A surly looking Mr. Stryker is seated on a bench. As you enter the gazebo, he'll motion for you to take a seat on either a pillow, beanbag, or good ol' concrete. Your choice.
Please, come in! The lesson will begin shortly (OOC: 4pm EST, 9pm GMT (I think...) tomorrow), so feel free to talk amongst yourselves.

This whole dancing scenario was going quite well. Seren was stepping back and forth and side to side in time with Chad, not looking at their feet but simply following directions. She smiled. This wasn't so bad... she could dance! she was dancing!
But then she couldn't help but overhear a familiar voice say her name. Was that Lockhart?!
Temporarily unfocused, Seren turned her head to see if she was right. In her haste she somehow managed to knock her knee into Chad's leg and step on his foot... whoops. "I'm so sorry!" she gaspd with surprise.
Turning back to Lockhart she shook her head at him. "Now look what you made me do." Yes Treyen Lockhart it is all your fault. "And whats this about me knowing how to dance? If I knew then I wouldn't be here."
No... she needed these lessons. Otherwise she wouldn't be here. End of story.
Whatever, he didn't care much for the ending of that sentence. He cared more for the ending of the other one, and he smiled once she was done talking. "I should be almost fluent in it, actually," but he wasn't, his cousins had learned English, so, he knew only the basic stuff in French. But what he knew, he knew well.
If she wanted to...they could try and expand her French vocabulary, though. Even expand his while they're at it, BUT...he didn't have that much interest in learning French. Now...Italian, that was something he wanted to learn.
His eyebrow was raised as she pouted. But he laughed wholeheartedly as she decided to let him fell taller (or be taller) for at least ONE dance. "I'm still taller," TRUE. Smirk.
BY AN INCH!
He shouldn't be too proud of that. But he truly wasn't. He never cared for heights before, yet being eye-leveled with Ellie was all he'd been wanting for a while.
Er, what?! 'Communicate where you wish to go'? What did Stryker even mean with that? If they were meant to be talking...the subject of conversation shouldn't be 'You go left and I go right' or something similar. He frowned upon Stryker. FROWNED, in confusion. So, they were going to waltz? Yeah, he knew how.
He was completely aware of the blue eyes on him, that only made him want not to be in this particular place but maybe somewhere along the grounds...except...weren't they on the grounds?
Ellie was kidding, right? "Always, if you let me," he said, smirking only a bit.
Treyen still nodded and...started to do as told by Stryker, or what he supposed Stryker had said, the Hufflepuff Prefect was only moving, swaying or whatever it was he did when waltzing, according to what he'd been taught before.
"Do you think Bentley is teaching him to dance, though?" he said TO ELLIE, meaning that Chad wouldn't be able to hear, maybe Bentley, but not Chad. Truthfully, Bentley seemed more at ease than he did.
Seriously? He should be ALMOST fluent? As in he was close to being fluent already? How was she unaware he spoke an entirely different language? "You speak French?" Wow. That was... You would think something like that would have come up in conversation before, right?
No, apparently not.
Yes, Treyen was still taller. "But for how long?" If only you could plan when you grew. Because, while she just said that, she had no idea if she'd get any taller. And even then, if it would be enough to pass him. "Being shorter than you is not all that bad, though." She supposed. She kind of liked it at times, even.
Hehe. "You are the monsieur." Therefore, she would let him lead. Unless roles were ever switched for some odd, abnormal reason. And lookit, she spoke more French to him. Heh.
Bentley...Ellie HAD to tear her eyes from the Prefect to see what he was talking about. Stryker did seem a lot more stiff than Bentley did. Ellie opened her mouth to answer but...

Ellie kept herself from laughing too hard, but couldn't help giggling just a teeny tiny lot. "...I don't think so. Not after that."
And then Bentley was talking to him. And the Ravenclaw laughed more. "Gosh, Treyen!" she sarcastically reprimanded, nudging his arm a bit.
That was boring, though. She wouldn't come just for fun? As long as it wasn't conflicting with the feeding times of her precious, perilous plants?

She shook her head once. "You put your left arm on my right arm, instead of the shoulder blade. Only the male partner is supposed to do that."
She waited for Indy to correct the position and then looked towards Mr. Stryker. Oh YAY! They were going to be dancing now!
"Okay...so, if I move one of my legs forward, you move the leg directly across from it backwards. So...I move my right leg forward towards you...you move your left leg..which is directly across from my right leg...backwards." She moved her leg in demonstration. "And same thing if I move my left leg forward, then you move your right leg backwards." She explained patiently.
"We can look silly together." Indiana giggled, smiling at her best friend. Kourt was her best friend. She was. hehe. "Yes....no icky boys." Indy giggled, hoping that no boys were listening to them. Well boys were icky anyway, so that didn't change anything really. "Not yet anyway..." Indy smirked at her friend. They were totally going to be the best girl dancing couple.
"Oh...haha. my bad." Indiana giggled as she placed her hand in the correct positon on Kourt's right arm. She nodded as her friend explained to her. She kind of got it. Hmm. "Can...you explain again?" Indiana asked, kind not getting it the idea the first time round.

Ryden stared at Orlando as he deftly moved into position, holding her back and her hand like it was his second nature. It was... kind of nice, seeing him so in control like that. The blonde smiled inwardly to herself, and nodded to him as he told her to trust him. Of course she did - more than he knew.
Plus, by now, she didn't have much of a choice. Her silly brain had decided it wanted to show up to this lesson - she'd brought this mess onto herself all on her own.
OH. He was moving. Ryden looked down as his right foot moved backwards and, as people seemed to be doing, stepped hers awkwardly forward. "Well, we're not dancing YET, Koala Boy," the fifth year stated as she looked up for further instructions. "Even I'm not as clumsy as to step on you when we're moving in slow motion," she said, tightening her grip on his hand as she wobbled. Standing like this was NOT easy, ok?
Hmpf.
Dancing was easy. And so far Ryden was doing perfect. If it was up to him - he would tell her to forget about technique and dance silly to her heart's content.
He only grinned when she said they weren't dancing yet. "But we are, Miss Di Marco," he said, carefully moving his foot so not to alarm her. ".. Just a bit slowly, but we are," he added, resisting the urge to ditch technique and make her dance until she was in fits of giggles.
Orlando would prefer if she would step on his toes and be silly and just like dancing. No need to make it a burden on herself, yep!

"Oh, wow, you're so cool," Lauren smiled warmly at Orchid. She meant it to. "If I ever come visit you you'll have to let me join in! And introduce me to this Brazilian guy," she joked with a wink. "Oh, of course! Anytime," Lauren offered "I know a few different types from all over the place, but we can start with something simple."
"Well, clearly we should both be fighting off menfolk with a stick," Lauren joked, her cheeks warming at Orchid's compliment. She was so not used to hearing nice things about her appearance, but that had changed substantially since she became friends with Orchid.
Lauren instantly stepped into dancing mode, focusing on the steps with practised ease, her hand resting gently on Orchid's arm. She live for this, movement, rhythm. It was one of the few contexts where she took things seriously. "I follow," she affirmed, with a brisk nod of her blonde haired head.
"You're doing well," Lauren complimented Orchid with a lopsided grin.
Orchid laughed at Lauren's complement. "Hardly, I'm actually a big nerd when it comes to muggle stuff, I'm really looking forward to Muggle Studies to see what everyone else's views on it are." She said blushing slightly. "Oh definetly! I think you would love hanging out with everyone, there's only about three or four girls though, so you'd have to get used to the guy stuff." She said with a simple shrug. "That would be amazing!" She almost squealed when she heard that Lauren would teach her. "I can't wait!"
"Oh, most definetly." She said with a laugh and a teasing wink.
"You really think so? I'm not used to dancing ballroom or anything like that. I mean I've danced with a partner like this for a cousin's wedding, but nothing serious." She said unsure of herself. "I'm way more comfortable dancing hip hop or something."

Maybelle thought. "Sands is more uptown, my Aunt wanted me to be in the best school, which she thought Sands was. Talking and dancing at the same time wasn't difficult for Matt since he was practically used to it by now, but trying not to be distracted.. well that was a whole other story. "Ah, yes I can see how she thought that. I think we might have played you guys in Quidditch a couple times, probably when I was still on the team." That was all he was going to talk about Quidditch, no one else needed to know why he didn't play anymore; that was something that only one other person knew about who was not from Los Angeles. "True, though LA is a big city. It's not like you can just stand in the street and try to play Where's Waldo.. or in this case Where's Luke? That would be nearly impossible. Though, quite amusing to try." It seemed as though an idea was starting to formulate slowly in his head as he listened to Maybelle speak, he would definitely have to write it down later so that he didn't forget since it was quite the interesting idea. When she brought up National Hug A Slytherin Day, he nearly lost concentration and started laughing, that was quite the interesting day to say the least. "How could I forget that honestly? Every year it just seems to be rather strange, it's like.. why are random people hugging me. I don't get it." Needless to say that day was considered by him to be odd and somewhat pointless.
He looked up briefly and grinned. "Yeah, just trying to keep up." And not mess up. Really, when did he become a perfectionist?
"A debu-what?" Balls had names...wait, there were different kinds of balls? Eh, something new he learned. He couldn't help, but chuckle at the face she made. "What's wrong with having a date?"
Kennedy pondered on her offer. Hm, going to a ball would be pretty epic...well the most epic thing he'd ever get to participate in. "Who are the Legend's?" he asked. He felt his feet begin to move with more ease, so he lifted his gaze to Harlow's.
This waltz thing wasn't so bad.
Harlow smiled, "Its easy once u get the hang of it. You're waltzing like you've done this before." she told him honestly.
She giggled, "A debutant ball is where all the ladies are introduced to society. Meaning they are women now and eligible for offers of marriage. Though no one gets married that young anymore. But thats traditionally what the ball was for." she explained. She would be a guest of honor at the ball in a few years. Harlow started to blush at his question, "Well because when you have dates you have to kiss and hold hands and stuff," she whispered to make sure no one could hear her but Kennedy.
Harlow waltzed them around the room again as they talked. This was really fun and it was relaxing, "Its a ball for all the people who have been awarded the order of merlin this year. My cousin Paris won this award this year so that's why we are going." she was excited to be going. One of her favorite Herbologist was going to be there and she was looking forward to getting an autograph.

Maybelle almost stopped. She played him in Quidditch?! Funny the things you don't remember when you fall off your broom. "Well, did you see the games, most of them I fell off my broom. I'm the beater." She smirked, proud of her position. "I suppose. Maybe I can introduce him to you later. Maybe meet at the lake or something?" She asked, smiling. "Well, when it's a nice day, or maybe the giant treehouse, I haven't been there yet." She said. "Me and my friend started it last year, and Nika became the Supreme Overlord of Slytherin Hugging. That's the title we gave out to whoever got the most hugs. I actually lost us points for hugging without permission during flying class." Maybelle said, smiling. "Might have to watch your back this year, i might hug you." She laughed.

Alyssa looked around her as all her friends danced with their partners. She felt like a wallflower. She had known all the answers to the questions Mr. Stryker had asked them, like she did have some dance experience, if dancing with her family counted, and that she liked the Latin Samba and the Viennese Waltz. She loved to dance because it made her happy. She was able to express herself better in dance than any other way. If she was angry her movements were more aggressive but at the same time, it helped to "burn off" the anger. As for the types of ballroom dancing there were so many but one example was the Minuet which was first introduced into ballroom dancing in 1650. She also knew the answer to the question "What is a waltz"
Actually there were different variations of the waltz depending on the culture. The waltz usually comprises of a couples who do not pass, but turn continuously left and right while travelling counterclockwise around the floor following each other. Their bodies are never apart.
"Yes", Alyssa thought to herself. She knew all the answers, but every time she was about to raise her hand to answer, others would do so and give their answer and the Professor would move on to the next and the next. And so she was not of going to be able to earn any points for her house which made her very sad.
Alyssa loved dancing and danced all the time with her dad and sometimes her brothers....when they were forced to dance with her. She even danced by herself just because she liked the feeling of dancing. Most of the time, when she danced, she would use her current emotions and express them in the dance she was dancing. Dancing relaxed her and helped removed stress. Dancing made her laugh when she was feeling sad. When she danced she felt like she was in her own world. Sometimes she didn't have music to accompany her and so she would hum a song when she danced. She loved the waltz because it was not only elegant but when people danced the waltz, it seemed to her like they just floated through the dance floor. She especially loved it when the played the Blue Danube by Johann Strauss. That was her favorite waltz tune. She had tried the swing a couple of times and found it invigorating. But now in this class, she felt alone. She didn't even have a partner to dance with.
Alyssa slowly moved to the back of the class trying to hide herself so that no one would notice that she was there. She would leave the class but she didn't want her house getting penalized for her rudeness.
Maybe she could volunteer to play the piano for the class seeing that she wouldn't be getting the opportunity to dance with a partner.

She felt her feet slip up slightly when Gideon plastered an amused smile on his face. It was only a momentary laps and she looked up at Gideon, he really liked to push her limits didn't he? Fine, if he wanted to play the smirk game challenge accepted. She threw a smirk right back at him and retorted, "Yeah, maybe that would be wise. You never know when I might strike..."
When he agreed with her comment about them making a good pair she, without even thinking about it or relaxing she did it, moved a little closer to him. "Well you know, I was going to dance with Kurumi, but I guess your a good second choice." This joke was lighter than any she had previously thrown out a him. In fact her tone was so soft it was as if she whispered it.
Gideon felt more then saw the slip up, doing his best not to show a reaction and trying to compensate for it. Thankfully it wasn't enough to through them both off balance, just meerly slow them up a little which was perfectly fine. No need to rush things when they werent even dancing to music. AND by the looks of things, their teacher was just as hesitant with his movements as the rest of them.
He might not have noticed her movement had first had he not registered the smaller angle he looked down to look into her face. It was then the older Gryfindor saw that Selina had moved closer to him, whether subconsciously or on purpose he couldn't be sure. "Well then....I'...I best be glad ye...decided on me," he managed to remark getting his voice back, catching her soft tone as they very nearly stopped.

Daisy stopped for a second, letting go of her partner. A girl, in her house and year was partnerless. She knew all the answers to the teachers questions, and looked as though she was itching to dance. Alyssa, yes, that was her name, moved towards the back of the class, looking as though she wanted to leave, but Daisy ran towards her.
'Are you partnerless?' she asked Alyssa, bounding in front of her as she made for the door. 'You can come in a three.' she smiled. 'With me, and Rose.' She was in a three until she found me. We'll be allowed' she smiled.

'Yeah!' Rose bounced. She grabbed Alyssa's hand and jigged her around, laughing. She put her arm through Daisy's and jigged them around as well. 'Wait, we're doing a waltz!' Rose giggled. She let go of both of them and pretended to waltz with a broom.
Borrow my partner? Louisa didn't know how to properly respond to this. 'I didn't have a choice' was a very good one but João was around so.. no need to be fussy. Instead the girl just nodded, fake smile still on.
...
...
Were they too close to each other? Louisa thought they were, anyway. She averted her gaze from them to spot the undesirable couple - make that second undesirable couple. They were happily dancing - well, starting to. Smiles, laughs and beaming faces. She was really growing unsettled by this. Too much for an entertaining class.

It wouldn't put him off meeting India again, alone, of course, but it was good to know at least someone was jealous.
"A few more minutes, then I think I should dance with Louisa," he whispered to India's ear so that only she could hear. "She looks bored." No, actually she looked jealous and uncomfortable, but India didn't need to know that. She could observe it by herself, if she wanted.
Left foot forward, right foot to the back. Should I turn her around?
India nodded a short swift nod when João brought up dancing with Louisa. She wouldn't mind after all she WAS stealing Louisa's dance partner. And not onpurpose. "Of course - you should dance with Louisa she shouldn't be bored."Or jealous and upset but India thought best of people. And maybe when she told her Hey don't feel jealous about me - I'm nothing to be jealous about! Even if she was something to be jealous about.
Still she danced swiftly, left foot forward - right food back.

"Okay..." Janice felt unsure with this, but she ought to try first before backing up. So she took Eris' hand, and whispered.
"What are we supposed to dance again?"
"We~, are going to be dancing the waltz." Eris smirked happily, as this was something she could do in a class, and do well.
"I'll lead...and your job is basically to enjoy yourself." Which was of course, the truth with most dancing. Taking a few steps back they were with the rest of the dancers on the dance floor, swirling about.
Then again, Eris didn't want to insult this girl's intelligence on dancing, so she was quick to add, "Have you waltzed before?"
"Okay..." Janice felt unsure with this, but she ought to try first before backing up. So she took Eris' hand, and whispered.
"What are we supposed to dance again?"
" You will do the waltz well" Willaim whispered to Janice. Willaim waits for his partner Witsy.

Alyssa was so grateful to her friends who must have noticed standing or rather trying to hide behind a tree. "Are you ladies sure? If you are, I would really love to join you. Thanks alot," Alyssa said to both Rose and Daisy. She was going to volunteer to dance with the broom while Rose danced with Daisy but she did want to dance the waltz for a few minutes, so taking Daisy hand in one hand and placing her other hand on Daisy's shoulder, she allowed Daisy to lead her in the waltz. "This is so amazing. Even I've only been dancing for a few seconds, my spirits are lifting", she told Daisy. "Thank you for asking me to join you both".
After a few minutes of waltzing round the floor, Alyssa was back to smiling and would have danced all night...."just like the song" before she remembered that Rose was still dancing with a broom.
"Here Rose, I'll let you take your turn now. Hopefully Daisy's toes aren't broken by now. I think that I may have accidentally trod on them at least once." Alyssa stepped and happily watched as Rose and Daisy danced off.
Selina shut her eyes and internally cursed herself for her slip up. She was doing so well, but Gideon had caught her off guard challenging her back with smirks at all of her remarks. Most people she knew never challenged her. In fact, she could not think of the last person who had challenged her besides Adam... and well he was being more of a prick than challenging her. It felt kind of nice to have someone who wasn't really afraid of her. Although she was small she knew that she packed a serious punch. She was glad that someone was finally punching back.
After she made her comment to him she wondered why Gideon was taking so long to reply to her. Finally he seemed to find his voice and he stuttered a little bit. Was it something she said? She didn't think she said anything so offensive so was just trying to pay him a compliment. Without even noticing it Selina stopped dancing. She looked up at him, her hand still in his and her arm resting on his, "Are you alright?"
Did you just lose something? The GAME? Sorry... 'Justin Bieber, he is the man!' U mad, Felton!?

Rose chuckled. She bowed to the broom. 'I thank you, madame, for allowing me to have that dance...' Rose said formally. She chuckled and walked over to Daisy. 'Right. I'll be the dude. Which means my right hand holds your left one... Then my left hand goes on your shoulder and your right hand goes on my arm...' Rose said, sort of to herself, sort of to Daisy. She looked at how they were standing... 'Perfect! Now, shall we do a rock and roll one?' Rose asked evily, before stepping backwards to start... Right, she was determined! No fooling around, she loved dancing... She'd always danced, she danced with her dad on Christmas and New Years, she watched her parents dance on special occastions, she danced with her cousins. Quite a lot of the time it was her teaching her cousins to waltz...
João liked their harmony. She did know how to dance and he cared a lot for eye-contact, which they kept throughout their little dance, and he felt well while dancing with her. But of course, his main goal for this class was to dance with Louisa, since he actually knew how to dance and although he had a good time dancing with India, he squeezed her hand lightly.
"We should end," he whispered again so that only she could hear. And, indicating a turn--she would get it, right?!--he tried to end artistically and bowed to her in a noble way.
"Thank you, Senhorita Johanson for this dance."He had enjoyed it, and hoped she did too.

Now he faced Louisa. He smiled at her too. Offering a hand, he bowed again to her and asked "Shall we dance?" They were going to, of course, but it was still polite to ask.
And he indeed had noticed that fake smile and jealous attitude, which made him pretty pleased on the inside.

Between João and India, undesirable couple and the two professors who seemed to be dancing well Louisa had grown extremely bored - and a mix of other feelings as well. She had kept her folded arms, trying to absorb each move into her head so she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of; the girl that was prettier than her, her previous crush, the girlfriend's of her previous crush. Not to mention the boy she wanted to impress.
...aaand they were done. Louisa's nervousness rose to the surface drowning every other emotion. João turned to face her and extended his hand, with a bow. Did he have to be so formal and elegant? Formal was good but elegance was... not Louisa-ish. She took his hand, surprised at how quickly hers got sweaty, and moved forward to stand in India's place - whether the girl moved aside or not.
The smile wasn't achievable with all the emotions so she kept her face straight, she wasn't frowning at least.
Anyways. The instructions were to put one hand on his arm, Louisa brought her right arm to the right place, and the other one holding his hand, she was doing it already. Her elbow still stuck to her side in its original place.

Alyssa laughed when Rose started a rock and roll style of a waltz."Now I remember that dance. It's a new Country version of a waltz but it sure looks like a lot of fun too." Alyssa thought to herself. "I know a song entitled that too." Trying to recall the steps which was almost similar to line dancing, Alyssa picked up the broom that Rose had laid down and started following the steps that vaguely remembered. "Angle body and step diagonally forward left across right, step together right, step together left, rock step back right, recover weight to left, step together right,"Alyssa started humming a tune as she moved on to the second part of the dance steps. "This is definitely fun, right broom?" Alyssa said to the broom.

Then...what?
Taking her hand, João placed his other on her upper back and smiled at her again as if comforting her. When she was settled too, he looked into her eyes and started moving to the rhtythm of the music; left leg to forward, right leg to side, right leg to backwards... in the meantime, he was careful not to let his excitement be noticed. Yeah, he was excited for being this close and actually dancing with Louisa for the first time.

Gulp.
Why was he looking at her so confidently and.. charmingly? That made her blood rush through her veins faster - if that was possible. She averted her eyes to the ground once he suddenly took a step forward causing her to stagger to the back by both legs, then he - so casually - stepped to the side, whao whaaaaaaooo! Louisa had moved her hand to grab his shoulder for balance and stopped in place. She couldn't help but smile sheepishly, "Easy, okay? I've never.. waltzed before." There goes the big news that was supposed to be secret - at least in front of a good dancer like India.
Taking a deep breath, she readjusted herself. Putting a hand on his arm, catching the other one and bringing her elbow slightly away from her side. She fixated her eyes at their feet ready to detect his moves. The others didn't seem to stare at the ground like she did, though. Was there a secret to this that she was oblivious of?
