Hecate seemed in somewhat a better mood. She had a few bags on one side of the room and she was looking at an old photograph. A very young Hecate Lafay in emerald and silver, on a broom wielding a beaters bat and a handsome young man, on a broom beside her guarding the goal hoops. She was twirling the bat above her head, cheering, and the boy was pumping his fist in the air.
It was her first championship win. Third Year.
She tucked the photo in her desk, opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

Penny reached the cupboard with her measuring jug and filled cups of the Elf-made wine vinegar... She returned to her space and added it to her cauldron and waited for further instructions from Professor Lafay.

Selina could feel her hands shaking. Lafay was getting right into the potion today and with her water on boil things were bound to start getting added in. This was awful. No this was worse than awful, this was rubbish. But she kept mulling it over in her head. After her fifth year she did not have to take this class anymore and endanger anyone's life with her proness to blowing things up.
So she got up from her seat with shaky legs and looked to Gideon for support. A smile or something would make it a lot easier to keep moving forward. But none-the-less she moved across the room to the cupboard and got the ingredient the like the rest of her class. Once she had it she returned to her seat and poured in the two cups of the liquid. Nothing was blowing up... yet.
Jesifur got out her collapsible measure cup and lifted the rim to just above the two cup line, so as not to spill any as she carried it back to her work station. She cast a cleaning spell on it also. She walked over to the barrel and carefully filled the measure to the two cup line. Extra carefully she walked back to the station and slowly poured it into the cauldron. She patiently waited for the next instruction.
"I haven't assigned the detention yet, and I wouldn't be so eager. I may just throw you in a room and leave you there for a week with a blast ended skrewt." She said glaring.
Daisy swallowed nervously as Lafay spoke to Rose. She was going to be in that detention. Why did Rose seem so keen to do it? Blast ended skrewts sounded quite scary, after reading about what they were like,Shr was kinda scared. She knew Lafay wouldn't do that; not because she wasn't that mean, but that the school probably wouldn't allow it, but she didn't exactly expect a nice detention from the teacher. Lafay was evil. Pure evil, and it was probably her idea of fun watching Daisy and Rose doing something disgusting or horrible....

Hecate flipped the cauldrons over for everyone who hadn't cleaned their cauldron. "I do not care if you looked to see if your cauldron was cleaned, you MUST clean it right before you do anything with it. If there is a speck of dust, that isn't visible to the naked eye, you can compromise your whole potion." She said angrily. "Now clean up your area, scourgify your cauldrons, repeat the five C's of potion making and then start over!"
That ruined her mood.
"Next step will be to add two cups of Elf-made wine vinegar." She said and motioned to the door of the potions cupboard. "There is a barrel in there with enough for the whole class." She took the vinegar, burgundy in color and poured it slowly in with the water.
Whaaa?
August's jaw dropped as the Professor flipped his cauldren of hot water over all over the work station, close to landing on him. She almost burned him!!! A scowl formed on his face as she said they didn't clean their cauldrens and they needed to start over, AFTER cleaning up HER mess.
"You didn't clean your cauldren Professor..." the Gryffindor mumbled bitterly, in what he thought was a quiet tone, as he used a towel to sop up the water all over the table. How dare she? His hatred of Potions had just set in another peg.
Now that his cauldren was empty he performed the cleaning spell with a wave of his wand, "Scorgify." and then recited the 5 C's of potion making, after re-reading them from his notes. "Cleanliness, Content, Concentration, Care, and Color." Such a stupid rule. Then he redid the water spell filling his cauldren to the amount it was before, and setting the flame alight once more.
Now onto the next step, Elf Wine vinegar...HE DIDN'T HAVE TO GET THIS FROM AN ELF DID HE?!?! His face drained of color but then she said it was int he Potions storeroom. Whew. August got his share and then added the two cups of the deep colored liquid slowly to his water.

As he waited for the next instructions, Daichi saw the Professor in the corner of his eye walking towards him. Thinking that she would pass his cauldron to scold on the students who hadn't cleaned their cauldrons, he slightly jumped when she started to whisper to him. The Slytherin listened to her words and...actually they sound nice. In a way... It was to help him right? sorta? He nodded his head in understanding. It did make sense to visualize it first in your mind. Didn't professor Desc...Disco tell him that last year? "Thanks for the tip, Professor" He whispered back.
Seeing Lafay standing up straight again, Daichi looked towards the direction she was glaring at. He wasn't the type of person to ask for help immediately. He wanted to try it himself first and if it REALLY didn't work he would ask for help. "....ok" was the only thing he could say and looked back at his cauldron.
The next step was easy! No wand waving but simply filling a cup with Elf made wine vinegar. Daichi grabbed two of his cups and walked towards the cupboard to fill them. Walking back to his cauldron, he slowly poured the cups in it.

Alyssa was glad that she had remembered to clean her cauldron. She definitely didn't want to have to repeat the first steps all over again, and then play catch up. She quickly wrote down the next steps of making the potion and the ingredients needed.
Text Cut: Alyssa's journal
Ingredients:
Water
2 cups Elf-made wine vinegar
Steps:
1. First put water into the cauldron using Aguamenti spell.
2. Light fire under cauldron. Keep heat on low.
3. Pour wine vinegar slowly into the cauldron
Alyssa got up off her seat and went over to the potion cupboard. Taking out her measuring jug, she scooped up two cups of the Elf-made wine vinegar and slowly walked back to her work table, making sure that she didn't spill any along the way. Once she reached her desk, she slowly poured the wine vinegar into her cauldron. She turned to see whether Penny had already completed her task and smiled when she saw that she had. Alyssa sat back to wait for further instructions
She called up the bags in the corner. "Wizard cameras capture the few seconds leading to the moment the picture is taken, and the few seconds after... only the devomotion potion can put that on photo paper. Now..." she said casting an aguamenti in her cauldron, and then lit a fire under it. "Start with water on a low flame."
Louisa was staring at the professor in this awed kind of gaze. They were going to learn how to make magical photos? The idea was getting absorbed in her oh-so-mischievious mind. She could do that to one of Mrs. Brown's photo and send the lady one ticket to mental hospital! Heh.
Oh. Right. Classroom.
Louisa scourgified her cauldron. "Aguamenti!" There were like three drops of water in the pot. She stared down, amazed at how pathetic that was, tried to hide it in case someone saw her and tried again, "Aguamenti!" It worked perfectly this time. Good. She didn't have to bully a younger student and steal their water. Heh.
Now came the easier spell, "Incendio." Softly said and a small flame popped under the cauldron.
Done!

Louisa made her way toward the barrel, an empty cup in hand. She waited in the messy line of students, daydreaming about that day of her fifteenth birthday. Joao's kiss. Her heart pounding hard-
...someone pushed her forward and it was her turn. Ahem. Right. Wine. She scooped a cup, back to her cauldron to pour it on the water. Now wait for another instruction and back to daydreaming about Joao and that fantastic perfect day of theirs... except the part when he told her about that monstrous Carter who beat him up like a boxing bag. She was not going to keep that pretty face of the boy on, he was so getting a piece of her mind if she saw him. And if that girl of his that made him lose the dueling was around then Merlin would be on Louisa's side. HEH.
Kennedy didn't say anything. Nor did he react to the professor's remarks. He was much too used to them that they had completely no effect on him. Five years of that did that to a person. He positioned his cauldron correctly and said, "Scourgify." That had to do the trick. He then looked up and met the professor's eyes and said, "The five C's are: Cleanliness, color, content, concentration, and care." There.
After that, he pointed his wand at his cauldron and re-filled it with water with a simple Aquamenti, then casted Incendio under it. He was back up to speed. Following Professor Lafay's next instruction, Kennedy stood up to retrieve the ingredient from the cupboard. Then added the two cups of elf made vinegar into his water.

Of course, Potions was no class to sleep through or to try half-sleeping pretending to be awake and listening. The Gryffindor boy remembered that immediately the moment Lafay told them to start. No one was going to fill his cauldron while he was sleeping plus potion brewing needed concentration, one of the famous five C's. Otherwise, brewing asleep, meant risking to waste Lafay's ingredients and for some reason Josh felt like Lafay would use his bits as ingredients for next class' potion, if he happened to waste them again.
So, after letting out another yawn, he lifted his head and rubbed his eyes. Okay...needed to be awake now. And when he believed that he was awake enough, he unholstered his wand and pointed it at the cauldron ''Scourgify.'' inside it and outside it. ''Scourgify.''
It was clean, right? It was the next step then. ''Aguamenti'' he said watching the thin line of water VERY slowly fill the cauldron. Why on earth he was still having problem with this water producing spell was a mystery to him. Sighing and glaring at the weak line of water, it felt like forever to wait for the cauldron to be full. Once the amount of water was finally enough, Josh murmured an ''Incendio.'' to start the fire under it. Lafay said low. So he was keeping it low...for the time being.
Elf made wine vinegar? So winegar? Hahaha..alright that was stupid. Apparently he was not fully awake yet. Walking to the ingredients cupboard/shelves lazily Josh picked up two cups and filled them with the said vinegar. He was feeling to lazy to pour one cup and get back for the second so yes, he was keeping two cups at once. Yet on the way he could not help but stare at Louisa the girlfriend of the coward snake boy he had beaten up.
Seriously?
Though the girl was no relative of him as far as he knew, Josh did not want to see a Carter date the likes of that Joao boy, which meant he had to talk to this girl asap. Sending a nod and smirk at the Ravenclaw girl's direction, he walked to his cauldron and poured the two cups of vinegar in his hands at once.
Woo...go go vinegar.

As Professor Lafay went around and upended all the cauldrons that b elonged to the students who hadn't Scourgfied them before adding the water, Stella's eyes widened slightly and she scooted over in her seat so as to avoid getting splashed by any of the hot water. She wasn't about to cast Impervious on herself, not when it seemed the professor was back to her bad mood. Avoiding notice was the best move currently, and the easiest way of accomplishing that was to only do as the professor said (minus the little detail that she hadn't explicitly said to clean their cauldrons. That was assumed).
Right now, though, it seemed they were moving on, and she took her measuring cup out as they were instructed to retrieve the vinegar. "Scourgify," she cast quietly, making sure the measuring cup was spotless before even getting up to go over to the cupboard. Plus, that let the line go down a bit, which helped her be able to get her vinegar quicker, and that way the cup wouldn't get contaminated while she waited either. I'm not letting Professor Lafay think I missed anything, she thought as she carefully measured out two cups of the burgundy vinegar, then headed back to her station to add it to the water in her cauldron. Afterward, she gathered her Potions tools, and made sure everything was clean again. Especially the measuring cup. No stone left unturned.

Kourtney cringed as the professor flipped over the cauldrons of those people who didn't clean them. They definitely wouldn't forgot that next time. Removing her wand, she cast the cleaning spell on her measuring cup. It was looking a little dusty, after all.
She made a note on the next ingredient and then rose from the seat to follow the rest of the class to the cupboard. When it was her turn, she gathered the required amount of wine vinegar and returned to her seat, carefully balancing the cup so as not to spill anything.
Once she had settled herself back into her seat, she carefully poured the two cups into the cauldron, ensuring that nothing splashed or spilled.

Sky's jaw dropped as Professor Lafay tipped her cauldron over and her to clean it up. Really?! But Sky kept her mouth shut, grabbed the towel she brought with her (just in case) and cleaned up the spilled water. Then, she cast "Scourgify!" on her cauldron, a little louder than normal due to her irritation. And here we go again. She cast "Aguamenti!" fill her cauldron with water, "Incendio!" for a low flame. Oh yeah, and she was supposed to repeat the five C's of potions making. "The five C's of potions making are: cleanliness, concentration, content, care, and color," she said, in a flat voice.
Once all that was done again, Sky walked over to the barrel containing the elf-made wine vinegar. She grabbed two cups and filled them both. She took them back to her cauldron and added them to her potion.

Exactly. She hadn't said anything about non-magical film so Kurumi was asking for clarification. She was paying attention! Kurumi furrowed her brow and leaned her elbows on the table, pretending to be examining her flame.
In the next instant, cauldrons had been turned over and Kurumi was brought back to her first term at Hogwarts. Had the mood in the classroom gone tense? Or was it just her?

Sighing as it seemed like Rose was once again on a quest for attention, Kurumi was glad that Professor Lafay had moved the lesson along. After cleaning here measuring cup, Kurumi walked over to the cupboard and scooped up her elf-made wine vinegar. Kurumi never liked the smell of vinegar. It reminded her of cold days in winter when her mother made her walk around the house with a spray bottle of it to use around the window frames to remove any black mold that had decided to make a home there.
Pushing these thoughts to the side, Kurumi returned to her cauldron and poured it in, making sure not to jump dump it all at once. Once this step was done, Kurumi added to her notes.

Elf-made wine vinegar? Ooohh... Interesting.
Katrina went to the cupboard with... something they used to measure. Ok, there's a lot of people crowding in there. More waiting!
As soon as only a few students were left, the first year went and measured the vinegar. And it smells like Muggle vinegar. She tried not to let any of the vinegar spill so she walked surely and carefully.
When Katrina arrived at her workstation, she poured two cups of it into her cauldron and waited for any further instructions. While waiting, she scribbled on her parchment.

Gideon tried not to wince as Lafay dumped over the cauldrons of several of the students in the class, the clatter of the cauldrons and the fizzle of the water over the hot flames causing enough of a racket. He focused on the task at hand as Professor Lafay moved on to the first ingrediant as there was no point to dwell and be thought of as distracted.

Getting up from his work station, he moved to the cupboard and to the barrell where the vinegar was. As he awaited his turn, he caught Selina's look and offered a discrete, reassuring smile. He knew how hateful and worried about the class and the fourth year wished there was some way he could help her feel more relaxed about things. Turning away, he measured out the 2 cups he needed and carefully moved back to his work space, gingerly pouring in the vinegar into his heated cauldron.
So far so good...and it looked as if Selina as good as well.

Hearing the professor give further instruction, Marilyn moved back to her cauldron. The next ingredient was not something she had in her personal collection...and it was affirmed that Lafay had some in stock for their use. Which was good...because it wasn't a common ingredient.
Moving to the Potions Closet, she spied the barrel that had been mentioned. Snatching a beaker (scourgify!), Marilyn took out the required two cups. Moving back to her work station...watching carefully as the professor demonstrate. She carefully mimicked the motion of pouring the dark liquid in slowly.
Not being instructed to stir or do anything else at that time, she grabbed her notebook and updated her progress.

Blink. Blink.
Vashti was taken aback when her cauldron was suddenly flipped over because she "hadn't cleaned her cauldron." But...But she thought she had? Like, twice, right before she'd cast the Aguamenti spell... Was she losing her mind? Maybe so. Maybe those OWLs did more to her brain than she'd thought.
Not really wanting to argue with Professor Lafay, especially when she obviously wasn't in a good mood now, Vashti simply cleaned up the water that covered her table and dripped onto the floor then took a deep breath and pointed her wand at her cauldron. Scourgify. Scourgify. Scourgify. There. She did it three times this time, just to make sure it was clean and to make sure she'd done it. Then she quickly recited the five C's. "The Five C's of Potion Making are cleanliness, color, concentration, content, and care." Right? Yes? Her brain wasn't completely useless, right?
So now, the first step again. She cast Aguamenti and let her cauldron fill with water. Then she used Incendio to start the flame beneath her cauldron, making sure that it was a low flame. That was correct, right? She stared down at her notes just to make sure, trying to memorize them. Assuming her brain was capable of that.

Vashti immediately wrote these steps down in her notes, just in case she forgot them by the time she actually went to retrieve the elf-made wine vinegar. She went over to the barrel and carefully measured out the two cups of the wine vinegar before returned to her station, double checking her notes just to make sure she was still doing it correctly. Then she carefully and slowly poured the two cups into her cauldron.
So far, so good?

Marie tried to hide her smirk as she watched Lafay turning over cauldrons of those that forgot to clean them. Some day they will learn that it doesn't pay to cut corners in this class.
Oh crap, they had to add two cups of a liquid?
Looking in her cauldron she tried figuring out if she put too much water in it. There was really only one way to find out... get the wine vinegar and see if it would fit.
Grabbing her measuring cup she cleaned it then followed the other students to the potions cupboard where she measured out exactly two cups of the nasty smelling vinegar stuff.
Merlin! She was glad she wasn't going to have to drink this potion.
Back at her work station she carefully poured the liquid into her cauldron. Phew! It fit, and there was still room to add other ingredients.
After cleaning her measuring cup... again, all she had to do was update her journal and wait for more instructions.

She touched the drawer in which her most precious photo was stored and continued. “Today we are going to be brewing the potion you will run wizard film through to make the pictures move. Does anyone know how developing pictures is done?” She asked.
"I think developing pictures is in a dark room that is red and the film goes threw chemicals and water." Angelina told Professor.
Quote:
Most of the class had it right.
"Yes, to make it simple... muggles process the negatives through some chemicals, then enlarge them onto photographic paper, then pass it through more chemical and then pass it through water. They then hang them until they are dry. And they do all this in a room void of all light, but a red one." She said and dimmed the lights, creating a red hue.
"There are two ways of making a wizard photo, taking a muggle one and animating it with a charm or, using the devomotion potion to pull the actual animation onto the picture." She walked to the front of her desk and sat on it. "When you take a muggle picture the negative captures the exactly split second you take it. So animating it with a charm will only make it do what you want it to, not what actually had happened at the time the picture was taken."
Angelina pulled her wand out and said, "Scourgify!" To clean her cauldron. Once it was clean she then said, "Aqumenti." water then came into the cauldron. "Incendio," Angelina said and the cauldron started at a low flame.

"I haven't assigned the detention yet, and I wouldn't be so eager. I may just throw you in a room and leave you there for a week with a blast ended skrewt." She said glaring.
"Next step will be to add two cups of Elf-made wine vinegar." She said and motioned to the door of the potions cupboard. "There is a barrel in there with enough for the whole class." She took the vinegar, burgundy in color and poured it slowly in with the water.
Angelina grabbed to cups of Elf-made wine vinegar from the barrel. and added it to her cauldron.

Sierra followed Lafay's gesture toward the potions cupboard then turned back just in time to watch the professor complete the procedure herself. When she'd taken note of exactly how it was done, she rose from her chair, grabbed her measuring cup, and followed the rest of the class toward the cupboard.
She measured out two cups of the liquid then made her way back to her cauldron. Once there, she tipped the cup into the cauldron and watched as the burgundy liquid mixed with the water.

Cass held back jump from surprise when a number of cauldrons had been turned over because they didn't observe the C's of potion making. Thank Merlin she had that ingrained in her during first year, right after her own cauldron being tipped over too.
but that was a different story, one she didn't like revisiting often.
Then she snapped back in attention when Professor Lafay started giving the next set of instructions...Right elf-made wine vinegar thing...She glanced down on her messy notes and scribbled it down, making another mental note to sort it out afterwards, she seriously couldn't see! Maybe she needed glasses now? Everybody seems to be having no trouble in writing their notes down in their usual organized manner.
Then she followed her other classmates and went over to the barrel with the elf-made wine thing, and took two cups from it, just as instructed. She walked back to her table carefully and breathed out a sigh of relief when she made it without spilling a single drop. Then she glanced up at Lafay and copied how she poured down the vinegar into her own potion. Slowly and carefully.
