| | |  Apparition Lesson 2 - The Three D's of Apparition
There can only be so many steps in Hogwarts. As you all scramble up the steps to get to the Divination classroom, there's the silver ladder from the first lesson, leading up to the open trapdoor in the ceiling. Where Mister Recard's flashy sign was once, is now a simple note stuck on with the sticking charm.
When you get up to the classroom, you can tell that nothing has really been changed from the last time you've been in here. Except maybe the desks were straightened out a bit, but there was no big change. From the windows you can see a beautiful view of the grounds, marred by all the muddy puddles the winter snow has left. But when you enter, you can see that department head is no longer there, instead, there is a young blonde woman with a cup of coffee on the desk. However, fear not, there is one familiar face from last time - the Apparition supervisor is here.
The chalk board remains blank and the two are relatively calm. Well, maybe not the blonde, she does seem a bit nervous. So why not take a seat and be patient as you await the arrival of all your other pupils? OCC: This lesson is hosted by the Apparition Examiner for the Written part, Katrina Rayne (iBeJenn) and the Apparition Supervisor, Katherine Spades (PhoenixRising). Please keep in mind that this lesson is only for students who are going to turn 17 by the end of this term and older, anyone who is not old enough to attend the lesson will be asked to leave. Wait.
They could start Apparating right now? Like NOW? Okay, yeah, he wasn't as ready as he thought he was.
But that Slytherin girl had a good question.
Sure, Treyen knew about those three D's they still explained, but how exactly did Apparition worked? They just thought of...what? Safely arriving at their Destination? Which was...where? He hadn't been paying much attention had he? He didn't look lost, though, he looked as if he was incredibly interested in whatever Miss Spades (that was her name?) had to reply to the Slytherin one.

But after her dark green eyes darted to the various faces around the room, she was sure the girl HAD been serious. "You focus, my dear. Picture the spot you want to apparate to clearly in your mind - that's the destination. Picture yourself arriving to that spot in once piece - determination. And the last, deliberation, when you free yourself in its entirety from your current spot, when you liberate yourself, and go." What did they expect? Wand-work? "There's no spells or enchantments. Just 100% focus. Mind clarity."

Well...
Alrighty now...
Now that she was right here, learning how to apparate right now, the bundle of nerves just seemed to exploooode. She didn't want to be splinched. Nope nope. Didn't want it! High chance of it happening and...for the love of Merlin, could they have bigger hoops please? Staring at the closest one, the Slytherin unaware that she was wringing her hands together slightly, she took a deep breath as Miss Whatshername explained things again.
Glancing around at the others, she kinda just stood there awkwardly. Well no, she tried to focus on the Destination and Determination part, but she was SORTA HOPING that someone else would try this first. You know...
Just in case anything bad happens.

She'd hoped something that she'd learned over the last seven years would help, this was all about concentration! Her face was pink from embarrassment now.
Picture herself...where she wanted to go...arriving there NOT SPLINCHED. So if you did that you'd just appear there? Too bad she couldn't send herself back to her dorm...that's where she wanted to appear back in bed...
Ok. She could do this. Looking over at the head girl, she looked as fearful as she herself did! Swallowing, she turned back facing the nearest hoop. Closing her eyes she pictured herself in the hoop, be the hoop...you are the hoop she thought silently. Fully standing in the hoop! Nothing missing, having fully appeared there and nothing missing. Taking a deep breath she breathed out slowly. She was going to try...what worse would happen either she was splinched, stayed where she was or...appeared in that hoop. Concentrating on where she wanted to go, and wanting to fully appear there she thought GO! | |
