The class room is arranged as it was during the last lesson, the desks forming a semi-circle facing the board and Professor Scabior's desk; the windows are open, and the fresh, clean scent of spring is in the air.
Professor Scabior is leaning against his desk, looking more relaxed than ever. Perhaps if everyone was lucky, this lesson would fly by, just like the last.
OCC:Class will not start until late tomorrow (in about 24 hours), so feel free to post your character arriving. Just please keep chatting to a minimum. CLASS HAS STARTED! Do not post your character late (if you want to join just act as if your character was there the whole time!). Doing so will result in loss of points. If you just happen to be joining the class then you are on the "normal wands" side.

"Alright the people who are out-" He turned his head to look at the three girls. "Don't zone out just yet. Anyone who gets out might just have a chance to get extra points. Who ever does the best job in encouraging their classmates-even giving them creative answers will also get additional points."
Yeah? Good. It would probably be smart to pick one person and help them along but...he'd let them figure that out.
"And the four elder wands are still in this I see." He turned back to the remaining class. "Now Beedle wasn't specific on what death actually was. And who expected him to be? It was seen as a fairy tale. But yes, he did call it death. And death tricked the brothers. He pretended to congratulate them and offered them gifts. Anything they wanted, so they all picked their gifts, crossed the bridge and parted. For this class we are going to be focusing on only the eldest brother. Now, does this brother have a name?"
Jonathan took his steps as the professor had told him. This time he carefully listened again as he started talking and taking further more discussion into the fairy tale. Beedle the Bard is a wonderful writer. He did have certain imaginations and The Tale of The Three Brothers were Jonathan's favorite book. It was well written.
Name of the eldest brother? That was the follow-up question. "Their were three brothers" obviously as he already said earlier. Jonathan manage to spot his stupid remark and went on with the correct answer "The eldest of the three is Antioch Peverell... the man with great arrogance and greed" Jonathan smirked at that last comment. Well, he did ask for a powerful wand from death, which showed that side of him.

Alright so he had passed but Kurumi had not....that wasn't fair for her answer was more unique then others who passed even himself. Gideon sighed to himself taking his steps but wondering if he should continue. No sense getting in trouble though so he turned his attention back to the next question and the answers already given. He knew an answer...something that his classmates werent touching on so he did instead.
"That would depend...for in the actual tale he is simply known as the first or eldest brother," he answered but he wasn't finished. "Beedle didn't name him though over the years people have linked him to Antioch Peverall and his brothers as the other two."

Well...this was an interesting game, wasn't it? Vashti bit her lip as she watched some of her fellow classmates get sent off to the side but she didn't pay attention to them for long because the professor was asking yet another question. Her hand shot up. "He isn't given a name in the tale itself, Professor," she said, "but many believe that he is a reference to Antioch Peverell, so that is generally accepted as the name of the eldest brother."

"Right. Nice job mentioning the book too" Even if he didn't ask for that. "But take your three steps."
"Right. That works. Three steps, then."
He nodded "Three steps."
"Yes that is the book that the tale is from but someone already gave me that extra bit of information." Nod. "Three steps."
"Giving me the author too? Good. Good Three steps, then." He liked different types of information.
She did? What...Scabior payed before he began to chuckle. Alright. He saw the issue with his question."That is a smart answer. Take four steps."
"Three steps." Slight head nod.
"I didn't ask for the name of the book. I asked for the name of the tale. Sure the name would be a nice addition but pay attention to the question." Scabior paused. "Take your three steps." He would explain why he let William go later.
"Right. Good. Great. Four steps."
"Good, four steps for you then." He called out. Not really hearing anything else that she murmured because he was on the other end of the room.
"That's good then isn't it? Take four steps." Yeah.
Another one that had a different way of looking at the question. "Great! You can take four steps instead of three."
"Right. Three steps." He didn't care how large the steps were. Really the person who took larger steps would probably be the smartest.
"That's nice then isn't it? Take your steps." Three to be exact.
---------
Scabior cleared his throat before bringing the tip of his wand to his neck. "That was really just a trial. If it hadn't been a lot of you would have been out by now. We're really going to start now. A bit of advise? Answer the question I ask then add additional information or maybe just say something to make me laugh. If the extra information that you add just copies whatever someone else says...you won't be moving on." Fair warning right? "Oh, and the winner of this game wins a fair amount of points." He smirked.
"The Tale of The Three Brothers was written by Beedle the Bard and put together in a book called The Tales of Beedle the Bard with a number of other short stories. Obviously the book talks about three brothers. Now in the tale the three brothers were wizards and they are able to find a way to cross a particularly deadly river by creating a bridge. But when they are only halfway across a figured appears and blocks their path. Who or what is this figure?" The funny thing about this game was that even if the students didn't know the answers, as long as they could keep him entertained they would be able to move forward.

"Right. Good job adding that extra bit of info as well. Take your steps." Three to be exact.
Dash had to start eliminating people. He knew that. Or their really wouldn't be a point to the game...unfortunately August was not one of them."Well that bit is from a muggle fairy tale, but they stole it from the Three Brothers." He chuckled. "You can take your steps." He didn't answer the question completely but he put his own spin to it.
Muggle Movies..right."...I would ask why you even know about films that are over 80 years old but..." He would just drop itl even even he hadn't seen those old films. "You can take your steps..." But her answer clearly had to be shaped better next time.
"...Dementors cousin?..." He paused..the thought never occurring to him before. "Yes...could be.." NOW he just wanted to go and research more. "Take your steps. Good job." Not that he expected less from a Slytherin.
He had basically repeated everything he sad but added Death's name and reworded it. Which actually made it sound completely new...smart."Yes, great. Take your three steps."
Scabior WOULD have let it go. He would have. But the one slip made him cringe. "...The Grim Reaper does not carry around an axe" No no no. THAT mistake changed everything. "You're done Miss Carter-Hope. Stand off to the side, and make sure you pay attention"
"Right." He also talked a bit about the magic. Good. "Tale your steps.
Pause..."Your answer...." Pause..."Was almost the exact same as Mr.Escalante..." He paused once more. "That won't do. You can join Miss Carter-Hope off to the side."
Scabior nearly snorted at the impression that Sierra gave."Very nice visual. But I doubt he was a Slytherin. He did get out smarted at one point and that doesn't happen to them. Take your steps."[/b]
He paused. "Take your steps. That was either well thought out..or you just are good at making up stories and ideas." Either way she got through.
Dash chuckled once more."This is true. Haven't seen a death thing talk before. However the Bard said it was Death and you mentioned that so take your steps."
There was nothing creative about the answer but it was accurate...he would let it go. But only this time."Take your steps." Hopefully the boy would remember next time.
Scabior stared at the Prefect for a whole minute, before opening his mouth. "You should join Miss Carter-Hope and Miss Wheatborn off to the side. There was nothing creative or personal about anything that just left your mouth." And so..that was that.
Again a generic answer...and again he would let it slide for this round."Take your steps."

William took three more steps. William raised his hand. " The brother was never named. but it had been determined to be Antioch Peverel later" William told the professor.

Kurumi stared at the professor. And what about half of the other answers that were merely repeats of other people's? How were THOSE any more personal or well thought out? Oh, wait, that's right...most of those simple answers had come from Slytherins who they all knew this man favored. Crossing her arms, Kurumi headed over to the side and thought about heading straight for the door, bang over her shoulder, and never taking another step in the History of Magic classroom as long as this man was around. It was a load of rubbish and no matter what she did or said he had something against her. She wanted to call him a liar, because she wasn't buying the hot air he had just breathed in her direction about his reason, and had even turned around to do so, when she saw that August was looking as though he were about ready to pass out. Right, he had grown up in the non-magical world and didn't know this tale at all.
Forget that August was one of the Elder Wand people, his panicked face made her TEMPORARILY forget how much she wanted to throw raw cookie dough in the man's face, and scooted a bit off to the side closer to where August was. "Take a deep breath and relax August," she said, encouraging him from behind. "Don't assume that everything has an obvious answer. The eldest brother was never referred to by any name other than the eldest brother in the tale. Everything else is only speculation."

August was stumped. If only Professor Scabior would wish to discuss 'The Little Engine that could' or 'Snow White', August would have a huge advantage to his classmates but it was the other way around. He looked around nervously but then heard a calm voice behind him--his conscience?!
No it was Kurumi. *shug* About the same thing right? He listened quietly and then nodded, thinking hard about what she said to him. "Professor the oldest brother was never given a name by our narrator the Bard and it can be assumed he was a greedy older brother who chose to cross the bridge first and jump at the idea of being given gifts by death." he paused and then added something else. Alyssa was surprised that she was still in the game. She had so thought that she would be cut after making that stupid comment about the Freddy Krueger movie. It wasn't like everybody would know or had seen it. Not only was it a muggle movie but it was an ancient one at that
So she decided that she's better think more carefully about the answer to the next question before answering. She took another three large steps and when the Professor asked his next question, she thought hard before raising her hand and answering it. "Professor, yes this brother had a name just like his other brothers. I believe that his first name was Antioch and his last name was Peverell. I guess since he was the eldest his first name started with the first letter of the alphabet."

Sky stalked off to the side FUMING. At least her answer had been more creative than some of those twits who had STAYED IN THE GAME! Who ever said that the Grim Reaper didn't carry an axe anyway. Cause it dang sure wasn't a sword! And now they were all giving LAME answers. She scoffed and muttered under her breath "Lame." She decided to stay off to the side and see who deserved her help. So far she wasn't impressed

Once she had Scabs attention, Sierra gave the man a half smirk, half pleased grin. It surely didn't escape her that he was a bit amused by...something. Likely the impression she'd done of what the hooded figure looked like. He didn't seem to like her Slytherin answer.
Well, pin a rose on your nose, Scabs. She still thought the hooded figure was a Slytherin. No Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff could ever pull that threat off. Anyway... At the sound of another question, she raised her hand.
"Well, most people do have a name. I've never met a person who didn't," she began, "but the author doesn't come right out and tell us the name of the eldest brother. He's just referred to as 'the older brother." Hmm... "Oh, and 'a combative man'." They'd said that, too. Aha! Three more giant steps for Tori! WINNING! The redhead smirk smirk smirked to herself and took three huge steps forward, stretching her legs out as far as they would go. With that accomplished, she straightened up and answered the latest question.
"Yes," she answered smartly, "because he is a man and men are given a name when they are born, we can ASSUME that he has a name. HOWEVER, in his tale, Beedle never specifically called him anything other than the eldest brother, really, so all this speculation about the Peverell Brothers and their Deathly Hallows is rather.... pop fiction."

HOWEVER, in his tale, Beedle never specifically called him anything other than the eldest brother, really, so all this speculation about the Peverell Brothers and their Deathly Hallows is rather.... pop fiction."
The answer would have been good, if she didn't go on about the Peverell Brothers. "I specifically said we were only talking about the oldest brother." He nodded to the out group. "Go take your spot with them."

More than half that class had been put out of the game now, and the students that were still in the game were basically in the middle of the room. Did more people have to go? YUP. "Alright, the brothers assumed name was Antioch Peverell, but no one knows this for a fact." He started loudly so that everyone could hear. "The oldest brother-assumed to be Antioch asked what Beedle tells us to be Death, for the ultimate wand. The most powerful wand that would make him unbeatable. Death agreed and created a wand out of a nearby elder tree. Now the oldest brother was a really arrogant man. And after getting a unbeatable wand he just got worse. Antioch soon met up with death again, after he was killed. Why was he killed?"

Another aquaintance out of the running, Gideon mused as Jonathan was called out of the running. He briefly watched as he walked away before turning back to the professor as the attention was back on him. The Gryffindor gave a soft sigh of relief as his answer was once more accepted and listened as the lesson went on and the next question was asked.
"He was killed because of his arrogance and his bragging about the elder wand. His killer wanted the wand for himself to be the unbeatable one so disposed of the eldest brother to take possession of it," he answered giving his best thoughts on the subject.

Wotttttttttttttt?! Gasp! Tori was OUT now? Why? She had given the correct answer!!! The girl flicked her hair back and stomped off to the side, folding her arms and generally pouting at being kicked out of the game.
She HATED this class. Now. As of now. Yep.

Well, taking her steps with the teensy beaming expression, Evelyn looked at the others, seeing who was still standing and who was out. Seeing the ones that were kicked out had the Slytherin raising a brow. What in the world? When did Kurumi get over there? Blinking a few times, she turned her attention back to Scabior when it was time to move on. Why was the oldest brother killed. "Because he was a heavy sleeper." Seriously. That wasn't her full answer though. "And he wasn't careful. Boasting about an unbeatable wand to the public wasn't the smartest move since he wasn't the only greedy person in the world to want that much power that the wand apparently had; from his words that is. Clearly lack of brains ended his life early."
"No he didn't" Scabior shook his head. "That was his assumed name. It was never proven. You can join the others at the side." Scabior nudged his eyes to the three girls over at the side.
"I didn't ask about the three brothers." Scabior said raising his eyebrows. "I specifically said that we were focusing on the eldest brother. You can join the others too the side as well." CLEARLY he was getting picky.
"No. People believe that Antioch is the eldest brother. But it has not been proven. Just saying he is means you are wrong." Scabior nudged his head over to where the people who got kicked out were. "You can join those guys."
"Exactly. People link the eldest brother to Antioch Peverall." A nod. "Take your three steps."
He paused. Talking the information in. Yes. It had a SMALL bit of difference."It is generally expects. Why? I don't know. But yes you can take your steps."
"No. It was never determined to be Antioch. There is no proof of that." None at all. "Join the others at the side. Pay attention.
Hm. Well, his explanation of the older brother had been extremely different."Take your three steps." He said hesitantly.
"That's a good guess but it's not true at all. There is no proof to what the brothers real name was." He shrugged. Bye? "You can join the others at the side. Pay attention."
"Riggghttt." Clearly she was correcting his mistake. "The name was stuck with him, although it was never proven to be true. Take your steps."
"Of course. He must have had a name. But it has never been proven. Take your steps."
Everything Sierra said he had heard from the class already...except for the added description of the man. His eyes narrowed as he thought. "Alright..take your steps."
The answer would have been good, if she didn't go on about the Peverell Brothers. "I specifically said we were only talking about the oldest brother." He nodded to the out group. "Go take your spot with them."

William joins the others on the side. He did not like this game anyway. This class is called History of Magic. not history of reading.

Why...the eldest brother had died? Hmm. Indiana bit her lip a little as she thought about this. Well, she knew the answer, but she was trying to work out how to say it, so that she wouldn't be out. Maybe...the wand was the reason why he was killed? "I think it was the wand..." She mused with a smile. "He thought he had the most powerful wand in the world, and went on to brag about it, which caused other people to get jealous and want the wand. Thus the man was killed, so that another could have the wand. Hence why I think the wand led to the death." Kind of worked.

Sierra glared at her competition. She'd made it this far in the game, and she wasn't about to give up now! Her eyes fell upon the Head Girl, and she gave a slight frown. Dang it! Evelyn was still in! She'd be hard to beat... Scabs should totally give Sierra a few extra steps, simply because she was only a third year. ...and awesome, of course.
"He was killed, because he doesn't know how to keep a secret," she answered, her hand raised. "It doesn't take a brain surgeon at St. Mungo's to figure out that if you own something that strong and powerful, you just stay quiet about it. The eldest brother had a big mouth, and so when he publicly announced the information about the Elder Wand, he practically opened himself up to be killed for it. Of course everybody else was going to want it."Everybody had a little bit of Slytherin in them. "He cared more about making sure others knew how awesome he was with the wand in his possession and less about keeping his secret weapon a...well, secret."

Victoria was confused. Why didn't professor tell her to take her steps? She answered the question loud and clear for everyone to hear. Why didn't the professor say anything. Victoria was afraid to move any steps now without the instruction of the professor.
Victoria merely glared at the window and mumbled the answer to the next question. "He gloated and boasted endlessly in an inn about his Elder Wand - and how it's invincible and unbeatable. That's why he was killed. A bloke came to his bedside during the middle of the night and slit his throad. But that was how he died."
Simon looked at the Professor and smiled. "He was killed because someone wanted to do it." He was sure that would be a good answer and well he didn't need to know all the details right.

Alyssa had guessed that it was a trick question and so wasn't surprised when she was booted out. Although she did groan silently when she saw that Sierra had made it through. But she could still help the others beat her. She just had to see who she wanted to help.

Scabior nodded."Right you can take your steps." if Gideon was smart and took big ones the boy could be at least two arm lengths away.

"Honestly you couldn't be more right. Maybe if he wasn't such a deep sleeper he would have heard the other man enter his room. Take your steps." That was a good, different way of looking at things.

The answer would have been accepted. Except there was a slight flaw. And Scabior did not like flaws."He didn't think he had the most powerful wand in the world. He did have the most powerful wand in the world." It was a nice run for a first year. "Please join your other classmates off to the side."

If you came up to me and said hey look I have the most powerful wand I'd nod and say that's nice." Flaws. Lots and lots of flaws. And...he just wanted more people to get out. "You can join your classmates over there." He nudged his head, in the direction.

"As simple as that question is...it can also work." Someone wanted to kill him, and so they did it, and he died. Scabior was only accepting it because the obvious statement had not already been said.
----------- No one had really take his advice of cheering other people on. Pity. Because it was actually an easy way to win points, and to help a friend win. "So the older brother was killed, probably because of his bragging. But it also could have been due to the fact that he was stupid enough to sleep in the same Inn in which he killed a man, someone who could have been great friends with his killer....and he did so without any protection charms." Idiot. "The wand could have just been taken for pay back. But of course, greed is the well known or more noticeable idea." if Because it also made a little more sense.
He gazed around at the people who were still left. They were actually really close to him now, and yet their were still a bunch of people left. Maybe their would be more than one winner? Just maybe.
"After the oldest brother was killed, what happened to his wand?"
OOC: I want to wrap the game up soon so everyone who gets this question right wins.

That...
...wasn't what...
...she meant. Great. So she got out, because Scabs misunderstood her answer. She wouldn't argue her point, because it really wasn't worth it, but she'd have much rather gotten out because her answer was wrong and not because it was misunderstood.
She sighed and joined the group who'd been kicked out the game.
