"Perhaps reading tea leaves, sir," Chris thought that sounded stupid. Sure you needed a tea pot to pour tea, but something sounded off when he said it...

Anna Banana 11-26-2011 07:17 PM

Well, ...duh. Tea leaf reading was one of the easiest and most commonly known types of Divination, wasn't it? Maybe. Maybe not. Who really cared. Sierra raised her hand into the air. "Maybe in reading tea leaves?" she suggested. "I think it's called...Tasseomancy." She eyed Thereos, thinking how it was still the strangest thing in the world to have a centaur that looked almost exactly like her father. She'd be glad when Tate hired a new Divination professor. Not because Thereos wasn't a good professor, no. It was just a little unsettling to look at the mirror image of her father with longer hair and a horse's body.

BanaBatGirl 11-26-2011 08:18 PM

"Tasseomancy, sir," Tori answered like her other classmates. "You need a tea pot to make tea to read the tea leaves!"

Oooh she'd always wanted to try this.

Jessiqua 11-26-2011 10:58 PM

Zhenya raised her hand and replied "Tea is essential when you want to do tea leaf reading," she said.

Oh well..none of her business and also no one was seating next to her in the first place. "Yeah, sure.." She said as she moved a bit to the other side to make room for him.

As the first question shot up, she raised her hand. "That type of Divination would be the reading of tea leaves." So that was why there was a noisy teapot. "Otherwise known as Tasseomancy." That pretty much was it.

"Tasseography." Victoria reply simply, and continued to look outside the window. Come on, start the class already and start reading tea leaves!

Thereos clapped his hands and gave them all a small slightly forced smile. Smiling wasn’t his thing but if it pleased the student’s he would. "The correct term is Tessomancy or tea leaf reading, 2 points to each of you. We are today going to test the art of divining with the use of tea leaves."

Turning to the Hufflepuff who had volunteered so gallantly earlier Thereos said "Can you with the help of the girl with the red badge pour tea and hand out tea mugs to everyone in the class before we continue on?" Expecting them to scurry to take on the task he lectured on "Tealeaf reading is one of the most common forms of divination which is widely used all over the world. Tea in general we drink to sooth us, for comfort and for refinement. It’s also good to drink tea with a bit of honey in it if your throat is aching."

"When the girl’s have distributed you a tea mug drink up the tea, but don’t throw out the leaves in the bottom we need them for our divination. Get to work and don’t burn your tongues!" Thereos said as he waited for the class to be ready to read the leaves in their cups.

Kurumi cocked her head to the side feeling a bit confused. Why had he seemingly forgotten her name? This was a bit odd to the fourth year, but she figured it was best to keep her mouth shut for now and simply do as she had been asked to do. So, she stood up, bowed slightly to Thereos to signal that she understood what was going on, and then headed over towards the cabinet.

As she did, she walked past Hufflepuff and smiled. "I'll get the tea cups then." After all, she had been the one to ask specifically about the tea in the beginning. Kurumi smiled and summoned a large tray to fill with white tea cups - that was the best color for this sort of thing, right? Balancing the tray on one of her arms, Kurumi walked around and placed a tea cup for each student on their desk.

Alyssa waited until her tea mug had been filled and blowing on it to cool it, she slowly sipped it. It took her awhile as the tea was not only steaming hot it was strong, but she managed to drink it all up. She made carefully sure that she didn't swallow the tea leaves as well, and was glad that when she looked into her mug that the leaves still lay at the bottom of it.

CurlyPotter14 11-27-2011 08:35 PM

Jordan was slightly cold, so he took the mug of tea gratefully. He blew on it, waiting for it to cool down. He looked about, the class wasn't too popular like he'd expected, but he was enjoying himself... Kinda.

He gulped down his tea, burning his mouth accidently, he had left the tea leaves at the bottom however, that was good. He fanned at his mouth in an attempt to cool it down... Stupid Jordan!

Sierra waited for Hollingberry and the Puffer to serve her (like house elves, mwah haha), and then she sipped on the tea until it was gone. She peered in the bottom of the cup and noticed that all the tea leaves were still in there. Hmm. Good. So now she could use them for the assignment or whatever it was they were about to do. Tasseomancy, ...yeah. She put the now empty cup (save for the tea leaves) on the desktop and then waited for the next set of instructions.

Kurumi smiled and nodded to the young Puff. Teamwork, right? They seemed to work in rhythm, Kurumi setting a cup on the table and the first year following closely behind filling up the cups. Kurumi seemed to remember another term doing tea leave readings and finding something that sort of resembled a wonky W...never did figure out what all that meant.

When she got to William's spot, she set his cup on the table. "Actually, I am just handing out the cups," she winked. But he didn't have to wait long as the Hufflepuff quickly filled his cup before moving on to the next one.

Once all the cups had been passed out and her own tea cup filled, Kurumi returned to her seat and softly blew on her own tea. Did centaurs just like their tea to be scalding hot? Kurumi liked hot tea, but the weather outside was already warm and the combination was a bit much. When it had cooled down to a drinkable temperature, Kurumi began softly sipping on it. Not bad...but she would have preferred green tea.

BanaBatGirl 11-28-2011 12:17 AM

Tori waited til she had a cup of tea and blinked at it for a bit, wondering where the tea bag was....? Since she was totes a Beverly Hills girl, and since she didn't even like tea in the first place, Tori wasn't really sure how this worked.... but whatever.

She sipped at the bitter drink slowly, blowing on it in between sips. Ewww. Where was the sugar? Kurumi SUCKED as a House Elf. She should've been following along behind the Puffer and handing out sugar cubes.

Deezerz 11-28-2011 01:13 AM

Kennedy stared down at the hot tea. He wasn't much of a tea person. The only time he drank tea was when he was sick, but other than that it was fruit juices like orange juice, apple juice, and so on. Gah, the tea didn't even smell nice, to his nose anyway.

He lifted the cup to his lips and blew on it and too a small sip. Ugh, this was like drinking medicine. He did NOT like medicine. With effort, and a lot of it, he drank every drop of tea in the cup until he could clearly see the tea leaves.

Granger1814 11-28-2011 03:43 AM

Kourtney accepted a tea cup from Kurumi, giving the older girl a quick smile. Tea...it wasn't her favorite beverage to drink, but...

She waited a few moments for the tea to cool a bit, for she didn't want to burn her lips or tongue on the hot liquid.

When the time came, she sipped at the tea for a moment, making a slight face. Ugh.

After a few minutes, she set the cup down. Well, that was an adventure in itself. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to do it again.

Enigma 11-28-2011 05:18 AM

Ira smiled at Kurumi as she came to her desk to distribute the tea mugs. Ira accepted the mug... Tea wasn't her favorite thing but it would do to get her out of sleepiness in Divination class.

The tea was steaming hot and smelled good. She slowly blew air over it for it to become a little cool and slowly she sipped it. It was refreshing!

When she was done she peered at the bottom of the cup to see that the tea leaves were there. She put her mug down on her table and waited for the next instructions.

Tazzie 11-28-2011 02:06 PM

Tea! Yeyyy..She loved tea. And they would be drinking some right now. Divination is becoming more and more her cup of tea. Heh. If someone would just get what she thought then that would be great because she did not understand it.. Teheeehee.

"Thank you Kurumi.." Beatrice told the Prefect lioness as she received a cup from her. Not a while later, Minerva poured the tea on her cup. "Thanks." She also said to the Hufflepuff. The tea sure was aromatic. Its mere smell was very refreshing and unnerving that all she wanted was to just lie down and absorb all the smell from the tea but she knew she couldn't. Thereos would probably kick her out of the Classroom and considering those legs..it won't be overwhelming.

Now, back to the lesson. With a light blow on her tea to avoid burning her tongue when she drinks it, Beatrice slowly took a sip from her cup. It was very soothing indeed. Just a small sip made her body organs relax. And that made her want to drink more, and drink she did until the cup's content was gone and the only thing that's left were the tea leaves. Now, they wait.

Magical Soul 11-28-2011 03:46 PM

Louisa smiled at the Prefect handing her the cup and cupped it with both hands. It was hot. A lot. She blew on it gently a couple of times before sipping one sip. It wasn't tongue-burning, so the girl started sipping more and more, looking down at the cup as the tea leaves were showed gradually from under the tea.

A minute or two later, her tea was gone and the leaves lied at the bottom of the cup.

Now what?

Thereos 11-28-2011 04:59 PM

Thereos watched as his student's drank up their tea some more enthusiastically then others. Oh, hrmm maybe tea wasn't for everyone it wasn't anything peculiar about that. They all needed to drink up the tea so that they could move on with fun part.

Satified when everyone had downed their portion he said "Now I want all of you to place your cup in your left hand and splash around the tea leaves in your cups 3 times. Then i want you to turn your cups upside down on a saucer which you can get up front."

"When you've done so I want you to let the water flow off the tea leaves before you change saucer with a partner of your choice. The number's should be even if not i don't mind if you work in pairs."

He let the student's process the information before lecturing on. "When you do the reading of your partners leaves you are supposed to look for symbols/shapes in the tea leaves. Some common symbols are acorn, club cross, falcon, the grim, skull and sun and they all mean different things for the future."

He then went to Alyssa and Minnie "Hey girls, do you mind if I partner up with the both of you. We are allowed upto 3 people in a group." he asked Minnie and Alyssa
