Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
Aurora blushed, "Thanks-- they're old and I was going through a Pink phase as my parents like to call it. I used to really love everything Pink. I don't think that you would know since the shop is in Muggle London. Wow--really? Your mother cooks for you? Mine doesn't like to so my dad and me do all the cooking."
"Oh London," she said with longing, "I lived there until I was five. Do you know Chelsea? That's where I lived. Then I moved to France with my mother..." She trailed off, looking uncomfortable all of a sudden.
"But yes, she does cook for me when I'm home. What's your name, by the way? You shop in muggle shops, does that mean you're muggleborn?"

"Hi Beatrice," she said with a puzzled expression, watching the girl bow. Then she, too, leaned into a small bow, looking slightly self-conscious. It was the polite thing to do right? You couldn't just leave someone hanging.
"So what did you think of Diagon Alley? I really liked it, except I got pretty bored after the first couple of days. My mother had to leave and I was kinda left on my own. I spent most of that time at the carnival.."

Come on, Rory. Spit something out. Anything. It doesn't matter. "I like eggs and pudding!" Okay...not exactly what he had in mind but it was the first thing that he thought of. "No, wait. Um. Half-blood, pureblood, muggle-born?" Too straightforward. Whoops. "Sorry. That was a little too much, wasn't it? I'll go back to eggs and pudding. I like eating pudding," he said, as he put another spoonful of pudding into his mouth and swallowed it, "And I like egging people's houses. I used to do it all the time until my neighbors got mad and my mom stopped letting me stay home by myself." Yeah. That was a tragic day.
Jezabel laughed. "And I encounter the same problems with conversing, again and again! But egging people's houses ... my older brother Keegan and I used to do it all the time, before Mum caught us. On one house, belonging to this batty old witch with more warts and less goodwill than a toad, Keegan did a Permanent Sticking Charm with the eggs! As far as I know, they're still there to this very day ... Of course, my family weren't impressed about that episode." Jez's voice became less amused. "I'm pureblood, and my parents are complete maniacs about 'continuing family bloodline' and 'purity of wizarding blood'." Jez didn't even try to keep the hatred and contempt out of her voice at her parents' beliefs. "I've met more Muggle-borns here, tonight, at this table, than I have in my entire life. And I really don't mind if a person's from a magical heritage or not. So," she took a deep breath; she hadn't meant to rant, "while we're on the subject, what about you?"
"Yes! Really excited about everything!" Scott said enthusiastically.
"My parents, yes they are." He smiled. "Don't worry though", he said reassuringly, "I know that wizarding families are no better than muggle families" And smiled again.
Luna smiled she didn't mind that it just annoyed her sometimes cause her cousin was muggle born ''I'm half and half!''
Scott was very confused, he didn't know if Beatrice was angry, joking or forgiving.
"Err yeah..." he said.
"That's really interesting!" The muggle world fascinated Scott, how they lived without magic. "Impossible? Really?" He said.
Aurora watched Beatrice and Scott and saw how uncomfortable he was. She took pity on him, "She's only playing with you so don't worry. Besides it was my fault in the first place. I mentioned that the fact you two met in Diagon Alley and are now in the same house--so it must have been fate. I was only kidding though." She shared a look with Beatrice.
At Scott's exclaim, Aurora felt better since she thought that the muggle world must be so boring to wizards since they had magic but she was happy to see that the muggle world fascinated them as much as the wizarding world fascinated her. "Yeah, magic is considered to be impossible in the muggle world because they think that it doesn't exist. Now I know better but for most muggles, magic is considered to be fantasy and not real."

For a moment she thought, how can she talked like this to a girl who just levitated something when she, Erin Heyman couldn't even hold her wand right. A muggle downfall. With her anger not subsiding yet she added, "By the way I'm Erin. You?"
"Jezabel Black. Or Jez." Jez didn't really know what to make of Erin. "Look, I really didn't mean to make the thing explode - trust me, not high on the agenda! But I'm sorry - I do show off without meaning to, and mostly that gets me into trouble." She knew what Erin had been getting at - the art of picking apart a person's speech to find the real meaning was not lost on Jez.

"My father is a pure-blood and my mother is a half-blood" He said softly.
"To be honest, I don't really understand why some people think 'blood purity' makes them better than others." he said.

"I always used to shop in the markets in Camden," she went on, "My sister used to take me there with her. I loved that place. There's nothing quite like it in the wizarding world."

"Information Technology was like computers and stuff and design and technology was kind of how things were made. Once we had to make our own toy cars out of wood and glue and other materials and another time we had to make a pop up book for the younger students. P.E is physical education. I hated it, we played rounders and kwik cricket in the summer when we could go on the playing field, and hockey and netball in the winter." Olivia was glad that she'd never have to do any of that again. She was awful at it. No co-ordination at all. "R.E is religious education."
"A ghost used to teach a class? How did that happen?!"
"Hmm, maybe you're right. Hopefully, we never ever come across one!" Jez really didn't want to talk about such a gloomy subject right now - middle of joyous feast and all. "But ... what in the world is netball?" She was genuinely perplexed. "Don't you have- no, wait, I don't suppose you would have Quidditch in the Muggle world?" Probably not, Jez was guessing, probably not. "Well, apparently Professor Binns - that was the teacher's name - was a very, very old man who'd been teaching for decades. The story goes that one day he'd gotten up from a snooze in front of the staff room fire, and had simply left his body behind! Apparently his daily routine never changed in the slightest." Jez giggled at the thought. "I used to have a ghost in my house - my great-great-uncle Derrick. He used to clatter around the upstairs hallways - he was particularly fond of the trophy room."

After getting to know some fellow Puffs, at the Badger table, Amethyst strolled gracefully over to the Ravenclaw table. She wanted a diverse group of friends, and felt it necessary to introduce herself to anyone who'd welcome her. She was a bit nervous, she knew this. One of her close friends was in Ravenclaw.

"The Sorting Hat thought about putting me in Gryffindor but I'm really glad we're both in Ravenclaw, and there are a lot of nice people here. But I'm sure you know that" He smiled.
"I felt a bit guilty at the time just running off" he laughed.
"Oh did you ask your parents about mine?" Scott said, hoping not to sound too rude.
"I do indeed," She said smiling at all the friendly people around her.
"No it was fine really," she said shaking her head at scott, he just kept apologizing.
"Oh, yes i did. My father thought he knew your father, but he couldn't remember your mother. I guess too many potions have gotten to his head. I asked my mother as well and she said at one stage she had been quite good friends with your mother. She told me to ask how she was? Did you ask your parents?" She asked, hoping he had and could add to the story of their two parents.

"Hey Amethyst," Evangeline called to her friend. "Congratulations on being sorted into Hufflepuff," She said truly delighted for her friend.
"PHILIP!!!!!!" Presley shrieked, spotting her seventh-year friend. "Oh my merlin!! HI!" She gave him the hugest hug ever, then saw...Dani? Was that her name? "Hey, Dani!" she grinned, hoping that really was her name. She flipped back to Philip. "How was you--" About to say "how was you summer?" she noticed how upset he looked. "What's wrong?" she changed direction mid-topic. Something was obviously wrong.
Philip squeezed Dani's hand and looked over at Presley when she came over. "Hey, Pres." He sighed. "There's nothing really wrong, I'm just.. Stressing out about starting my.. Final.. Term." He sighed, saying the word 'final' as if it hurt his throat to squeeze it out.

Orr grimaced. She could see that it was a sore topic for Beezus so she rushed to explain herself, "I just wanted to know if you have different games to muggle kids. My friends back home and I love to go to the park but we especially love to use the computer game halos. My favorite is to play "music band"- you pretend that you're a part of a music band. It is so much fun."

Hateya poured herself a glass of pumpkin juice and settled in at her home table, looking at all the new professors up front. That had officially been the shortest train ride ever (probably because she'd bounced around the first fifteen minutes and then fallen asleep), and she was still a little surprised she was already at Hogwarts.
And a second year. She'd managed to steer clear of those weirdo pirate people, and had felt quite proud of herself for not following their goofy trend until her brother had filled her in that they'd actually been possessed or something. It was enough to give her some serious creeps.

Thank god Evangeline was here. The conversation was getting awkwarder by the minute!
He smiled back at the first thing she said.
He still felt bad, but said nothing.
"That's funny, because my father could remember your father well, and my mother could just about remember your mother, saying that she was very nice. He said smiling but how many times would he have to say mother and father?
He paused and then remembered "My mother could remember your father well though, saying he had a big interest in potions." He smiled once again.
"I'll write to them soon and ask them, and my mother is very well"
Scott really just wanted to go to the common room. He was so hungry but also tired, and he wanted to see what it was like.

"Yes, there are and you are right." He said politely, she was a smart girl.
"If they found out, envy could start wars, and the results of that would be catastrophic." He said his voice becoming more serious. "Which is part of the reason Hogwarts is protected from muggles." He smiled, then took a sip of pumpkin juice.
