Hecate seemed in somewhat a better mood. She had a few bags on one side of the room and she was looking at an old photograph. A very young Hecate Lafay in emerald and silver, on a broom wielding a beaters bat and a handsome young man, on a broom beside her guarding the goal hoops. She was twirling the bat above her head, cheering, and the boy was pumping his fist in the air.
It was her first championship win. Third Year.
She tucked the photo in her desk, opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
Kennedy put his gloves on and got three leaves of that weird plant. He took the leaves and put them in the mortar to begin crushing.
Kennedy allowed his eyes to briefly wander over to the guy that had the water spilled over his head. Aaaaak. Thank goodness he didn't open his mouth when the professor made him re-do everything all over again.
After he finished crushing the leaves, he took the dropper. One drop. Two drops. Three drops. Now, for the stirring. He stirred the water...potion...whatever it was called three times counter clockwise.
She cleaned her own cauldron and set the water to boil, then added the vinegar. "Now you put on your gloves and retrieve three leaves from the Dransul plant. Take one of the leaves and crush it in your mortar until the acid from inside the leaves comes out. It should make about three drops of acid. Add them with a dropped and stir three times counter clockwise." She said demonstrating.
Angelina put her gloves on and retrieve three leaves from the Dransul plant. She took one leave and crush it in her mortar, until the acid come out from inside the leaves. She took the three drops of acid and added them to her cauldron and stired three times counter clockwise.

Zhenya fastened her gloves on her hands, and got three Dransul leaves. She crushed one of them, allowing the acid from within it to seep out. She got three drops in her dropper and stirred her cauldron three times counter-clockwise.

It took everything in Marie not to laugh in the face of the boy who was now dripping wet. Really, when would these kids learn it does not pay to correct... or anger Lafay?
Putting on her gloves she went over and gathered the three required leaves. Once she was back at her seat she placed one of the leaves in her clean mortar and crushed it like a bug until the acid was all squished out of it. She then used her dropper and put exactly three drops of the acid into her cauldron then stirred three times counter clockwise.
Cleaned mortar, pestle and dropper. Took off gloves then updated journal while waiting for more instructions.

-Slowly poured it into cauldron while praying I didn't have too much water in there.
-Relieved there was room for the wine vinegar and more ingredients

Billywig stingers....Kourtney peered into her solution and, with her gloves still on, selected three stingers, as instructed. She had read somewhere that the sting of the billywig could make a person float above the ground. She was curious to actually see it, but certainly wouldn't volunteer for an experiment. She didn't like things that stung or buzzed or bit.
She dropped the stingers into the cauldron one by one, watching as they disappeared into the depths of the liquid.
"Now keep your gloves on... You want to take three billywig stingers and drop them in the moving water." She said going back to her cauldron and dropping her stingers.
Isabelle kept her gloves on and went to retrieve three billywig stingers. Once she had gotten back to her work area she carefully dropped them into her moving water one at a time. Then she pulled her notebook closely and began to write down the instructions.

Glaring at the Professor, he listened as she told them what to add next. Blocking her out like he wanted to wouldn't work in a lesson like this where her instructions were critical in the potion-making process--too bad.
August took the three billywig stingers he had with him and dropped them into the slowly accumulating ingrediants in his cauldren. He then scribbled that step down into his notes.
Kennedy left his question for later and went to get these billywig stingers. He then dropped them into his cauldron while the water was still moving. "Professor Lafay, is it necessary for the water to be moving while we drop the billywig stingers in?" he asked. Or, could the water be still then drop the billywig stingers. Would that make a difference at all?
Jesifur still had her gloves on, she took the three billywig stingers and dropped them into the swirling potion. She watched as they swirled around. Jesifur directed her gaze back to the professor and the next instruction.
Janice took 3 Dransul leaves and crushed one of them inside her mortar. When the acid comes out, she dropped 3 drops of the liquid and stirred 3 times counter clockwise. She then added the billywig stingers and dropped it as the fluid is still moving around.

Nora didn't even take them off, since she wasn't sure what to do, and it also sounded like the safest thing to do. Now that she didn't have to worry anymore about the gloves, she took the three billywig stingers and dropped them into the water.

Macy dropped in first the leaves she'd gathered from the plant, and then waiting until Professor Lafay moved on to the next step, added the billywig stingers to the moving water. GAH. Yes, she was glad they had to wear gloves for this class. The whole idea of touching a stinger of any kind freaked her out.

Did August just challenge Lafay? Gideon had heard it for himself and while pointing something to a professor might not be a bad thing...it proved you were paying attention. However Lafay was a different matter and he winced as the cauldron full of warm or hot water was dumped over the younger boy's head.
He swallowed and turned his attention to Professor Lafay in general as she instructed them on what to do next. Gideon slipped on his gloves and moved to retrieve the three leaves from the Dransul Plant and returned to his cauldron. "Scourgify," he cast on his mortar and pestle to make sure they were clean. Then putting a leave in the mortar, he crushed the leaf until the acid was seeping out of it.
Now for the drops, he mused to himself picking up his dropper and siphening up enough to add to his cauldron. One...two...three. Once the three drops were added, he switched his dropper for a stirring rod, stirring it counterclockwise.
Once...twice...three times.

One step down...another begining. As he listened to Lafay tell them about the new step, Gideon couldn't help but notice a lot of threes in the instructions and ingrediants. Interesting. MERLINS ROTTENS SHORTS those things were mobile meat-eating plants. Don't eat me. She thought wincing as she looked at the plant. Evil, evil, evil thing.
Putting on her dragon hide gloves she quickly retrieved one of the Dransul Plant leaves - DON'T EAT ME - she placed it into her mortar and taking the pestle she began to crush the leave.
She was sweating - eyes on the plant as she sat there. Scary little evilness - atleast it didn't seem like it wanted to take a huge honking bite out of her arm. Not yet at least - for all she knew it could have been thinking of just gobbling her up like dinner. Because she was better than meat - she was living meat. Living magical meat. Gulp.
When the acid had been extracted she dropped the small amount into the cauldron immediattly taking her stirrer and stirring the concoction three times counter clockwise.
Stir.
Stir.
Stir.
This was actually kind of fun.

Kurumi hadn't noticed the initial pouring of the potion all over August...which just went to show just how grossed out she had been about the whole acid coming from her leaf had made her...but she did now. He needed a cookie like a dragon needed a marshmallow - she had read that dragons were partial to marshmallows after all. After class, for sure.
But Professor Lafay had continued with her next set of instructions. Yeah, her little lion better be fine...
She picked up her three billywig stingers and checked to make sure the contents of her cauldron was still swirling around a bit. What happened if it had stopped? Was it alright to stir it again? The woman's mood was slowly darkening, so Kurumi dared not ask.

Oops... Looks like Marie should have left her gloves on. Then again, she wouldn't have been able to update her journal if she had. It was hard enough working with those things on let alone trying to write with them on.

Cass looked around the room, trying to see how the others were doing it before reaching for her own billywig stingers with one hand, while her other hand made sure that the potion was still slightly swirling.
Oh, what if it stops moving?
But she didn't want to think about that, because if it did, then the potion would go bad, and Lafay would get mad, and she might get potion spilled on her head too. Oh no. She didn't want that. So, she simply bowed her head down, seeking to be invisible as she dropped her billywig stingers at the slightly swirling liquid, thankful that she had done it.
Then she wiped her forehead with her arm, even though she hadn't been sweating and waited for the next next set of instructions as she pulled her gloves off for a moment to take the time to write her notes....which she still couldn't see properly.

Erin followed what Professor Lafay had instructed. She put on her gloves and retrieve three leaves from the Dransul plant. Taking the first leaf, Erin muttered, "Scourgify!" to clean her mortar. Professor Lafay hadn't flipped a cauldron this time. Destiny really was expecting it to happen, though. She had heard the few gasps, and the looks from the students in the room when the woman had flipped that cauldron right over that boy's head. She thought it would have happened to one of them. But, they still had plenty of time before class was over.
She was POSITIVE that there would be another sock drawn on her parchment before the end.
Heaving a sigh, Destiny, with her gloves still on, she was too busy looking around the room to bother taking them off, picked up her three Billywig Stingers and dropped them into her cauldron. She remembered when they learned about those stingers in Care of Magical Creatures. And how could she forget how Professor Lawson had volunteered to be stung? He was laughing like a GIRL!
Steps Taken
- Drew a sock.
- Cleaned my cauldron.
- Filled cauldron with itching powder water using 'Aguamenti'.
- Used 'Incendio' to light..my fire. - Feared for my life.
- Added two cups Elf-made wine vinegar to cauldron.
- Drew two more socks. One more, I'll have TWO pairs!
- Put on gloves.
- Took three Dransuls leaf.
- Placed leaf in mortar. - Pfft'd Professor Bentley.
- Ferociously Crushed leaf like it was Professor Bentley until all the acid was released.
- Added three drops of the acid.
- Stirred potion three times counterclockwise. - Was disappointed when no cauldrons were flipped.
- Added three Billywig Stingers to cauldron. - Reminisced.

Devomotion Potion
1. Clean the cauldron.
2. Fill cauldron with water and heat over low flame.
3. Measure out 2 cups of Elf-made wine vinegar.
4. Leave enough for the people after you.
5. Pour the wine vinegar in slowly.
6. Crush 3 leaves from Dransul Plant until Acid comes out.
7. Add 3 drops of the acid to potion.
8. Stir 3 times counter-clockwise.
9. Drop 3 Billywig stingers into the moving liquid.
