Eat, drink, and be merry, O Lions. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
"Thank You. I hope that might be better." she said smiling."This is your last year of study?"
" I was borin in Turin, Italy" William told Ann. " My father is Italian and my mother is English" William said to Ann. " I traveled in America a lot so I did lose most of my accent" Willaim explained to Ann. ' Hope you enjoy HogWarts' Willaim smiled.

" I enjoyed meeting you" Willaim told Alyssa. " You will see me around for sure' William smiled. " We will jave a lot of fun together at HogWarts" William said to Alyssa. Willaim waved to her."Alyssa, you met Louise?" William asked her.

Selina shot Elektra a look when she was advertising to the world and to her new acquaintance, Gideon, that she had a harsh temper. Everyone at the Gryffindor table already knew that Selina, when provoked, had a wicked temper, but that was not the only thing about her. Most of the time she was a fun-loving and normal person to be around. Her temper was something that did not show up all of the time. So the fact that Elektra was painting her in that light was not something Selina was too keen on.
She turned to Gideon who was slightly joking about her temper and Selina defended herself, "I'm not all temper, I promise. Elektra here just likes that side of me best. Don't you Lek?"

"But don't worry because this year Selina won't blow anything up right?" she said looking at Selina.
"Don't worry Selina," he said as it wasn't entirely clear if things were okay or not. "I did meet yee beforehand. I don't need to go on just Elektra's words," he added smiling at Selina for added measure. Did she really think his opinion of her would change in an instant? Besides, from what he could see it seemed a bit like good natured ribbing between friends.
The two girls were friends right?
Passing it off as true, he focused back on the conversation, just in time to pick up on the mention of explosions in potions class. The information joined with what he had heard talking with Selina earlier clearified things. She didn't just not like it, she might be having trouble in it. "I could help...if you wanted," he offered hesitantly.

Amethyst could completely understand that. So people were stuck up, and preferred to be bowed to. She'd have to remember that. She blushed when told her that her own name sounded royal. She didn't think so, but that could have been the fact that it was her name. "Will, I can swim, but the women at the orphanage forbid me to swim." She smiled nodding, hoping that she would get to swim here, maybe.

Selina smiled back at Gideon to let him know that she was not angry at him for his comment. She simply wanted to clarify that she was not all bark and bite. There was a person under the fiery temper. Of course, that person was usually dominated by the impulse of Quidditch minor details.
When Elektra continued to poke fun at Selina she narrowed her blue eyes into slits. Elektra was always doing this when it came to Potions. Selina did not need to be reminded everyday that she was ruddy in Potions, Lafay already did that enough during the term. However, she was surprised when Gideon offered to help her out with the whole Potions issue, "Really? Like a tutor deal? Yeah, I could do that if you're up to it. Maybe you could actually teach me a thing or two. I doubt it though, others have tried."

"Dunna hurt for me to try and help," he added with a shrug. For who knows if the faulure in previous times was the girl's or who had previously helped her. The fourth year already knew Lafay could be enough for anyone to be nervous working on potions.

"Well good," Tori shot back, still wearing a playful smile on her lips. "Because I really didn't want to eliminate you from the boyfriend competition and all." He was just too adorable and good at kissing to be in her bad books.
She nodded at the question. "Same as you! I'm about ready for this feast to end so I can get back to my nice, cozy bed. Not to mention, I hear they have lots of towers and secret passages and stuff I wanna find." Hmm, that gave her an idea. "Wanna go exploring with me like tomorrow?"
Yah, lemonade and cookies! What a great combo, eh? "Want a cookie? They're waaaaaaarm," Tori added, waving a gooey chocolate chip one near (as near as she could get) to his nose.
Paulie smirked as she decided that spelling out 'trouble' would give more emphasis. "That's great. Transfer to a school that's bound to have something go wrong with it.." He didn't care much, though. He'd wanted to go here for a while now.
Hah! See that? She wanted him in the running. He grinned and then had to inquire further about that. "Speakin' of which, how are your tryouts going?" Hopefully she would TELL him how many students he was up against. This was doubtful, though.
Mmmh. A nice, cozy bed sounded pretty good right about now. "Secret passages.. huh." He'd heard about those. "Do you know where to find them?" The subject prompted a question - an offer to explore the mysterious Hogwarts! "Yeah! Sounds good to me. Had any place in mind?"
He took another gulp of his lemonade, and just as he was setting it back down, a cookie was suddenly thrusted before his nose. "Hey, what --" Ohhh. Oh, that did smell good. He took a bite, which basically took away half the cookie, leaving the remainder of it in her hand. "Thanks, your highness," he added, now taking the half-cookie from her.

She was such a slacker and she'd just started a normal school. Well, as normal as a wizarding school could be. "Yeah? Well, since you seemed to be the expert.." Well, more so then she was. "Good to know."
Brookie nodded simply. Of course she got grounded. Minnie never got grounded, and Waverly's dad always blamed Brooke for being the bad influence. He didn't know how wrong he was. <____< "It was completely stupid and not my fault. At all. It was my neighbor's fault. We were hanging out, lost track of time, and didn't come home til one in the morning." Cue the blushing. "And my parents, being them, over reacted and grounded me. For a month." GRUMBLE. Meanies. "Hm? OH. Right, I need to find a friend of mine. We had this bet going- who could meet the most people before the train. And i couldn't find him on the train. And.. yeah.." No need to explain more. Brooke NEEDED to win.
"So, you like it alright? Well, that's good to hear, i guess." Although, she wasn't too sure about her feelings on Hogwarts just yet. After seeing the dirty utensils and the birds that were inside of the castle, she had yet to make a decision on her feelings of the place. Little did she know there were more birds here than she had seen. A lot more. "Well, i'll definitely keep that in mind." Remind self to ask Paulie again later. BEAM. Her head tilted to the side, as he stared at her, confused. "What's on your mind Paaaulie?" She grinned at him, remembering their little conversation on the ending of names. So, she made sure to stretch out the "IE" just for fun. "Well, that's a good idea. I'd be fine with eating either. They're both damn good." And both were good payback. She liked how he thought.
Paulie nodded appropriately, then simply shrugged. "Well, you can't change it now, so I guess don't worry about it, huh?" Or that's how he figured. Hopefully Brooke would find it more to her liking as the term went on.
He chuckled as she began her response with 'It was completely stupid and not my fault at all.' But he waited to speak until she was finished explaining. "Wow, you got grounded for a month just for being out past your curfew..?" That was harsh. "Sounds like your parents are, uh.. kinda strict." He gave a short nod when she told him about her friend and the bet. "I hope ya win, then." That made him a point in her favor, then, didn't it? Since she met him in Diagon Alley. "So is that why you met me, eh? Just for a bet? Really, Brooke. I'm crushed." He smiled to signify that he was joking.
"Yepper. I like it a lot." Plus he just felt right here. That probably wasn't great evidence, going on a simple 'feeling,' but it was the truth. Mm, what? What was on his mind? He looked back at her for a second when she grinned and elongated his name like that. "Oh, uh.." Just that I wanna kiss you, ya know. NBD. He turned to pick up his glass, then strategically took a sip of his drink.
Chicken or turkey? Turkey or chicken? "Hmmm. They taste a lot alike, so I'll go with whichever one is nearest to me." Lazy, perhaps, but it solved the dilemma.
" Good that you can swim" William told Amethyst. " We can swim at the lake and at the pool on HogWarts grounds" William said to Amethyst." Did you know that "The Ginat Squid" lives in the lake?" William asked Amethyst.

"I know, right?" Tori clucked, not really caring about the state of things at Hogwarts. She was just happy to be here. And as long as she had a bed and food most of the time... well, she could always owl Daddy and demand to have a servant sent to Hogwarts if the elves really did quit.
Tori sighed at mention of the tryouts. "Not so well. I mean, I would be really happy if you won," she gave him a sneaky look out of the corner of her eye, "but I haven't had any one else audition!"
Not that there was a lack of candidates or anything... heheh. Hogwarts had some pretty good looking boys. Mmm.
"Well, no, I mean," Tori flipped her hair over one shoulder, "they're called SECRET passages for a REASON." She giggled. "We can start um, from the top of the castle and work our way down?" Why not.
Tori giggled a lot more when Paulie ate right out of her hand. Heheh. He WAS like a puppy! AWW! "You're welcome, my knight. See, I take care of my bodyguards." She winked. "There's more where that came from! I bet we can stop by the kitchens on our tour of the castle."
Yep yep. And then, it seemed, the feast had started. Yay! The food looked great and there was LOTS of it. Tori dug in and went for some mashed potatoes and a big turkey leg. Hmm. It was kinda... overcooked.... but good nonetheless!

Paulie grinned at her and raised an eyebrow. "Don't you determine the winner?" He wasn't entirely sure whether she was serious about the competition or if she was actually just pulling his leg. Boyfriend competitions still did sound absurd. "Well! I guess I'm in first place then, huh? And it's only the first night here.." Soo.. there would probably be more time for other gits guys to try out.
Pfffft. They were called secret passages for a REASON. "Are you mocking me?" He asked, giving her the eyeball. Starting at the top and working their way down seemed logical enough. "Okay, yeah. We'll start at the top then."
It seemed that Tori found it amusing that he was chomping on the cookie right out of her hand, but she was offering! He shoved the other half in his mouth and tried smiling - with his mouth closed - while he chewed. "That you do, Princess. That ya do." He chuckled. Scooping some mashed potatoes onto his own plate, he added, "Definite pit stop at the kitchens tomorrow."
Sage smiled. "I'm good, very excited to finally be here! Are you glad to be sorted into Gryffindor?" Sage asked. She was glad someone who she had talked to on the train had been sorted into the same house as her!
"Yes," he replied. "My father was in Gryffindor too so I'm going to send him an owl as soon as I can."
Aaron was happy. He like Sage mabey he wasn't so socially awkward as he thought he was. "Are you excited to be in Gryffindor?" He asked.

Kurumi couldn't help but overhear William's conversation with another second year. He had his facts a little wrong and was seriously falsely accusing Ronnie of being one of the reasons that Gryffindor had lost the House Cup, which was ridiculous.
"I'm sorry to interrupt," Kurumi said, popping her head in between the two of them. "William, I understand that you are upset that we lost last term, but you failed to mentioned that Slytherin won both the Quidditch Cup and Gobstones. They received points for both of those and beat us by a good 449 points." She paused to let these facts sink in for a moment. William wasn't all bad, he just sometimes needed to put his filtering system up. Especially when it came to being competitive. "We all do our best, but sometimes other people's best is just better." Kurumi was proud of her 760 points from last term, and he sound be of his 493.

Pushing her plate aside, Kurumi walked over to the girl. "You enjoying the feast?"

While she stood next to the younger girl, Kurumi noticed a boy a few spaces down who was looking a little lonely himself. This was her chance to help with some first year bonding!
"Hello," she waved. "I wouldn't bother with the mashed potatoes. They are not that good." Unlike in previous terms. Her concern about the house elves grew even more.

Christopher nodded understandingly, a look of concern still in his eyes. He was still worried about Selina, but if she didn't want to talk about it, who was he to make her? "Sel, I understand completely. But you just need to know that you aren't alone. No matter what, you have friends who will always be there for you even in the darkest times. You really need to realize that there are so many people who love you and would do anything for you. Nothing that you could do can change that."
"Hey! I never said I was some tough Quidditch player! This summer should have definitely proved that..." he scoffed, crossing his arms. He winced at when she said he needed more guy friends. True, he hadn't made hardly any throughout his time at Hogwarts, but it wasn't like he tried not to. It was just a rather struggle for him after he'd lost the only friends he'd ever known. The Muggle world had been hard enough with them there to help them, and he'd found it to be difficult to become close to anyone else in fear that he'd loose them.
After an uncomfortable silence, he was snapped back to the feast by her Quidditch remark. "Erm, okay..... You aren't.... going to make the Quidditch team?" It wasn't really karma- what she was talking about- but he didn't really believe in, let alone understand, whatever superstition she was going on about. So the teenage boy just shrugged and took a bite of some treacle tart.
When he gave her a speech about friendship and sticking together through dark times she resisted the urge to scoff. That was a honorable thing to say and with any other problem that would most likely stay true, but Selina had killed someone. Actually killed someone. Not been with someone when they died or anything dealing with death. No, she herself was the cause of her sister's death and that was never going to change. No amount of nice words or hugs or pep talks could change that fact. It was her personal cross to bare. But she did not scoff, she smiled at him and replied, "Thanks Chris, I'll keep that in mind."
"And no, you are not some tough Quidditch player. You really do need guy friends though, I was not joking about that at all." Sometimes Selina herself was counted among the boys and she had toughed up Christopher somewhat. But there was only so much the redheaded girl could do. He was a difficult case.
She threw her arms around his neck in a hug, "Thank You! You know, just keeping things safe for the try outs."

Kurumi smiled at another nervous looking first year. She looked down at her plate and felt completely uninspired to finish off her mashed potatoes. Usually, she couldn't stop eating them. But, this time, they were too starchy and dry...like the house elves had dehydrated them before mashing them.
Kurumi then spotted another boy with the smile of the century on his face join the Gryffindor table and she couldn't help but smile herself. "Welcome."
" Thanks Kurumi, I did not know Slytherin wil the GobStones, too" he told her. " I did see Slytherin win the Quidditch Cup" William said to Kurumi." I am happy you got all those points and I got gooe enoughpoints, too" William expalined yo Kurumi." I judt hope I can do better this term to help Gryffindor win" William smiled.
Gideon tilted his head slightly as Selina questioned just what exactly he meant by his offer. "Yeah...I guess thats what I mean," he said responding to her words of surprise. "Dunna hurt for me to try and help," he added with a shrug. For who knows if the faulure in previous times was the girl's or who had previously helped her. The fourth year already knew Lafay could be enough for anyone to be nervous working on potions.
Selina laughed at him when he asked her not to hurt him, "No, I won't hurt you. Unless you get out of line," she joked, "but seriously, I rarely ever hurt people with my fists. I can count on one hand how many times I have laid a hand on people. I think you're good, Gert." Gert, it was a funny last name. Then again hers was Skylar... she had NO room to comment.
Then her face softened from her laughing and she said a little more seriously, "Thank you though. You know, for offering help. I think most people here have given up on me. I could always use the help, trust me."
Christopher threw her one last worried glance before finally just dropping the subject. He could understand her not wanting to talk about it, but as long she knew she wasn't alone, which he really doubted she did anyway, he was okay. But he figured he'd just move on and badger her about it another day.
The fourteen year old scowled and rolled his eyes. "I'm working on it! Both the toughness and the friends. You know I'm anti-social, making friends is realy hard!" he said hotly, trying to ignore her amused looks. Maybe it was for her, but not so much for him.
Startled by Selina's hug, Christopher looked over, really confused at why she was so glad. "So you think it's good luck for me to tell you that you won't make the Quidditch team?" he asked, very bewildered. "Girls are so weird.... This is why I don't make friends! People confuse me!"
Soooo Hungry from the trip over here, Carson took a leg of mutton from one of the plates and took a bite out of it. It was DELICIOUS> He wondered if anyone was going to talk to him.

Selina ruffled Christopher's hair and replied in a condesending manner, "Of course you are working on it Christopher. I never doubted you... not for a minute." Then she broke into a fit of giggles, "Okay, I'm done." Then she flicked him in the nose, "Okay NOW I'm done."
When he asked about the good luck involved with karma she shook her head vigorously, "Yes! Because if you say I'm going to make it something will spite me and I won't make the team. But if you say I won't then I just have to try out like everyone else and I have nothing to lose." That was a lie, Selina LOVED Quidditch.

Gideon frowned as Selina spoke as if believing he had thought she would hurt him though as he registered what he had...with his accent...he had some clue where the mix up had happened. "No..I'm sorry Selina, I didn't mean it like that," he said with a shake of his head. "I was saying it wouldn't hurt me to try and help. Not ye...I mean you would hurt me."
Having an accent can be a pain sometimes...especially when it decides to show up stronger at times.
"But its good to know you wouldn't," he added. "And ye're welcome. Most don't have my father who may not the most patient in the world but made sure I knew how to handle myself brewing. I'm sure some of what he taught me might help you."

Christopher glared at the little red head, waiting patiently for her to finish. "Yeah, yeah. I see how it's gonna be." He had half a mind to reach over and mess up her hair, but seeing as she was a girl (and a fiesty one at that), he'd probably get his hand clawed off. As far as he knew, most girls weren't too fond of people messing with their hair and nails and designer purses and whatever. Plus, remembering his house's motto- Their daring, nerve, and CHIVALRY set Gryffindors apart- he figured he create one more act of chivalry tonight.
He raised his eyebrows, looking down at her in amusement. Especially about the last part. "Oh don't even start that Sel, you'll be crushed if you don't make the team," he said with an eye roll. Then he added with an incredibly cheesy wink, "Which you WON'T! Get it? Because you said.... And karma.... Quidditch.... Oh never mind."
"Yeah, both of 'em. I'm Pureblood." Willow replied, grabbing the potatoes off Emma. "And my older brother went here a few years ago so he told me quite a bit. He was in Slytherin though so I'm not sure what Gryffindors like really... It seems pretty good so far! You're in it!" she said, laughing once more. It was only the first night and she could tell that Emma and herself were going to be good friends!
Emma laughed. She had a point there, everyone seemed really nice and devoted to make them feel at home. Your brother got sorted into Slytherin? I thought siblings would go into the same houses... though she knew that wasn't completely true, even if you were family it didn't mean you were the same.
My parents were in denial when I got my letter. They thought someone was playing a trick on them for at least a week! Emma laughed at the memory, she had believed it straight away. She just hoped her little sister would get in in two years time.

Soo.. there would probably be more time for other gits guys to try out.
Hopefully they had some cookies on hand.
Hmm. Tori eyed Paulie carefully. "Well, yes, I am the judge in this trial...." She tilted her head a little and smiled. "And yes, you are winning, being in both first AND last place as you are. Don't worry though, Paulie, I'll keep you updated on your standing as the tryouts proceed."
Oh how full of herself was she. "Mocking? You? Me?" Tori tried her best to sound both shocked and offended. "Never!!! I would never!" HEHEHEE. He was agreeing to her plans again -- hurrah! A tour of the castle with a handsome knight. Sounded like the perfect plan to Tori.
She nodded and poured herself some lemonade. "I do wonder what's up with the house elves though. I don't think they're usually this strange...." Not that she had a pet elf at home or anything. Nope, Daddy liked to hire human maids and butlers for some reason.

Christopher hated being a first year. He didn't have any friends at Hogwarts yet, and he doubted he would make any. He was too shy to talk to anybody, so he just sat quietly. Maybe I'll meet somebody in my classes, the thought made him smile a little.
Moving over to grab the Yorkshire-pudding, Emma saw a boy sitting alone. Sitting down next to him, she smiled. Hi! Are you new here too? I'm Emma.
He looked rather shy, she hoped he didn't mind.
