Bobbing For Apples
 

Jai stood by the large barrels, with his hands in his pockets with an easy going expression. Yes, It was going to be a fun day. This was just the beginning. He stood waiting for the first participants who found first round according to the first clue. 'Here we go!' he thought smiling slightly to himself.

August came sliding into the Armor gallery and was pulling Tori behind him, and then the male Gryffindor Prefect came into view...standing by the apples just like the riddle said.

"Hey Jai! We are here for the first riddle!!!" he said practically jumping with excitement.

Katie breathed, and breathed, a little puffed, sitting down on the ground, but then looking to her side, barrels? Katie looked to see inside, with apples floating in water? Thats what the clue was talking about! They were bobbing for apples!

Katie remembered one of her friends had a party and this was an activity, but all Katie got was a wet face and hair, and then they had a water fight. Katie stood up and watched as others arrived and figured out the clue.

Sky came dashing into the room to see that… people had beaten her punch! "So for apples huh?! Clever…" Sky said still trying to catch her breath. She was right!

The boy raaaaaaaan!

Finally, he was where he had guessed at first. "What do we do, now?" he whispered more to himself. He noticed the large barrels with water and apples. Were they really going to bob for apples?

Great, his glasses were going to be a bit of an obstacle there.

Caroline knew where she was going, yep she sure did, She made it to the third floor she knew that when she seen all the other students who were faster than her already there. And Jai was standing by some big Barrels.

Of course he had to be at the first clue they hadn't spoken since the Owlery or she hadn't seen him since then other than around. She seen Katie and rushed over to her Smiling to her younger snake friend. "Hey Katie!" hopefully avoiding the awkwardness of having to speak to him. She wasn't sure if he'd ever forgive her or if she even deserved his forgiveness.

Jai looked up and saw the first to arrive. He moved forward slowly as they figured out the first clue. "Congratulations. You've found your first game. Now I'm going to wait until more students arrive before we get the party started." he said with a broad, welcoming smile.

He looked at August and Gideon,"Nice to have the lions here first. Good work guys." he said, inclining his head to them. Jai turned to the Ravenclaw girl and said,"Excellent."

As he waited, others began running up the stairs and joining the group. He looked around as students panted and waited with expressions of anxiety and excitement on their faces.

"We'll be beginning in just a few moments, so hang tight everybody." he said loudly, hoping that everybody could hear him.

He heard bits and pieces of the clues uttered around the area from students as they pieced together what they were going to be doing.

"Yeah, it's bobbing for apples. You got that correct." he said to a Slytherine girl.

Brilliant! She was right about the armory and the bobbing for apples thing. In the corner of her mind, she made a mental note to write to her Aunt Jennette and thank her for being so odd in her childhood. After all, the woman who practically rose her did teach her a great many things. Plus, she figured out a Hogwarts event. That was brownie points.

She walked over to the group and smiled a broad smile at everyone gathered around. "Apples? Alright. Let's see where we go from here." She wasn't really sure the point of this, but then again if Kurumi was anything behind it, it was bound to be brilliant.

Finally coming to the conclusion that she should be on the third floor and near the armor gallery, Sierra wandered up and joined a group of students who were already standing around. She peered through the crowd to see the numerous apples floating on the water. Ahhh...so this was what they'd use their teeth for, hmm?

If she lost a tooth, she was totally blaming the Gryffindors.

She eyed Tori Bunbury, who was gasping for breath like an eighty-year-old spattergroit victim. At this rate, how did the girl make it to Astronomy class alive?! She shook her head then turned her attention to the Gryffindor prefect who looked to be heading this event.

Well...*smirk / does a dance*

Stepping into the corridor...Marilyn approached the group that had already formed, lots of Slytherins present, she noticed..."Hai to you all..."

Ick, her cousin was already here...Figures.

Hearing a panting sound behind him August turned to see Princess Tori, trying to catch her breath. Seriously, she needed to learn how to run better. She could go passing out on him during this race! "Yeah Tori, we are here. China? Well..." he looked around. "Maybe we will go there next."

He wanted to make her feel like it was maybe a possibility...it wasn't likely though.

Auggie looked up at Jai and grinned when he congradulated him and Gavin on being the first to arrive and Gryffindors. Ok so they would be starting soon, he just hoped he was going to be one of the first to start cause the water could get pretty sketchy once you go after a bunch of people.

"Hey Caroline" Katie smiled looking up at her, "Have you ever bobbed for apples before?" The slytherin girl asked wondering, because Caroline would be pretty good at this if she had.

Katie listened to what the prefect had to say, seems like they would have to wait for the others, hopefully they wouldn't be long, because she was really excited to bob for apples, as hard as it was it was fun in Katie's eyes.

Raven ran out to the third floor. She arrived there, she noticed that were some barrels with apples and water

What will we do with those apples? she thought. Bobbing for Apples?

Jai looked and saw that there were enough people to begin. Rubbing his hands together, he moved a little closer, still with the smile on his face,"Ok, it's time to begin. So let me give you the low down on how it's gonna go down as we take a trip to Ireland." he remarked, looking around at them.

"So, the first activity is Bobbing for Apples. This fun little Irish game is interesting because of how you play it. So, the aim is to retrieve 5 apples, with no hands, no magic, just your pretty white chompers. And please, try not to drown, take deep breaths and not large gulps of water." he said jokingly before he continued,"Now,no need to worry about accidental kissing by drinking each others spit, because that won't happen."

Jai stepped back a bit and said,"No worries there are enough barrels for everybody. So dig in and let the games begin!"





occ: Please take note that this is not a race. Take your time and have some fun. You will have at least 24 hours to complete this game/activity, before the next clue is posted. So have fun "Bobbing for Apples.

August listened as Jai began to explain the task before them. He had bobbed for apples a few times back when he was younger at friends' birthday parties and it was a pretty fun activity but you ended up drenched by the time you were finished.

Oh and thankfully there were enough barrels filled with water and apples that he would have to worry about going after anyone else. he wouldn't mind if that someone was Tori though He didn't need any accidental kissing.

"Alright, so we can start?" he said looking eagerly at the Prefect before picking a barrel. Auggie looked over at Tori and pointed at a barrel next to his. "Let's do this Princess. Hope you don't mind your hair gettin wet." he grinned impishly before taking a huge breath and jamming his face into the cool water.

Katie grinned as she heard they could start, "Come on Caroline lets start, this is gonna be fun" She said before walking up to her own barrel.

One big breath Katie took before bowing down to try and get an apple, luckily she had decided to tie her hair up for the day, otherwise her hair would get wet, Katie tried to take a bite out of the closest apple, but it just slipped away from her, one more try and the same thing happened, then she lifted her head back up and breathed again, must. breath. She tried again but this time with a plan, she tried to push the apple up against the edge with her chin and then put most of her face in the water and tried to bite the side of the apple, pushing up against the side, nearly had it, but it jumped up from her.

Maybe this wasn't going to be as easy as she thought, well, Katie was determined, so she wasn't going to give up, "Caroline you have a go!"

Sky walked over to one of the barrels and looked down. She was so glad there was enough barrels for everyone. She hadn't been so jazzed about the possibilities that came out of everyone bobbing out of the same barrel. Shaking that thought off, Sky slipped the hair tie off her wrist and put her hair in a ponytail. She took a deep breath and dunked her head in. She used all parts of her face to search for an apple. She quickly found one, bit into it, brought it out of the barrel with her teeth. She pulled it out of her mouth with her hand put it on the floor beside the barrel. Then she dunked her head back in to search for another apple.

:whaa: What! Get Apples with our chompers! THEIR TEETH! But that's fun.

Katrina went beside a barrell and.

SPLASH! She stuck her head in. Oh Merlin, the water's cold! Brr...

THe first year tried to get some apples. She opened and closed her mouth repeatedly and got one!

She rose her head up. And held unto the apple. Katrina stuck her head back into the freezing water and got 3 apples at different turns.

One more, she thought. Her determination made her stick her head in the water again.

After the long period of head-dipping, she got used to the temperature of the water. She saw an apple, bit it... no, failed. She rose up and took deep breaths and stuck her head again.

She saw the apple and bit it. SCORE!

She rose her head! 5 APPLES! She wins, I guess. She wiped her sore face with her hanky and rested at some of the seats.

You actually found it. Sarah grinned as she reached the first task and to her surprise, What the hell was happening here? She heard the prefect's instruction. No hands? No wand? Sarah looked defeated. But would it hurt to try?

She tied her hair up and placed her wand securely in, having it, she'd be tempted to use it without her knowledge. Sarah looked at the apples in the barrel. This is gonna be something. she smiled before taking a deep breath and drowning her face into the barrel of cool water and apples.

Jez slid down the corridor to a barrel on her knees/robes. Very undignified, but she had to admit, she'd been wanting to do it for a while. Jez wasted no time with pushing her long black hair away from her face - she could live with wet hair - and just plunged her head into the water. She'd done this before with her siblings, and knew a few tricks. Within moments, she had her first apple, and was ducking in for another. Jez was giggling so much she was almost swallowing water. How fun was this?!

Miss Lovegoods had conjured a stool for herself and managed to get seated with both legs crossed under her, hands gripping the seat for support, though the grin on her face told just how much she wasn't worried about falling.

They were all soo excited!

And it was infectious. "You guys are doing great!" Even the ones who hadn't gotten any apples 'cause they were TRYING their hardest to get one. One hand moved from the chair to draw her wand and vanish any water on the ground. Then she went back to watching them with an encouraging smile.

Bob students bob!!

OOC: Hey guys! You're all doing great! Just a little note that you don't have to get all the apples in one post. This is for fun! And fun can't be had in just one post, can it? ;)

"Hey!!" greeted her. Then she took a deep breath and stuck her head in. Looking for apples. She tried to bit it. But.. Failed.

Then she tried again and she bit one. Yeah!!! an apple!!

Katie tried again to get an apple.

Bobbing for the apple, pushing it up against the edge, it was working! her teeth sunk into the apple and she lifted her head out of the water, "Yay!" Katie squealed silently, if thats possible, to herself in joy, one apple down, four more to go, hopefully it would be easy from now on, it should be, no reason why it would be, excellent!

Kennedy was ready.

Apples, here he goes.

He took his glasses off and put them inside his pocket. He didn't want them to get damaged. He hesitated before ducking in, but after a few seconds he went for. His eyes were tightly shut as his head moved around the water. When he felt it bump against something, Kennedy knew it was an apple. He went up for air and then dunked again, this time he felt his teeth connect with something round.

He's GOT ONE!

Kennedy bit down hard on it, so it wouldn't fall out of his grasp and pulled out of the water. He grabbed the apple and grinned, his curly hair now straight over his forehead almost covering his eyes.

Huff...puff...sigh.

Merlin, running as fast as she could to the third floor from the ground floor was NOT FUN. But still, she was glad that she wasn't wearing her school robes! Imagine the double hardship if ever she had been wearing robes, plus the skirt, the tie, the blouse, the heels...well, you get the picture. It certainly looked pretty, but not for running.

"Right. Bobbing for apples..." Cass said uncertainly as she eyed the probably freezing water tentatively. Then she set her lips on a grim line, tied her long hair back with a scrunchy and dived in. Sure enough, the water was COLD. O_____o

Cass instantly withdrew her head wiped the water off her face, no apple between her teeth. Then she took another deep breath, dunked in and didn't emerge for a couple of minutes, till finally, her head emerged from the water, hair matted in places and an apple in her mouth.

ONE DOWN! Four to go! Yay!

The blonde repeated the process for a few more times, not minding the people who were so lucky to have caught five apples instantly while she had to dunk in, out in and out, in and out, till she had a really red nose from the cold, slightly bloodshot eyes from trying to see in the murky waster - which was sort of a fail - and her last apple, hanging precariously from her teeth, being held buy the brown stem.

"FINALLY!" She shouted out in triumph as she set her five apples beside her as she dried herself off with magic - of course.

Ryan raced down to the place and saw everyone at tubs wit htheir heads in them.He rushed over to a a tube and plunged his face in it.It took him a few attempts to get his first and second one but he found the third one tricky to find.He plopped his head in trying to find it.

Katie couldn't help but watch Cass before she tried again, and then Katie decided to try again, alright second apple, I can do this the slytherin girl thought to herself, she bopped her head in but she couldn't even find an apple, maybe she should have checked to see where one was before bobbing, she started giggle and quickle came out of the water, and coughed once or twice, she was okay, good, she notcied that her face was really wet, so she got out her wand and dried herself, the putting her wand back so it wouldn't tempt her to use the wand to get an apple out.

Bopping back in. she knew where they were now

*bite* She got one! Katie rushed her face out with the apple out and placed it next to the first apple, she was on a roll, go Katie! So there was three to go, and then she was done, and then she would have to wait, which couldn't be so bad could it? With no waiting she got right back into it and tried to get a third apple, this one took some time though, in and out she was, because everyone needed to breath, until she succeeded, third apple woot!

The blonde slytherin wasn't giving up, she did the same progress until she had all five apples, but she seemed to get worse, probably from her jaw getting tired from biting so much, but alas, all five apples, all in a row, Katie jumped in the air pumping her fist up with a big grin, five apples, yes! Katie looked around and realized that she was going a bit slow as many others had already finished, pfft, she didn't care.

Sky searched and searched for another apple. Finally, she got one and bit into it. She pulled it out of the barrel and then pulled it out of her mouth like she had the first one. She added it to the pile of one beside her barrel. Two down, three more to go! She took a minute just to breathe and see how well the others were doing.

William bobbed for his apples. He got them all.

After her minute to breathe, Sky dunked her head back into her barrel. She really started to get serious about getting apples and ended up with…… two at once?! She pulled them out of the barrel with her teeth and repeated the same process she had done with the others. Four down, one more to go!!! She started to notice how wet she was. Oh well, she could dry off later. She dunked her head back into the barrel, searching for her final apple.

Did I get it? Sarah opened her eyes once. Ah! There's a little devil. She lunged forward and grabbed the apple. She withdrew from the barrel of water and stood still. Do I look funny now? The apple was quite bigger than she thought it was. She dropped it on a near by plate. Phew.

One down. Four to go. Can't wait for this to get over!

Sarah spotted a girl sitting and watching them. Aren't we all participating? Oh. She was the prefect. Hufflepuff right? She waved towards her. "Thank you" she smiled, "Are you going to miss this fun?" she asked.

WHAT? Now she was going to have to get WET?!?!?!?!??! Aurora tied back her hair with her green and silver ribbons and walked up to the barrels - she wasn't going to miss out on competition... but she was definitely going to be complaining about this later... to someone... She tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear and got ready... then...

Deep breath. One, two, three...

She lowered her face towards the barrel and began to search for an apple... every time one of them came close enough to her mouth she would try and bite on it but it would just slip away. Then... AHA! She caught the stalk of one of the apples between her teeth and stood up, grabbing the apple from her mouth and plonking it on the floor next to her... Oh yes, living in Dublin over halloween had definitely paid off... only there apple bobbing was a competition... with prizes. And most of the time you had to do it whilst wearing a lot of halloween make-up...

Right, one down... she lowered her head again...

Caroline looked around as Katie and the others started bobbing for their apples. She had seen other playing this game before. She had never tried it before, mostly for the fact that she was afraid of drowning, (yes it was always a possibly of drowning in the shallowest of water) Luckily Braeden had taught her how to swim in the lake last term.

She watched as Katie dipped her head down it the water and she was sure that she had it. But Katie came back up with nothing. Then Cass, was that Cass? She hadn't seen her in a long time. She watched as she dipped her head down in the water and tried to grab an apple. The soon came back up with an apple. Then she went back head first into the water. And in minutes she was back up with the other four apples.

Now it was time her to get on the ball. She walked over the barrel and dipped her head down into the barrel. Merlin that was coldddddddSome water had gotten up her nose, but she found a apple that she pushed up against the wall of the barrel she started to take a bite into the apple. She got it.

four more to go......

So the third floor corridor it was, right by all the suits of armor. Ness grinned as she spotted the buckets and the apples. She knew for sure what they were going to do, it wasn't something new to her. She had some experience in bobbing apples and thought this activity would be rather fun. She listened to the Griffindor prefect as he explained the instructions, she knew exactly what to do.

Right let's do this. Ness encouraged herself. She took a hair band from around her hand and tied her hair into a ponytail. She didn't really feel like wetting her hair much. She then walked over to a bucket and looked into it. Five apples that's all she needed. She took a deep breathe and then stuck her head in the bucket biting onto an apple with her small teeth. She then carefully lifted her head up and dropped the apple beside the bowl.

Four more to go, the Lochness could do it.

And now for apple number two... Urgh, she hated apple bobbing... except that one time when... she laughed and spluttered in the water a little at the memory. She moved her head back, taking a deep breath, and submerged her mouth once more, searching for an apple... right. There it was. She used her teeth to gently turn it over in the water until... AHA! She caught the stalk between her teeth and stood up, grabbing the apple from her mouth and dropping it next to her other one.

Apple number two. You have been captured.

After a bit of speed walking, Daichi had reached the floor he hoped the first clue held. And seeing the strange barrels with apples in them standing there he knew he was right. Red...fruity..chomping... Oh he knew what to do all right.

The second year listened carefully at the instructions in the hope he didnt got it wrong from what he thought they were suppose to do.

So, the game came from Ireland? That was a fact he didn't know and he made a mental note for that. Mayby they needed it later? He then listened to the instructions and looked for a barrel when it was over. Taking his hat off, Daichi took a deep breath before placing his head in the water, trying to capture an aplle with his teeth.

Drinking eachothers spit? Oh NO. That was truely disgusting..
Shuddering, Thea approached a barrel despite her disgust, and peered into it. Apples. Bobbing apples. Hm. Fun? Not really..

Kneeling by one, she tightened the bobble that already held her dark curls in a high ponytail. Taking a deep breath, she lowered her face into the cool water. It wasn't that cold, but it wasn't boiling either. It made Thea shiver slightly as she hunter for a first apple. The soft skin of one brushed her lip, and she quickly manouvered her head so her mouth was on top of it. Biting down sharply, she felt the satisfying crunch as her teeth sank in.

BOOYA.

Taking her head out, she shook her head spraying water everywhere. She dropped the apple by her bag and went in again for the rest..

After quite a bit of time trying hard, Jez managed to get her third apple. She grinned, and plunged her head back in. Two more to go.
She chased an apple around the barrel, and finally managed to get it in her teeth. Mmm. Remind her to have a quick snack on one of those apples after this was over.
And the last apple was near her ... it didn't take too much corralling to rein the elusive apple in. Jez spit the apple out into her hand and shook out her waist-length black hair, which was now completely wet. Jez didn't mind. She rummaged in her pocket until she found a piece of string, and quickly scraped her hair into a ponytail. Then she stood up to watch everyone else finish, giggling uncontrollably.

Irish? Was Jai out of his mind? Although it was an Irish game Selina had never really played it before with her family. That was saying something since the whole Skylar side of Selina's family was Irish. As in Irish-Irish. Her grandparents even lived in the countryside right outside of Dublin. But she kept her mouth shut because bobbing for apples did seem like a fun event so she was not going to complain.

So she approached the bucket and held her breath. With one preparation she blunged into the abyss that was in the crystal clear water filled with ruby red apples.

Bobbing for apples? She has never played it before, but she has to admit it does sound fun. Moving on to a barrel full of water and bright red apples. With her hands holding the edge of the barrel, Aiden takes a deep breath, hoping she would not drown, before she pushes her head into the water. With eyes still open, Aiden looks for nearest apple to her, grabs it with her mouth and finally pulls her head out of the barrel.

One down, four more to go. Do they get to keep these apples anyway?

Wow. Tori was loud.

While underwater, Auggie could hear Tori shouting to get started. He started to laught a bit and choked on some water, forcing him to yank his head out of the water. But as he did so he ended up biting onto an apple and bringing it up with him.

"Awesome." he said after pulling the apply from his mouth, his curly hair nor sopping wet. He dunked his head back into the barrell.

God. Apples. Water.

Janice had feared those games where you need to take apples with your mouth from a tub of water since she choked on one years back. Now they need to do it again. Perfect.

She waited for other people to come.

Tiffany was getting more and more excited with this game. Watching others bobbing their apples made her want to have her own try. She found her target and...she got it! *crunch* She took a bite of the apple with her face all wet, looking a bit silly but she didn't care a lot about it. All she cares was to have fun.

Once again, Aiden sinks her head into the barrel and searches for more apples. Sinking her teeth into one of them, she pulls her head out and puts the second apple aside. Now for the third one, she dives her head into the barrel again and pulls out another bright red apple with her mouth. Frankly, her head is starting to feel funny.

Sarah ducked again. She just couldn't spot one and delved deep to the last of the barrel. This is silly. She moved her head left and right, it looked as though she was wiping her nose vigorously. It tired her. She withdrew and took a breath and once again delved in. She caught one immediately. Hard works pays, Sarah. The apple was so red. Just three more! She jumped excitedly and smiled. And the apple, it just fell!

"Oh, great!" she scowled. Sarah dipped her head in, furiously and the caught the same one she lost. She stood up and took it in her hand. "Gotcha! Running away are yah?!" she shouted in excitement. Oh sheesh. The crowd. "Oops! Sorry guys" she said rather embrassed, Hoping she hadn't disturbed anyone in the course of her apple quest.

Two more to go. Aiden stares at the barrel intensely as if she is trying to use Legilemency on it. Then, she gets her head back into the barrel and comes out with an apple. Releasing it into her hand, her head enters the barrel one last time and comes out with the final apple. Done. Wonder what will the next clue be? On the other hand, she needs to get herself dry.

Moving on to one of the barrels, Louisa peered in to see if the water was clean enough. What? She did not just trust Captains & Prefects activities. Seeing Vashti nearby, the girl grinned at her best friend and lifted her sleeves up (even if that was unnecessary). Leaning her hands on the edges, taking deep breath Louisa sank in... kind of.

She opened her eyes under water and saw the apples moving around from the impact of her face hitting the water, she waited until one was close, opened her mouth and...

..BREEEEEATH. She was out catching her breath and coughing little water. Louisa eyed the barrel evilly and wiped her mouth with her sleeve. She had to be quick at opening her mouth and catching the apple. That was the trick.

Back to diving, Louisa sank her face into the water slower this time, an apple was floating at her nose and she was able to bite into it and raised her head quickly.

Arya was happily watching the task and vanishing puddles of water when a little lion spoke to her. She got finger waggles and a wide grin. "I'm not missin a thing." The prefect shook her head. "It's just as fun for me to watch." And if they liked this, they would love the next few tasks.

Sky finally found her last apple! She repeated the same process she had for the last four apples, and got off the floor. Whew! She cast "Tergo" to dry off her clothes, and then stood waiting by her pile. She watched her fellow participants gather their apples. Some were already finished and were waiting like her, while others were close.

Number three, here we go. Oh no!!! THIS APPLE HAD NO STALK!!!! Argh! With great difficulty Aurora managed to crunch her teeth into it... HAHA! YOU ARE FOILED, MR APPLE! She lifted her head and grabbed the apple from her mouth, placing it on the ground next to the other two...

4 apples down, Thea had only one more to go. Sloshing the water around as she moved her head, THea hunted desperately for the last apple. She had no idea whatsoever why she had even joined in with this ridiculous thing..

AHA. Snapping her teeth at the apple, she got it after a couple of goes at it. Taking her head out of the bucket, she dropped it immediantly. Reaching out her hands, she felt the soft material of a spare towel. Pressing it to her face, she also began to dab at her damp hair. 'Ok.. I've done it!' She called to whichever Prefect was in charge.

Kennedy watched with an amused smile on his lips when he saw Aurora with an apple in her mouth. Hehe, adorable. He didn't want to interfere with her concentration, so he dunked into the water once again. He used his teeth to hold down on the stalk and then clenched them on.

Yep, yep.

After number two, hehe.

Jai stood by the wall, watching. He couldn't help but chuckle as it was a pleasure seeing everyone, dive in and have fun. Literally.

"Looking good everybody. Keep it up. They're slippery little buggers but you'll get 'em." he said as encouragement.

He moved along, making sure everyone was ok. Taking out his wand, he dried the floor around the barrel so that nobosy slipped on the wet floor. That would spoil all the fun. Safety first.

Jai saw a Huffie looking around. She seemed a little hesitant."Don't be shy or afraid. If you have any problems call for me. Trust me it's fun." he said in a soft tone.

He saw a first year Gryffindor girl and she was having a ball."There you go Tiffany. That's how to do it." he said smiling at her.

There was a Slytherine girl who seemed to be doing very well,"You look like a pro. Get those apples. Keep it up and they might rename the game after you." Jai remarked to her with a smile.

Jai stopped at a girl who seemed to bite a little too hard into her apple,"Don't worry about that one. You either get another one or it's fine. I'm sure the apple doesn't mind." he reassured her with a gentle pat on the shoulder.

Going in again? Most definately!

August was thoroughly enjoying himself with this Bobbing for Apples business. He had never expected this to be going on today and was pretty sure he preferred this to the working on of homework he had planned to do after lunch when he had stopped to talk to Tori.

Taking a deep breath the Gryffindor jammed his head back into the water, his face smashing into an apple, sending it back to the bottom. Ooops. He moved his head around the barrel and finally his mouth found and apple and August bit right into it. Coming back up for air, he dropped the apple on the floor before wiping the water out of his eyes. "Only two more to go now." He grinned.

Kennedy swiped his hair away from his eyes so he could see who had spoken to him. He saw the guy then the badge. A prefect. Kennedy smiled widely. "You think." Wow a prefect guy actually complemented him. He'd want to a prefect one day.

Turning back he examined how he would be getting the next apple. He narrowed his eyes and with a fast motion he dove in. His mouth open, landing on a slope-y surface. He secured the his teeth were well attached to the apple and then he pulled out.

Woooooot!

Okay...okay, OKAY!

Marilyn was going to do it. She wasn't happy about it...but, well, this was competition...and she had this thing about winning. Even if it wasn't suppose to be about winning...What was she saying? Of COURSE it was about winning.

Moving forward, she pulled up the sleeves of her robes. Also, tying her hair up. This was going to get...messy...but it could be fun. *nods*

Lowering her face to the water, she took a deep breath before pushing in. The shock of the temperature caught Marilyn off guard at first...but she recovered quickly. The coldness of the pitch had helped in that regard.

Opening her eyes under water, she spied apples. With both hands on either side of the barrel, she maneuvered her face closer to a small group of them. Using her tongue and teeth, she attempted to bit into the red fruit...

...Failing at first.

Resurfacing, she took another deep breath, and tried again. Sinking her face back into the water, Marilyn spied the apples again. Going towards the bunch with her face and mouth, she caught the stem of one apple and tore it away from the others. Moving her mouth around the top of the fruit, she was FINALLY about to sink her teeth into it.

SUCCESS!

Pulling her face from the watch, Marilyn sputtered, dropping the apple in her hand.

So, four more to go...

Dropping her first one at her feet, Marilyn dived back into the water. She could use the same technique to retrieve all the apples...

Spying more of the fruit, she moved towards them, grabbing a second with her teeth successfully.

Pulling out her face and dropping the second piece of fruit at her feet, she moved to push her face into the water again. The shock of the water had worn off, thankfully. Looking for another apple, she moved towards it, but it was eluding her.

She couldn't seem to position her mouth around this one...The blonde tried rolling it with her tongue...but that was just pushing the apple away. Getting a little frustrated, she lifted her face out of the water and positioned it right above the offending fruit. She WOULD get that apple...

Lowering it down, she was able to graze the crown of the apple with her teeth. Sinking them in, she pulled the third apple out of the water.

SUCCESS, AGAIN!

Oiiiiiiii veyyyyyyy. This was annoying. Tori could feel the icy water just RUINING HER MAKEUP the instant she dunked her head in the barrel. She flailed around a bit and tried to yell, but instead just got water and apples in her mouth. Well that worked, at least.

The redhead yanked her sopping wet face up out of the barrel and emerged with not one but TWO apples in that big mouth of hers. All right. She spat them out with a disgusted expression and then dived back in to get the next three.

Caroline went right back to work sticking her head back down into the water. She had another one cornered up against the wall of the barrel. She found that cornering her [s] victim[/b] apple was the best way to get it. When she finally got the apple she resurface, with her second apple in hand.

Sitting in beside the first one she drove her head back into the water. Cornering yet a third apple, she bit at it, the apple was bigger than she thought it was and couldn't get her big mouth around it. She came back up but quickly when back to try again.

She had a big enough mouth to get it around this apple, and she knew it.

She wasn't going to let this big ruby red apple get away......

Going back she opened her mouth as big as she could, even under the water she could hear a crunch letting her know that she had it. She was going to save that one for later, definitely, it was just to good looking to waste.

Kurumi didn't really mind playing the messenger since it was Carter who had asked her. Anything for one of her big brothers, right? Upon entering the armor gallery, Kurumi had to cover her mouth from bursting into a fit of laughter. People were drenched, apples in their mouths, but at least it looked like everyone was having fun.

She smiled at each person as she walked by, but her attention was more on Arya and Jai than anywhere else. "How is everything going here?" she asked, taking another glance over her shoulder. Seemed like everything was going swimmingly. "Carter and Evelyn," well, mostly Carter. "...wanted me to tell you that they are all set up and ready for anyone who has their five apples." She glanced at Arya with a knowing nod.

As Kurumi began to walk through the crowd that had gathered, Kurumi remembered Carter's request: an apple. Merlin that boy and his appetite was going to get him into trouble. Kurumi was just about to nonchalantly drop her hand into a barrel and grab an apple, but that wouldn't be fair to the others. Shrugging her shoulders, Kurumi laughed. "When in Hogwarts..."

She quickly dunked her head into the nearest barrel and flailed around a bit until her teeth connected with an apple and she removed her head from the barrel with a slightly dramatic hair flip a la Little Mermaid - it had been unintentional, but her hair WAS really long.

Saluting Jai and Arya, Kurumi removed the apple from her mouth and scampered off to deliver Carter his apple.

Caroline send Kurumi come in and she knew that the prefects and captains must have the next clue ready. She scanned her barrel for two smaller apples, if she could get that last big apple then two smaller ones should be simple right?

The problem was there were two small ones almost on oppside sides of the barrel. So she moved the barrel around trying to get the two little apples closer to each other.

Alas success.

Now all she had to do was stick her head down in the water, and get these last two apples. She drove head first into the barrel. She got 'em both in one try on the first try. She was so going to owl her mother and tell her she was right about one thing her whole life. She had a feeling that she looked like a overstuffed chipmunk with the apples hanging out of her mouth and spit them out and Squealed "Done!"

Tori dipped her head back in and bit down hard on the first thing her mouth came in contact with. Fortunately, it turned out to be an apple. The girl flung her head out of the barrel and released her bite-hold on the third apple.

WOO. Two more!

Without even checking to see how her partner August was doing, Tori dived back into that FREEZING water and this time, it took her a few moments to dig around for the next few apples. But she managed at last and emerged two more times, with one apple in mouth each turn.

"DONEEEEE!" the redhead called out victoriously, throwing her hands up in the air and flinging more water everywhere. WHOOOOOo. She had SURVIVED Ireland!

The Puff prefect was keeping track of how many students had already captured their five apples while she cleaned up the mess they were making. They were all doing so well! She was proud.

Shifting on her stool, her eyes turned to the young lion prefect when she walked over. "Heh. They're doing great! Havin so much fun they wanted me to join in." Arya grinned. She would join in later.

Oh! They were ready? "I'll send some over now." She returned the knowing nod with one of her own, and while Kurumi went over to snag an apple, her's was in her pocket, she stood up on her stool for all the students to see. "Hey guys!!" That should get their attention, but she waited all of five seconds just in case. "For those who have all five of their very much needed apples, I have the next clue!"

The prefects reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of parchement, handing those who had their five apples duplicates when they came up to her. And of course they got smiles and congrats.

"Have fun at the next clue guys! And keep up the good work those who don't have all five yet. Almost there!"

OOC: For all that RPed getting all five apples, the next clue is here! Take it and run to find the next task!! You don't need to wait for me to respond, just play as if Arya's giving you the clue when you come up to her. The rest, keep going, your almost finished with this task!!

Auggie dunked his head back into the freezing water that was in his barrell. Really in his excitment to get started did he pick the one with the coldest water? The Gryffindor still needed two more apples and he wasn't about to give up from cold just yet.

He noticed Tori had just finished and he better hurry up before she thought she was better at bobbing for apples than he was, which was obviously wrong. He fished around in the water, mouth wide open and felt the stem of an apple attach between his teeth but he didn't come up. Then he grabbed the second and last apple just as he was about to come up for air; he did it!

"Yes! We did it Tori!" he said pumping a fist in the air. Yeah, they ruled.

"HOLLA!" Tori shouted, giving Auggie a giant, hard high-five. "WHOOOOOO."

She was clearly still on an apple-bobbing, my-head-is-frozen high.

Still hyper from her achievement, Tori practically rushed the prefect handing out clues. She bounced over to her and yanked a clue out of her hand, leaping over to August to show it to him too.

"What does it all MEAN? Where do we GO? Should we take our apples with us?"

Just in case, the girl loaded up on the five apples that had fallen by her barrel. She looked real funny now, what with her pockets being loaded down and all. But whatevs.

Tori Bunbury was here to WIN.

Kennedy rubbed his eyes. He didn't like getting water in them. He looked down at the pile of apples he had so far collected. Three. Two more and he'd be ready for the next clue. He was very excited about this. He wondered if they would include Mexico for this around the world thing.

His head was back in the barrel. He could feel his head bumping with the apples. He felt one near his cheek and he turned to it, sinking his teeth into it.

Gotcha!

Katie looked at teh clue, this was much more confusing then the other, but it seemed they might be bringing the apples with them, Katie didn't care, she was going to win! She loaded her pockets until they were full of apples, one pocket had one more apple then the other which made her a bit of balance.

Katie thought for a moment, thats it! Katie rushed off and was ready for the next challenge.

Sky grabbed her apples, hurried over to the prefects and took a clue. She rushed over to the door and stopped a second to read it, then took off. She wasn't one to chat (much) when there was a race going on!

Grinning brightly, August recieved Tori's hard high five and then ran his hand through his hair, pushing his wet bangs off of his face. He hoped his hair would dry soon, you didn't want to go running around the drafty castle with wet hair--he could catch a cold!

Chuckling slighty at her brashness, the Gryffindor walked over to where Tori now stood after snatching the next riddle from the Hufflepuff Prefect. August smiled at the other girl before beginning to read over her shoulder. "Well it's got to do something with the staff. 'Somewhere only they can eat'? Maybe we aren't supposed to be wherever that is?" It could help them figure it out at least; they were banned from many places.

Well. WELL. Tori scoffed as August started to puzzle out the puzzle.

*SCOFF*

"Obviously it's the staff table," she pointed out. "Now, we're going to need our apples I bet." There was a line in there about that. "And we'll probably have to like... cook something..."

Which was good, cuz she had a hankering to bite into some of these apples already. "You got yours?" Tori patted her pockets to demonstrate that clearly she had hers.

His jaw was getting sore from missing some of the apples. He didn't usually stretch it that much. He looked down at the barrel. There was a big red apple that caught his eye. Hmm...that was his.

Oh, yeah.

He dived in an, but only ended up hitting his forehead on the edge of the barrel.

Ouuuuuch.

Kennedy pulled away, rubbed his throbbing forehead and went for it again. DUNK! His teeth connected with it and Kennedy pulled out, water splashing everywhere.

Uh-huh, oh yeah. He got it.

That made five apples.

Kennedy went over to the Hufflepuff Prefect and read over the next clue. It took him a while longer to understand this one. He rubbed the back of his neck as he thought it over. Hmm...could that place be it? Might as well go check it out. He put his glasses back on and made his robes as a sack so he could carry his five apples.

Obviously the Staff table? He hadn't gotten that...

"Oh yeah of course I see it now." he said nodding and looking at her quickly and then back at the parchment. Oooh they would need their apples. She had her's now where were his?

Stepping back over to his barrel, the Gryffindor came back with his shirt streched out a bit, with the five apples laying in it, like a basket. "Got 'em. let's head out!" he said and walked off towards the Great Hall.

They got this.

Tori was right, she just knew it. Tut. At least August agreed.

She watched the Gryffindor gather his apples, wondering why she hadn't though to use her shirt as a basket, and then nodded as she followed him out of the bobbing appleland.

"To winning!" she cheered them on as they walked. "WINNING!"

It was everything.

Apples 4 and 5!
 

Having already collected 3...Marilyn only need two more...

DOS MOS!!

Sighing, she moved back in place in front of the bucket. Ducking her face back below the surface, the blonde opened her eyes. Spying more apples, she moved towards them. Just two more...one at a time.

The first she went for wasn't exactly positioned in the most ideal way. It side was facing her...and it just was NOT easy to bit into the wide side...Not to mention her mouth just wasn't that big. With her hands on the side of the barrel to maintain her balance, Marilyn attempted to shift it into an upright position.

This proved successful because she was then able to bit into the top to pull it out of the water.

HUZZAH!!

Placing it with the others, she went for her FINAL apple! *happy dance*

One of the apples was floating right at the surface and Marilyn was entirely PLEASED not to have to work too hard for it...Or, at least, that's what she thought.

Moving her face back towards the water, she tried to dig her teeth into the side of the apple...but instead of gripping it, she pushed it away. Grr...

Going for it again, the Slytherin was more precise in her mouth movements and was able to use her lips to move the blasted apple around. Clenching her teeth into it, Marilyn pulled the her FINAL apple from the barrel. YAY-ness!

Dropping it down to the ground, she allowed herself a victory dance. The feeling of SUCCESS was taking over and she smirked down at the apples next to her feet. "You thought you could get away...but I GOT you."

Picking them up off the floor, she carted them over to Jai. "Guess who just finished?! I DID! I got FIVE, see!" *shows off her work*

Giving him a wink, she walked from the area with HER apples (because she had worked so hard for them)...intent on finding the next activity.

What?! Hmmm...

Feed the staff.

Upon hearing those words, Katrina rushed out of the room to the desiread destination.

Cass, who was pretty much dry now - aside from her hair which was still matted around her face - looked up eagerly when the Hufflepuff prefect announced that she had the next clue for those who had already finished.

That was her! That was her! That was her!!! Yay.

So, she stood up from her spot on the floor, gathered her apples (she worked hard for them, she might as well bring her apples.) Then she walked over to said prefect and smiled eagerly when she was given the clue. The blonde read it once, twice, thrice until she finally realized where it was, and she ran off, regretfully thinking that whatever it was, they were going to use the apples. Bummer. And she was starting to get attached to them. Weird, right?

Only one more to go...
Tiffany scanned at the apples then she found her target. She leaned forward. Taking a deep breath, she started bobbing.*chrunch*Got it! Again,she got all her face wet but she was having loads of fun indeed. Turning back, noticing a boy standing behind her. She smiled back and went for the next clue.

Thea smiled. 'In it to win it and all that..' She muttered to herself. Yup. The pride. Muhaha. BRING IT.



Thea smiled at the Prefect as she was handed her piece of parchment. A small crease between her eyes appeared as she read it. Shrugging to herself, Thea gave her face one last dab and headed to what she guessed to be the correct place.

Isabelle had known that the prefects and captains were going to be staging an event, she was staff after all. But what she wasn't sure of was whether the staff were allowed to actually participate in the fun parts. So for that reason, she was hanging back, standing in the eaves of the third floor, and observing the kids doing the first task. With great amusement. Of course the child within her was itching to go and bob for apples herself - but she was going to refrain until most, if not all, of the kids had finished and moved on.

And not long later it seemed like they had. Bar a couple of stragglers, they had received their instructions from Arya and rushed off to....wherever it said they should be. She'd probably follow them after, just out of curiosity. But now, all she wanted was one apple. Just one. The task had taken her back to when she lived at home and they'd do apple bobbing at Halloween. Fun times.

Slowly easing herself out of the shadows, Isabelle looked right and left to check if anyone else was watching. Walking over to one of the barrels, she pulled her hair back from around her face. She wasn't worried about getting it wet, no. Just didn't want a mouthful of it when she went in for the grab. Positioning herself just so, she looked down at the bright red apples and grinned. It was like being a child again.

Another quick glance around, and she was ready to do it. Taking a deep breathe, Issy plunged her face into the water and started grabbing at the apples with her teeth. After what seemed like ages, but was only a few second, she managed to get one and bit into it hard. Pulling her face back out, the water dripped down her forehead and into her eyes - but when taking the apple out of her mouth a triumphant grin spread across her lips. "Ha! Got it!." Probably a little too loud.

Now, where had they all gone to?

Of course someone was watching. It was Arya. Hehe. Her job was to watch all the barrels and hand out clues. And when she finished passing out duplicates of the clue to all of the eager students who had their five, she looked back at the barrels and spotted the transfigurations professor bobbing for an apple. Grinning, she looked to the other few students still going for the apples, calculating how long it was before she could wander off to the next clues. She didn't want them to start without her!

"Are go going for all five, Professor?" Did she know what they were for? Arya hopped off the stool gracefully and made more duplicates of the clue, eyes still on the event.

Isabelle dived into the bucket full of apples. Isabelle carefully opened her eyes even though they were under water a little bit and took a quick bit at the first apple that was near her. Isabelle brought her head up slinging water all over the place and placed her apple next to her.

Isabelle stuck her head in once more and managed to get another apple. Look at this, it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Ok the third one coming right up. Isabelle went in once more searching around. It was getting harder. But, finally she got an apple. She placed it next to her other apples. Looking around she saw one close to her and leaned down and plucked it out of the water with her mouth. This time she didn't even get wet. Finally Isabelle went for her last apple and dove down. Opening her mouth wide she grabbed one and put it in a bag along with the other ones before heading off to the great hall.

Oh, she had been so busted.

And there she was hoping Arya had been looking in the other direction. Heh. Wiping her wet hair off her forehead, Issy dried her face with the sleeve of her robes. No need for fancy drying spells right then, she'd do that later. It wasn't that important. But was she going for the full five? Wellll....

"I don't want to take away from the students," she smiled, placing the apple in her pocket in case she did need it later. "You created this all for them, I just couldn't resist trying that again." Although she might go along to the next location - to make a nuisance of herself inspect what was going on. "May I?" Isabelle held out her hand, asking for one of the clues. She was interested in what they were like. Even if she did know where it would lead to.

Alyssa was surprised when she walked into the room and noticed students with their heads in barrels of water. Those who werent had wet hair. Then she noticed some students emerging out of the barrels with apples in their mouths. Apple bopping!! "That's my favorite game. Can anyone play?" Alyssa asked.

She quickly ran over to a barrel with apples floating in it. She took out a scrunchie out of her pocket and tied back her hair. Then taking a deep breath she dunked her head in the barrel and using her chin, she moved one of the apples to the side of the barrel. While keeping it lodged in position with her chin, she slowly manoevred her head until her mouth touched the apple. She opened her mouth while pressing the apple to the side of the barrel, slowly gripped the apple with her teeth. Once she had a good grip, she pulled it out of the barrel. Her face was sopping wet but she had one apple. Taking it out of her mouth, she placed it on the table. Taking a deep breath again, she ducked her head back into the barrel for more apples.

Following the same technique as she had done before successfully pulled out four more apples within a short time. Taking a towel from her bag, she wiped her face and dried off her hair. Then she looked around to see what she needed to do. Spotting a prefect who seemed to be giving out pieces of paper to the students holding apples in their hands, Alyssa picked up her five apples and went over to the Prefect. "This was lots of fun." she told the Prefect. "Can you tell me what I need to do next? I'm kinda fuzzy about all that is happening here."

Arya took the time to dry the floors again while the professor was drying off her face. She didn't want any students slipping and she defiantly didn't want one of her professors to slip. Who would help her if she got hurt?! "We have enough apples for everyone." She motioned to the barrel of extra apples behind her that... well, they weren't all that visible to others, so she could see why the professor thought they might run out.

"I can't resist the next few tasks." She grinned and handed her one of the clues. "Here ya go, Professor." The awesome professor probably didn't the clue anyway, the next task being in her turf. "You'll need four more apples though, if you want to participate in the next task." And Arya wasn't fussed with her taking some of the extras if she didn't want to bob again either.

But who didn't love bobbing twice?

No one had been as excited as this Puff, or hardworking. Arya wasn't surprised at all, she was proud. The prefect grinned at the ickle girl. "You only need five, but you can take the others with you if you like! In case you wanna give the next task a second go round." She motioned to Magnus. "Or you can give them to the professor if she wants them." Never did hurt to ask.

"Here." She handed the girl the next clue. "That clue will tell you where to go next once you figure it out. And when you get there, the prefects running that event will tell you want to do next. If you need any help with this clue though, I can help more." Or she could always follow the professor out. It was always a thought.

Ariana Had to Bob For 5 Apples!!! 5 apples! Ariana had never bobbed for an apple in her life but it looked easy enough.


Ariana pulled back her long black hair And stuck her head in the tub going for an apple 'MERLIN'S BEARD this is COLD!' Ariana thought to herself. She finally felt an apple & Bit it. one down 4 to go.

Ariana Did this quickly cause she was not a fan of this game at all.

she went back into the cold icy water 4 more time & did it quick surely to get an apple in seconds.
After retrieving all 5 apples Ariana went to the head girl to get her next clue

Sarah delved into the barrel quite furiously. Arya's announcement on the readiness of the second task sparked of some will power in her. She scrabbled for the apples with only one flaw, no hands. Ha! Gotcha. She removed her face from the water along with not just one, but two apples. Just one more!

She took a deep breathe and delved in again, determined to finish this one. She caught one immediately. YES! "It's done" she called to Arya, dropping the apple in the plate. She rushed towards her and grabbed the next clue. "Thanks" she said and ran away. Silly game. Nah. Fun game.

Well her face was now dry, but her hair was still somewhat wet. That could wait though, she was more interested in how things were going here and everywhere else. They had enough apples? Isabelle looked in the direction Arya was pointing to and nodded. "Oh, so you do." It was incredibly tempting, she had to admit.

Taking the clue with a grateful grin, she gave it a read and nodded her head. Whoever had written these was very good. The kids were certainly organised - it was good to see. "I think I'll just help if anyone wants me too," Issy smiled. "I'll leave all the fun to you kids - now, anyway," she chuckled, eyeing up the barrel she'd just stuck her face in.

As Arya conversed with another of the students, Issy folded the parchment with the clue on and placed it in her pocket where the apple had previously gone. Then she heard her name mentioned - or rather her title, as she was sure the kids didn't know her first name, much less call her by it while at school. "Well, thank you, but I'll pass on the extra apples. I'll probably see you at the next location, though, Alyssa."

As she FINALLY arrived to the place the first clue indicated, the second year scanned the place. Really? 'Bobbing for apples...', she mumbled as if she'd hate the idea. '...that sounds great!', she finally said and a smirk appeared on her face, as she finally prepared to begin. What if I use my wand? Maybe no one will notice..., she thought but then decided to give up the idea. This time it would be best NOT to cheat, Gwen told herself.

1....2....3!, she thought to herself and took a deep breath, ready to try grab the first apple. 'Ehem-hem', she chalked with the water and looked down at the apple. I hate you!, she said telepathic to the fruit. Realizing how stupid that might have seemed, she took a deep breath and tried once again- this time managing to take the apple. Only 4 more to go!

It took her pretty much time to get all the 5 apples, but she succeeded. HA! I did it!, the second year congratulated herself as she payed attention to the clue.

*nod nod * I know this one!, she thought and grinned. Turning around, Gwen was ready to leave...
