As you enter the Hogwarts library, what appears to be a cozy nook in one corner of the main area appears most appealing to the Hogwarts student interested in his or her reading. Upon further inspection, you see that this comfy area is larger than it had seemed on first sight. Spread throughout the room are clusters of armchairs, surrounding magical reading lamps giving off different levels of light, all of which are appropriate for reading. These clusters are perfect for study groups or group projects.
Here and there are a few lone armchairs for the student who enjoys quiet solitary reading, and a number of sofas for any that would rather stretch out and put their feet up. Be sure not to muddy them up though!
A soft glow of light is present throughout the room, with more magical lamps in each possible reading space. Be sure not to make much noise and respect some students' wishes to read in quiet.
One last note, no food or drink in the reading lounge.
"I'm Jezabel Black, or Jez for short." Jez smiled. "Do you like books? I love them!" When the subject was books, it was easy to catch Jez's attention. "I can teach you a few spells, if you want," she added shyly, not wanting to sound rude.
"Yup," Sarah smiled, "I love books." only the fairy tales, though.
"Would you?" She asked, excitement bubbling up. Then she lowered her voice, wouldn't want to get caught by the librarian. "That would be awesome!"

"Okay." Jez was a little nervous - being a teacher wasn't something she was used to. Usually it was her numerous siblings teaching her! "Um, the Hover Charm is relatively simple. The wand movements are pretty easy - just swish and flick at the target - but the words are sometimes annoying. Wing-gar-di-um Le-vi-o-sa," she pronounced. Jez moved her wand in the direction of her closed book, now lying on the table. "Wingardium Leviosa!" The book rose upwards as though on a shaky lift. Jez smiled at Sarah, trying to keep the book up. It was harder with heavier objects! "Now you try."
The girl was looking a little frustrated. Mia couldn't blame her, she was trying to read a potions textbook after all. If it had of been her, she doubted she would have gotten past the title page. Potions. So not her thing. Actually none of the subjects at Hogwarts were her thing.
Mia chuckled softly at the girl's question and held up her book of 'Functional Pottery' and shrugged her shoulders. "Sort of." she said with a sheepish grin. "It's what I want to do after I graduate so I guess you could say that I am studying."
No doubt the girl was going to think she was weird. Here she was, at a school for magic and she was studying muggle hobbies. She wouldn't be the first person to think her weird. "I'm Mia by the way." She placed the book onto her lap and extended her hand towards the younger girl and giving her a warm smile.
"Pottery, huh?" Lauren asked with a lopsided grin. "Awesome, I don't have the hands for it, but it's a useful skill to have. Will that be your specialty?
Lauren wondered briefly what it would be like to have a specialty, or a hobby in particular. She was one of those types who wasn't particularly good at anything. Well, she was a decent flyer, but probably not talented enough to make the Quidditch team. It didn't really bother her, though. She still enjoyed life immensely, after all.
"Oh, I'm Lauren," she told Mia with a smile, extending her hand and shaking the other girl's one firmly. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Oh, hi." Jez felt a little embarrassed that she'd disturbed the boy. "I was just wondering ... is that a book on Divination?" She pointed to the book in the boy's hand. She didn't recall seeing him before. Maybe she hadn't been paying attention to the real world again. "I don't really understand the concept of it. Could you explain it?" She hoped to high hell she didn't sound as shy as she felt.
When Chris looked up he saw the girl that now stood before him. He gulped a little. She seemed to have been in his House and she didn't look like she was old enough to not be new. But he still wasn't sure. He nodded.
''Ye... yeah'' He studdered, this stutter was getting on his nerves. Ever since his parents left him on the train platform he felt so alone and whenever someone tried to converse with him, all his social skills were thrown out a window.
He used to be able to talk away to people, well... the people that apperered at his house randomly and decided to talk about how wonderful it was to see such a young boy already focused on his studies when he didn't even go to school yet. Maybe now was the time to try and make a friend from him house, better yet... maybe his year!
''I... I'm Ch... Chris'' He tried to smile. But his lips were so tight and small he wasn't sure if they were even showing. He looked down at the book and back to the girl.
''Do you... like, Div... Divination?'' He was starting to get better at this. It was like he was taking his baby steps social wise again. He hoped she didn't find him strange or anything. After everything going on, maybe it was best to make some friends. He always thought it might be better to not converse with other and just do his studies and leave. But... he was starting to get lonely, and it was only the first couple of days in first year. He really did need this to go well.

Wow! That seems interesting!, she thought and pulled the book out from the shelve. Placing the other two books back, she went straight to the closest table to start reading the huge black book.
THUD!
Um, yeah... the sound of the book being placed 'gently' on the table. It sounded as if a bomb had dropped on that spot!, Gwen dramatized, looking a bit puzzled at the students sitting close to her. Yup, I am definitely not in the right mind to want to read this book. Want to!'Sorry', she finally mumbled, realizing she might have disturbed a few students. Meh, no big deal..., she told herself while finally taking a seat. Then, she took a piece of parchment and a couple of quills out of her bag, and opened the huge book, ready to get started. Now... let's see which potion shall I pick?, she asked herself while flipping the pages.
The loud "THUD" echoed around the room startling everyone, Jory included. Looking up from his "Fantastic Beast and where to find them'' he saw Gwen standing at a table with a huge book and a puzzled expression on her face.
Jory wondered what in the world Gwen was doing with such a book.
As he got up to go talk to her, Gwen pulled out quills from her bag.
"Hi,Gwen,'' Jory said when he reached her table and seriously hoping she won't be angry at the interruption. "Er...what are you doing?''

It took him at least a half hour of walking to the door of the library to the end of the corridor, forward and back, forward and back, to finally pick up the courage and enter. He had been spending a lot of his time in the boys dorm reading the books he brought from home there.
''Its okay, just relax'' He thought as he walked through the Library trying to avoid eye contact with everyone. It was time he found somewhere else to read, somewhere a bit more peaceful.
As he entered the reading lounge he sat down away from everyone else, he had his legs up and his head is resting on it, he took out a book on Divination and read it, avoiding having to look at everyone. He soon heard a noise and cautiously looked up to see who had just approached him.
Feeling a little bored while reading the book she had been reading for like the 10th time. Beezus decided to find someone to talk to at the moment and as if on cue, a boy came rushing to the Lounge and sat at a corner. He seemed like a first year, which means the same age as Beatrice. She also wants to have more and more friends from her peers so she stood up and slowly walked towards the boy.
Upon reaching the place he was seated, she was about to greet the boy when her foot accidentally slipped ! She fell down, face downward. "Errr.. sorry." she said, grinning. How embarrassing !

Great… that’s just great, Gwendolyn, the girl ‘congratulated’ herself, realizing that a lot of people looked at her. Grrr… if I could only hex them, she thought. Right, if any of those dumb first years come closer to me and start talking… ughhh! If they start making fun of me, I’m pretty sure I might end up cursing them. But this idea isn’t restricted to first years, she thought and took a seat.
Are you talking… to me?, Gwendolyn asked herself. ‘Go mind your own business…’, she started saying and looked coldly at the student standing in front of her, but them wished she hadn’t. ‘Oh… Hi Jory’, she said, biting her lip. Stupid me! Flipping the pages of the book quickly, the second year hoped her huffie friend didn’t get upset. ‘Reading. A book about potions’, the girl started saying. ‘I think I’ll go brew a few potions in the lab’ Yeah, that lab…one of her favorite places at Hogwarts! ‘But I’m not sure which one I should pick’, she explained.
Taking a piece of parchment out of her bag, the girl started writing a few potions and her remarks about those.

Sarah took out her wand and watched curiously as Jez made the book float.
Better start with something light. She looked around and pointed her wand at a spare quill. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she said, hoping she pronounced it right.
The quill shuddered a little but and almost started to float up... but then Sarah noticed a pretty light patch made by the stained glass window and the feather stopped moving.

"I'm Jezabel, but everyone calls me Jez," she smiled. "Or they should by now. I'm in first-year." Jez noticed Chris's stutters. She remembered her own agonising shyness at the very beginning of term. It had gotten better when she made new friends, definitely. She thought Chris could use some company. "I'm not sure about Divination. My sister Desdemona loves it, but I think she's a little loopy. Not from the subject," Jez added hastily, not wanting Chris to get the wrong idea. "I think most of my whole family aren't right in the head. Desdemona just fits in." Jez realised she was probably blabbing on about stupid things now, and blushed. "I just like learning things," she admitted. "Anything, just so long as I'm taking in new information. I love reading. Do you?" She guessed so, from the fact that he was in the library and all, but best to ask before making assumptions. "Have you been around the castle yet? I spent ages exploring every inch! There's an awesome treehouse in the grounds, and a waterfall, and the forest, and of course the library!"

...
Concentration was never her strong point.
Jez laughed as Sarah was distracted by the light patch. "I'm not laughing at you," she giggled. "Just ... you kind of remind me of my little brother Than. He couldn't concentrate on anything either." Hard to explain, if the person you were talking to didn't know Than personally. "You want to try that one again, or shall I show you another one?"

"Yeah. I have been doing pottery for as long as I can remember." Mia looked down at her hands and grinned. "I grew up in a commune in Australia and that's how I helped out by selling the pots I made." Because she had been far too lazy to do any fruit picking or farming and she couldn't cook for the life of her. "I plan to keep with it after I have graduated."
Well that was after she had travelled first and then help Nik set up their wand shop.
Shaking the girl's hand, Mia gave her a smile. "It's lovely to meet you too Lauren. So I'm guessing fifth year, maybe sixth?"

Lauren returned Mia's smile and then blinked in shock at her guess, "Is it that obvious? Do I look that young? Or old? Yeah, I'm a fifth year. But I'm new here... And yourself?"

"Wingardium Leviosa!" she repeated, she was going to do it this time. Yup, yup.
She stared at the feather, brow furrowed. It lifted slowly, but soon was hovering a few inches off the table.
"Yes!" Sarah said, again breaking concentration and allowing the feather to fall.

Eino had absolutely no idea what a Brazilian was. He hadn't lasted in muggle school past the first grade, due to his inability to maintain magic and the magical world a secret. He had been mostly educated at home, but only in magical matters, so he lacked in the geography department. Nonetheless, he pretended to be impressed that the boy was from this Brazilian place, because it sounded very cool.
"Oh, yes-- I mean, I no, nothing is wrong. No." Well, way to be obvious, Captain Sly. He cleared his throat. Ugh, why was he asking that anyway, did Eino really have "LIAR" written on his forehead? Oh, Merlin. Eino tried to pull some of his short hair forward to cover his forehead, but that didn't really work, so he decided to change the subject. "So, uh, ummm, how do you like Hogwarts? What classes are you taking? Are you trying out for Quidditch?" Anything else to make it even more obvious? Le sigh.
João raised one eyebrow slightly, observing the boy to the degree it would uncomfort someone. Why would someone hide their nationality? It wasn't like Hogwarts forbade any country, was it? Well, he didn't really know, he had a 'red' passport after all--though he was sure any Brazilian would be accepted too. He died to ask if the boy was in the country illegally, but of course he held himself back. It wasn't a nice thing to ask someone, after all, and he would do his research silently.
Shrugging, he moved onto the pathetic distractions the boy pushed forward to comfort him and said "It's so big. I haven't discovered every part yet, but so far it's fine." Save for some idiots. But those rotten eggs were everywhere.
"I'm taking all of the classes." Because he was genius like that. "How about you? And yes, I am. And you?" Was he comfortable enough now that they had moved on?

Realizing she was actually talking to someone, Gwendolyn raised her eyes and looked at Jory. ‘So… what are you up to?’, the ravie asked.
Gwen did not respond to Jory, she was glaring at the students who were staring at her. But he was surprised when she acknowledged him rather rudely. "She seems to have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning,'' Jory thought.
Jory decided not to say anything; Gwen looked as if she regretted it. ''Back to extra work as soon as you're here, huh?'' He looked at the book and wondered how many potions were listed in there.
"How about making a list of the potions that sounds good to you and then narrowing it down to the ones that you really would like to make?'' the young Huffie suggested. ''Have you made any potions last year? Out of class, I mean.'' He took a seat next to Gwen, peering at the book. "I was reading Fantastic beasts and where to find them. My common room's noisy. How was your holiday, anyway?''
"Oh, cool, Australia. I've been there a few times," she told Mia with a nod and a friendly smile. "It's amazing you've got it all planned out. You must be close to graduating! Mia couldn't help but grin. It was true that she had always known what she wanted to do with her life but she had also kept an open mind as well. Just in case things in her life took a change in direction. "Very close. This is my last year." And she hoped it went by very fast. She was ready to take on the world. Well...kind of.
Lauren's indecision about her future plans did not surprise her. How many of her friends had the same problem? "You've still got a few years to work it out. Besides, who says you have to have it all worked out? Like I told a friend of mine, probably about eighty per cent of the kids here go out and start work in what they thought was their dream job only to find it's not what they want to do after all." Who knows, Mia could end up being an Auror one day. Highly unlikely but stranger things have happened.
A small chuckle escaped her lips at the look on Lauren's face. "Sometimes I can be totally oblivious to things." Usually when a guy was trying to show interest. "But mostly I have a knack for seeing stuff. I read people really well. And I'm a seventh year. I didn't come to Hogwarts until I was in my fourth year." She gave Lauren a warm smile. "Where did you go before you came here?"
"Well done!" grinned Jez, ignoring the fact that the feather had fallen. Teeny details could be overlooked. "You'll be good at Charms, Sarah!" Jez wondered if Sarah had been to a Charms lesson yet.
Sarah rubbed the back of her neck, laughing, "I'm not very good, but thanks. I'll bet you're really good at them, though."
Jez looked like the type to be really good at spells.

Jez blushed, secretly pleased at the compliment. "My older brother Keegan taught me a few spells. Well, not really taught me, just told me in incantations and showed me how they work. He's eighteen, and he's the nicest of all my siblings - I have six, and they're all pains. Only two are at Hogwarts right now, thank Merlin. Do you have any siblings here?"
Making friends, everywhere you go, just making friends.

Eino couldn't even remember half of the things he had said in the past couple of minutes. He was just talking, talking, and talking to prevent the boy from asking any further questions in relation to his nationality, because he didn't know how to answer them, not yet at least. Fortunately, the conversation now seemed to be moving onto a more pleasant subject, Hogwarts.
Yes, it was enormous and Eino himself hadn't been to every part of it (or at least the parts he knew he could access) until last year, other places were prohibited and others unknown, so Eino couldn't really say he had been everywhere. Who could? His back was beginning to ache, so he straightened his back and sat up, and after being better accommodated to have a conversation, he spoke. "As am I." He replied in regards to the classes. Although, that really wasn't his plan. If he could, he would drop two or three subjects to make more time to execute some of his plans and to practice for Quidditch. "Yes, I have also signed up, but only to satisfy the wishes of my friends. I do believe to be quite inapt and possess inadequate knowledge of the sport, seeing as I don't know the different between a quattle and a bludger." Not to mention he had barely learned how to fly properly last term.
Mia couldn't help but grin. It was true that she had always known what she wanted to do with her life but she had also kept an open mind as well. Just in case things in her life took a change in direction. "Very close. This is my last year." And she hoped it went by very fast. She was ready to take on the world. Well...kind of.

[B]"Oh, cool,"[/B/ Lauren said with a smile masking her jealously. Her time at Hogwarts had barely began but already she was wishing it over, how unusual of her... "Will you miss it?" she asked with a slightly tilted head.
She nodded in agreement with Mia's words "Yeah, you're probably right. I don't think I'll ever figure it out though," Lauren shrugged and smiled. "I want to travel though. And I want to do something involving history, I think," she mused. Maybe an archaeologist, or something.
Lauren laughed along with Mia, enjoying her infectious personality. "That's a good trait to have. I'm so socially awkward and all I can read is books," she explained with a laugh. "Oh, cool! I'm glad I'm not alone," she smile in return "I didn't really go to many schools before. At least not for long. I travelled around more than anything else," Lauren explained.

Having decided she needed to have some quiet time, and there was no way she was getting that in her dormitory, common room, or on the grounds, the next best place to do so was the library. It was a RULE to be quiet in here.
Scanning the rows and rows of books, looking for something interesting, she was only in the 'D' section when a title came across her interest. Dreadful Denizens of the Deep. Pulling it down from it's shelf, she opened it up to a random page as she started to make her way to the lounge area, and ultimately...to her favorite seat. Yes, she had favorite seats everywhere. It was a good day today apparently since no one was sitting in this favorite seat of hers. Especially no Miss Stubborns either.
Crossing her legs, she adjusted her uniform, head girl badge shining in the light before she started to become immersed in the book.

Since he had never really been to the library, for educational purposes, during the past six years he had spent in Hogwarts, Josh was a little bit confused about how to find what he was looking for among those hundreds of bookshelves and millions of books they had on them. Hopefully he was quick to see that the shelves was on an alphabetical order. Still...one needed to know what book they were looking for if they wanted to make use of that alphabetical basis. Maybe the book he needed was not starting with the 'U' of the Unicorn. It was not a must for books about Unicorns to have a title that started with the word 'Unicorn' itself anyway. But since that idea made his search way more complicated for himself, the Gryffindor decided to just drop it and pick a 'Unicorn' book from the 'U' section.
Maybe he'd ask Donovan's help for the perfect one later, but it was not now for he already had spend too much time among bookshelves for his own habit-of-body. So he was just going to pick the first book about the horned-horse...
...yet definitely NOT that one with PINK cover.
Narrowing his eyes at the pink cover, Josh immediately walked away from him happily coming across one with decent book cover colours. It was dark brown with a white unicorn's head pic on it and no titles as he could he. Huh. Weird. But it looked like a good book anyway. Putting it safely under his arm, the lion boy made his way to the Reading Loudge where he had never visited before. The seats looked comfortable though and...
Aha!! Evelyn was there....reading stuff. Nice. Maybe she could tell him if this book was good enough.
''Hey...'' he said cheerfully approaching the Slytherin girl and waving the book at her yet he stopped and his smile vanished when his dark brown eyes spotted the shining THING on her that said:
HG
NO. That was fake, right? But why would Evelyn wear a stupid fake badge? She would not do such a thing. Then it must be him imagining things. But he would never imagine THAT. Then...
Life must have been kidding him.
*stare-blink*
