Hecate seemed in somewhat a better mood. She had a few bags on one side of the room and she was looking at an old photograph. A very young Hecate Lafay in emerald and silver, on a broom wielding a beaters bat and a handsome young man, on a broom beside her guarding the goal hoops. She was twirling the bat above her head, cheering, and the boy was pumping his fist in the air.
It was her first championship win. Third Year.
She tucked the photo in her desk, opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
"Yes, to make it simple... muggles process the negatives through some chemicals, then enlarge them onto photographic paper, then pass it through more chemical and then pass it through water. They then hang them until they are dry. And they do all this in a room void of all light, but a red one." She said and dimmed the lights, creating a red hue.
"There are two ways of making a wizard photo, taking a muggle one and animating it with a charm or, using the devomotion potion to pull the actual animation onto the picture." She walked to the front of her desk and sat on it. "When you take a muggle picture the negative captures the exactly split second you take it. So animating it with a charm will only make it do what you want it to, not what actually had happened at the time the picture was taken."
She called up the bags in the corner. "Wizard cameras capture the few seconds leading to the moment the picture is taken, and the few seconds after... only the devomotion potion can put that on photo paper. Now..." she said casting an aguamenti in her cauldron, and then lit a fire under it. "Start with water on a low flame."
William took his wand, pointed at his Caulderon and used this spell " Scourgify" to clean his Cauldron. Then he pointed the wand inside of the Caulderon with this spell " Augumenti " snd it filled with water. Lastly, William took his wand again and said " Incendio". but no flame. William used the spell more intently and more concetration this time as he pointed his wand at the Caulderon calling out " Incendio" . Willaim has flame.
Mia quickly cleaned her cauldron as the class was starting to get good.
"Scorgify" she pointed cleaning out every ounce of grime possibly left in the cauldorn. "Aquamenti" and it filled with water - now low falme. She concentrated on a low flame as she cast "Incendio" the flame was just low enough that it wasn't too strong and she was ready. Ready to make an amazing photo come to life and to make an amazing potion.

What..? Professor Lafay seemed in such a good mood today! That was... weird. Aurora took out her wand and scourgified her work area and cauldron. She then moved closer to the cauldron and pointed her wand inside "Aguamenti." A stream of water poured into her cauldron... when there was enough she pointed her wand underneath and muttered "Incendio. and a small fire lit up and began to heat the cauldron.

Stella honestly hadn't had any idea how photographs were developed, what with the fact she hadn't exactly spent a lot of time dealing with things like that when back in France. Risa would probably have looked at her cross-eyed if she'd suggested they learn photgraphy to the point of developing their own photos, when it was just as easy to send them off to others, and her parents just never really had questioned the idea. If it wasn't painting, her mother didn't really worry about it, and her father was usually at work. So she'd spent the first part of the lesson taking notes, outside of her potions journal so she'd keep that fairly clean of scribbles, and had looked up as soon as it seemed they were starting to brew.
At least her theory that this lesson wasn't going to be as evil as the last had been accurate. Wizard photography wasn't likely to make anyone hate her, to her knowledge. As long as she followed every step like she had the last lesson. She wasn't about to not do that. Making sure her cauldron was secure in its spot, she took her wand out and carefully cast Scourgify. That was always the first step, she was learning, even if Professor Lafay hadn't done so. Then she spoke again. "Aguamenti." Filling her cauldron, she leaned over to point her wand underneath once that was finished and she'd completed that charm. "Incendio," she then cast, making sure she pulled away before the flame got too high. Time for her journal anyhow.

Devomotion Potion- making photos animated
Ingredients:
1. Water
Procedure:
1. Add water to cauldron.
2. Heat on a low flame.
Orr scorgify'ed her cauldron just to make sure that it was clean before saying "Aguamenti" letting water flow out her wand into the cauldron. After making sure that it was at the right height she stopped the charm and immediately aimed her wand under the cauldron muttering, "Incendio" to light a small flame in order to heat up the water.
"Yes, to make it simple... muggles process the negatives through some chemicals, then enlarge them onto photographic paper, then pass it through more chemical and then pass it through water. Luna put on her gloves and goggles ''Scourgify,''
She looked inside to make sure it wasn't dirty ''Agumenti,'' she whispered ''Incendio,'' then she turned to the proffeser

Reason: spelling misstake!
Nikolas wrote down a few stuff of how photos were developed and the process of the devomotion potion they were going to do today.
So, he took out his wand and the first thing he must do, or else Lafay wouldn't be very happy, was to clean his cauldron "Scourgify" Good. Now, water and fire. He pointed his wand inside his cauldron and said "Aguamenti" and there was the water and then lit the fire underneath the cauldron "Incendio" a small flame appeared.

Oooh. Time to get brewing. Indiana liked this bit the best. Sure she was a bit scared of Lafay more like a lot scared really but she really did enjoy potions. It was fun, when she did it right anyway, but that was why she was going to try and practice as much as she could over her seven years, so that she would hopefully get pretty competant at brewing. But first she needed to clean her cauldron, because she was pretty sure it needed to be clean. She was sure it wouldn't be a very good potion if it was dirty now would it. "Scourgify" She spoke, as she pointed her wand at the inside of her cauldron. Within a few second she was content that it was clean enough, and so she moved onto the next step.
Which was to fill the cauldron with water. Well that was easy enough. She knew she could do that spell, practice really did make perfect. "Aguamenti" She spoke again, as she again pointed her wand in the cauldron. Water sprouted out of her wand, and into the cauldron. When it was at the appopriate level, she stopped the spell. Okay. One more step to go. Get a flame underneath the cauldron. Okay, Indy knew that spell too. Perfect. "Incendio" She spoke, and a small flame appeared. Perfect. Indy felt quite proud of herself. Woot.

Finally they're getting practical. After withdrawing the hornbeam wand from her robe, Aiden points the rather long wand into her pewter cauldron and concentrates while muttering an incantation. "Scourgify!" The dust covering the internal wall of the cauldron disappeared into thin air. With her wand still pointed into the cauldron, Aiden musters all her concentration to conjure the fountain of water from the tip of her wand. She knows this won't be easy. This charm, after all, is taught to sixth years, N.E.W.T level. Therefore, if she is capable of conjuring it, that means she'd be a great witch. "Aguamenti!" Nothing happened. The second year stares at the pewter cauldron for a split second before making another attempt. "Aguamenti!" This time, her voice is louder and clearer. Her focus isn't distrupted at all. Aiden makes another failed attempts before she decides to make one, last attempt before she gives up.
Focus... Speak the incantation loudly and clearly... "Aguamenti," she says almost screaming. A jet of clear water precipitates from the tip of her wand into the pewter cauldron. A smirk spreads across the pale lips as she points her wand underneath the cauldron. "Incendio!" This charm is not difficult to cast. To be honest, Aiden thinks she is quite good at it; setting things alight.
Oh, she didn't know that! Hmm, she thought the photographs just came out of the camera all magical and yeah...hehe. She felt rather stupid, of course even moving pictures needed to be developed too. Then she looked up in surprise when the lights dimmed, giving the room a red hue, very mysterious...and very hard to see in. Meh.
She squinted hard as she tried to scribble down on her notebook everything that she needed to remember, and most likely forget by the end of the lesson, and to her dismay, her words kept on overlapping one another. She'll just sort it out afterwards.
Ok, time to brew the potion. Cass then pointed her wand into the cauldron and whispered "Scourgify" , then she peered into the cauldron, practically inserting her head in, trying to examine it for damages, when she was satisfied, she set the cauldron back down, cast Aguamenti on it - with difficulty, then cast incedio, conjuring a small flame under the cauldron.
Then she leaned back and waited for further instructions.

Quiet as she was, Heather was rather ecstatic for this lesson. She was grinning madly! Of course she knew some of these stuff...anything with the word 'photography' on it would most likely make her very, very happy indeed.
And today's lesson had photography written all over it.
Happily, she looked over at her cauldron. "Scourgify!" just to clean it off and peered inside once more (she had to tip toe for a bit just to look inside). Clean, very clean indeed. She nodded cheerfully and cast another spell. "Aguamenti!" water was now inside the cauldron and another flick from her wand, cast incendio at the bottom of the cauldron to where flames danced, warming up the cauldron's content. She looked up eagerly for next instructions from the professor.
Now that was weird...Heather had multiple difficulties casting spells, but today, not one single spell she casted (that was needed for the class) went wrong. Ah, she's too happy that she was easily able to focus on the task at hand. Now to see what's next...

Ok, more Potion-making. Katrina went into action. Oh Merlin, this cauldron is... untidy.
Katrina took her wand out and murmured "Scourgify,"
POOF! The cauldron was clean and spotless.
The first year looked at the Potions Mistress and followed her.
"Aguamenti" and then the cauldron had water inside it. She then heated the cauldron in a low fire and waited for further instructions.

Oh. So that charm is the thing that makes the pictures in the Daily Prophet move. Lies.
She scourgified her cauldron, produced some water from the tip of her wand.
"Incendio!" She said while pointing her wand at the bottom of the cauldron.

Nessie sat up a bit straiter and got her cauldron ready. She cleaned it thouroughly before casting her spell.
"Igamenti!" As the water filled she found herself starting to daydream she soon shook out of it before her cauldron could spill over. She leaned down making sure her hair wasn't in direct line of fire she casted the second spell. "Incendio!" She chanted queitly. She sat back in her chair and her mind started to wander off to other things.

"Scourgify." then, she filled the cauldron with water. "Aguamenti." the cauldron now was fulled by water and she boiled the water with low flame.

Kurumi did as Professor Lafay instructed and made sure that her cauldron was nice and clean by casting Scourgify several times perhaps three times more than was really necessary and then twirled her wand in her fingers before following up with Aguamenti. After casting Incendio, Kurumi adjusted the burner so that the flame was nice and low. Now...to her parchment.

Potions Lesson II - Devomotion Potion Kurumi Hollingberry // Gryffindor // fourth year
Wizarding cameras have the ability to capture several seconds of a given moment on film and only this potion has the ability to animate those moments on photo paper.
Ingredients
water
Procedure
clean cauldron
fill with water
light fire - low
Upon finishing her notes, Kurumi tickled her nose with the feather end of her quill, her mind once again over thinking a few things. "Professor Lafay," she said as her hand slowly raised. The woman seemed to be in a pleasant mood, so an innocent question couldn't hurt anything, right? Hopefully. "You mentioned that wizarding cameras are able to capture several seconds of a moment on film. The photo developing solution I am familiar with also animates non-magical photographs taken with non-magical film. Does the one we are brewing today have different properties?" Or were they really just the same and non-magical film was able to capture a few seconds by their developing process had no ability to harness this?

Jory listened as Professor Lafay spoke. Yes, that's how its done. Jory had never actually seen how muggle photos were developed but he would like to someday.
Jory cleaned his cauldron with the cleaning charm then he cast the water charm. "Aguamenti," he said and water started falling into his cauldron. ""Incendio!" he said so that a low fire was under his cauldron.
Jory added the instructions so far to his parchment.

Then removed her wand and pointed it into her cauldron and muttered the incantation "Scourgify", she wanted her cauldron to be spotless before she started, then another "Aquamenti", then a thrid spell "Incendio", lighting a low fire under the cauldron with the water in it.

Minerva took out her wand and pointed it at the cauldron. "Scourgify" She said to clean her cauldron once the cauldron was clean Minerva pointed her wand again "Aqumenti" water came into the cauldron. She placed it in the exact location she needed and said "Incendio" but nothing happened. She looked around what could she have done wrong. Minerva pointed the wand again "Incendio" a low flame started under the cauldron. Minerva breathed easy that it worked the second time.
The second year took her wand out and pointed it at the cauldron. 'Scourgify!', she said loud and clear. The last thing I want to start over with the potion, Gwendolyn thought, while focusing on the next step she had to do. Riiight- add water. All right- I can do that, she decided. 'Aguamenti!', Gwen said and water began filling the cauldron. Great, the young Ravenclaw told herself and smirked. She really loved this class. And finally- ' Incendio!'. There... all done.

Daichi grabbed his cauldron and placed it in front of him before grabbing his wand and pointed it at the cauldron. "Scourgify!" he said and watched the cauldron as it got cleaner. Next step Next step...he looked around and saw a Gryffindor using the next spell. Oh right the water spell!
He pointed his wand in the cauldron "Aguamenti!" he yelled but nothing happened. Again. He sighed as he knew it was going wrong eventually but he didn't give up. "Aguamenti!" This time a weak flow of water filled the cauldron but it wasn't strong enough to fill it. "Aguamenti!!" Daichi shouted , alot more clearer and he focused his attention to the spell. The cauldron filled with rapid water and he couldn't help but smile proudly.
The Slytherin then pointed his wand at the bottom of the cauldron and tried to light it up with the "Incendio!" spell. Nothing. "Incendio!" he shook his wand a bit and a spark erupted from it but it seemed to be big enough as the bottom of the cauldron started to heat up in flames. He looked at it and quickly turned it on low.

Step 2:
Erin beamed as Professor Lafay said that most of the answers are correct, and gotten even more happy when the professor explained the right answer. Erin definitely gotten it right one. Listening at the professor's words intently, Erin took hold of her cauldron and touch the insides of it with her forefinger. It was not clean.
"Scourgify," Erin said sharply to clean her cauldron. She wouldn't want any floating objects affecting her potion later. Repeating the brewing all over again because of slight mistakes was disappointing. Sighing, Erin uttered, "Aguamenti!" And water filled her pewter cauldron the right amount needed. Next would be a flame, and it should be in a low level. Erin casted the spell, "Incendio" as the low flame appeared under her cauldron.
