Their dorm would set on fire?! Kennedy blinked several times, but then realized that it was just a 'what if' question...or so he hoped. He thought about it and wondered what it would be. He didn't have anything that was valuable, except his Pygmy Puff, whom was a living thing, so he probably save her.

He raised his hand and said, "I'd take my Pygmy Puff," he said. Yep, because he always had his wand tucked inside his sock. Would Aurora count? She wasn't a thing, oh gosh no, and they didn't share dorms, so that was probably out of the question, but if that did happen, Aurora would be the first person he'd save.

M'hm.

Their dorm caught fire?

Well if that was the case, no one better blame her. She wasn't stupid to do such a thing in a dormitory. Nevertheless, it got her thinking on what she'd bring. Absentmindedly, she smiled somewhat as she heard Carter's answer while holding her necklace that Josh gave her in her hand. She always had it on so there was no need to worry about it. Her wand was always at least five inches away from her grasp, so there was no need to worry about that either. Poof was smart enough to get out quickly. Her friends were smart enough to get out too.

What in the world would she bring?!

Hmmm. Well actually, thinking it over for a few more moments, Evelyn finally raised her hand. "Well if I couldn't put it the fire out myself..." Because really, how hard was it to put out a dormitory fire with five or six other capable witches. "I'd bring Destiny." She could just picture her friend spazzing out about one thing or another...

Nora couldn't help but giggle silently when she noticed that someone had in mind to hug professor Lafay. She would like that too, but she knew it wasn't a good idea. But, you know, it would be nice to have at least a very Slytherin..ish group hug with the head of house. Hehe.

But back to the lesson.

A fire. In the dorm.

"I would take my lizard," she said with her hand in the air, and then lowered it to think about it. Of course Elijah would be the first and even only one to take out, eeeeeven though she might get burnt while looking for him. But that part didn't matter. There was no fire.

... was there?

At the look on Professor Lafay's face, Sky sneakily sniffed her shoulder. She didn't smell! She had taken three hours to shower after her detention, plus two more this morning! Anyway, she thought about the question for a minute. Everything she had brought to Hogwarts with her could be replaced, she hadn't brought any of her valuables. Then, it came to her. "I would save my friends, my pet, and myself of course," Sky answered. After all, her father had always said that friends, family, and your health were the most valuable things you could have.

Sierra returned Lafay's smile then looked the woman in the eye as the class began. Hmm. What would she take if she could only take one thing? Her wand was out of the question. It was always in its holster, so she'd be wearing it already. Her kneazle, Hissy Fit, was out, as well. The creature was intelligent all on its own and would know how to make its way out the dorm room. It'd just be a waste to try and grab him.

"My Head of House," Sierra said, her hand raised. It was true, and she wasn't just sucking up. As a matter of fact, she wasn't sucking up at all. That was truly her answer. "...but she'd likely know how to get out all on her own, so...my trunk. It's just one thing, but it's full of many other things, so I'd only be cheating myself if I chose something else." If she brought her trunk, she'd in turn be bringing all her belongings out. Yup. It was a win-win situation.

Nice way to start off a lesson! Fire in dorm? It was almost unthinkable! But still Ira hadn't thought about what her most precious thing was...

Her friends were smart enough to quickly move out and her pet pigeon, Stella was always on her shoulder when needed. So she wouldn't be taking her literally! Ira thought about it. "Umm professor, I'll bring my trunk out." Her trunk contained everything she would need..."But wouldn't the Accio spell work here? I mean, even if we forgot something, we can always make it come to us!" Ira hoped that she was correct. She didn't want a glare from the Professor or something!

Ugh..

A fire in their dorm? And they could only bring one thing out? Was Professor Lafay planning something!? But, before Destiny could dwell too much on that question, she found herself in quite a dilemma. What would she bring? The first thing she would grab would be her pets of course, but she had too many to consider them to be one thing, and since half of them were on her at all times, she didn't have to worry too much about them.

The next thing would be her trunk. But that would be too heavy for her to carry out! And most likely, if it wasn't Lafay starting the fire, whatever did start it would probably be found in her trunk.

Biting her lip in thought, she listened to everyone else's answer, hoping to get some idea as to what she'd bring. Carter mentioned Josh.. Evelyn mentioned bringing her.. which caused her to SCOFF. She was not a THING! But it was the thought that counted. And Sierra mentioned.. her Head of House!? What would Lafay be doing in the third year dorms?

Starting the fire probably.

Finally thinking of something, Destiny raised her hand. "I would take an extra pair of socks with me." One can never have too many pairs of socks.

Hm. Good question. Sarah blinked. Dorms catch fire in here? What can she take. Wand. Sheesh, It's always with you.

"I'd take certain books of mine." Sarah said, as she raised her hand. You couldn't get them anywhere else. "And yeah, probably my chess set." she finished.

Marilyn looked around the room at everyone...trying to decided what might work best as an answer. Some of her classmates were saying actually people...and pets...but the blonde Slytherin could do better than that. Her owl would fly away from a fire...and Bella was with Jasper and Tala...

She knew the Slytherins would know how to get out. They were a crafty bunch. There was no reason for any of them to need help...

"My journal, professor..." Her clothing and material things could be replaced...but her journal had memories, letters...very personal content that she could never replace. "Yes, my journal."

Lexi raised her hand and said, "I would just bring my photo album." The rest could burn for all she cared. SHe would probably sit and roast marshmallows for a while then grab the album and run. Heh.

ONE THING?! Is Professor Potions SERIOUS?! Urgh... ok, ok... One thing to bring...

Katrina raised her hand.
"My wand, Professor," the blonde First Year said. "I'm not leaving without my wand."

Weird but that's true... Unless she regrets it.

Well, FIRST...why would the sixth years' Hufflepuffs dorm be caught on fire to begin with? Simon.

And what would he take? Treyen raised his hand...and then decided against an answer. Knarls weren't allowed, right? That'd be the first he'll think of getting out of the dorm, "The first thing I could take notice of," he said, with a nod.

But if the situation was real, Treyen will be taking more than his Knarl for sure. His trunk could be levitated, and Thaddeus will be inside his pocket, so, in all fairness, he could even take the bed if he wanted to.

Hmm ... dorm on fire. Jez wondered about her wand, but thought it safe to assume she'd have it safely in her pocket like normal. She thought about it ... she'd already burned her family portrait ... her cat Rowena was backstabbing traitorous scum ... her books were great, but really, they weren't irreplaceable ... "My jacket," said Jez suddenly, and blushed. Scott's technically, but he had given it to her ... Oh Merlin, she wished she hadn't just told the whole class the jacket was special to her.

Whoah, Head Boy. Yeah thats him, but it was a bit more formal than usual. But before he could wonder what that could mean the Potions Mistress asked a rather unusual question, at least to him. Memory of the previous term's Potions stockroom fire flashed in his head. Since that incident it chased away all his notions that an underwater common room would be safeguarded against any inferno.

But what would he bring out of his own common room? In the stockroom fire he didnt leave to take anything out, he plunged in to help even. Pondering he looked at his shoes-- the Slytherin Chucks Lexi gave... the watch on his wrist... his wallet and a small pouch with the other valuables she's given him stashed safely in one pocket, his wand pressing annoyingly in the next. Then he looked up, raised his hand and replied "Myself." It sounded rather self-centered, but he knew if he didnt make it out alive it would devastate his loved ones to the point that it would be like dragging them into the inferno himself.

A fire? In a dorm underwater? Couldn't they put the fire out instead? But of course she wasn't going to be stupid and argue with the question...obviously Professor Lafay was after a certain answer...

Now, what would she choose? she would take her cat..if she brought Ice this year, but the kitten was at home,and she always had her wand with her, so that would be stupid.

What could she bring that was so important and was not easily replaceable? "I guess, I would bring Freya, professor." She answered "She broke her leg, she might not be able to run out so fast..."

But if she was to choose an object, then it could be her guitar. Yeah. That seemed fit.

Ariana smiled and nodded, accepting the Professor's greeting and waited as she greeted the rest of the class as well.

Hmmm... okay, interesting way to start a class. Tough question, too. Let's see... assuming that her wand was on her person, like it usually was, and Missy was a smart enough cat to get herself out of the way, she would probably take... "My sketchbook, with all of my drawings in it." Ariana finished her thoughts out loud.

If my dorm catches on fire? Easy. Aguamenti and it's done. Or the Flame-Freezing charm should do it. But only one thing that could be brought out. Hmmm... Janice raised her hand and answered.

"Well, I would take my picture album, or my cat out," she said.

She remembered getting that picture album for her 7th birthday. Half of it was filled with still-pictures, about a quarter of them moving with more smiles than the first part, and the rest empty.

Oh... hard question. Well... Salvatore probably. Because Sebastian would follow her out. Would she already have her wand with her? That was a really difficult one... She hesitated a moment before answering. "If I already had my wand, I would take my cat." Because Salvatore was a Salamander... he'd probably want to stay in the fire.

A fire in the dorm?

The first thing Mia would want to know was...'How did Evelyn get into her dorm?' Hehe. Okay what would she take?

Pretty simple really.

Raising her hand in the air, "Assuming that I had my wand on me." Which she usually did carry it around on her all the time now. "Then I would just take myself. Everything else is replaceable."

Her textbooks could buuuuuuuuuurn for all she cared.

"Wow! Now that's a very deep question," Alyssa thought to herself. But she knew what she would take.

Raising her hand, Alyssa told the Professor:

" I would take my wand because maybe if I knew a spell to put out the fire, I could help to put the fire out. Everything else can be replaced. However, if there was someone in the room with me, and they were unconscious, then I would take them instead. A human life can never ever be replaced. Even a wand comes second to that".

Alyssa hoped that she had made the right decision.

Well, at least she'd gotten a response from Professor Lafay. Stella would take whatever she got, as long as it wasn't anything entirely negative. A nod was rarely negative, so she settled in, continuig with her hope that this lesson wouldn't unfold like the last. Not to mention, she certainly wasn't about to try to hug the woman, even if there hadn't been a clear reason not to, thanks to a few of the other students. Just because the hate potion hadn't completely destroyed her relationships didn't mean she'd completely forgotten the feeling it had given her.

She wasn't about to make the mistake of telling any of that to the professor, however. She'd just stay quiet, as her spirits dropped the slightest at the opening question to the lesson. Now they were discusing dorm fires? Raising her hand, she spoke. "Assuming I had my wand with me already, I think I would take my kitten with me." Lyra meant the most to her, at least of her possessions, even if she knew Risa would think she was insane if she let her clothing all burn. And even if she hadn't had her wand with her, she could always replace that as well.

Hmmmm?

William raised his hand. " I would take my wand out" William told Professor Lafay. " Could we not use a spell to stop the fire after we gout our wands out?" William asked the professor.

He smiled as he heard Professor Lafay's greeting. The first question she asked was, if there was fire what would they bring... It sounds like an easy question but then choosing only one among all the things you have is very difficult. You have to choose these things correctly. Jonathan was going to say his owl but his owl was not even there. Jonathan sent him to deliver a letter from his parents.

So what would he take if there was fire in their dorm? He raised his hand to answer "My journal professor." he replied. The one where he usually draw his sketches. He doesn't let anyone see that journal, not even his parents. So yeah, he'll bring his journal with him.

Prudence looked at the teacher, before slowly raising her hand to answer the question asked. It actually wasn't that hard to answer, after all there was basically only one thing in her dorm actually important to her besides her friends. "My ballet shoes ma'am" she said quietly, almost expecting some weird reaction from someone, though in the back of her mind she knew it wouldn't happen
