As you enter the Muggle Studies classroom, you are instantly reminded, or introduced, to the fact that Professor Cerulean always tries to transform her class to match the lesson of the day.
The room is covered in large multicolored Muggle bean bags scattered all over the floor. These bean bags have been charmed with extra cushioning charm to make them even more comfortable. Beside each bean bag is a little lap desk for you to place in your lap and use for notes during the class. The floor feels extra cushiony as well although it seems to be the normal tile floor of all of the classrooms.
The walls and ceiling are draped with different bright colors of drapes. It's a little overwhelming but enchanting at the same time.
In the corner, there is a table of refreshments (something the Professor always tries to have at her lessons.). But this time the table is full of Muggle treats. There is a bowl of ice filled with various Muggle sodas from Cokes to Cherry Cokes to Dr. Peppers to Sprite, etc. Beside that bowl is another iced bowl full of bottles of various colored and flavored drinks labeled Gatorade. There are two other bowls on the table: one is full of mini Muggle chocolate candies from Snickers to Twix to Milky Way bars to M&Ms, etc.; the other is full of more chewy flavors of Muggle candy such as Skittles, Dots, Jelly Beans, Twizzlers, etc. There are small bags at the end of the table for you to fill up with these goodies if you would like. Each of the four bowls is enchanted to automatically refill itself when it starts becoming low.
Various forms of Muggle music can be heard playing softly in the background. Anything from rock to pop to calm rap to R&B to Country can be heard in the mix.
There is a small raised platform at the front of the Muggle Studies classroom where a strange white board that looks like a chalkboard stands. It is known as a dry erase board and is a very Muggle inventions. Written on it in various colors of markers is a message from the Professor.

She walked to the front of the class room and with a flick of her wand she silenced the Muggle music to signal to the class that it was time to start.
She took a deep breath and then started, "Hello everyone!" she said excitedly as the chatting started to cease across the classroom. "And welcome to our first Muggle Studies class!" she said as she turned around and erased the dry erase board with her hand...no magic just used an eraser.
She turned back around with a smile, "For those that don't know me, I'm Professor Gemma Cerulean. This is my second year teaching at Hogwarts. Last year, I had the pleasure of teaching History of Magic. This is my first year teaching Muggle Studies and I am very excited to try to make this class and subject fun and interesting." she said with her usual soft voice and smile. "For my returning students, I am sooo excited to see you and I can't wait to hear how your breaks went and for us to have more fun, and more goodies, through the year in our classes..." she said motioning towards the table. "And speaking of goodies, if you haven't grabbed any or you run out, feel free to get up at any time and grab some goodies...I'm all about food and snacks making lessons more interesting..." she finished up with a little wink at the students.
"This class' main focus is on the Muggle world and their practices and traditions and their daily lives. It is set up to help us better understand the Muggle world and to help us better meld into the Muggle world if we ever need to have interaction." she said everything very matter of fact with a smile on her face. "However, this class is not set up for us to make fun of the Muggles or to criticize the Muggles, so if you feel that you cannot handle yourself as a mature student in this class, then I suggest you go ahead and politely excuse yourself." yes that was the nice way of saying we weren't going to have Muggle bashing she thought with a little nod and a serious look/glare out at the students.
"Because this is a Muggle Studies class, we are going to utilize a few Muggle classroom ways while in the class." she flicked her wand and little bags started flying out to each of the students. "I would like to ask that while in this class that you refrain from using magic. I will use it occasionally to pass out things or take notes and such but I want to ask that you refrain from using it unless I specifically ask or you receive permission from me." the bags slowly landed beside each of the students. "Inside each of these bags you will find a few Muggle classroom items for you to utilize while in the class and while doing homework." she grabbed a bag hovering over her head and pulled the drawstring to open it. She slowly reached inside and pulled out each item slowly, "A notebook full of lined paper...this is what Muggles use to take notes and such in stead of parchment...so from this point on no parchment is allowed in this classroom or for use in homework. There should be plenty of paper in this notebook for you to use for the year." she reached in and pulled out a handful of long plastic items, "These are pens. I have put a red, black, blue, purple, green, and pink pen in each bag. We will not need quills in this class. These pens have plenty of ink within them to use for the term." she reached inside one more time, "And these are pencils. They are similar to the pens, however, on this end..." she said pointing towards the pink softy end, "is what's called an eraser and it will erase any errors that you make when you turn it over and rub your paper with that end..." she said with a little nod and then laid each of the items out on her desk at the front of the class.
She let the students examine the items for a few moments and then continued, "Okay let's get this lesson officially started..." she said excitedly as she turned towards the dry erase board and picked up a marker. As she spoke she wrote the first question on the board. "Other than magic, what traits or habits or ideas or events, etc. make Muggles different from us?" she wrote on the board before turning around. "Please remember to raise your hand before you answer and don't repeat answers already shared...and only give one answer....also remember we are here to learn about Muggles not knock them down or criticize...any answers like this will result in loss of house points..." she said glancing out over the students' faces hoping that they were starting to understand how serious she was about the rudeness she had heard that often occurred in this class in the past.
OOC: Okey dokey...let's get this started...please remember to keep chatting down to zip because Gemma is watching...also remember to raise your hand before you answer and don't repeat answers...also only give ONE ANSWER so that others have plenty to do...we are all Muggles in real life so there should be plenty of answers being thrown out there...and remember she is serious about loss of points for rude comments...see you in a few! *MUAH*
Jez was going to LOVE this class, although she supposed it was the only one she would have difficultly with. Free treats? A really nice teacher? It was going to be great! Jez raised her hand to answer the question. "Muggles are generally perceived as more ignorant than wizards because of their inability to perform magic, but I think they're actually more resourceful than wizards, having survived for centuries without magical aid. They also seem more skeptical and willing to accept a mundane excuse in the face of outright magic." Walking, talking textbook, that was her.

Notebook, pens, pencils...
Heheheehhe...Josh was completely all right with these stuff since he had started his education in a Muggle school till the time for him to leave for Hogwarts had come. Not to mention he still lived around muggles and because of that, though he had been of age, magic was still a NO NO NO to him during the summer time. He was never complaining about it, of course.
Stopping munching on the sweets for a moment, the Gryffindor spoke up to answer the question ''I think they are rich when it comes to sports. They have more than wizards have at sports and athletics branch and those are pretty awesome.''

Ira heard a boy say something about sports. Raising her hand up, she said "Oh yes professor, there are major sports events like Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian games etc having a wide variety of sports and athletics. They are quite fun to watch too. According to these competitions, the sportsmen are ranked."
The professor couldn't help but giggle as a young girl had an issue with one of the cokes. She walked towards the girl and with a flick of her wand helped her clean up the mess. "I'm sorry you got such an explosive can...sometimes they get shaken up and this is the result..." she said with a shrug of her shoulders, "Let's get you another one...." she flicked her wand and led another coke over to her hand and opened it for the girl. "There much better...." she said as she handed her the coke.

William raised his hand. " Mugggles like to take vacations" William told the professor. " My example is taking cruises on a big cruise ship" William said to the professor.
A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.
Victoria reached into the bags and took out one of each objects the professor mentioned. She seemed highly interested in the 'pencil' and how the soft, pink end of it makes the writing disappear. Haha! These muggles are sure not dumb at all! Even quills can't do that! She should definitely get more of these to do her homework so she don't have to keep throwing away her parchments.
WICKED!
Those notebooks! So shiny and white, unlike the ivory colored parchments that they have.
EXTREMELY WICKED!
Victoria let her mind drift back to the question the professor just asked. Hmm...there are SO much difference between the wizards and the muggles. "For one, muggles have iPads, iPhones, iPods, and things like that. They work really good too. Kind of like a moving picture!" answered Victoria.

Answers about why Muggles are different were litterally said every second, so Kynthia didn't really have time to think of one. She never liked questions that had so many answers. She didn't know which to choose and ended up not talking at all. And that was happening again now. She decided to take some notes instead with her pen. Even though she was Muggle born and had brought her own pen with ther in case quills proved to be difficult for her to use at first, she discovered that it was pens that gave her a hard time now. She was used to quills by now and she really missed her pretty Jobberknoll feather quill...
Waiting patiently for the next question, she took a sip of her cola and ate some of the snacks she picked on her way in. Man those bean bags are comfy She thought and tried not to get too comfy and fall asleep or something. Now that would be embarassing...

"We definitely need to make sure that he doesn't get anymore Dr. Pepper to drink", Alyssa thought to herself.

Kelsey looked up at the board after eating all the food. It said to answer how muggles are different from wizards. Well, I should answer, she thought. She raised her hand and said,"Muggles are different from wizards because they have these boxes with moving pictures that change too." She hoped that was right. She`d never had one. All she did was play outside, read, or something like that.
Glenn settled herself in a grey beanbag, with a can of Coke balanced between her knees. It was her favourite drink, second only to Butterbeer. She took a drink from the can and was horrified that the slurp was quite loud.
She raised her hand, "Well, don't they have this card they use to pay for things? A credit card?" She had seen her mum use one of these once, though wizarding money made much more sense to Glenn.
The list of things that weren't brought up was dwindling. India had to act fast or there would be some undesirable differences to talk about. Now what did she want to say? Transportation, telephones, movies, some basic food, cleaning, and general day-to-day muggle life was used.
Raising her hand she spoke. "Well in the muggle world there are many more bands and music groups than there are in the wizarding world - even ones that are the members of one group preforming on their own." She quickly took notes of other things being said at the same time. "The other thing that might have sparked this difference is that muggles didn't have the magic to relay on to entertain themselves - they didn't have spells to charm something to sing them to sleep they had to develop the instrument, the sound and the technique before it could be used." She explained with a smile.
"If you look into history one of the first recorded instruments is basically a guitar - and its called a Lyre. Now, in the muggle world they have woodwind instruments, brass, - silver if you include flutes and even in flutes you've got recorders, pan flutes and much more." She smiled excitedly. After all she loved music.

Faven could practically jump with glee. A kind and understanding teacher!!! After so many harsh and strict Professors, Faven was so glad to finally have one that she could see liking. Throw that in with the fact that this was a Muggle Studies class, something she had much experience with, and she was giddy with excitement for the coming lessons. Faven had to fight hard to not laugh out loud at the looks on some of the students' faces as the Professor explained the use of paper, pens and pencils. These were ordinary items that Faven had been using since she was just a babe, yet she had to remind herself that some never had those experiences.
Some differences between the muggle world and the wizarding world??? Faven didn't even know where to start!
"Professor, I would have to say that the biggest difference between the two worlds, once the magic portion of the Wizarding World is taken out, is the knowledge of the existance of the other. I haven't met a single wizard or witch who didn't know what a muggle was, yet I haven't met a single muggle who could say they knew of wizards. I myself, as a muggleborn, would have known nothing of this world if it wasn't for the arrival of my Hogwart's letter. Without Hogwarts, I would be just like everyone I grew up with, perfectly unaware of the magical world of witches and wizards."
Justin Raised his hand , " What about the way that their Justice System works. They've got a trial by jury system. Wizards have a hearing and then are tossed into Azkaban , Professor. "
The professor couldn't help but giggle as a young girl had an issue with one of the cokes. She walked towards the girl and with a flick of her wand helped her clean up the mess. Corey had trouble putting his hand up becaus he was so busy eating the FOOD and giving the professor adoring looks as if he'd been starved for YEARS and now this kind, amazing soul had bought his love with FOOD.
He glanced at all the stationery without much interest. Being muggleborn, it wasn't all that exciting to him. What WAS interesting was that so many of the kids seemed to talk like they thought muggles weren't human or something. Not in a mean way, just.... muggles and wizards were all human, man.
He did eventually manage to get a hand up.
"Muggles have war. And yeah yeah I know people are probably gonna say that we had wars, Wizarding war blah blah but honestly that Voldemort stuff wasn't the entire Wizarding world, just Britain really. Muggle wars, there are world wars where millions of people die, they blow each other up with nuclear power and destroy things, and fight, fight, die."
Back to the food and making goo-goo eyes at the professor.
Beverly was surprised with the room, it's comfy in the bean bag. To her surprised notebook, pen and pencil. She know about this cause her father is working at the Muggle Artifacts Office... It's cool to write with it without dipping it on ink, but it can be erased easily. "This lesson will be amazing." she thought... Then she listen to the Professor's question intently;
She raised her hand to answer, Electricity, technology and their inventions are there way of making their life more comfortable, well to us we use our magic for that...
Penny was engrossed in her muggle novel, but looked up from reading as she heard someone say something to her...
"Oh Hi Janice, of course you can sit beside me," she said smiling brightly, putting her novel back in her bag again.....
Penny hadn't seen Janice for a few days, even though they shared a dormitory - it was like they where on different time zones or something
"Thanks".
Janice slid into the place and watched as Professor Cerulean came up to the front of the class.

*MUAH*
Janice thought for a while, then raised her hand and answered.
"Muggles uses pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, and other stationary objects while wizard-kinds uses quills and inks and parchments."
this one's for the boys and girls with the booming system!

Muggle Studies. She was not very surprised when they were not allowed to use magic.
Plus, they were going to use notebooks, pens and pencils. That was a very exciting start for a lesson.
Beatrice knew about these things because even if she was half-blood, her parents made sure she was not alien to the Muggle and Wizard world and that is why she respects the existence of two world so much.
Now aside from Magic, what else was different from the two worlds ? "Well Professor, aside from those already mentioned, there are the Animals. Muggle Animals differ from Magical creatures in their lack of magic, appearance, features and even knowledge. A number of magical creatures are combinations of animals in found in the muggle world." she said, thinking about her Siberian cat, Davinci.
Beatrice got a little jealous with the other students eating some goodies so she decided to get some for herself. Oh, toblerones are heaven. And was there no ice creams ?
She slowly made her way back to her bean bag when she heard that some of the students are now starting to talk about racial discrimination. Or, was it comparison between muggles and wizards ? She couldn't help but give her opinion about this. Insults were highly prohibited in this class. "Hey." she called out to those chatting about muggles, how silly they are and things like that, "Not just because you're a pureblood means you could go on using foul words for muggles. They too have their right to be respected as much as you so you better start practicing that respect if you want to gain the same." And she trotted back to her bean bag. Munching on her toblerone.

When Aaron heard a Ravenclaw make a comment to some meanies a smile came on to his face. 'HEEEEY! WOOHOO!' He called, she was right, Muggles were pretty awesome, he thought as he stuffed his face with M&Ms.
He liked being a Muggleborn, because it meant he got the best of both worlds. He got the awesome magic stuff here and the great other stuff back home. Muggles had way more sports to do, but wizards had awesome candy.
Quite possibly the best candy. But then Muggles had Dr Pepper!

Well, going on a little bit of what Mr. Quimper just said when muggles have war sometimes they involve several countries..They fight either alongside with other people or they fight religious groups that say the United States does not agree with..Sometimes,also when the war commences it could be an attack one group of people have planned that put the muggles into the war..I think Wizards are fighting in wars for the same reason, while muggles might have a different reason with their enemy to be in a war. They might want to win it to gain something for their own state that only helps them but not other countries.Self Gain."

Tiffany grinned. She sat in the beanbags next to Lana's. "It's great to see you too!" As the professor started to teach, Tiffany kept silence and listened to her carefully. She didn't want to miss any of the details.
SPOILER!!: Professor
The professor couldn't help but giggle as a young girl had an issue with one of the cokes. She walked towards the girl and with a flick of her wand helped her clean up the mess. "I'm sorry you got such an explosive can...sometimes they get shaken up and this is the result..." she said with a shrug of her shoulders, "Let's get you another one...." she flicked her wand and led another coke over to her hand and opened it for the girl. "There much better...." she said as she handed her the coke.
She glanced around the room with a smile as she watched all of the students getting comfy in their chairs and eating and conversing. She nodded her head slightly at all of the hellos and the excitement. She was happy to see so many happy faces because she knew that quite often Muggle Studies wasn't a fave or some students, especially students from one particular house.

Tiffany received the bag from the professor. She opened it and took out all the things out. Pens, pencils and a notebook. These were all the stuff that she had at her muggle school. She was so familiar with them. As the professor told them to use them only but not parchment and quill, she was so relieved. Those stationery made Tiffany feel like she was at her muggle school again. She smiled cheerfully when she knew that she could take whatever she wanted at any time. She was a lover of snacks.
The professor had thrown out the first question. Tiffany thought for a while and put up her hand."In the muggle world, technology was advanced. You could even call it as a world of technology. All the things at home use electricity as their major energy sources. Besides, the technology in muggle world is so advanced that they can even use the solar power, wind power etc as their major energy sources. Also transportation in the muggle world is much more different than the magic world. There are buses, minibuses, ferries and cars which are driven on the road, not flying in the sky and there are something called octopus which can automatically pay the fee for you which is also an example of technology which in the magic world, we use magic to do everything." Tiffany grinned and sat down. She was quite satisfied with her answer.

"Nothing wrong with a bit of self gain." Corey remarked and ate more free food. Gaining.

Kurumi winced a bit as Corey brought up war. No matter how many years passed, it was a sensitive subject for people and, well, Japan still held massive memorial services every August to remember what happened. Yes, non-magical wars were certainly on a much more massive scale - although the Wizarding Wars could have gone global had Harry Potter failed. Still, she mostly agreed....until Adam opened his mouth.
Her head spun around and looked at him with a slightly offended expression on her face. "So, are you implying that wizards don't fight wars for personal gain?" Because, THAT was a ridiculous notion. "Voldemort certainly wasn't looking to benefit anyone other than himself. Also, I don't think you can say that the Death Eaters and the Order of the Pheonix were fighting for the same reasons. Their motives were as different as night and day."
She flashed Corey a slightly disapproving look at his next comment. Hopefully he was only talking about personal gain in terms of devouring as many snacks as possible. He did seem to like food a lot. Too much personal gain there and they might be rolling him through the corridors.

Listening to everyone give their answers, Mia kinda doodled on a piece of parchment. Most of the students were giving the same sort of answers. She wondered if the other students had picked up that muggles were not really lacking anything just because they couldn't do magic. There were areas where they were far more advanced than wizards were.
She actually wasn't going to answer the question since everyone else had already done so but there was something that muggles had that wizards certainly did not. So she raised her hand in the air. "Muggles have starving people in the world. Millions die each year from not getting enough food. Not something we would ever have to worry about."
