 A large board is fixed to the stone wall outside Professor Bentley's office near the terrace. The noticeboard is a place where you can find information about classes, homework and any other Herbology related items. It is updated on a regular basis, so make sure you check it regularly so that you don't miss anything. | |

Task:
Answer the following Questions:
1) List three ways in which you may obtain toadstools; and identify a positive and negative aspect of each option. (3 points)
2) Write a short essay on a toadstool of your choice (which has not been covered in class). When writing your essay please consider the following points: what is the primary magical property of the toadstool? Are there any cautions to consider? What is the availability of the toadstool? (Is it easy to grow/ is it endangered), and what is it about that toadstool you find particularly interesting? (7 points)
Note: You essay should consist of a minimum of two paragraphs to be eligible for full marks.

Herbology Busy Bee
Due to an unfortunate circumstance involving a snow dragon and fire, greenhouse three is no longer in operation. We need YOU to lend a helping hand, to restore the greenhouse to its former glory. Due to excessive flooding, the greenhouse is uninhabitable for plants at this point in time. The aim of this busy bee is to restore and renovate the greenhouse, for future use.

a) For turning compost?
b) For pruning/cutting back shrubs?
c) For harvesting medicinal herbs?
d) For planting root and bulb crops?
e) For harvesting seeds?

OOC: Use the class notes as well as other internet sources to interpret the calendar (please include references in the PM). If you need any extra help feel free to send me a PM.
Extra Credit Activity:
For extra credit, worth up to a further 10 points, please complete the following activities.
1. Select two activities from the list of activities provided in the homework assignment. Once you have done this, you are to complete these tasks in the Student Garden and in the Greenhouses. This should be done at the time of month you think is most appropriate for the tasks by interpreting the information on your Moon Planting Calendar and the dates you have identified to be the best in your homework assignment. OOC: You may do these activities individually, in pairs or in small groups. You are required to post a minimum of three times per activity to be eligible for full marks. The more detail, the higher the mark will be. Please see the list below for activity allocations. Greenhouse Three is still OFF LIMITS.
Greenhouse: pruning, harvesting medicinal herbs, planting root/bulb crops, harvesting seeds.
Student Garden: turning compost, pruning, planting root/bulb crops.
Submit the links of your RP’s with the homework as per usual. If you do the activity in groups each member is required to submit their own posts.
Also note that you CAN only do one activity for extra credit if you wish (only you can only earn up to 5 points that way). But do note that you HAVE to have done the homework assignment in order to be ELLIGIBLE for the extra credit exercise. Worth:
