As you enter the Muggle Studies classroom, you instantly notice that it has been changed to match the lesson again. The room seems to go on forever and each wall is covered by mirrors. The floor is a hardwood floor and there are chairs lining the west and east walls. In the distance, you can hear a variety of Muggle songs playing. They all have a great rhythm that make you want to jump up and dance.
From the ceiling is hanging a mirrored ball, also known as a Disco Ball. There are also a variety of lights and laser machines hanging around the room. The lights are just dimmed slightly.
In the middle of the room on the East side, there is a break in the chairs and there is a table covered with Muggle refreshments. This time there are no cokes or sodas. This time there are bottles of water and Gatorade and a huge punch bowl full of a pink punch. The bowl has been charmed to instantly refill itself when it gets low. The water and Gatorade are iced down and have been charmed to refill as well. There is also a cake in the shape of a musical note but it is encased in a safety charm to insure that no one touches it until the time has come.
In the middle of the room on the West side, there is a break in the chairs where a dry erase board sits. On the board, the professor has left the following note:
Quote:

Seriously, she hadn't thought she would actually be interested in this lesson because admit it or not, the wizard dances are very interesting. She had not even heard some of it. Maybe Beezus would come to love dancing after all.
Now Professor Cerulean is asking them for Muggle dances and she just couldn't help but give out her own, "Professor, there's the Salsa," she said after raising her hand. How could she not remember that dance when almost everyday her Aunt would practice it?
Sophia sat slightly slumped in her seat, listening to all of the input everyone was giving about the different kinds of dances. Did she know any that the others HADN'T already mentioned? This one was up to her... she liked to dance anyway, and since she was half-Muggle anyway, she tried to think of any dances her mum may have taught her.
"Disco," she said, after raising her hand. "If you could actually call that dancing."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory raised his hands again after thinking carefully. "Fox trot, Professor,'' he said. He did not know to do the dance...he had only seen it a few times on muggle shows.
Gemma smiled as the students started naming what seemed like a neverending list of Wizard dances. As they said each one, she wrote each on the dry erase board in her curvy and curly handwriting. As she wrote each name, the board was charmed to put them in ABC order.
When they had a substantial list, she turned towards the students with a smile. "Great job! I have to admit that I haven't even heard of some of these dances...it might be fun to see if the History of Magic professor or one of the professors that teachers a more Wizard centered class would be willing to teach these to us..." she glanced at the list again, "because some of these some pretty crazy interesting..." she said with a little nod.
She glanced up and down the rows of faces that seemed pretty excited and asked the next question, "Now I know not everyone is going to know the answer to this one, so don't fret or worry if you don't have an answer." she turned towards the board and flipped it over so that a clean dry-erase board was there. "Can anyone name any Muggle dances, such as the Chicken Dance or the Cha-Cha Slide?" she said as she wrote the first two on the board to start off their list of Muggle Dances.
OOC: I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WIZARD DANCE NAMES!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!
Here we go again...I'm going to give you a little bit of time to share your answers.... Remember NO TALKING, RAISE YOUR HAND, ONLY ONE ANSWER PER PERSON, and DON'T REPEAT OTHERS' ANSWERS.
See you in a few!
Tayla lit up as she heard her classmates mention some of her favourite Muggle dances. She raised her hand and added, "I know a dance step called the pirouette, Professor! It's done in ballet and jazz dance and several other dances - even hip-hop I believe, and in different styles."
"Although the ballet pirouette is classic and my favourite..." Tayla thought to herself and remembered the dance classes she took before she started Hogwarts. She was ready to give an example if the professor would let her.
Desiree! Gosh, I haven't seen her in awhile! She waved frantically at her friend and gave her a quick hug. "Hey, nice to see you!" she exclaimed as she stuck her tongue out at her friend. It's been awhile since she's been to classes due to her scales. Something she wanted to forget now and laugh about later.
As soon as the professor started talking, Lana ceased hers and paid attention. Dots? She walked over to the one next to Desiree and shot her an apprehensive look. She still wasn't sure what the class was about. She just wasn't paying close enough attention.
Name a dance move?! Merlin's Beard. Today is about dancing?! Lana wished she could leave. Dancing just wasn't her cup of tea. She figured it'd be rude if she just left, so she decided to stay. The professor seemed nice, so she didn't want to hurt her feelings. Now as for a dance move. Lana spent a minute or so trying to remember that silly dance move her brother used to do when he was just being goofy. What did he call it? What did he call it? When it came to her mind, Lana raised her hand and waited for the professor to call on her.
"Professor, have you heard of the Tarantula Roll?"
Desiree grinned at her friend as she gave her a hug "Lanaa! It's so great to see you! it just.. not been fun without you." she whispered and laughed quietly, sticking her tongue out back at her. It was great to have her friend back. She had really missed her when she was gone with that scale problem.. yaa she felt pretty bad about that. really, really bad.
As they walked towards to the dots she saw Lana's look, she didn't seem too excited for dance class, Desiree shot her a similar look, but tried to give her a small smile and a shrug, as though trying to say that it could be kinda fun.. maybe.
Honestly though Desiree was a little nervous, she had never actually danced before, so she wasn't sure how this was going to turn out.. and they weren't even wizard dances, they were muggle dances, well obviously it was muggle studies. But she had no idea what these dances were, the disco.. the salsa.. square dancing.. and the pencil, really? what was that? So she just kept quiet and listened hoping to hear something she recognized.

Jez raised her hand confidently. She'd read about Muggle dances somewhere. "Tap-dancing." She suddenly realised how weird it was that she, a pureblood, didn't know anything about wizarding dances, but she was quite confident when asked about Muggle dance moves. She sighed. Her own intelligence/ignorance never failed to amaze her.

She walked towards the board with the welcome message and then turned towards all of the students, "Welcome everyone!!!! Will you please all start finding a seat against one of the walls and all conversations should end right now so we can get started..." she said sweetly with a little nod. She gave the students a few minutes to get settled and then continued.
"I'm sure you have all noticed the drastic change of the classroom." she said spreading her arms out to signal the mirrors and the hardwood floors and the lack of desks. "Well, today we are going to focus on something really fun and exciting from the Muggle world." she said with a little wink.
"Just like in the Wizard world, the Muggles have a variety of dances that they always seem to work into their major dances at school, weddings, birthday parties, etc. These dances are very interesting and tons of fun!" she said with a flick of her wand. "And what makes these dances even better is that the majority of them are easy to learn and you don't have to be a dancing expert or even novice to get them!" she said excitedly to ease the nerves of those students that might be nervous about dancing.
She smiled and glanced up and down the classroom and with a flick of her wand dots about a foot wide appeared evenly spread out on the hardwood floor. "Okay if everyone will get up, and quietly, head towards a dot on the floor....then we'll get started learning some of the dances."
She gave the students a few minutes to find a dot and she monitored them closely to make sure that the students weren't talking...she knew if she let them talk on this first move the rest of the class would be a disaster of talking.
Once she was sure everyone had a spot on the floor, she turned around and erased the board and then grabbed another marker.
"Let's start by listing some Wizard dances that we do at dances and events, such as the Hippogriff Shuffle..." she said with a nod and then she turned and wrote that on the board. "Can anyone name some other dances...remember to only name one and don't repeat others' answers."
OOC: Okey dokey...I'm going to give you a little bit of time to RP moving to your dots and then giving answers....now you can be as creative as you like with your dance names...I mean I made up the Hippogriff Shuffle. Just have fun with this. Remember NO TALKING, RAISE YOUR HAND, ONLY ONE ANSWER PER PERSON, and DON'T REPEAT OTHERS' ANSWERS (which shouldn't happen with this one since you're just making up dances)

Cool, Wizard Moves. Katrina knew only a few but the others stole them. Psssh... but she had one more.
Katrina raised her hand. "I remember this move called the Firebolt Rush,"
Ooh, Katrina hoped her answer was correct. Hehe.

Katrina raised her hand again.
"I've heard of this dance named the 'Tinikling'" Katrina gulped. "It's this some kind of Filipino dance."
Katrina took her seat. Oh Merlin, she thought. I have to get this one correct.

Well since I am muggle-born I should know some dances he thought to himself racking his brain for an answer trying not list any that had already been listed.
"Professor there is also Ballroom dancing" Harvey told the professor. Now this is getting to my area of expertise, muggle stuff! he thought to himself

Oooh. Dancing. Indiana lovved dancing so much. She wasn't too good at it though. That was why she was really looking forward to this lesson. It was going to be sooooo fun. But now she had to think of a dance. Luckily her mother enjoyed watching a muggle show called Strictly come dancing, so Indy did know quite a lot of dancing....she just didn't really know how to do them. That was probably a good thing though. Indy would probably make a fool of herself if she did try to dance around. She'd need to get Kourt to show her how to dance. Then she ewould be really cool and everything. "My mom watches this muggle dancing show." Indy mused with a big smile, as she raised her hand. "And they do this dance called the Charleston....it looks really cool."

Tiffany thought for a while. Dances in the muggle world...she remembered that she heard it from her parents when she was young. She raised her hand. "I remembered that dances could be divided into two half in the muggle world: the folk dance and the ballroom dances. I didn't know a lot about the folk dance but as for ballroom dances, waltz, latin and tango are some examples of it,"she answered politely. She was satisfied with her answer.

Caroline was actually glad that she decided to attend this class. It was turning into a very interesting class. She listened at the professor asked them questions. The next question Caroline's hand shot up. "The Tootsie Roll." She remembered seeing some guys dancing that dance in New York during one of her trips to see her sister. It was a pretty fun dance and looked kind of hard, your feet had to move pretty fast.

Glenn for the most part watched as countless members of the class raised their hands and gave a muggle dance. She tried to think of a muggle dance that hadn't already been said.
"Uh - well there's this muggle dance called the Moonwalk; it's quite cool but I can't do it..." Glenn trailed off.
Angelina raised her hand and said to the Professor when she finally thought of something, "Well umm I heard of this American type of dance called the jerk. I'm not sure if it is common in other countries thought.."
The Jive. Valerie grinned to herself as she remembered the time her father had tried (quite unsuccessfully) to teach her mother to do The Jive. Needless to say, her mum had ended up with both a very sore body and a very sore pride.
Valerie raised her hand, chuckling fondly at the memory. "There's The Jive, professor."
From her spot on the floor, Adanna raised her hand high. "Professor, there's Hambo! It's a Swedish dance. My mother's from Sweden and her brother taught my sister and brother and me the dance. It's so much fun!"
Erin raised her hand. She was good in these kinds of topics. She grew up in Muggle-world after all. "There's the Bollywood dance Professor. That originated from India and it's becoming so popular," said Erin.

Zhenya heard many responses... she thought of so many but everytime she went to tell the Professor, someone else suggested it. So she went with the one that was on the top of her mind, forgetting if it had been said.
"Professor, I used to learn Rhythmic Gymnastics! It's not what you would call Dance, but it uses dance moves, I guess."

Gemma flicked her wand and instantly all of the student's answers for Muggle Dances appeared on the blank dry erase board.
She glanced over the list with a smile and then turned back to the class. "Yes yes yes, very good everyone! These are all great examples of Muggle dances. " she waved her hand and the four screens dropped from the ceiling and unfolded quickly. Under each screen was a name of a Muggle Dance: Chicken Dance, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and Bunny Hop.
She smiled at the class, "Now just like we have traditions that we do at weddings and dances and events so do Muggles. And many of these traditions have to do with crazy dances that the Muggles do just for fun. Some of these dances are more embarrassing than others but they are all in good faith. " she paused and walked towards the first screen that said Chicken Dance under it.
"The first dance we are going to learn is the chicken dance. " she waved her hand and a video played with an example of the chicken dance. "Now remember these are all in good fun and this dance really doesn't require you to have any major dance ability just the willingness to laugh and have fun." she paused as the video started.
As soon as she was done showing each of the moves she turned back to the students and then said, "Okay let's give it a try..." instantly the music started going very slowly and it was time to do the Chicken Dance.
OOC: Alright everyone have fun RPing learning and doing the Chicken Dance. I'll be back in the morning and we'll start our next dance...have fun with this but keep you talking to a minimum....*huggles*

Ooooh ooh ooh. Chicken Dance time. Tori leaned forward to watch the video more closely and frowned as she noticed all the movements. Well at least they repeated, right.
She stood up as the music started and got her arms a-folded in wing formation. Nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh....

The music started. Jez stared at Professor Cerulean. Really? Truly? They had to do that?!
Okay. She'd give it a shot.
Jez began to practise flapping, twisting, and clapping in time to the music. It was really fun! She began to laugh.
The chicken dance? Desiree watched the video closely and then listened to Mrs. Cerulean explain. Well.. at least they were starting with something easy! Desiree could definitely do this, ya she was going to look like a chicken... but it was called the chicken dance.
She brought her hands up and opened and closed them in time with the music, she knew this song was going to be stuck in her head for the rest of the day. Bringing her arms up, she formed little wings and started flapping them, but had to stop as she burst into laughter seeing herself in the mirror. She looked over at Lana and grinned, before trying to catch up to where the music was..
Gemma flicked her wand and instantly all of the student's answers for Muggle Dances appeared on the blank dry erase board.

Cass stood there as they watched the video - which she was still equally freaked out with - and blinked. They were supposed to dance that? The blonde looked around and found a couple of other students already going at it, and looking like they were having the time of their lives.
So she raised her hands to face level and started doing the beak thingy, and soon enough she was flapping her arm-wings and twisting around and she laughed. As silly as she probably looked, this was really fun.
She'll worry about the partner bit later. Maybe she could just repeat the first steps over and over again if ever.
Chiken Dance! This was a kid's dane and after all, Erin was just a kind who wanted a break from all the magic and just...
Have Fun!
She started to imitate Professor Cerulean's dance moves even though she already knew it. Oooh! The music of chicken dance! Makes Erin don't wanna stop dancing!

Alyssa busted up laughing when she saw the steps of the Chicken dance. "This is going to be fun, Penny. Let's practice it right now," Alyssa told Penny grabbing her friend's hand and pulling her to the middle of the dance floor.
Trying to remember the steps of the dance, she got into position. Suddenly, the music of the Chicken Dance started playing. "Okay, here goes!!"
First she raised both hands to shoulder level and then shaping her fingers like the shape of a bird's beak, she opened and closed the 'beak' fingers four times, then she bent both her elbows and flapped them by her sides four times, then wiggled her hips left to right two times and then lastly clapped her hands four times. "This is fun, Penny. How are you doing over there?" Alyssa looked over to see whether Penny was enjoying herself as much she was.
