Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
*grins and pats Ivy's head* She likes telling herself she is too XD

He liked having the freedom to hang around the Great Hall for a bit and wander idly up to the common room.
He tipped his head sideways at her, resting it on a hand that he had propped up on the table. He didn't really want to go all the way up there just to come back down, but... sure, why not. It would be better than just waiting for her. "Yeah, that works for me," he told her, his tone bright. Besides, there had to be something he could do up there that made the trip worth while. Like say a quick hello to Ellie, who seemed to have disappeared since the train.
Or... take off his tie. He pulled on it lightly, wanting to take it off now. But, no. He'd just wait til he got up to his dorm. He sat up straight again, looking up at the Staff table for a moment before returning his attention to Ivory. "You're not too worried about going to sleep early or anything, right?" Just to make sure. He didn't know how long this investigation would take.
It was after the second time that she caught herself doing it that Ivory vowed to never hold her breath again!!
Unless of course she was underwater or...smelling something particularly pungent or getting rid of the hiccups. Were those the only exceptions? Thoughts safely now on other activities that would require breath holding, she didn't once even let her eyes divert away from conversational eye contact. Not once.....Fine. Admittedly her eyes did stray when he halfheartedly attempted to sort of start to loosen his tie. But that was it!
Resisting the urge to also lean forward and balance her chin in her palm, the Ravenclaw settled on leaning her elbows on the table as she burst into bright laughter. "Me-sleep early!?" Chuckling now, she shook her head emphatically, tendrils of hair escaping from behind her ears to and fro across her cheeks. "No worries there. Night owl..." she explained with a rueful smile. "Guilty."
"What about you?" she asked with a small smirk as she pointedly gave his shoulder a small poke. "Any early night curfews I should know about?"
Jayden was people watching... something she liked to do when there was nothing else to occupy her time.Suddenly, she felt a pair of eyes on her. A boy about her age was looking right. at. her. She flashed him one of her famous smiles. "Hey there, I'm Jayden." She introduced herself to the boy.
Nate completely wanted to simply say yes, so he did. "Yes!" he replied enthusiastially, not able to think at all. He started running his fingers through his hair, which he did when he wanted someone to notice him (whether on purpose or not)
Eino then head a familiar voice, and looking up he saw none other than Ellie Stone. He was a little hesitant to stand up and hug her, so all he did was mumble "Hello." That, of course, didn't stop her from kissing his head.
Basically. Eino blushed like his cheeks had been Incendioed, and quickly tried to hide them by covering them with his hands, which also helped cool them because his hands still cold. "I-I'm good!" He stuttered a bit, but managed to speak. "How are you? How was your summer?" She probably spent it being Quidditch and being awesome. Duh. What else would she do? "Oh, yeah... the, umm, silverware." He forced a laugh, then cleared his throat. "Possibly." He answer her question with a nod and finally shut his mouth to prevent him from further embarrassing himself.

...
What was this about a hen?
But before she could ask about that, Ellie popped up. "Hey Ellie!" Vashti grinned as she returned her fellow Ravenclaw's hug, noticing that she was holding a familiar backpack. She was so distracted by it that she didn't notice Ellie kiss Eino's head, nor did she see Eino's adorable reaction.
That backpack. Wasn't it Jacob's? He'd carried it around all the time when he was Captain. So why did Ellie have-
OH.
Vashti's Ravenclaw brain finally put two and two together, and her grin widened. "Are you the new Captain?" She just HAD to be. And it was awesome.
She tuned back into the conversation just as the silverware was brought up. Scourgify? "It should work," she agreed with a nod. Cleaning things was what the spell did, after all. If it worked on cauldrons, surely it would work on silverware too.
What? Noooo, Ellie didn't notice that blush...not at all...
"It's good to see you," she said to the two, though she was eyeing Eino and his stuttering. "I'm great. And my summer was....alright. Good, even. Maybe." She was indecisive. Surely the end counted for something, but did it make up for the entire holiday? Though, she wanted to avoid questions, so, "It's was good. What about yours? Did you do anything fun and exciting?" That was for the pair of them.
Her grin widened ever so slightly at her teammate's question. "Yeah." Hehehehehe. She nonchalantly swiped her hand across the badge as she went to scratch an 'itch' on her nose.
She drew her wand at their responses and twirled it in her fingers, contemplating whether she should use the spell or not. Surely, if she looked at the Staff table, she'd see if they were using the spell, but she didn't want to chance a glance for fear of her mood being ruined by someone else sitting in Little Professor's seat.

"Ellie," he sighed again. "You didn't come visit me."
Ellie's attention then turned to a familiar voice, but a not so familiar head.
"Conan?" What did he do to his hair?
Yeah, nevermind that. "I'm sorry," she said. And she was. But she smiled and tried to hug him awkwardly from her seated position.
"Come sit." she patted the empty space beside her on the bench. "How are you?"

Raising his eyebrows at Ivory, Dallin couldn't help but laugh too. But come on, it was a good question! Very polite of him to make sure she didn't want to catch up on sleep, in fact. But no - she was a night person. Dallin smiled at that; it was good. That meant that she wouldn't be in a rush to get back to the common room. Unless she was worried about being out and about in the castle for too long... but he'd just deal with that if it came.
When she turned the question back to him he chuckled. "Definitely not." He loved staying up late. Even if he had to wake up early. And he didn't think he was weird in being like that.
He leaned back suddenly, stretching his arms above his head before putting them back on the table. "I wonder how the food'll be," he said, glaring at the dirty fork again. "Maybe it'll help us figure out if it's the elves' faults that the silverware is like this." Because if the silverware was bad, maybe the food would be too?
Nate completely wanted to simply say yes, so he did. "Yes!" he replied enthusiastially, not able to think at all. He started running his fingers through his hair, which he did when he wanted someone to notice him (whether on purpose or not)
Jayden wasn't expecting such an honest answer, and immediately started blushing... and then quickly recovered her calm, slightly icy composure. "Oh yeah? What's that?" She asked..clearly not ashamed of being such a shameless flirt in the least.
"At the Slytherin table I heard someone say the house elves are on strike thats why all the plates and silverware is dirty. I don't know but thats just what I heard a few people say it does make sense though" Chelsea said.
"Cool I bet the Ravenclaw tower is really nice. I'm a little nervous to see the Slytherin common room since its in the dungeons. But I heard its under the lake and you can see everything underwater through the windows" she said. She couldn't wait to see the common room and wondered if all of her stuff was already in there.
"I haven't heard anyone here say why they think it's dirty but it does make sense. I wonder if there is a cleaning charm and if that would work on the silverware, then again the professor's might have tried it already." Temperance says "Yeah I hope it is. The Slytherin common room sounds very cool, if it is indeed under the lake."
Returning to the Ravenclaw table after wandering around the Great Hall for a bit, Vashti suddenly spotted someone she hadn't seen in what felt like a LONG time. She walked over there quickly and plopped herself down on the seat beside her friend. "Hey Victoria!" she said, grinning. "Long time no see!"
Victoria looked up and smiled. "Vashti." She said, happy to see her old friend again.

"I know of a cleaning charm my aunt uses it all the time at home when she decides to give our house elf a break. I've seen a few students use it at the Slytherin table too. I'm kinda curious to whats going on though. I heard a sixth year say this is not normal everything is usually very clean. Something must be wrong" she explained. Chelsea was very curious to what was going on inside the castle.
Surrounded by her friends talking to someone introducing each other here and there, Erin just ate the delicious supper that the elves had provided them, well according to her friend Gaby. There's so much food in there that changes every now and then. The gateau that appeared when she was eating chicken legs just disappeared in thin air. Puddings came instead. Without the energy to involve in another conversation befor the Headmaster's speech, she just sat there looking at murmurs, laughters and introductions of students.

"I know. I thought the headmaster was supposed to make a speech too at the opening feast" she said. Chelsea looked around the room. "I wonder when the prefects will take us to our common rooms"

"I wonder why the headmaster didn't, maybe something came up that prevented them from delievering a speech." Temperance says as she also looks around "Yeah, aren't we suppose to go to our common room after the feast is over? Though it doesn't look like too many people are eating and with silverware being dirty and all I don't blame them."

Jezabel wondered when the feast would be over. It had been a very exciting day, but she was extremely tired now. She couldn't help a yawn escaping in the middle of the Hover Charm incantation. The goblet, instead of floating into the air as it had done the previous times, promptly self-conbusted, showering Jezabel and the people around her in hot sparks.

She gave her a 'Say What?' look. "Better be, pretty tiring," she answered. Jayden's still in the mood to talk and meet new friends after the long journey they have just been. Pretty tiring day. She's going to read some of her books tomorrow, she decided. She needed to learn as quick as possible. Behind the table, she's mimickng the other students who's doing magic with their wands. They swish and flick it just like what she did at Ollivander's and they say incantations.

"Ooops!" she was startled by the warmth she felt from her elbow. She's really tired and her mind isn't going the way it should be she shouted feeling angry to the girl, "Watch it!"

"What's--what's what?," Nate managed to stammer through. He couldn't take his eyes off of this girl for some reason. Gaining some composure, but his mind still not being in the most attentive state, he said, "No seriously, what's what?"

"That's really c...ACK!" Jayden shrieked, sparks flew and landed on her arms, and her robe caught fire..."Aquamenti!" Water came out of her wand and onto the arm of her robe, putting out the flame on her arm. "Well.... that was... close." Jayden sputtered, attempting to regain her composure.

Nate was sure Pam was snorting and trying to suppress her laughter by now, but didn't bother to look away from Jayden, "Well, I haven't been able to look away from your face very much..." he said. And this was true. All he saw were those eyes and her shining smile. He hadn't even noticed what color her hair was, let alone what she looked like overall.
ooc: can you describe your charrie for me? I'm on an iPod so it's pretty hard to navigate pages.

Jayden had a really hard time suppressing a grin.... "Well thank you...Now that we have gotten the introductions down a bit... would you mind telling me more about yourself?" She asked the boy and then realized she had to turn away, her face was beginning to grow warm, and she did not want the boy to catch her blushing....
ooc: Jayden has striking blue eyes, and blue hair currently. (She likes to dye her hair different colors) and she has an athletic build.

I haven't tried it yet either, I'm not really very hungry and the silverware doesn't help much. I'd probably be more hungry if the silverware was clean. Wow! He was proud of Beezus for getting into Ravenclaw, even though he didn't know the young girl well. Shannon felt protective over Beezus, part of her reminded him of his little sister Cella, and he was extremely overprotective of her.
Finally, spotting Beezus, Shannon sat down beside her and watched as some kid began crying and Beezus was trying to apologize for whatever had happened prior to Shannon taking his place at the table.
There was a brief silence, so Shannon decided to talk finally. "Hey Beezus." He greeted with a half smile. "I was looking for you, wanted to congratulate you on getting into Ravenclaw." He told her with a proud beaming smile across his face.
Beezus was busy comforting Jerrod when a boy approached her, she didn't notice him at first but when he talked, Beatrice quickly whirled around. The voice was very familiar ! "Shannon ! I thought it was you. " she exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug.
Smiling, she said "Yeah, well I am very proud to say that I am a first year Ravenclaw now. But .." Beezus pulled away, "You're in Hufflepuff right ?"
Well, that was a little sad, the two of them not being in the same house ..
