing for the silverware. "Look there." He told Vashti as the elf then apologized again, bowed multiple times, and began to walk towards the staff table. He waited until the elf passed him, exchanged his silverware, then spoke to the ladies. "Dear me... I wonder if he is alright. Did you notice how it hiccuped so often?" Maybe it was sick? Or thirsty?

And the other rides were too, though Vashti hadn't had the chance to get on most of them. Ellie's summer sounded pretty similar to hers though - going to the carnival but mostly staying home. She'd even gotten to practice a little bit of Quidditch too, though she probably hadn't practiced nearly as much as Ellie. Which was okay really, since the place Vashti had practiced at and the person with whom she'd practiced were not her ideal choice.
Vashti's attention then turned to Eino as he described his summer - and then it was quite clear why his had been so enjoyable: fencing and traveling and seeing a Swedish Short-Snout. A dead one, but still, he'd seen a dragon. That was pretty cool either way. "That sounds really awesome!" she said with a grin. "I didn't know you could fence." She didn't know him very well though, so perhaps that was why.
And then, just as she was considering taking a chance with the spell, a house elf popped up and started cleaning all the tarnished silverware, apologizing the entire time. Ohh, poor thing. "It's okay..." she tried to tell him, but the elf might not have heard over his apologies, and he was heading down the table and then towards the professors before Vashti could say much more. She turned her attention back to Eino when he spoke. "Yeah, I did... Wonder why?" Maybe the hiccuping was why the dishes and things weren't cleaned before; maybe the elves were sick. But why would all of them be ill at the same time?
Ellie smiled and nodded through Eino's explanation, though she hadn't the faintest idea what fencing was. It hardly sounded like something that could be taken to a tournament level. Unless it was putting up fences? Fastest time, maybe? It still sounded incredibly boring.
The DRAGON, though, now THAT was interesting!! But...it was dead... "That's amazing? How close did you get to it?" Dead or not, that was awesome.
Vashti's question received a shrug. "It was alright." She just hadn't been into the whole carnival thing. She didn't even want to take Aidan. But it was nice to see him out of the house and having fun.
The House Elf conversation...she'd tuned out.

What did she do? That she couldn't visit him? Uhm....
"I stayed home. Practiced Quidditch." That was all. All Conan need know, at least. She hadn't been in the mood for anything, really. Especially a trip across seas...to something that reminded her of the person that put her in that mood that was soo unlike her. So, sorry, Conan.

Adam said with a little smile. "If you ever need to talk though, I'm here."
Adam gave Ellie a smile as she made her Quidditch remarks. "Of course...I could never ask you to root against your own house, and your own team." Of course Adam still wasn't sure what he was going to do about Quidditch...he wanted to play, but maybe it would be better to wait and see if he was going to be able to stay for more than one year before he went trying out for the team and getting comfortable. After all being apart of a team made it that much harder to leave when he had to.
Adam had been fidgeting with the one sleeve of his robe while Ellie was examining the silverware. He looked up at Ellie when she asked about the boy. "Um..yeah. His name is Paulie and he's from Beauxbatons," Adam said with a little nod of the head. "He's really nice...I could introduce you to him if you don't already know him?" Adam thought maybe if he could start introducing some of his friends, then maybe he could have a group of friends to hang out with, but if Ellie wasn't interested then he surely wasn't going to push.
"Thanks," she said with a small smile. Perhaps she'd talk to him. She had no reason not to talk to him now. Only that she didn't think Adam would have much of an interest in her relationship with Little Professor.
Right. Obviously. "So, you'll be at my games, then?" Yes? Yes? Ellie nudged him slightly with her shoulder. He'd better.
So another transfer? All the new students this term suggested there were many more than that. Curious, it was, that so many people would transfer at the same time. Coincidences were odd little things. "I'd love to meet him." Nod.

Gaby grinned. That was one more potential friend - score! She was becoming more popular by the minute. She didn't know why, but being in the Wizarding World was bringing her out of her shell a lot. Not that she was really that far in to begin with, but still. 'We're in the same year!' she said happily. 'Did you know our Common Room is in a tower? I bet the views are great! My cousin said you can sometimes see the Giant Squid in the Lake from one of the windows,' she said, chattering on happily. Really, with the amount of sugar she'd had, she could go for ages. Probably without a reply, too.
Hmm. She seemed to have started a conversation about the merits of different houses now. That was not good - she'd heard the whole Blood thing earlier, and it hadn't been pretty. She'd rather not repeat it. 'Well, they're not all bad. Almost all of my family have been in Slytherin,' she divulged, still in the same friendly tone. 'Yes, the Hufflepuffs do look inviting. I think one of the friends I made in Diagon Alley is in Hufflepuff, actually...'
"Yeah, ive heard about that--Giant squid?--Like I said, sure they're great people--" Nate had been replying quietly as Gaby spoke, but she didn't seem to hear him in the least. Once she finally trailed off, Nate said, "I don't really want to talk about the Houses. It'll make me start to create generalizations and I don't like that.

Jez got out her wand, and tapped the goblet in front of her, making very sure to say the words correctly this time. "Wingardium Leviosa!" To her relief, the goblet didn't explode, but gently rose above the table. Jez grinned, hoping Nate would be impressed, at least a little.
"Wow, well done!" Nate said. Whipping out his own wand, he started muttering to himself, "Well, let's see what I can do..." And he honestly didn't know. But he tried, and going back through what he remembered from skimming through the Standard Book of Spells: Grade 1 in Flourish and Blotts, he recalled a single spell: "Diffindo!" he said firmly, pointing his purpleheart and sphinx feather wand at the cup. Lo and behold, it worked! The people around Nate were covered in shattered glass. Nate was guiltily proud of this, and smiled smugly, biting the tip of his wand.

All this magic going on around her was making her feel rather inadequate, which was not something she was used to. It wasn't a nice feeling - and it was also bringing her sugar high down, which was definitely not good.
'I'm Gaby, by the way. I'm a First Year... are you?' the brunette asked, tossing her hair over her shoulder and out of her eyes. On second thought... she pulled a scrunchie out of her pocket and tied it up in a high ponytail on the top of her head. There. Much better. Now, down to business: 'Can you teach me how to do that? Please?'
"I'm Jez, I'm in First Year too," grinned Jez. "I was practising on the train. I like your hair, by the way," she added shyly. "Mine is hopeless - can't do anything with it!" She held up a lock of her waist-length tangled black hair and smiled sheepishly. "Hopeless." She returned back from hair complaints to the spell at hand. The goblet had fallen back to its original place while she'd been distracted. "So, you have a wand, right?" She giggled nervously. "Of course you do - stupid question! Okay, just swish and flick it in the direction of what you want to levitate. And make sure you say the words right - wing-gar-di-um le-vi-o-sa. Took me ages to say it right - the goblet blew up in my face earlier when I yawned while saying it! Like this." She swished and flicked her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!" And the goblet rose again. Jez grinned at Gaby, her wand still trained on the levitating goblet. "You try!"

Alice couldn't help but giggle at the people around her shrieking at the fact they got hit by glass. Pointing her wand, she whispered quietly to the broken glass "Reparo" and smiled at the fixed goblet.
"It should be easy since I already read Hogwarts; a History. So I'll probably take it" she said. "Classes normally start the day after the Opening Feast so tomarrow. I can't wait I'm very excited. It just feels great to be here" she said.
"I still have to read it but I think it should be fun to read." Temperance says "Okay, I also can't wait. Jack sighed as he sat down. He was pretty breath taken by Hogwarts, but he hadn't interacted with anyone since he was in Diagon Alley.
The slashes and cuts on his face were gone, except the deep scar on his left cheek, that stretched from the corner of his mouth to his temple. He didn't try to hide it, there was no point.
He sat back, impressed by the food, anything would be delicious in comparison to the rock cakes they sold at his family café back in Galway, but that was removed from his memory.
He looked at the two people on either side of him, saying nothing as he picked at his garlic potato quietly.
When India came back to the table after the whole house elf fiasco. She sighed. Glancing up she spotted Jack - and his face.
MERLINS BURNING TROUSERS! What was that scar on his face from? She quickly trotted over. "Hey Jack right - how are you doing?" She asked smiling. Glancing over to him - she had barely seen anyone but that one girl Selina on the train and that was a short trip or so it had seemed. Afterall they were all looking forward to the school year. So the trip just zipped on by like scenes from a dream flashing before your eyes.
She chuckled. "So how do you think the house elves were treated here?" She asked scoping out his reaction. She hoped he'd be nice. Somehow, the large scar was making her want to give him a big'ole hug. And that wasn't something she wanted to do - to put herself out there.
Instead, she placed a hand on his arm, softly - delicately.

"That was brilliant!" Nate said, admiring the job well done. "Now," he said, pointing his want at a goblet down on the other end of the table, "watch this. "Because she didn't want me around arrogant pure-bloods but I told her not to worry I'd never become that I seen enough when I was younger. Also I think she wanted me to see the other part of my blood line. I am pureblood but unlike other purebloods I will admit I do have a tiny bit of Veela in me. Most purebloods have a little bit of muggle or something in them they just wont admit it. Most of the wizarding world is either muggleborn or half-blood. So in everyones family there has been at least one muggle somewhere some of them just won't admit it" she explained.
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."

So another transfer? All the new students this term suggested there were many more than that. Curious, it was, that so many people would transfer at the same time. Coincidences were odd little things. "I'd love to meet him." Nod.
"No problem," Adam said with a little smile. He understood they had just met recently so if she didn't want to open up all her feelings to him, he could understand that.
"Every one," Adam said with a nod, giving her back his own little shoulder nudge. "Granted that there's not some dire life circumstance that might prevent me from going." Although Adam certainly hoped nothing like that came up because that would be unfortunate...
"Well...whenever you'd like to meet him let me know. He's over at the Gryffindor table now, but I'm sure we'll see him in classes in stuff," Adam said with a smile.

Alice smiled at the two first years, obviously enjoying themselves, but grew more worried for her treacle tart. Sweets, her, and glass don't nessasarly mix!
Nate saw the look on her face, and said, "I'm so sorry. I'm just not one to pass up the chance to help out a fellow curious mind! What's your name? I'm Nathaniel Zacharias Stone. "
"The incantation is 'Reparo'. And she," Nate said, gesturing at a third year girl, "apparently knows how to teach that one. Meanwhile, 'Diffindo', the more fun charm," he smirked, "is as simple as flicking your wand and saying 'Diffindo!'."
"Thanks for the tip!" Nate said to the girl. He didn't even know her but she seemed friendly.
"That was brilliant!" Nate said, admiring the job well done. "Now," he said, pointing his want at a goblet down on the other end of the table, "watch this. I got this from a higher grade spellbook in Flourish and Blotts..." he got prepared, and then took a chance: "Accio Goblet!" The cup flew up from it's spot and flew towards Nate, who caught it in his outstretched hand.
Jayden copied Nathan's wand motions with her own "Diffindo!" The goblet shattered... "Reparo" the pieces recollected themselves and it was as if nothing had happened. "This is soooo cool Nate!" Jayden said with a giggle, hugging him. She was soo excited!
Nate saw the look on her face, and said, "I'm so sorry. I'm just not one to pass up the chance to help out a fellow curious mind! What's your name? I'm Nathaniel Zacharias Stone. "
"Hello Nathaniel", she said quietly, "My name is Alice Avore".
