Divination lesson 3 Up front Thereos is standing looking down at a big tea pot that is giving off a small whoosh sound to alert the owner that the water in it is hot. There are no human occupants currently in the room. [OCC: Feel free to post arriving. Class officially starts tomorrow at around 3pm GMT. Remember to keep chatting to a minimun. |
Victoria poked her head in the Divination Classroom. Ehh...she had hoped the centaur would be sick or something, and they'll have a substitute. Or even running away to the forest, back with the other centaur. But no, there he is, standing over a large tea pot. Oooh...the tea pot...so they're going to read tea leaves at last? About time, thought Victoria. They had been wasting the last two, precious lessons interpreting shapes out of the moon...the water...whatever they've been doing. It's not that Victoria dislikes Divination. Believe it or not, she thinks it's quite interesting. It's just that her favorite type of Divination is tesseography, and the centaur wouldn't be bothering her so much if she's so into the class. Why did a centaur have to come a teach. Why not a human? Victoria stepped into the room, and noticed she's the first one there. Oh great, the first and only so far. Victoria gave the centaur a stiff nod and mumbled something that's suppose to be a greeting, and sat down in a seat furthest in the classroom. As far away from the centaur as possible. |
August had been to both Divination lessons so far this term and he wasn't about to miss the third. The young Gryffindor walked into the classroom on the first floor expecting to see a whole room of students and a centaur professor but was suprised to only see one other person in there. Hmmm...he was early. Going over and taking a seat, Auggie pulled out his parchment and waited for the lesson to start. |
Jordan poked his head around the door, wondering how many other people were in the classroom. He saw two other people there... Well, the class hadn't started yet so. He walked in and went over to take his seat. However, not before he had greeted his professor, "Good day!" he smiled before he took his seat. |
Alyssa walked into the Divination Class. She saw the Professor staring into a big tea pot. I wonder are we going to be reading tea leaves this time. I guess we'll find out soon enough'. So before taking a seat she walked up to greet the Professor, "Hello Professor. It's good to be back in your class." Once she greeted the Professor, she went and sat down at the nearest table, took out her journal and writing materials and waited for class to start. |
Kennedy made his way to Divination class, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He wished he could be under his warm covers, sleeping the day away. Sure, the day was pretty and all, but sleep sounded better after all the finals he's had to do. He couldn't wait until they were out of school. He slid into one of the front desks and said, "Good day, Professor Thereos." He also couldn't wait until this class was over. |
When the notice went up for the latest divination class, Gideon was tentative once more about the subject as he had been for the other lessons despite trying his best to keep an open mind. However reminded of Selina's confession to him, he decided to approach the subject area of divination with a bit more of an understanding. It was after all a part of his girlfriend's life and he should do his best to learn what he could even if it didn't fully fit into her seer ability. So that was the main reason the fourth year was heading to the first floor classroom ready for class. Entering the room, Gideon looked around and noticed the centaur inside as well as a few other students already there. "Good day Professor Thereos," he greeted simply with a polite nod to him, the boy crossing further inside to head to a desk. Once there, he took a seat, setting his belongings down on the desk in front of him and taking out a quill and parchment before returning his bag to his feet as he awaited the class to begin. |
Minerva walked into the classroom where she heard a tea pot screaming. Minerva smiled "Hellp Professor, how are you today? May I help you with your tea pot?" |
So. This was it. Their last meeting with the Centaur... right? It wasn't like he was a permanent teacher in Hogwarts, no? That was what she thought, anyway. "Good day mister Thereos." She smiled at the half man and walked on to sit on one of the front desks. She might not be the brightest in Divination but she, sure, was to pay attention this time. |
Zhenya walked into class and sat down. |
Kurumi had tried to convince Jonathan that he should attend Divination as it would help him with his OWLs, but there was no making him budge. Part of it was the boy's stubborn side, but mostly it was due to his boggart being the very being teaching the class. Kurumi could hardly expect him to push that aside all for the sake of learning Walking in, Kurumi took her usual seat in the front and made sure that the one next to her was open for Selina, and turned her attention towards Thereos. "Good day, Professor Thereos," she smiled while she set her book on the table. She glanced up at the teapot that was making an awful lot of noise. Seemed like today's lesson would have to do with Tasseomancy...perhaps. "Sir, I believe your water is ready." It would be bad it it boiled over after all. |
After the last lesson, Beatrice had the feeling that she did not want to attend Divination again. But she knew it was highly necessary. So she walked into the Divination classroom, almost dragging her legs. She kept her head down as she went inside, "Good day Thereos." Then she walked over to her usual seat and busied herself with her egg in Charms. |

As Alyssa waited for class to start, she couldn't help but notice that the Professor's tea pot was boiling. How could she not notice. It's whistle was loud enough to wake the dead. She didn't know whether to offer any help or even let him know that it was boiling because she didn't want to say or do anything wrong that would offend him. So she just sat at her desk and kept silent but at the same time hoped that someone else would go and tell him or help him out. |
Ira entered the Divination classroom, wishing for a cancelled lecture or something. Today, she really wasn't in the mood to study Divination, well, its another thing, that she probably never is in the mood to study! Entering the classroom, the first thing she noticed was the loud whistling of the tea pot. She looked at Thereos and back again at the tea pot. So maybe they were gonna read future through boiling water. Merlins! "Good day, Professor Thereos." she smiled to Thereos. |
Ashley wasn't too sure how he was doing with Divination, since he never really got all the parts of it. When they had to draw things or make things, he was fine, but actually finding out anything... he really wasn't too good at that. Still, he came to class, ready to work on whatever was going to happen today. "Hello," he said to Thereos as he walked by, though he became slightly distracted by the teapot, and didn't finish his greeting, getting caught up in wondering about it. Thankfully, he wasn't too distracted to find a seat, which he did quickly, settling in and letting other things take over his mind until class started. |
'Hello Proffeser'Luna half smilied Divination well she couldn't have been less bothered with it but... |

Hearing another girl's with a red crested badge on her chest Thereos decide to ignore her for now. It was obvious that the tea was nice, hot and ready. Clearing his throat he adressed the class "Now then in what type of divination could a tea pot be essential?" |
"Yes professor I will help when you need it." Minerva smiled answering him and then found her seat. She put up her hand for his first question to the class. "It is the reading of tea leaves. Once the tea has been drank the bottom of the cup will be tea leaves." |
"There is Tasseomancy, sir," Kurumi said with her hand raised. She wouldn't mind having a nice hot cup of tea right about now. If nothing else it would certainly help her relax. Although, she didn't exactly like how cold the centaur had suddenly become with her. Seemed to be a trend recently with some classes. Oh well... |
Quote:

Ira had read somewhere that tea leaves too could be used for predictions, though now she didn't exactly remember what that science was called... She had seen a muggle psychic perform this art near her house once. Still, she raised her hand up and answered, "A tea pot will be essential for reading of tea leaves, right Sir? I mean, we can predict future based on the pattern formed by tea leaves at the bottom of the cup." |
Jordan raised his hand, "We could use the teapot in the preparation of reading tea leaves?" he said. He'd seen muggles attempt this, it never quite worked for them! Oh well.. Hopefully that was a correct answer of sorts. |
Alyssa raised her hand. "Professor a tea pot would be brewing tea, so could we be using the tea leaves later after the tea is drunk to do a divination reading?". |
Quote:
|
"Perhaps reading tea leaves, sir," Chris thought that sounded stupid. Sure you needed a tea pot to pour tea, but something sounded off when he said it... |
Well, ...duh. Tea leaf reading was one of the easiest and most commonly known types of Divination, wasn't it? Maybe. Maybe not. Who really cared. Sierra raised her hand into the air. "Maybe in reading tea leaves?" she suggested. "I think it's called...Tasseomancy." She eyed Thereos, thinking how it was still the strangest thing in the world to have a centaur that looked almost exactly like her father. She'd be glad when Tate hired a new Divination professor. Not because Thereos wasn't a good professor, no. It was just a little unsettling to look at the mirror image of her father with longer hair and a horse's body. |
"Tasseomancy, sir," Tori answered like her other classmates. "You need a tea pot to make tea to read the tea leaves!" Oooh she'd always wanted to try this. |
Zhenya raised her hand and replied "Tea is essential when you want to do tea leaf reading," she said. |

As the first question shot up, she raised her hand. "That type of Divination would be the reading of tea leaves." So that was why there was a noisy teapot. "Otherwise known as Tasseomancy." That pretty much was it. |

"Tasseography." Victoria reply simply, and continued to look outside the window. Come on, start the class already and start reading tea leaves! |
Text Cut: Students Thereos clapped his hands and gave them all a small slightly forced smile. Smiling wasn’t his thing but if it pleased the student’s he would. "The correct term is Tessomancy or tea leaf reading, 2 points to each of you. We are today going to test the art of divining with the use of tea leaves." Quote:
Quote:
"When the girl’s have distributed you a tea mug drink up the tea, but don’t throw out the leaves in the bottom we need them for our divination. Get to work and don’t burn your tongues!" Thereos said as he waited for the class to be ready to read the leaves in their cups. |
Quote:
As she did, she walked past Hufflepuff and smiled. "I'll get the tea cups then." After all, she had been the one to ask specifically about the tea in the beginning. Kurumi smiled and summoned a large tray to fill with white tea cups - that was the best color for this sort of thing, right? Balancing the tray on one of her arms, Kurumi walked around and placed a tea cup for each student on their desk. |

Jordan was slightly cold, so he took the mug of tea gratefully. He blew on it, waiting for it to cool down. He looked about, the class wasn't too popular like he'd expected, but he was enjoying himself... Kinda. He gulped down his tea, burning his mouth accidently, he had left the tea leaves at the bottom however, that was good. He fanned at his mouth in an attempt to cool it down... Stupid Jordan! |
The Professor and Kurumi: SPOILER!!: Minerva got up and smiled at the professor eager to help. "Ok Kurumi that sounds great I'll get the tea pot." She followed Kurumi and poured the tea after Kurumi gave all the students cups. When they were all passed out she put the pot back and sat down with her own tea and began to drink it. |

Once all the cups had been passed out and her own tea cup filled, Kurumi returned to her seat and softly blew on her own tea. Did centaurs just like their tea to be scalding hot? Kurumi liked hot tea, but the weather outside was already warm and the combination was a bit much. When it had cooled down to a drinkable temperature, Kurumi began softly sipping on it. Not bad...but she would have preferred green tea. |
Tori waited til she had a cup of tea and blinked at it for a bit, wondering where the tea bag was....? Since she was totes a Beverly Hills girl, and since she didn't even like tea in the first place, Tori wasn't really sure how this worked.... but whatever. She sipped at the bitter drink slowly, blowing on it in between sips. Ewww. Where was the sugar? Kurumi SUCKED as a House Elf. She should've been following along behind the Puffer and handing out sugar cubes. |
Kennedy stared down at the hot tea. He wasn't much of a tea person. The only time he drank tea was when he was sick, but other than that it was fruit juices like orange juice, apple juice, and so on. Gah, the tea didn't even smell nice, to his nose anyway. He lifted the cup to his lips and blew on it and too a small sip. Ugh, this was like drinking medicine. He did NOT like medicine. With effort, and a lot of it, he drank every drop of tea in the cup until he could clearly see the tea leaves. |
Kourtney accepted a tea cup from Kurumi, giving the older girl a quick smile. Tea...it wasn't her favorite beverage to drink, but... She waited a few moments for the tea to cool a bit, for she didn't want to burn her lips or tongue on the hot liquid. When the time came, she sipped at the tea for a moment, making a slight face. Ugh. After a few minutes, she set the cup down. Well, that was an adventure in itself. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to do it again. |
Ira smiled at Kurumi as she came to her desk to distribute the tea mugs. Ira accepted the mug... Tea wasn't her favorite thing but it would do to get her out of sleepiness in Divination class. The tea was steaming hot and smelled good. She slowly blew air over it for it to become a little cool and slowly she sipped it. It was refreshing! When she was done she peered at the bottom of the cup to see that the tea leaves were there. She put her mug down on her table and waited for the next instructions. |
Tea! Yeyyy..She loved tea. And they would be drinking some right now. Divination is becoming more and more her cup of tea. Heh. If someone would just get what she thought then that would be great because she did not understand it.. Teheeehee. "Thank you Kurumi.." Beatrice told the Prefect lioness as she received a cup from her. Not a while later, Minerva poured the tea on her cup. "Thanks." She also said to the Hufflepuff. The tea sure was aromatic. Its mere smell was very refreshing and unnerving that all she wanted was to just lie down and absorb all the smell from the tea but she knew she couldn't. Thereos would probably kick her out of the Classroom and considering those legs..it won't be overwhelming. Now, back to the lesson. With a light blow on her tea to avoid burning her tongue when she drinks it, Beatrice slowly took a sip from her cup. It was very soothing indeed. Just a small sip made her body organs relax. And that made her want to drink more, and drink she did until the cup's content was gone and the only thing that's left were the tea leaves. Now, they wait. |
Louisa smiled at the Prefect handing her the cup and cupped it with both hands. It was hot. A lot. She blew on it gently a couple of times before sipping one sip. It wasn't tongue-burning, so the girl started sipping more and more, looking down at the cup as the tea leaves were showed gradually from under the tea. A minute or two later, her tea was gone and the leaves lied at the bottom of the cup. Now what? |
Thereos watched as his student's drank up their tea some more enthusiastically then others. Oh, hrmm maybe tea wasn't for everyone it wasn't anything peculiar about that. They all needed to drink up the tea so that they could move on with fun part. Satified when everyone had downed their portion he said "Now I want all of you to place your cup in your left hand and splash around the tea leaves in your cups 3 times. Then i want you to turn your cups upside down on a saucer which you can get up front." "When you've done so I want you to let the water flow off the tea leaves before you change saucer with a partner of your choice. The number's should be even if not i don't mind if you work in pairs." He let the student's process the information before lecturing on. "When you do the reading of your partners leaves you are supposed to look for symbols/shapes in the tea leaves. Some common symbols are acorn, club cross, falcon, the grim, skull and sun and they all mean different things for the future." Quote:

*needs a partner* Text Cut: Thereos Knowing she needed a saucer from the front of the room, Sierra pushed herself out of her chair and made way to the front. After retrieving a saucer and heading back to her desk, she moved her cup from her left hand to her right. *splash, splash, splash* She splashed the tea leaves around exactly three times then turned the cup upside down on the saucer. She watched as the water flowed off the tea leaves. Now, she needed a partner. Hmm... She peered around the room looking for the least annoying person she could find. That knocked Hollingberry out... Now, who else might be free? |
*snags Bonana* heeeeeeeeehehehee. SPOILER!!: Centaur Quote:
Who could that be....? Oh, Greengoblin, sitting over there all alone. Perfect. Heh. Tori could predict death for her on the Quidditch pitch next weekend! Awesome. "Sierra," she whisper!hissed. "SIERRA. Be my partner. Here." Without waiting for a response, she shoved her saucer and teacup over to the girl and picked up her cup and saucer in return. Mwaha. |

He began to look around. He didn't want to speak and distract others, but he really needed a partner. Who else looks like they need someone...? |

She flipped the cup over, watching as the little bit of tea dripped onto the saucer below. Now where was....Oh. It looked as though she had a partner already. Her gaze continued about until she noticed an older boy that didn't have a partner yet. Well...it was always good to know the older students. "Hey." She leaned over, addressing him. "Wanna be partners?" |
Kennedy needs a partner :P After standing up to get a saucer he sat back down. Kennedy placed the cup in his left hand and around the leaves three times. Hmm, why did it matter what hand they used to splash the leaves around? Eh, maybe it was some sort of ritual. Coming back to the present, Kennedy turned his cup upside down on the saucer and then looked up. Why did he need a partner? He wasn't good with that. What if they saw something weird on his tea leaves and thought he was strange or something? Oh, well. He looked around and said, "Anyone need a partner?" Because he, sadly, did. |
Gotcha! For Bubbles. :) Louisa got up from her seat, leaving her finished tea cup on the table, and grabbed a saucer from the front. Back again, she started splashing her tea leaves inside; One SPLASH, two SPLASH, three SPLASH. Cool. Now the Ravenclaw turned her cup over and waited for a brief moment before removing the cup. With a rather satisfied smile, she looked up. All she needed now was a partner. Her eyes searched the classroom for any small groups or solo students. Raising her hand, Louisa answered the snake boy, "Over here!" Yep, he wasn't a smart Ravvie but he'd do. No offense. |
Quote:
Minerva giggled at Alyssa. Then she looked at Alyssa's tea leaves. "Hmmm I am seeing a well." She looked into the tea leaves as closely as possible. |
Quote:
No one? He was about to turn his head back to his cup when he saw a girl's hand go up in the air. A partner!... She was talking to him right? Whatever, he wasn't going to lose this opportunity to get a partner. Kennedy stood up with his cup and walked over to where the girl sat. Losers weepers, winners keepers.:P "Hi," he said, sitting down. "I'm Kennedy," he grinned shyly and extended his hand to her. Yeah, he finally remembered to introduce himself first. |
Quote:
HMMM. "Oh!" She hadn't let go of his hand yet but her eyes brightened in surprise, "You're Aurora's boyfriend?" Yep, she knew about them. A lot. Aurora was her friend, you know. SO. "I'm Louisa Carter." The famous, the magnificent, the Ravenclaw. Looking down at her hand still shaking his, she chuckled and let go, "Sorry.. forgot about that.." She was just so surprised, that was all. ANYWAY. Louisa moved her saucer over to him and waited for him to do the same. It was SO cool that she was going to read Aurora's boyfriend's saucer. Actually it was kind of weird when she said it like that. O.o Never mind. It was the lesson. |

Alyssa looked deeply into Harvey's cup. All she saw was leaves scattered around the place....like tea leaves usually look like in a cup But as she looked more deeply she started seeing shapes. Either that or her eyes were playing tricks with her, either that or she was experiencing that thing they call matrixing where you see things you want to see. So Alyssa decided to sit back, close her eyes and clear her thoughts. She then opened her eyes and looked back down into the cup again. |
:claw: Harvey looked into Minnie's cup. He was confused. How can you see shapes in this mess of tea leaves? he thought as he looked at the tea leaves. So he took a deep breath and tried to focus his mind. He then looked back into the cup and he was started to see something, but he could not make out what it was. So he decided to keep looking at the tea leaves to see if he could see something. He closed his eyes and tried to concentrate harder, he looked into Minnie's cup and was definitely seeing A shape, but what was it? :claw: |
Selina had been eerily quiet the entire lesson. Divination was by far her favorite class or it was before the horsey took the reigns. Thereos had made Selina feel like an idiot on more than one occasion and she was pretty sure that she knew more about the future than the horsey did. After all she was the one who could see the future, but she was not one to go and publicize that often. In fact, she had only just gotten around to telling Gideon and even that had been hard. It had been really hard for her. So she was not going around and tell Thereos he was a butt head because she saw the future. Not worth the aggravation. When she told them all it was time for partners she looked around the room for Kurumi. She smiled at the Gryffindor who wanted to be partners with her and said, "Hey... do you mind if I take her off of your hands? We tend to do this thing together..." |
Quote:
She peered into the cup, staring at the tea leaves. For a moment, she saw nothing but soggy leaves sitting at the bottom of the cup. Turning the cup, she tilted her head to one side. "Hmm." She muttered to herself. Were they really supposed to see something? Because she was having a bit of difficulty. She stared at the leaves for several minutes, turning it this way and that way. Wait...was that something? She squinted her eyes and leaned a little closer. That looked like...well, like a pile of bricks. Kourt flipped through the book until she reached the symbols page. Bricks...bricks..."signify new plans and enterprises which will lead to prosperity. " She read aloud. "Well...that's good." She commented, looking back up. |
Anyone needs a partner? Ira put the cup in her left hand as instructed and splashed the tea leaves around three times. Why was the left hand necessary? Ira thought... After that was done, she got up and went top the front to get a saucer. Then Ira looked around for partners to work this thing out. She always hated tasks which involved team work as such. But now she had to! Fine! So be it... Till she could find a partner, she inverted her tea cup and let the water flow off the tea leaves. Now she surely needed a partner! |
Minerva looked into the mug. She could see shapes, but what were they. She looked at the other two to see if they were having better luck. |
Quote:
She turned the cup upside down and waited for its contents to do whatever it was that it was going to do. Quote:
Quote:
Kurumi scooted her chair a little closer to Selina's and pushed her tray towards her where the remaining water seeped out from under it. "You...um...ready to tell me all about how I am going to suffer but be happy about it?" |
Quote:
Then she hovered her hand over her left shoulder where the faded blue DS was on her shoulder. Of course if they wanted a real reading Selina could always just touch that, but she chose not to plunge into the abbiss when she could avoid it. So she took her finger tips away from her shoulder and sighed. Her eyes focused on Kurumi and she smiled it off, "Right... so you wanna start?" |
Quote:
"Oh..." Kurumi sort of giggled as she flipped her cup over and handed it to Selina and waited for the red head to give her her cup. |
Catching up SPOILER!!: Jordan, Selina and Kurumi So they would be reading tea leaves for this class, or tessomancy as the professor called it. Certainly a different approach from the two lessons on versions of scrying that they had been taught and attempted for homework earlier in the year. But should be interesting to try he guessed so as the centaur instructed Kurumi and an unknown Hufflepuff to pass out cups and tea to each and ever one of them. "Thank you," he said with a smile and a nod to both students as he accepted first one and then the other. Gideon took a careful sip of the tea, making a slight face wishing it wasn't quite so hot. He blew on it and let it cool just a bit before taking another sip and then drinking as he listened to the professor explain what they were to do. It took a little while but he was soon done with the tea in his cup with only the leaves in the bottom. Now to find someone to pair up with. Looking around for a partner, Gideon noticed as people were already starting to be paired off. He caught sight of Kurumi and Selina together and a younger Gryffindor boy who seemed to have lost out on his choice so he decided to be helpful to his fellow lion. "Hey," he said as he walked over to him, briefly changing glances with the girls to let them know he would see that the younger boy was taken care of. Sure they could have done it as a trio with Jordan and he himself could find another partner, but since Selina's revelation to him, he could understand the two best friends wanting to do the assignment together and alone and here was a perfect solution to the issue. "I"m Gideon. Would ye care to be my partner?" |
Quote:
It was a process. She hated who she was when it came to this, but she was starting to see that maybe it couldn't be all bad. The world was like a machine. Everything worked in a specific way... and she could not just be an extraneous piece of machinery. She had to have a purpose. She turned back to the cup and looked at the small shape in the corner. That was not good... that was not good at all, "Kurumi... I see a bat. Th-that's not good. Kurumi, that's not good at all." |
Quote:
He settled into a comfy position and let his mind rest and relax. In previous Divination lessons, he had found this to be a good technique to help him make sense of symbols. After several long moments, he opened his eyes and stared into what was left of his partner's tea. He began to methodically rotate the cup clockwise. In his peripheral vision, he was vaguely aware of his partner gazing into his own cup. Quote:
Returning his attention back to the cup he was supposed to be examining, he again began to rotate it in his hands. A whole minute passed before the leaves resolved into the shape of a flower. "It looks like a poppy," he murmured softly. Pulling his textbook towards him, he rifled through the pages until he found a list of flower symbols. Under poppy, he saw "This flower is significant of a pleasant occurrence in the early summer." Lovely. Good news back for her! He tapped her on the shoulder to silently get her attention. He showed her the cup and traced out the border of the poppy. "It means something pleasant will happen at the beginning of summer holidays." He nodded his approval and satisfaction. |
Minerva looked closer was that a horse shoe? She looked at it closer. Then looked at her book. "Alyssa I think this is a horse shoe." She looked at her book again. Was there another horse shoe. She looked very closely, yes there were two horse shoes. "Alyssa it shows to horse shoes which mean a lucky journey. The Minerva notices another shape. "There is a tree as well." She looked in her book again. "It says in the book that a tree means happiness and fortune will be found there." She smiled at Alyssa. "That sounds pretty good." |
Quote:
"A bat?!" Kurumi chirped, clapping her hands together. "Those are so adorable! You know, they are the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight because of their webbed wings? Terribly misunderstood creatures because of that whole vampire thing." How perfect was this? She wasn't getting some wonky cross or a fork in her tea leaf readings, but a creature! Wait...did Selina just say that it was bad? Coming down from her natural high, Kurumi's body relaxed in her seat and she looked away from the bat to Selina. "W-What do you mean bad?" |
Quote:
She covered Kurumi's hand with her own and said, "Darling... its not what you think. It's not a good thing at all. It means misfortune, illness in the family. Family upset. Sometimes death..." She hated this so much. |

How did she know? Kennedy's face quickly grew red. He wasn't used to people identifying him by Aurora's boyfriend, not that he minded, but it was the first time that it occurred. His instinct was to retreat his hand, but that would be rude and he wasn't rude. "N-Nice to m-meet you Louisa Carter." Oh geez, now she got him all nervous. Kennedy rubbed the back of his neck...she could let go of his hand now... and she did. He pushed the saucer toward her while he pulled her's to him. Then a thought crossed his mind. If Louisa identified him this quickly that meant she was good friends with Aurora. What if she found something weird in his tea leaves and told her? Nah, maybe this tea leaf thing wasn't accurate. "Y-You want to go first?" he asked. Yeah, getting it over with was better, but if she wanted him to go first then he'd go with it too. |

Alyssa went back to studying the leaves in Harvey's cup. She was right. She was starting to see certain shapes. She first saw something that looked like an acorn lying at the top of the cup. She noted it down in her book. Then she saw something that looked like a diamond...no, a kite. She noted down what they were and then checked her Divination textbook to see what the shapes she noted down, represented. "Harvey I think I see an acorn and a kite. According to my textbook, it says that this symbol represents happiness and contentment. The fact that it lies at the top part of the cup means that you will enjoy financial success. Hey! you're going to be rich, if you aren't one now, Harvey."Alyssa smiled at Harvey. "Okay, let's see what the kite means. Hmmm...it means that your wish will be granted. Is there something you're wishing for right now? Because if yes, and if I'm accurate in seeing what I'm seeing in this formation of tea leaves, your wish will be coming true soon. So far, so good, Harvey." Alyssa showed Harvey pointing out the tea leaf formations she saw. "Okay I'm going to see whether I can see more shapes in the tea leaves. This is really fun stuff,"Alyssa told Minerva and Harvey, as she peered back into Harvey's cup. |

She studied the cup in her hands a little while longer, looking for something else. Not long after, she felt a tap on her shoulder, and she looked back, watching as Keefer traced a shape of a poppy in the cup. Oh! "I do like the sound of that." She whispered to him. Now she had something to look forward to! With another smile, she turned back to the cup and stared into it for a while. Her knee jiggled a bit and she realized that she was getting impatient. This branch of magic was an imprecise one, and she could understand why she would be impatient. Taking a few breaths to try to relax herself, the young girl turned the cup again slightly, and her breath caught. Ooo, what did that mean? It looked like a dagger...was that something negative? She flipped through her book before stopping. Oh. "Hmm, looks like you'll be getting some favors from some friends." She pointed out. |

She squinted this way and that way until she thought she saw another formation of leaves that looked like a cricket bat and something that looked like a cross in a shape of the alphabet 'X'. She quickly noted them both down in her journal and immediately consulted her textbook to see what those symbols meant. Her breath caught in her lungs when she read what it could possibly mean. She wondered whether she should tell Harvey what she saw because the bat meant that there was possible situation approaching that required to him to be cautious and alert. The fact that there was an 'X' just next to it meant that this was a serious warning. Alyssa nudged Minerva and showed her what she had seen. |
:claw: Text Cut: Alyssa and Minnie Harvey knew Minnie was joking when she poked at him, he loved seeing her laugh again. He was having so much fun watching the girls read the tea leaves that he had completely forgotten that he was to do Minnie's so he quickly fumbled around with her cup and tried to see any shapes in the tea leaves. "Mins, there is a shape like a candle in here which means..." he searched the textbook "that there will be light upon an uncertain path or it could also mean help from friends. I wonder why you might need help from your friends." he said without thinking and looked back into the cup to see if he could see any other shapes. He then saw some drops shapes "Hey there are drops here..." looking into his book "So that means..... tears or sadness" he said looking at Minnie, that was correct, she was going through tears and sadness right now. But maybe that is where she would need the help from her friends, it was making sense to him now. She is sad at the moment and needs all the help she can get from her friends. He then looked back into the cup to see if he could see the outcome of this. He wanted a happy ending "There is also an axe shape meaning...." he looked at his book and became wide-eyed and looked at Minnie "That you have the power to overcome difficulties... so with the help of friends you have the power to overcome difficulties... " he was shocked this sounded like Minnie to the T, it was amazing that this said everything about Minnie. Her strenghth, her friends, her sadness and he was hoping to see her happiness. He looked back into the cup... "Oh! here is a butterfly looking shape, which means...." he looked into the textbook and beamed, he looked at Minnie "Overdue happiness. So even though it is tears and sadness right now, with your power and the help from your friends you are due some long overdue happiness." he was so happy for her. She would have the chance of being happy again. He could not believe how much this sounded like Minnie. Her strength, her friends, her sadness but in the end her long overdue happiness. He was happy. He turned to Alyssa "You are right Alyssa this is so much fun!" he said as he glanced into Minnie's cup again before looking at Minnie. He was glad that there is some happiness coming her way.. he hoped. He wrote down what he had seen, and what he thought it meant, he hoped he had read correctly. He seriously wanted Minnie to be the happy, cheerful girl again that he had come to know and love. He was still looking in Minnie's cup, but he still noticed the look Alyssa got looking into his cup and then nudging Minnie to show her. He wanted to ask, but did he really want to know of bad tidings in his future. After having had so much happiness, was there sadness coming his way? :claw: |

Daichi was a little startled when the professor announced they had to work together and he looked around as the students found partners. He sighed, he should really stop thinking about the up coming final match. Waaah, shortly the championship game was on and Daichi couldn't wait for Slytherin's victory again! But he was in Divination now and not in a quidditch match and he let out another deep sigh. Looking around, Daichi stood up from his chair and to attract the students who didn't have any partners yet he flailed his arms up and down. "Anyone want to be my partneeeeer~?!" |
Text Cut: Minnie Minnie's reaction to his cup did not go unnoticed by Harvey, with both the girls reacting that way he knew that it was something that was not good... not good at all!! He would ask them later for now Minnie was asking him to read some mushy leaves that she couldnt make out. Well ALL the leaves were mushy but this was extra mushy and had less shape than the others. So he leaned over and looked into Alyssa's cup. He saw what Minnie was talking about, this was a tough one to read. He consulted his book, and then looked back at the cup. He did this a few times while flipping his pages back and forth to see if he could match it with anything. He then turned to Alyssa "Well from what I can see it can be one of 3 symbols, and they all signify flirting, love or romance. Either it could be.." he looked at his book "a daisy.... in which case it means new love. Or it could be a..." he said looking at his book and the cup once more "fan... which means.... a flirtation??" Harvey smiled at this and looked at her, wow Alyssa and flirting? he had never thought of that before, he had hung out with her but it never really crossed his mind that maybe someone would flirt with or romance Alyssa. If there was someone he was happy for her, he wanted her to find that someone special that he had found. He wondered if there was someone that Alyssa herself liked. Anyways back to the mushy tea leaves. "Um.. or it could be a rose in which case it means..." he consulted his book again "a new romance or deepening of love. Well you are not in love so that cant be deepened, but maybe there is a new romance ahead for you. So basically there is romance and love somewhere in you life." he smiled at her. Lets hope it is soon, he added in his head. He wanted her to feel special and that would happen with that special someone. He knew recently that she had felt unimportant, and a bit left out. Harvey was hoping that there was someone in the near future that could fulfill both of these feelings in 1 go. She would feel special and important as she would be both with this one special person. |

Nodding her head at Kennedy, Louisa pulled his saucer and started flipping through her book absently, her eyes staring at the vague shapes before them. "Err… " She had no idea what the heck she was staring at. The Ravenclaw stopped flipping through the pages and let the book sit on her lap as she brought her face down and VERY close to the saucer, "I'd say… this.. little triangle.." Which was nothing like a triangle except for its three points, ".. with the trail behind.. represents a kite!" Lifting her face to look at Kennedy sitting opposite of her. "And a kite means.." Turning her head back down toward the book that started to get flipped again, ".. that.." Uh oh. Louisa hesitated, frowned at the words and talked slowly, "Vanishing pleasures and benefits, or scandal." She lifted her gaze to meet the boy, his face should show if he indeed had a scandal coming his way or not. Was he up to something not good? Hmm. The fourth year student stared down at the saucer again, "And there is.. this… ball with two small circles inside and.. a straight horizontal line downward." Hmm. That'd be… "A skull probably!" Enthusiastic about her discovery, Louisa turned back to the book and flipped more pages, "It means.. danger in your path." Gulp. Was this a death eater or something? Louisa's eyesbrows were raised as she looked up at him. "I mean it could be. It really depends on the way the reader sees the shapes." An uncertain smile stretched on her lips. "Ahem. Would you like me to reinterpret them or do you want to give it a go? My saucer, I mean." She was pretty curious about her tea leaves now. |
SPOILER!!: Selina and Kurumi Slightly taken aback, Jordan was unsure of what to say. He decided not to push it, "Oh yeah... Sure... Okay... Thats fine!" he stuttered out, "I'll just go," he sidled off. SPOILER!!: Gideon Jordan turned away from Kurumi and Selina, "Hi, I'm Jordan Macey!" he grinned holding out a hand. "Yeah I'll be your partner, thank you!" he smiled, thankful for being saved there his eyes flashed gratefully. He picked up his saucer and allowed the older boy to lead him off to another part of the class.. |

She liked what she saw this time and showed them to Harvey. "Hey Harvey, I see a forked line which according to my book means, that soon there's a decision you'll have to make. The straight lines means there's a journey you have to make but it will be a straight one. I guess that means an easy one. So maybe the decision is whether to make that journey now or later." |

"Nice to meet ye Jordan," he said with a nod, accepting the offered hand and giving it a polite shake. "And yer welcome," he added with a smile leading his partner back over to his own belongings and table so they could get to work. As he sat down, Gideon motioned to Jordan to take the other seat. Taking the saucer he had picked up in his travels, he overended his tea cup over onto it for the leaves to come out, placing both within reach on the desk. "Would you like to go first in interpretations or getting your leaves read?" the fourth year questioned giving Jordan the option of order. Gideon himself didn't have any preference on how they did things but they should take turns. |

First or second? Hmm, Jordan had no idea what he was doing so it might be best if he copied what the fourth year did. "Erm, well would you mind if you read mine first, then I would have an idea of what to do when it's my turn?" he asked, "If that's alright with you of course!" he added. |

He stared back at the cup. Beside him, he sensed Kourtney becoming restless. This was only natural for a first year waiting for something to appear. He still had the problem himself, but had learned techniques to combat it, especially in this class. His attention was caught by flipping pages beside him. Had she found something else? Sure enough, she thought some friends may do him a favor. "Hmm. Another good symbol. Nice," he whispered. After awhile, the lump of leaves materialized into a distinguishable pattern. It appeared to be a gate. Well, that was sure to mean something, but good or ill he didn't know. Reaching for his book, he turned back several pages and found an entry for a gate. An excellent opportunity awaits you, perhaps the chance of a lifetime; massive high gates denote restriction, misery, or imprisonment. He got Kourtney's attention with a soft cough. Pointing to the cup, he said, "It looks like a gate. Here's what the book says." He heaved his book over to her and pointed out the appropriate entry. Once she had plenty of time to read it, he asked, "Do you think it looks like massive high gates or not? I can't tell." |

She pushed the book away and toward Kurumi, "Merlin... well I'm out of ideas..." she really hoped that she was wrong in her reading, but she had a feeling she wasn't. Call it intution, Selina never did. |

Kennedy nodded when Louisa identified the first shape which was a kite, and then she stayed quiet. He stretched his neck to try and have a peek at the text book she was reading. Of course he had his, but it was close and she seemed to know what she was doing. He cocked his head to the side. Vanishing pleasures and benefits... and scandal? What was that supposed to mean? Ken shrugged and gave her a confused look, and then turned his attention to the next shape. A SKULL? Holly cricket, was he going to die? Maybe, not, but Louisa said it meant danger. He pulled the cup to him and nodded. It was a skull. That would only mean his.... Kennedy was going to have to write a letter right after this class. Kennedy shook his head and looked up. "It's all right like that," he said, then peered inside Louisa's cup. He began by taking all of the little leaves in consideration until several shapes began to resurface. "Here," he said, pointing at the shape, "this looks like a hammer. Which means..." He opened the text book provided to them and looked at the index and looked for the specific page. "Triumph over adversity or...troublesome little tasks which you are reluctant to undertake," he read. He looked up at her, making sure she heard him. He looked into the cup again and took a while longer to identify the next figure. "Here, there's another one, a fish," he said and once again searched for the specific page on the text book. "It means good news from abroad." That was good right? Why didn't he get a fish instead. |
