The point of this, however, was not to avoid the candy. Eventually, Ashley was going to have to do more than that. Once he was steady again, he took a couple of practice swings with his bat, gently at first. The fact that he didn't go twirling off from the effort didn't really give him much confidence. He wasn't hitting anything, and that could make all the difference. Those things were pretty big, after all. What if it was hitting them that provided enough force to knock him about? Of course, everyone else seemed to be managing just fine, he had to recognize. So he took off again, looking around for a slower-moving gumdrop to try this out on. As soon as he found one, he turned and headed directly for it, taking a deep breath as he swung for it, actually closing his eyes as the bat made contact.
He didn't go spinning, as he'd expected. But he did stop. For a moment, after he opened his eyes and checked above his head for sky, he wondered how that had even happened, before realizing that he'd actually stopped the broom himself, and it wasn't because of the hitting.
So he hadn't spun. And he had only really stopped because of his own actions. Another, much smaller smile settled on his face as he flew off again, totally ready to knock some candy around.

The gravity pulls her downwards, but she doesn't care. She is too busy looking for another gumdrop. She flies around the stadium, with eyes as sharp as a nocturnal animal. It is then where she flies past one, so she makes a U-turn with the bat ready in her hand.

SMACK!!

The bat hits the gumdrop and it smacks into a tree. If this is muggle baseball, it could've been a homerun!

Suddenly something hit Raven from her backward.

"OUCH!!!!" Fortunately she still could control her broom.

a PINK!! gumdrop???

Raven really hate PINK color. She collected her energy and hatred with PINK color and hit it.


TWACK!!!!!!

The gumdrop flew away from her

What Ashley wondered about now was how far he could hit one of those things. He'd probably need to use both hands to get enough force going to get any kind of real distance, though. That kind of thing would require holding on with no hands, and he definitely wasn't going to be trying that right now. If only he had more arms... that would be helpful too. In fact, he could have two extra ones to hold onto the broom, so he didn't have to worry about the whole one-handed deal.
As he was daydreaming about having way more limbs than a person should, Ashley had missed a gumdrop coming straight for him, and so he was hit with the giant candy, which he glared at, because that was just rude. Somehow, it hadn't knocked him over, though it had pushed him aside, and so he turned as quickly as he dared, to smack the candy with his broom, just to see if he could. It was easier than he'd thought it'd be, but then again, it wasn't as though the candy was trying to avoid being hit. Now it was flying away from him, but he wasn't done with his vengeance, and took off after it, swinging the bat as soon as he was close enough to hit it. And once it went flying off in another direction, he went that way too. He wasn't done with this thing.

Flying away from the trees, Aiden doesn't let her guards down in case if lost gumdrops come flying to her. At the same time, she wouldn't stop focusing on finding those gumdrops either. Suddenly, a purple one catches her attention. Aiden switches the bat to her other hand, and with her other hand, she grasps the broomstick handle firmly as she zooms towards the gumdrop.

WAACK!!

She smacks the gumdrop away like smacking a fly.

"Oh sorry Raven!" she shouted from afar. Erin didn't wanted to moved closer to her Raven, she might hit her too. Heh. Thats why she moved towards the other direction. Where were they now? Pinky gumdrops?

Flying upward, Erin felt like she was on a rollercoaster. Yikes! The feeling was weird but fulfilling. The gumdrop(it was color green) was hit by the broom Erin was riding. She removed it using her hand and just inches from her mouth, it fell. Why? Maybe, it was not really intended for her. Hehe.

Here comes a gumdrop. Ow! Now, it acts like a Bludger. She was now a beater after all. With so much force, Erin hit the yellow colored gumdrop and it flew away from her. Miles, maybe. Good job!

GUMDROPS...
GUMDROPS...

...GUMDROPS!!

This was so much better than hitting people! Seriously.

Cass kicked off the ground and flew straight up towards a pink gumdrop, swerving around other people who were bouncing off their own candies. Hehe. Then she tilted the end of her broom slightly upwards, making it pull into an instant stop in front of her the pink gumdrop.

Then, keeping a hand firmly on the handle of her broom, the blonde tightened her grip on the beater's bat in her hands and swung. Hard. Closing her eyes tightly as she felt her bat touch the pink thing.

THWACK!

Then she cracked her eyes open and found her bat gone from her hands, and the gum drop still there. Firmly in place. She looked down and indeed found her beater's bat plummeting down to the ground at an alarming speed.

"What the--?" She cried out as she sped down, trying to catch her bat...before it hit anyone on the head.

Stupid gum drop knocked her bat off her hands.

and this was why she couldn't play Quidditch

Alyssa saw the gumdrop that Harvey had hit and went after it. She leaned forward on her broom handle and sped up keeping an eye on the gumdrop. Once she got near enough, she swung her bludger and hit it back in the other direction. "Look out Harvey, it's coming back your way,"Alyssa said cheekily. "How's about a game of badminton, only we're going to use the bat to hit gumdrops at each other. Try catching one with your mouth." Alyssa suggested to Harvey. "Don't worry I won't hit too hard." she assured him.

Aiden eyes around the stadium, looking for another gumdrop. She spots one, and with flexibility of her hand, she swings the bat and hits the gumdrop. It hits a nearby window.

She didn't do that, she didn't do that. Someone else did. While she is in denial, Aiden realises that there is a bat falling down straight to her, and she catches it just in time. Next, she flies towards the elder girl who was chasing the bat earlier. "Here you go."

Stealthily Violet drew up behind her Arch Nemesis (aka the Giant Black Gumdrop), her beater's bat at the ready, her eye on the prize. With her left hand, she guided the broom forward, keeping a slow but steady pace. Finally she drew up behind the giant thing, moving a little to its side to avoid another collision. She raised her bat in a steady movement and brought it slowly but forcefully forward and--CONTACT! She had finally managed to hit the black gumdrop without falling off of her broom (well, maybe she slid to one side a bit, but that didn't count!). With great satisfaction, she watched the fat, ugly thing sail off in another direction, out of her way.

Cass halted to a stop as a girl caught her bat for her. "Thank you!" She said gratefully as the girl handed her bat back. "I'm so sorry if it hit you or anything."

Then she looked back up to where she was earlier and was relieved that the insufferable gumball that made her bat fall down was still there. Good. Revenge was required.

So, said her final thanks to the girl once more - noting absently the broken window that seemed to be at her line of fire - then sped back up to the pink gumdrop.

Then she stopped in front of it, like before, then swung hard once more, her grip tighter than the last one.

and once again...THWACK

But this time, it was the gum drop that was sent flying to the distance, well, she couldn't see it anymore since another student flew right in front of her...but for her ego's sake, it flew far away.

"Yes!" She said in triumph as she pumped her fist into the air and did a sort of victory dance on her broom.

Penny was wide-eyed when the huge gumdrops appeared.... Climbing onto her broom, she kicked hard away from the ground and felt more alive than she had done in days...

Flying higher, gripping her beaters bat, she flew towards the gumdrops and saw a massive yellow one - "Oh that looks like it might fly well...and it's yellow for Hufflepuff too", Penny thought to herself, giggling.

As she drew up to the gum drop, she swung the bat back and thumped the candy as hard as she took..

****THWACK****

The yellow gumdrop wobbled for about a nano-second and flew across the pitch narrowly missing a student flying..."Oooops I'm sorry", unsure whether the girl had even noticed the gumdrop - she was looking the other way..

The elder girl's repeating apologies makes her feel awkward. As the other girl flies away, Aiden watches as she smacks a pink gumdrop. Whew! That wasn't bad at all! She maneuvres her broom somewhere else, somewhere she could find more gumdrops. And there is one.

Flying nearer to the red gumdrop, Aiden swings the bat strongly that the nearly got thrown off her broom if her grip isn't so tight. If the broomstick is a human, he could've die of suffocation by now.

THWAACK!!!

The sound of the bat hitting the gumdrop is loud enough for Aiden to hear it herself. She watches at the red gummy "flies" further and further and finally, out of sight.

Swoosh.

India was off. Flying towards the first culprit gumdrop she pulled her arm back and let it have it. Well tried to.

GUNGK the sound made her laugh - the feeling of the gumdrop not moving and the bat absorbing the swing was not fun.

She needed to try again. Switching the bat to the other hand she pulled her arm back again and - shwoop it was off soaring through the pitch.

If she were at the world cup with her father he would have yelled "GOAL" in as most annoying voice he could muster. Because he was just like that.

Flushed with her victory over the black gumdrop, Violet looked around for more prey. Aha, there was a giant pink gumdrop--she didn't much care for pink either. Let's see if you're tougher than you look, sissy-drop, she thought to herself as she turned her broom handle to the right nearly 3/4 of the way around to face the pink drop (it would have been shorter to turn left, but she was still having trouble with that).

Advancing on the rather silly-looking giant pink gumdrop, she pulled back her batting arm again and -- THWACK!! She made contact again, on the first try this time, and she watched with elation as the giant pink gumdrop went whizzing wildly over the pitch.

Harvey felt himself being poked in the back, he turned his broom round to see who it was "ERIN!!!! How are you?!!" he asked excitedly, he missed hanging out with this friend of his, it seemed that they hardly hung out anymore. Erin mentioned something about catching up on news, and he knew what she was talking about. He was sure many of his friends still didnt know and probably heard it through someone else. It seemed Erin was one of them, either that or she had seen them together. "Sure, we have alot to catch up on! lets meet some place" he said watching out for more gumdrops. "[b]Thanks, I have seen you hitting the gumdrops, you are good as well. He watched as she zoomed off to hit some more gumdrops. Suddenly he saw a gumdrop and rushed over to it. He hit the gumdrop but it didnt go far so he followed it and swung at it again

TWWAAACCKKKK!!!!!

He hit it as hard as he could and the gumdrop went whizzing away from him.



Harvey was about to speed away and look for more gumdrops when Alyssa called back at him to tell him the gumdrop he had JUST hit was coming back at him. He turned around on his broom to see that it really WAS coming back at him. "Ok...just dont hit it too hard" it sounded dangerous catching one with your mouth but he agreed. Just then he saw that the gumdrop was near enough to be hit back

TWACK!!!

He hit it back "Alyssa its coming for you now!!!" he yelled back at her to warn her that he had hit it back and had agreed to their badminton game

She looked around the pitch. Looking for another gumdrop that she could hit. She saw a BIG yellow gumdrop came toward her.

She hold her bart with her two hands and hit it very hard. And.....

TWACK!!!!!

Yeah, she hit it!!! But the big yellow gumdrop flew away very slowly.

Maybe because it was very big?

Then she hit again and.. WHAT HAPPENED??

The big yellow gum was splited into two gums.. Both of them flew away in different way.

Violet laughed to see the pink gumdrop whizzing over the field. Suddenly, looking at all the moving brooms and whizzing gumdrops, she had an idea. This would make a great action shop for her magical moving pictures project in Potions class. Slowing down her broom and moving off to the side a bit, she stowed the beater's bat in a large outer pocket and fumbled in her other robe pocket for the school camera Professor Lafay had given her. Straightening up, she focused carefully on the moving gumdrops pursued by students on brooms and - snap! She got a perfect shot!

Suddenly a giant red gumdrop rammed her from behind--she had been so busy getting her photograph that she hadn't been paying attention to what was going on (a bad thing to do on a broom many feet in the air!) Pushed forward, she lurched over the handle of her broom and sent it plummeting toward the ground. Just in time she jerked up on it and went whizzing back up again, straight at the gumdrop! She jerked the handle to the right and went careening over toward the stands, nearly running into the Ravenclaw stand before she could manage to pull herself out of it just in time.

Slowing to a crawl, she moved carefully back toward the field, carefully steering clear of any more gumdrops. She made a note to herself to never, ever do anything but fly when flying on a broom again.

Raven flew away to hit another gum. Some smaller wanted to hit her but fortunately she still could control her broom.

She saw the black gumdrop came toward her and tried to hit it. But...

The gumdrop was very hard to hit.

Merlin's pants!!! Whya did all off gumdrop that I wanted to hit always make a problem???!!! She was mad by herself.

Then she tried to hit it repeatly.

TWACK TWACK TWACK!!!! and....

CRACK!!!!

The gumdrop was broken into pieces. Hey, maybe it was not a gumdrop. Is a hard candy!!

Dia tried again. Flying to another gumdrop she pulled back her not-that-sore arm and let it have it.

The gumdrop soared off flying to the opposite side of the pitch.

This was fun.

"I got it! I got it!," Alyssa yelled back, leaning forward on her broom handle and quickly zooming to intercept the gumdrop before it hit someone else. She flew right into it's path and was ready to open her mouth to catch it when she realized that it was a WHOLE LOT bigger than her mouth.

SPLAT!!

"Yuck!!Thank goodness this was a gumdrop. If it had been a bludger, I would have been knocked out stone cold."Alyssa thought to herself and she scrubbed up as much of the gum drop off her face before putting it in her mouth. "Yum! it still tastes good though,"she laughed to herself.

She then spotted a nice orange gumdrop flying towards her. Leaning forward on her broom, she sped towards it and lightly swung her bat, hitting it back to Harvey. "It's on it's way back to you, Harvey. Watch out here it comes!!", she called out to Harvey

"Hey there, Penny glad that you could join us. Here I'm going to send this purple gumdrop back at ya. Don't worry I won't hit it too hard. Try dodging it, Chaser", Alyssa yelled back to Penny.

Kennedy was surveying the area looking for more wild gumdrops. It appeared that everyone was whacking all over the place. At the corner of his eye he saw something heading towards him. He first dismissed it as another student, but he could feel that it was getting closer and closer...

SWOOSH!

The green gumdrop missed his hair by centimeters. That was a close one. Kennedy saw a spare yellow gumdrop and swung hit bat at it. TWACK! It hit the gumdrop, but right then another one headed his way. Dodging it at the last second, Kennedy looked at his surroundings.

Who was sending gumdrops his way, huh?!

Whatever. It was a game after all. He flew forward, but this time he was keeping a closer eyes on his classmates stray gumdrops. He didn't want to be knocked off his broom and land on his bum, after all.

Always nice to know your answer was acceptable at least. Getting back up to his feet, Gideon made his way over to the broom rack, grabbing a half-way decent broom and beater's rack and moving to line up as directed. Hopefully each would prove not to different from his own set currently up in his dorm. His mind wandering to what they would be hitting...Vindictus tending to have some pretty out-there ideas including spiders from last class but thankfully when the man revealed what he had it was somewhat of a relief.

Gumdrops...not bad

Prepping his broom and mounting it, Gideon made sure he had a secure grip on the bat before heading up into the sky. "Now for some fun," he mused almost to himself as he got higher up and closer to the giant gumdrops. The fourth year debating where to start and finally heading towards a nice green one. His arm raised as he neared, quite used to the movement playing beater in quidditch, and hit the gumdrop right on sending it off to one side.

Chris grabbed his broom and took off. He was surprised at how well he flew, since he never had before. He still flew a little slow however. He didn't want to cause any injuries, his or someone elses. He was flying around the field when he spotted a giant gumdrop hovering in front of him. He took a whack at it and it went a flying a few feet away from him.

Harvey laughed as he saw the gumdrop splat Alyssa in the face"Yeah lucky you, we wouldnt want you hurt by a bludger now would we?" he asked her, and then she ate some "Oooo me want some!!!" he yelled back laughing still. Just then Harvey saw Alyssa lean forward on her broom and go for an orange gumdrop that was moving towards her. He then saw her hit it back and he heard her yell at him to watch out. So he got ready as the gumdrop came towards him. He opened his mouth,

SPLAT!!

it hit him just the way it hit Alyssa, but he managed to take a bite out of it. "YUM!!!!!" he yelled as he tasted the gumdrop. He then smacked it back to Alyssa. "Yo Alyssa here it comes get ready!!!!!" he yelled back to her as he watched the gumdrop go towards Alyssa.
