A surly looking Mr. Stryker is seated on a bench. As you enter the gazebo, he'll motion for you to take a seat on either a pillow, beanbag, or good ol' concrete. Your choice.
Please, come in! The lesson will begin shortly (OOC: 4pm EST, 9pm GMT (I think...) tomorrow), so feel free to talk amongst yourselves.

She positioned herself in properly and rest her left hand on his shoulder blade, then gave the hand that he held a little squeeze, just to let him know it was okay and she wouldn't break if he held her, no would she bite."Yes I have Jon..relax...have fun." She winked at him and let him lead. Slow and steady now Jon.
Blink.
Did she just call him JON?! Did his ears hear it correctly? Nobody has ever called Jonathan in any name except that. Never. Not that he's mad about it, NO. In fact he doesn't mind at all. He's just surprised though that for the first time someone shortened his name and decided to call him ---- JON? Really. It still feels rather awkward for him. But hey, maybe he needs to get used to it.
Still, Jonathan felt relieved that she knew how to dance waltz. He needs to at least loosen up a bit. There he goes again, making things perfect all the time. Is it because of his OCD behavior that he could sometimes think that everything should be in proper order. ACK. If he keeps that up he'll be sounding boring. Not good.
He turned his gaze to Cassie as he started to lead the way. He first stepped forward and then stepped backward. Nice and easy. "That's good" absolutely. At least he wouldn't get himself injured. "You're from Hufflepuff right?" he asked. He just wanted to confirm that one. He has seen Cassie before but he just couldn't put which house she was. he should have asked the first time but that would just be rude. Is it?
Ellie just shook her head with a smile at Dallin. He was pretty confident about this, but when they started dancing... Ellie would probably sweep all the confidence away and send it to some distant unknown land. Yeah. That's how bad she was. "Whatever you say." She mumbled with a small grin.
Listening to Stryker, she tried to keep up with his thick French accent and all the directions he gave. Right. Hands together, check. She nodded when Dallin put his hand on her upper back. And now her hand went on.. his arm. Looking at the professors, Ellie saw where Bentley's hand was and placed her own hand in the same spot on Dallin's arm. Whoo. Deep breath. Try not to injure him? Heh. "I make no promises." She muttered quietly.
Just then, she heard more instructions. If le monsieur moved his right leg forward, then le mademoiselle was to move her left foot back. Ellie stared down at their legs until that made sense. "Erm.. Okay. Got it." She looked up at Dallin warily. "Wanna... walk around?
Ellie actually sounded... nervous. Like she was actually afraid that she would do something really wrong. Dallin decided not to dwell on that anymore, though, so he just chuckled and shook his head.
On to dancing.
He watched her as she looked at their legs, then grinned when she looked back up at him. "Yeah," he said cheerfully. "Shall we step back?" He looked down at his leg, wiggling his right one so that she would know which he was going to step back with. "Ready? One, two, three... one, two, three..." He kept counting quietly and he stepped back, back, and then to the side once. Not too hard, right? Hopefully Ellie could get that much.
"Oh good, I'd hate to have missed out on all of Chad's knowledge." Isabelle laughed slightly, before covering her mouth with her hand. She didn't know he could dance actually. Could he? But, oh, Herbology. Lovely. "Nice to meet you, too," she smiled.
Oops. They'd been caught talking.
Isabelle suddenly felt like an actual student, her face going slightly red. And then she realised who she was. Smirking at Chad she gave him a little salute. "Sorry, sir. Won't happen again."
No sooner had she shut up than she had to...get up? Partners. Great. There were two male teachers and three female ones. Somebody was going to end up with the student short straw, weren't they? It would probably be her.
Isabelle looked across at one of those females when she spoke. She had yet to learn her name, having only exchanged a smile upon Issy's entering class. Shrugging, she rolled onto her knees and stood up, brushing herself down. "I suppose so. Although whoever ends up with me might be getting a trip to the hospital wing with a broken toe." Isabelle giggled, knowing full well it wasn't a joke.
Edvard was observing the student's as they looked for partner's when Mr Stryker sent all the attending profs him included a reprimand for not paying attention. Huh? He was there, listening and so on what else was expected of him? Edvard was there on his own accord not on orders.
*Sigh*
Taking his professory responisibility seriously Eddie stood up and headed across the grass to Professor Magnus. "Pleased to meet you Isabelle! I'm Edvard Roslund, Astronomy.."
"Would you like to waltz with me?" he asked a friendly smile pursing his lips.
"I'm Prudence-Melinda... but people just call me Prue" she said smiling. "Ok then" she, placing her hand on onto Presley's shoulder, resting her arm on her arm. It didn't seem anything close to the awkwardness she expected, the last person she ballroom danced being her sister or other relatives only but on the bright side she'd met someone new through this. Now they had to wait for the next instructions... what "fun". While they were waiting she thought she might as well try to strike a conversation so they weren't just standing there awkwardly. "Yeah... I've been dancing for a while... my sisters better... don't know why she isn't here... in fact she's also a Ravenclaw!"
"It's nice to meet you, Prue," Pres smiled at the younger girl. Probably only younger by a couple of months, but still, Pres was a second year already. And well on her way to skipping third year. Presley was interested now. "Who's your sister?" Odds were good that Presley knew her. Dancing for a while? Good. This class should be a breeze. And thank Merlin she had a partner who wouldn't step on her toes.
When João walked over to her India couldn't help but blush - she had always thought that the spanish and latino languages were utterly breath taking. Much better then calling girls Sheila's and all that loveliness of Australia.
"Er" India started, blushing even more. She was lost for words. He was a rather attractive guy - "I'm India Johanson" she smiled her soft australian accent trilling through her words. "I-I would love to, it would be better than Chip here...my imaginary dance partner" she patted the air next to her and smiled.
Awkward.

No. She spotted a more beautiful and taller girl. A blonde one too. And Joao asked her to join them? =O Louisa's eyes bulged out of her face - how was she supposed to learn how to dance when someone like that girl who could dance with air? The almost fourteen years old followed Joao as he introduced himself. She smiled formally at the girl and nodded encouragingly, "Yeah." She didn't want Joao to think that she had any problem with that since HE didn't. And why didn't he have a problem with dancing with two different girls, again? She was going to interrogate ask later...
...and use the puking pastilles if his answer isn't the right one.
Wow, someone got excited with a little courtesy. Or maybe she thought he was handsome--which he was, and he knew. Or, maybe, it was both. In any way, he had just met a Ravenclaw girl--meaning she wasn't that dumb and shallow--who seemed to be more enthusiastic than Louisa. He liked this class; it enabled him to meet more girls. Hehe.
Nice to meet you, India," he said, noting the accent and the interesting name he had heard for the first time in English. Well, since he would make sure to meet with her later, he could ask about it then.
Chuckling at her little joke, he waved at Chip with his head too and offered his hand at the same time Louisa arrived. Since both were from the same house, he didn't see any necessity to introduce them to each other. If none of them took the lead and offered who would go first, he was going to. He had already offered his hand to India anyway, so, eyes going between them for a moment, he asked politely again.
Beth looked at the woman for a moment. Was she amongst the people that didn't know who Beth was?! Oh the horror. "Well... There'd be no use sending them up to the Hospital wing if the Healer's sat in the gazebo, too." She commened, with a grin. Ambiguous enough? Pushing herself away from the side of the gazebo, Beth walked to stand next to the professor. She'd not yet made the connection that there were uneven numbers of male to female professors...
Isabelle's eyes widened slightly upon hearing the woman's comment. Oh goodness, this was the Healer, wasn't it? The penny had dropped. "I'm so sorry, I didn't realise you were the Healer! There are so many different staff members to when I was last here. But it is nice to meet you," Isabelle nodded and smiled. Still, she was female, and that left just one man....

Talking of which...here he was.
Isabelle nodded in greeting as he spoke and introduced himself. Astronomy? Hmm, she had always found the stars so fascinating, but spell work was more her thing. "Likewise, Edvard." There did seem to be an awful lot of people she had to meet.
And she mirrored his smile when he asked her to dance. Poor man didn't know what he was letting himself in for. She wasn't going to turn him down, however. "I would like that very much, thank you. Although I must warn you - I've never danced properly before, so I'm squarely in the novice status." Hopefully that wouldn't put him off.
'DADA? Yeah, she's pretty scary, and I've had Lafay. Don't worry, Lafay is a lot nicer than Glass, she just doesn't like anyone knowing!' Rose assured Faven. 'You're gonna get some nasty teachers, they'll get better!' Rose smiled. Hopefully.
Daisy heard a familiar voice and looked up, so there was someone she knew here. Rose. She was standing close by with some first-years, looking quite odd as she towered over them all.
'Rose,' she grinned, running over to her friend. 'Will you dance with me. I'm a loner right now...' she sighed. There seemed to be 2 other firsties. Maybe they could go together and she could go with her friend.

There is no need to do anything fancy. Just...if he is to move his right leg forward, la mademoiselle's left leg to move back. Vice versa if he is to move his left leg forward. He turned his attention back to Seren. "Shall we?"
Drat, her plan to blend in with her surroundings hadn’t worked. Of course, her abilities picked the times when she didn’t want them to act up to do just that. Sighing, Kurumi took a few steps forward towards Selina, until she realized that she was already dancing with Gideon. Was it even possible to dance with all three of them together? Kurumi wasn’t entirely sure, but all she wanted to do right now was go hide under a rock. She would even prefer to have a conversation with Professor Lafay to being here.
“It’s…alright Selina, Gideon,” she said timidly. “I-I-I’ll just watch…learn through observation as it were…”

What was so bad about the whole dancing ordeal? It was not like all three of them were going to dance together, they would take turns. Then again Selina should have expected this; Kurumi, although she had progressed much, was a very shy person in awkward situations. Perhaps it was best to just let her work it out on her own. They would talk later.
Then she turned her head back around and looked at Gideon, "Sorry about all of the momentary confusion. Um, I'll talk to her later."
His height contributed too? She suppressed a laugh and jested, "Yeah, I guess, but let's not think about it, alright? It just might make this whole dancing thing harder if we think about it..." However, she never got to finish her thought because Mr. Stryker started to demonstrate how they should dance together. Once he was done she looked up at Gideon and said, "Well, um, you ready?"
Gideon looked over to see if Kurumi was infact join them, frowning ever so slightly as she appologetically took her leave. He couldn't blame her though, she probably was just a little overwhelmes at least he guess that was the reason. Gideon himself knew he might have been the same in previous years where he prefered to stand back. "Its alright and understandable," he said waving off Selina's added appology for her friend.
"Right...good idea," Gideon said nodding in agreement dropping the subject of height. As the groundskeeper spoke once more leading them on, the boy straightened his stance a little. "As ready as I'll ever be," he commented looking back at her and taking a breath and registering what he needed to do first. His would be the first movement and everything went from there and the professor made it sound and look so easy when he doubted it was, at least the first time around.
"Ok...right leg forward...left leg back," he said quietly aloud as he stepped forward on his right leg, hoping she moved with him.

Rose turned and saw Daisy running over. 'Sure! We're a three, so it's make more sense!' Rose nodded. 'You two be okay? No killing each other or anything?' Rose chuckled.
Mina nodded. She wasn't all that great with keeping in close touch with everyone she should be keeping in touch with, but she had a feeling that Daniel didn't mind. Her mind wasn't exactly where is was supposed to be when it came to her family and all the distant cousins that involved. Merlin, Simon and her had the same last name and they didn't get to talk all that much in the time they were both there.
Shrugging, she smiled. "Yeah, but talking can be overrated at time," she replied with a small laugh. She didn't mind that they weren't the talking type of family. Seriously, there was only so much they could talk about and it wasn't like they didn't see each other in their common room. The way they were was good for them both.
Taking his cue, she raised her arms as well and got into position to start. "I'll warn you, it's been a while since I took those dance lesson. But I promise not to step on your toes." Yes, she had danced a little since the lessons and all; but if they were focusing on the basics and form, she would be okay.
Daniel gave a little smile...he didn't really know what to say. "I agree... doing is much better.." Doing is better? What did that even mean? Daniel decided that he'd concentrate on dancing. Not that he was any better at that..
Looking around he saw how to start...he placed his hand just above Mina's waist. He was so glad it'd been her, with any other girl it'd be awkward. With his left hand he took Mina's right. So far so great....now it was Mina's turn to place her hand on his shoulder...Daniel opted for silence instead of speaking.

"Shall we dance, senhorita?"
Now, to watch for Louisa's reaction.
India couldn't help but smile as he seemed to get the joke about Chip. She was glad he didn't reel back and feel awkward about that - he seemed to enjoy it. When he offered her his hand, she couldn't help but smile acceptingly.
Before she turned to take it, she smiled to Louisa, "Thank you, so much for understanding." She smiled softly. Brushing a bit of hair out of her face as she did so before quickly accepting Joao's hand.
"We are supposed to Waltz right?" She asked, nervously her smile still plastered happily on her face. "I'm not the best but I know the basics of it being a four-point square dance..." her last little line of speach ended up fading in decibles as she spoke it was almost a whisper at the end.

'You might want to tell me that too,' she laughed, blushing. 'I've never really danced before. But then, maybe i'm really good. What kind of dance are we doing?' she added. Daisy, as usual, had been listening, but also, as usual, nothing had actually managed to stick in her head.

João nodded at her question, holding her hand delicately as he placed the other on her upper back just like the professor had instructed them. He leaned on to hear the last part of her sentence--so close that there were only two or three centimetres between them. Once he got it, he nearly beamed and threw himself back again, quite artistical at that.
"See, you know something," he said with a small nod of encouragement. "Don't worry, I know how to dance." Probably the only thing his mother had taught him, although she still looked for her own interest in even doing that: I can't afford people saying 'Mrs. Neves' son cannot dance!' in the future! But he was grateful for that now. It didn't take him too much to figure out girls loved boys who could dance properly.
"Now, we'll keep the eye-contact and manage not to step on each other's feet." With a confident smile he looked into her eyes and started moving slooowly, first left foot to the side, then right foot to the back... though it was up to her to lead. She was the female side, after all.

What the... O__o
Louisa watched the girl - India? - very suspiciously as she blushed, touched her hair and all that girly girly moves that she disliked. It wasn't only that she was prettier than Louisa, she had this accent - a common point with Joao which triggered a searing alert in Louisa's head.
She was losing.
With a fake sweet smile at India Louisa stepped aside slightly, folded her arms and watched, burning fire inside of her chest started to grow. She did not know how to waltz hence attending the lesson but this girl was fine - not great but fine. That was going to be quite a challenge. Or she could just forget about this whole getting closer to Joao thing and bury herself in grief?
...or get rid of this India if she kept this girly attitude that clearly won Joao because HE WAVED AT AN IMAGINARY PERSON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
Her foot was tapping lightly on the ground in nervousness, her fingernails slightly digging into her arms as they were folded - yeah, she seriously was uncomfortable watching this.
Sorry it's late *makes up for it with dance knowledge*

...until Destiny's voice came to his ears greeting and, that moment made him lift his head immediately and look at her, asked to join them. What was that smirk on her face? Well...he was not sure of its source but it definitely made the boy think that perhaps Destiny Shepard was not as naive and innocent as she had seemed to be so far.
''Ummm...''
Josh looked at her and blinked, then looked at Evelyn, then back at Destiny and back at Evelyn.
He did not know what to say or if he could say anything without knowing Evelyn's idea about it. So, he only looked at his girlfriend...waiting for her decision instead. She was the one in charge.

...
Aaaaand that was nice while it lasted.
Looking over to Destiny, Evelyn may have laughed quietly...until she realized her friend was serious. Seriously? Looking up to Josh, seeing that she was the one that was supposed to decide, Evelyn sighed quietly before smirking, and hugging him close. Laying her head near his shoulder, facing Destiny that is, her smirked widened. "If you want to..."
Hehe.
Still hugging Josh, she turned her head the other way to watch the demonstration that Mr. Stryker was giving. Didn't they learn all of this in fourth year? While she herself already knew all the steps, it would be an amazement to know if someone had already forgotten.
Though there was that one problem now bugging her again. How were they supposed to do this when they had three in a group? "Who goes first?" she muttered, looking back to Destiny.
Hmmmmmm?
Well jeez, Josh!
He didn't have to look so thrilled that she had went over to them. Sure, she may not have been paying much attention to what the Groundskeeper man had said, but she did hear that if someone was partner-less, they should go and join another group. Destiny was only following the directions! And yeah, Josh and Evelyn were being disgusting, so she had to break them up.
She was almost tempted to roll her eyes as she watched him look at Evelyn to her, then back to Evelyn. How hard was it to say no? She said it all the time.
No. No. No. Nonononononono.
Besides. The faster they said no, the faster she could get out of there. Would any of the old people realize she had left? They all seemed to be busy dancing anyway, and.. that was not the answer she was waiting for. Blinking a few times, the smirk that was on her face disappeared. No, she did not want to dance! She just wanted them to stop being disgusting.
Glancing at the Groundskeeper, being disgusting with the Herbology Professor, Destiny took a few steps away from her friends. "YOU can go first. Actually, you can go first and last.." She was just going to dance by herself.
And with that, she began to spin slowly on the spot.

Huffing out a breath of air, Ellie nodded. Merlin, she needed to relax. This was just practice. In fact, they weren't even dancing yet. She took a deep breath. "Okay." She said with an embarrassed laugh. She was freaking out too much.
Watching their feet, Ellie saw Dallin wiggle his right foot. So that meant Ellie would use her left foot to move forward. Got it. And now he was counting? Was that supposed to mean something to her? Maybe it was a beat. Beat? Sure, why not. Ellie didn't know. So when Dallin started moving, she followed with her left foot. And back again. And, OH, to the side. Ellie didn't know where he was going to her movement was a bit choppy. She made a weird face, but managed to keep her balance. They stopped and she looked up at Dallin and blushed. "I'm a horrible dancer." She told him with a little laugh. As if he hadn't noticed.

"Okay....left hand to right hand..." She repeated, grabbing Indy's hand and raising it slightly. "And right hand just over the shoulder blade." She laughed again. How cool was it that she got to dance here at Hogwarts? She then wondered if school dances were held here...kind of like they were held at the Muggle schools. That would be really cool! She could teach her peers how to do the popular line dances and maybe they could teach her to do wizarding dances. She was sure they had different dances than Muggles did.
Ooh. Kourt knew about dancing? That was SO good, because Indiana had no idea at all. And she really didn't want to look like a fool at all. She smiled at her friend. "I'm glad about that...I don't want to look silly." Because that wasn't cool. She was sure it would be fun anyway, surely everyone would be having too much fun to really care about what was going on.
"Okay..." Indiana smiled, allowing her friend to grab her hand. She really had no idea what on earth she was doing, so she was just going with the flow really. So hopefully Kourt would know what was going on. This felt a little weird, probably because they both girls, but she didn't care. She was having fun, and Kourt was her friend, so they totally looked epic. "What next?" She asked with smile, as she placed her other hand just over Kourt's shoulder blade.

It's the end of the show. Of the historemix. We switched up the flow. And we changed the prefix
But we want to say. Before we drop the curtain. Nothing is for sure. Nothing is for certain
His attention then turned to the class. "Soooo..." Now what? Oh lord. "Why not take some time to move around the room with your partner, maintaining your dance stance? There is no need to do anything fancy. Just...if he is to move his right leg forward, la mademoiselle's left leg to move back. Vice versa if he is to move his left leg forward. Same if you wish to move sideways. The key is to make sure you are in sync, so...talk to each other. Communicate where you wish to go. Now...go!"
Alice was a bit relieved she couldn't find her partner, then she wouldn't have to worry about looking ridiculous. She did as she was instructed(even without a partner), but stumbled a little on her feet. Frowning, she decided to go back to where she was sitting, and just watch.
This was going to be a nightmare. Ryden could tell. She could ALSO tell that Orlando didn't actually need to be here - he was probably one of those wonderful dancers that moved like they had the music under their skin or something annoying like that.
Oh, haha. The blonde made a face up at her boyfriend. "Very funny. But you'll have to go to the hospital wing by yourself - I'm NOT going there again. NOPE," she shook her head, to emphasize her point and was about to add another remark when the caretaker spoke up.
Nononononono.
ACK.
Staring intently at the two adults as they moved into position, Ryden tried to literally memorise each and every part of their body; where it was located and where it was supposed to be in regards to the partner. Ugh.
RIGHT. Orlando had to put his hand on her back - not the waist, as she'd always thought - and she had to put hers on his shoulder. The other two hands were held on the other side at approximately her eye level. Yes? No? Glancing up at Orlando, she held up both her hands and shrugged helplessly. He would position them.
Yep. Seemed the safest way.
The professor finally spoke and Orlando couldn't be more excited. Ryden on her feet - with no excuse to back out of this. Oh. Perfect.
As the Professor had instructed, the boy placed his hand on her back and let his other hand take hers. There. Perfect position. So fitting together. When she shrugged helplessely .. Orlando grinned. "Trust me," he whispered
Once positioned, he waited for the Professor to speak again. However, when he did .. Orlando was a bit dissapointed. Just move around? So he couldn't twirl Ryden .. or dip her or cause that blush to grow even more on her cheeks?
Sigh.
Not wanting to show off, the boy did as he was told - bringing his right feet backward and nodding at Ryden to bring hers forward. "Let's see if you can get my toes, then"

Rose hugged Daisy back. 'Ah, well, I'm OK at dancing, so I can help!' Rose smiled. 'We're doing a waltz! That's why the girls are trying to get with boys, it's a dance made for members of opposite sexes... So, I'll do the dude part...' Rose chuckled. 'You know, I just realised that both of our name's are flowers!' Rose laughed.
'A waltz. Ugh,' Daisys heart sunk a little. She wanted to do tap dance. With awesome shoes. And she had to spin round in circles...
'Ok, i'll be girl,' she said, getting into the right position. 'You only just noticed our names are both flowers. Seriously Rose, you can be so sloooow. I realised that ages ago,' she laughed.

Right, left foot goes back first, okay?" she moved her right foot forwards to go with Penny moving hers back. "Then your right foot goes back, a little to the right of your left. Letting go of Penny she demonstrated before taking up her place again.
"Right, are you ready? One, two, three, one, two, three." she said, setting the slow rhythm.
Penny wondered what she was doing here... she was completely out of her depth... then taking a deep breath, she started listening to Aurora's directions...
Putting her left foot back first like she was told, then her right foot and was bringing her left foot across and putting it down, but instead of landing on the ground it landed on Aurora's foot, Hard....
"Oh my Gilderoy, Aurora... are you ok?, I'm really sorry, is your foot alright?"
Penny spluttered, feeling terribly guilty.... but she did warn Aurora that this might happen - although Penny had thought it was the toes that would end up broken, not an entire foot!!!

Aurora smiled reassuringly as Penny began to dance with her. "Good, good, OW!" Ooooooh poor toe... Oh... it was okay. "It's alright. Will it make you feel safer if I cast an impervious charm on my feet?" she asked, grinning.
She took out her wand and pointed it at her shoes. "Impervius." she said. "There we go, shall we try again?" Aurora grinned at Penny. She was determined that she would LEARN.
