Last lesson... Yeah, the professor did say something quite important at the last part... But what was it again? It was obvious that it was something about a wand since last time they were talking about the core, length and wood of a wand and it's importance to a wizard...
Wand.... Oh yeah... Something about the elder wand. That was it right? Jonathan raised his hand. He seems to remember part of it. "Professor you told us that" he said as his hand was raised high enough for the professor to see. He'll give this one out a try. "Wand of... Elder" uhmmm... "Never prosper" he added.
Or something like that...

"You asked us to think of the saying 'Wands of elder never prosper," Sky answered. Which she hadn't. She'd been way too caught up in the other things going on around the school. Whoopsie! She thought about it now while listening to her classmates answers.

August thought back to see if he had really thought about the question the professor has posed a the end of the last lesson. He hadn't really set aside anytime to really sit and ponder it but he had spent the whole walk back to his common room after the lesson thinking about it--well apart from the time he got distracted by a game of gobstones.
Deciding that he had at least thought about it some, the Gryffindor stood up and walked slowly over to stand on Professor Scabior's right side.

"Be honest." What? "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" Tori drawled, totally perhaps on purpose. She blinked at Scabior, particularly when they were suddenly pushed back against the wall.
She slowwwwwwwly stood up and marched up to the front of the room and gave Scabior a deliberate look as she pretended to decide between the left and right sides of the room.
And then she moved to the right. Duh, because Tori already knew the meaning of this phrase AND she had even done more thinking about it.

Actually thought of the meaning? Well....
He thought about it that same day and time the comment was said, but not really picked at it nor researched the topic. Gosh, he should have known this was going to happen. He knew somewhat about what it mean, but not the full extent.
Kennedy stood up and was about to go right, but then thought about it. What if they were asked what the meaning was? What if they got points taken of for going left?
Gaaaaaaah!
Making up his mind, he went to stand left to the professor. The only thing he needed was for Scarbior to embarrass him in front of the class for not having researched the topic.

Now, when he said thought about, how long did he mean? Yes, Kurumi had thought about it immediately following the class, but once other homework and prefect duties started picking up, she hadn't spent any excessive amounts of time pondering the deeper meaning of the expression. There had been Quidditch...and Gobstones as well. Not to mention the hours in the library helping Jonathan prepare for his OWLs, dealing with a moody Walnut whose fur still hadn't fully grown back from the Headmaster shaving him...
Yeah, there had been a lot on the young prefect's mind these past few weeks between classes.
Deciding that she could not honestly say that she had fully thought about the deeper meaning behind the phrase - more like a slight glaze over its words and a baseline meaning, Kurumi moved from her spot, head hanging slightly, and slooooooooooooowly made her way towards Professor Scabior's left side. Only briefly thinking about it wasn't enough to valid herself the right to stand to his right, she stood just slightly left of him and looked up at him with an apologetic bow of the head.

Victoria stood up from her seat and immediately moved to the professor's left side. If she hardly remembered it, how could she had time to think about it? She feels quite embarassed about forgetting what the professor told her. Ugh...she really needs to write down all her notes from now on.
She looked around the people on the left side of the professor. Oh...what if the professor took off points from all those people? That would mean...*gulp*...less points for Slytherin. Victoria now looked longingly to the right side.

Alyssa was torn. She didn't know which side of the Professor she should be standing next to. This was a very tricky situation. During the last lesson after the Professor had mentioned the saying and asked them to think about it's meaning, she had actually done some research on it and read up on how that saying came about. So she should be standing on his right, but she was afraid that if he did that he would quiz her and if he didn't like the answer, he would take away points from her...and he was liable to do considering that his mood had seemed to change and he was smiling lesser than he had earlier.
Then of course there was the left side where most of the students had stood. She was afraid that if she stood there, the Professor would deduct points from her because she hadn't done what he had told them to do. But then he couldn't take points from everybody, could he?
Either side, the chances of her losing points was high from her point view. So she decided to risk it and went over to stand by his left. She closed her eyes and prayed that she hadn't made the worst mistake of her life.

Blink.
Good Merlin, there were people that actually thought about that? Truth be told, the Slytherin had forgotten about it the moment she left the classroom. There was way too much on her mind to be trying to find a deeper meaning to a saying. Standing up, since everyone else was doing so, Evelyn sighed and crossed her arms, moving to the Professor's Left side.
Sure, she probably could've figured out some deeper meaning in the few seconds there was while everyone was getting settled but that required work in which would probably be revealed not minutes from now.

Elise blinked. He was splitting them up?
Elise's gaze flicked between the two lines. She had thought about it, she really had. But how much did he mean by thought? She'd spent about an hour in the library trying to figure out its meaning, but she wasn't sure if she could answer everything he'd quiz her on.
She should be on the right, she had thought about it, and acually had a theory on the meaning. But what if they were quizzed and he didn't like their answer? He'd take off points, and that was't something El wanted.
But if she went to the left, he'd still take of points. Cause that'd mean that she hadn't done the work assigned.
Sucking in a deep breath, Elise decided that she had thought about it. As she moved to the right side, she prayed that she hadn't made one of the hugest mistakes of her life.

Oh no! Ira had totally forgotten about it! But it seemed there were many others who had forgotten too...
But would the professor cut points? Ira hoped not. Of course he couldn't cut points of so many students, surely? Whatever it be, she couldn't go to the right, because she would be knee-deep in trouble if she was asked questions.
So better to stick with the crowd. So, Ira went to the left of Professor and stood there.

| ♣ Heejin here | Did somebody say coffee & cakes? | cat lover ♣ Oh right... WANDS. See? He nodded when the professor corrected him. Now, he has to keep that in mind at least. Wands of elder.. Never prosper. What was that suppose to mean? Well, it could definitely mean differently depending on the understanding of one person. Was there really a valid answer to that saying?
Jonathan wasn't too big on sayings. So for this one, he'll have to go to the left side. Some people may do have something to share but if this was punishment then, Jonathan has nothing else to do. He can't explain that one easily.
Moving to the left side like some of the students did. Okay, so what does the professor have in mind, that he wants the class split into two? |

Why did teachers always do that? She did not want to be bloody split up and yet it seemed that in every class, without fail, the teachers would divide the group. Selina would have been perfectly contented with a simple lecture filled class, but no. This she would be denied and it sort of really annoyed her.
But she pulled herself up from her seat and started to congregate with the rest of the students. Without even thinking about it she went to his right. She just sort of shrugged nonchalantly in his direction and took her place among the other students.
Where was the EASY button?

What happened? Something changed in their Professor's tone. Like his mood shifted or something.
Her eyebrows started arching as Professor Scabior gave them additional instructions. And the class was going to be split up again? Yes, again. As most classes did. Splitting them.. With a sigh, Beatrice stood up and moved over to his left side. So she really didn't have any idea about that saying he had told them at the end of his last lesson. So yeah, she'll need to stick with those who were like her.

Simon looked at the Professor has he shook his head, well there was one thing this Professor didn't take points of though since Simon had been ill the last lesson how was he suppost to know what it was the Professor had said and he was sure that would have been a good guess.
Simon decided to go to the Professor left when he spoke next, he didn't care what the Professor said to him, he wouldn't think out of lesson even if the Professor had ask him to do it for homework, that was his free time so why should he spend so much time on thinking about things for lessons plus there was his OWL's at the end of the term which was more important.

Who had time to ponder a phrase with that enormous end of the year project Scabior had also assigned them?! Sierra hadn't started on said project yet, but that didn't necessarily mean she had the time to go pondering phrases either. Between Quidditch and calculating six billion boring sets of numbers for Hadley the Points Hacker, Sierra was left with no other choice...
...and so she joined those grouped on the left side of the professor.

Quote:

And then she moved to the right. Duh, because Tori already knew the meaning of this phrase AND she had even done more thinking about it. Quote:

Quote:

But she pulled herself up from her seat and started to congregate with the rest of the students. Without even thinking about it she went to his right. She just sort of shrugged nonchalantly in his direction and took her place among the other students.
Where was the EASY button? Scabior had expected there to be less people on his right side. But he didn't expect this much of a difference. Really..there were only four people on his right side. "Wow. Maybe I should have assigned homework then." He was done with being nice and not giving them homework now.
The numbers didn't stop him from what he had in mind though. "Alright so- August, Victoria, Elise and Selina did what I told you lot to do." It was strange calling students by their first names but he had to make sure that everyone understood who he was talking about. "We are going to play a little game. I call this game...the duelling game...without any real duelling" As he spoke he turned and began to walk to the back of the classroom by the desks. "So since August, Victoria, Elise and Selina all thought about the wands of elder saying, in this game, they are going to be known as the four with wands made out of elder. The rest of you will be known as the people with normal wands." Clear so far? Good. "The way you will all use your hypothetical wands is by answering questions that I ask. Just like how we normal do in class." Soo why was this a game, and what was the point of the hypothetical wands? He was getting to that. "Everytime I ask a question. You answer, which can be considered an attack on me. But if your answer is...general...boring...or not really thought out, you get kicked out of the game. And I will tell you if you get kicked out, and you sit off to the side." Or stand. He took a breath. "If your answer is good, that means your shot was good, and you get to take a couple of steps forward-lets say three. Who ever gets back here beside be first wins. We are going to see if its true that the elder wands never prosper." The number of people with elder wands was far less than the ones with the normal ones, but really....that was how it was in the wizarding world. "Everyone clear?" Hopefully. He was just going to shoot the questions out. OOC: It's really straight forward. I ask questions, you answer. If Scabior doesn't like your answer/has heard it too many times you are out. Trust me, there's a point to this. If you just happen to be joining the class then you are on the "normal wands" side.
