Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor

As Josephina stepped into the Gobstones arena, not long after the last match ended, she twinged with sadness. She hadn't run the Gobstones Matches by herself since the first time she started advising them. She knew she could handle it, but .... It was ... strange. And to think she barely even knew the Professor she was supposed to co-advise with.

Removing the twin Gobstones bags from her tote, one full of red stones and the other yellow ones, she set them on the playing table as she waited for the players to arrive.

"Right then. You should have familiarized yourselves with the rules by now," Fina said, as they filed around the table. "I want a clean match. Zero tolerance for cheating. And let the game begin." With that, she placed the Jack Stone carefully in the center of the table and stepped back to watch.

And the teams were off, with two new Gobstones players leading the ranks.... Gryffindor third year, August Goldstein, takes a good shot with his red stone. The boy is obviously familiar with Muggle Marbles, but he will quickly learn that though Gobstones is similar, it's also quite different.

But the quickness of his roll is outdone slightly, by a yellow stone whizzing past.... it is of course, the stone thrown by none other than young second year, Miss Laughgood. And it rolls just closer to the Jack Stone than that of the red one.

Hufflepuff takes the first point of the match!

Time for some more experienced players to show the younger ones how its done! Seventh years, Josh Carter and Kita Lewis take a turn now, each giving each other a ferocious look before they roll their respective house coloured stones. The yellow one is released seconds before, rolling onto the court... a nice steady ... even path ... towards the middle...

... it stops ... a bit before the center Jack Stone ... an easy shot for the Lions to overcome ... maybe?

The red stone rolls into the center and looks like its going to pass the yellow one, but at last moment, stops JUST before it.

Yellow stone is closer to the middle and therefore, Hufflepuff wins the point and the first round of the match!

Advisor note: Both answers were quite similar; had one house mentioned "frothing" having occurred with the addition of the last ingredient, that house would have won.

Apparently they were taking nice turns around the circle today. No one person from a house would be hogging the match this time... Young and talented second year, Alyssa Potter, takes a roll for Hufflepuff ... her stone seemingly going in the right direction ... it rolls and rolls ... and OH! What's this?!

Interception by a red stone thrown by none other than veteran Gobstones player and new Prefect, Kurumi Hollingberry! As such ... it seems the red stone knocked the yellow stone off course and they both rolled out of bounds!

Advisor note: Neither answer was really what I was going for (poorly worded question on my behalf) ... so yea. We go again =D

The Badgers were still taking turns, as another one, second year, Nessie Dixon, rolls her yellow stone onto the court. It seems to be a nice position ...

... one, however, that Miss Hollingberry didn't have any issues with overcoming. Her red stone rolls right on past the yellow one... closer to the Jack Stone ... Gryf---

WAIT! What's this?! Another red stone?! Looking around the court, Fina caught the guilty look on a seventh year's face.... "Penalty to Josh Carter, for multiple rolls in a round! Hufflepuffs win the point!" Game on.

Advisor note: Answers from the same house posted 4 or more minutes apart will be penalized, where the opposing team will automatically be awarded the point for that question.

And back to another second year Hufflepuff, Miss Penny Laughgood, taking a shot. Apparently those second year badgers, though young, were quite the gobstones players. Expertly rolling her stone, the gold stone rolled right within the circular line on the court.

Easy shot for Lions to surpass, which they manage successfully with Prefect Hollingberry making the roll.... and no second throws this time, which was a bigger plus for the prefect! This now ties the round!

And Miss Potter decides to take a shot, giving Penny a break with her stone rolling..... It's a nice shot, but it was easily overcome by the throw of veteran gobstones player, Kurumi. Both stones roll onto the court, neck and neck, but upon rolling to a stop, the red one rolls a bit closer to the center Jack Stone.

One more and Gryffindor will claim the round. A shot for the badgers would mean the round is extended.

Ah .... two new players decided to take a turn with gobstones... Keefer Marius, rolls first, which admittedly is a really good shot, but then .... oh what's this!? Gideon Gert, fourth year Gryffindor, takes aim and rolls.... his stone ... seems to have been exerted much farther than Keefer's, as it surpasses it.... stopping only when it lands an inch from the Jack Stone.

Smelly ~~lion saliva~~ gob sprays all over the Hufflepuff players. Lions win the point and the round, tying the match!
