A surly looking Mr. Stryker is seated on a bench. As you enter the gazebo, he'll motion for you to take a seat on either a pillow, beanbag, or good ol' concrete. Your choice.
Please, come in! The lesson will begin shortly (OOC: 4pm EST, 9pm GMT (I think...) tomorrow), so feel free to talk amongst yourselves.
Chad watched as all the students started to pair up with each other. "Oh, it is okay, Mademoiselle," he chuckled, turning towards the Herbology professor now. "I, after all, did ask you to assist me. So, I must assume the risk that can come with it. Besides, I am sure you are just fine."
He turned back to the crowd. "Does everybody have a partner?"
" Yes, Sir. Well, most of us anyway. " Said Justin.
Gideon looked over as a younger Ravenclaw approached and asked if he had a partner. He couldn't help the ackwardness that welled up in him and he debated an answer...accept with all the nervousness or lie. No matter what he couldn't bring himself to do the second option. However he was about to answer when the felt a tap on his shoulder and turned a little to see Selina there, the fourth year smiling in amusement at the name and title she gave him.
"Yes..." he answered his friend, "yes you may." Remembering the other girl Gideon turned back looking appologetic. "Sorry...I had actually been looking for her," he appologized, not registering how it might sound to his fellow Gryffindor however true it was.
Selina smiled broadly when he accepted her offer as partner. She seriously did not want to pair up with anyone she didn't know and her and Gideon had been spending a lot of time together as of late. He was a logical option and besides she liked to mess with his hair. It was a win-win situation for the little redhead.
Then she watched him turn around to a Ravenclaw and decline her offer. Suddenly Selina felt awful. She didn't know that someone had already asked Gideon to be partners. If she knew she would have never had come over. That was too rude to do to a person. As she was about to tell Gideon and the girl to be partners and excuse her rude interruption Gideon said something about Selina being the one he was looking for. She had no idea why but she blushed at the comment. That was really sweet that he thought of her as a good enough friend to seek her out.
Once he was done with the girl she said to him, "That was nice of you to say, but I wish I had known someone else had asked you. I would have let you partner up with her. But thank you for the compliment." Then she shook off the meloncoly and asked, "So, um, now what do we do?"
And, this one, too? "For those of you who are experienced in waltz, what do you say? Can it be done on one instrument? A violin, in particular?"
What was this? The professors were getting all chatting? Tsk tsk. "Professors, please pay attention," he grinned, shaking his head at Isabelle and Seren. Such naughty teachers. Too bad he couldn't give them detention.
"I guess now would be as good a time as any to practice. Erm...get in pairs. Mademoiselle Bentley, would you care to join me up here, please?"
Cove put her head down and smirked a bit. "Sir, may I play the music for the dance? I'll show you it can be done on one instrument." She said standing up.
If she couldn't play, then she had to find someone to partner up with, right? "You're not gonna show us how it's done first?"

It Kimalia a bit to notice Mitch looking down at her with raised eyebrows. "What? Do I have a bogie or something?" She covered her nose immediately just in case. Don't worry.. about what? She just kept blinking, he was acting mysterious to her before turning to the Professor's voice.

"Yes, we do sir." Kimalia raised both her and Mitch's joined hands to indicate that they weren't partner-less. Not that she could speak for the entire class, but hopefully they were paired up already so they could get the fun started.
Partners! This was something Em should have expected, but the idea had startled her a bit. Oh what ever, It just meant that who ever her partner was would have to deal with her stepping on their shoes, and her falling down. Unfortunately, it seemed like everyone around her was already pairing up with people they had come to class with. Shaking her head when Mr. Stryker asked, Em said "No sir, I haven't found one yet." Then addressing her class mates, she said, "anyone still need a partner?"

Turning back to Selina, Gideon spotted her blush and caught on to what he had said and what she had to have heard. "Its ok," he assured her as he lead them slightly away. "It was true I had been looking for a friendly face...shy Gideon was making an appearance and I wasn't sure about accepting her offer anyway," the Gryffindor admitted refering to their past conversation where he had admitted to Selina to being shy when he was in earlier years.
"And you're welcome," he added with a small smile. He wasn't sure how to answer figuring they'd have to wait but upon hearing the groundskeeper speak up again the boy figured they wouldn't be waiting long. "Now we wait for a moment," Gideon finally answered his companion.
Ellie was staring blankly at Stryker. Watching him, but hardly listening. It was odd for him to teach a class anyway. Even if this couldn't be considered a real class. ...Unless it was. She was unsure. But the excitement she originally had when entering the gazebo was fading fast.
Why? Treyen wasn't here. Which meant she'd have to dance with someone else. Which wasn't a terrible thing. No. It just would have been exciting to have the boy she danced with in her first dance lesson at Hogwarts there to dance with again. Especially with the funny way things have changed between the two of them since.
A voice brought her back from the woe-is-me, dazed, empty staring thing. Normally, she'd recognize the voice, but since she hadn't been paying any attention to the sounds around her, she had no clue who this could be.
She turned her head and...BEAM.
"Hi." She'd thought too soon. Everything was right in the world now.
Wait, what?
Treyen had been completely lost in this sort-of lesson and completely lost in those blue eyes that looked back at him so he almost missed the part where they actually had to dance.
However, Mr. Stryker hadn't even begun to show them what dance they were going to do, and he hadn't been paying enough attention to know which one they'd decided on practicing. Awesome. Yet he knew one thing...he'll be dancing with the redhead sitting next to him.
The boy stood up, and leaned forward just a bit, "Would you do me the honor of having you as a dancing partner?" he said as he extended his hand her way, smiling again, of course. He couldn't remember how he'd asked her that first time, but he was certainly overdoing it this time.
Aspen paused to listen to Mr. Stryker ask if everyone had a partner. SHE did, so she was set. Her thoughts wandered back to what Eino had shared with her.

Even though they would make them look silly, at least they would all look silly together. Last term, most people didn't want to admit to completing several of the assignments because some of them were embarrassing, to say the least. Eino then drew closer to Aspen and whispered. "I have heard that Lord Borr also has a particular interest in humiliating people, and a knack for it, too." He drew back and discreetly nodded towards the Groundskeeper. If he had to guess, the purpose was to humiliate the the poor man, but he was handling himself and class very well and most people seemed to be enjoying it, so the joke would be on the Minister.
So physical education, then. That made sense enough, the Ministry mandating outdoor activities. She would have gladly accepted Eino's word, but he went one step further and gave her more information. She turned her big blue eyes up to Eino, a mixture of awe and humor there. Aspen wasn't one to pass judgement on adults, but certainly would not so boldly accuse the Minister of Magic of purposefully humiliating Gamekeepers. Eino was bold.
Parts of her did wonder if it was true. Why would Eino make that up? But other parts made her wonder what Mr. Stryker really did to deserve it. Weren't MOST stories two sided?
"He doesn't seem too put out though," Aspen echoed Eino's thoughts. "And he got lots of the female professors to attend..." she dropped her gaze to her feet and smiled. Dancing savvy or not, the Gameskeeper seemed capable enough to her. "Probably to chaperone." Not for his own amusement. Griiiiiiin.

Glancing about curiously, Brooklyn looked for any one who was without a partner. She played with the hem of her robes a bit nervously. Feeling like the only female in Hogwarts that couldn't dance made her feel all awkward and.. not herself.
Her bright blue eyes wandered to the err... professor-Groundskeeper guy. She raised her hand tentatively. "Professor, i'm afraid i don't have a partner." Not like she cared all that much. She didn't want to step on the dude's toes or anything. So.. maybe it was better she didn't have one?
Probably.

She hoped she would get that from her statement, but if she didn't Isobel would ask, because she was curious.
"Uh...I don't know." How did the dance differ if you were the girl or the guy?
Sammy couldn't help but nod at what Isobel said. It was true. SHE SPOKE THE TRUTH. Five? Sammy knew of at least 10, but she only knew 3 properly and two had moved schools anyway. So 1. Great. "I knew three but two moved so one" she mumbled quietly. So she wasn't being rude, she had answered the implied question. Just quietly. Yeah. SMOOOOOOOOOTH.
It seemed Sammy knew more about ballroom dancing than Isobel. That was interesting. But only because her muggle school that had rudely FORCED the knowledge into her brain. RUDE. "I'll be the guy if you don't want to" she said. Because the guy leads, that's the only difference she could remember and Sammy liked leading things.
Hearing the professor/sir/guy/person ask if everyone had a partner she just nodded. Because she had a partner. So that was important.

Maybelle hesitantly raised her hand. "I don't have a partner." She said. "Mostly because Jake's not here." She would only dance with Jake. Unless some really cute guy suddenly came along to ask her She looked around awkwardly. At least she wasn't the only one without a partner. But she would only dance with a guy!

Wait.. they had to practice now? Matt wasn't so much scared of the fact that he was out of practice since he sort of gave up dancing a few years ago to play Quidditch and needless to say that did not end well. He knew that this somehow was not going to end well either but that didn't mean he was going to give up already, those words didn't exactly exist in his vocabulary. If you can get through this without making a fool of yourself then I think this whole nervousness should pass. The question now was who was he going to ask to dance, being the fact that he was 6' 1"; anyone who had danced with him had to be careful since it took a little more effort to move correctly but there was never the case of him stepping on feet since he knew exactly where his feet were at all times.
Eira really had hoped that she didn't have to dance with a partner , part of why she liked samba....you could do it solo. It was supposed to be boy / girl if possible and Eira wasn't really the best with boys. She looked around and really all the people she had met , as far as she could tell, were already taken ...those that were there anyways. "I do not have a partner as of yet either , Sir." Eira spoke up. She wondered who , if anyone , that she would dance with.

As soon as Stryker had told them to partner up, Ellie bit down on her lip. She looked to the side opposite Treyen. Her face wore a 'Why, whoever shall I dance with' expression that was clearly exaggerated and sarcastic.
Her eyes turned to him as he asked a question so ridiculously worded, she had to laugh. Honor? Doubtfully. "Yes. Yes I would," she said, taking his hand and rising to her feet.
"Are you having this odd feeling of Deja Vu?" She tilted her head to the side. Heh.

Maybelle walked over to the lone boy. He was a Slytherin. But, oh well. Better than a girl. "Hi, there." She said. "I'm Maybelle. Do you want to be my partner?" She asked, heart racing. He looked to be in her year. Hopefully, he would say yes, so that way she wasn't dancing by herself. That would be weird.

Seriously? Did she think she was going to dance with someone else when he was around? Well, maybe with Conan, and...FINE, she could dance with Dallin, but the rest? No.
That's why he was first this time around.
And, once she'd taken his hand, he didn't let go of it. His eyes were on her as she spoke and he chuckled, "I think I said something much simpler when I asked you to dance the first time," so, no real feeling of deja vu, not entirely. Maybe. Not. He didn't fully know, nor cared too much but he started to think about something...something he immediately said, "I wished I remembered more about the day I met you," because he remembered very little of Vindictus' lesson. Celandine was there. And so was Ellie, but he couldn't remember the first words he'd said to her. That kind of crushed him right now.
Was it too important? Not really, "I'm just glad I did." He was more than glad that he'd met her. And even more so that it was while learning how to dance. She'd taught him, and taught him well.

That was something he wanted to know since it would make things more interesting if Maybelle hadn't had any formal training, so as long as this didn't turn into a total disaster then everything would be fine but if it did.. well that just meant that he had to get in some more practice later on. "Perhaps, for the time being, those who are left over can join another pair? The boy in the group would just have to take turns dancing with both? Sounds reasonable, yes?" Now, the ultimate question was...
"Any pair willing to take on another?"

Presley shrugged. It was okay, she could understand preferring to dance with someone more familiar. The problem was, Presley still didn't have a partner. She looked around. All of the guys were taken, and it seemed there were a thousand girls without dancing partners. Great. Presley didn't have a problem dancing the guys part, if a couple of girls needed to partner up, but she was better at her part. She raised her hand. "I still don't have a partner, sir!"

Eris waved her hand in the air childishly and shamelessly, can't have another kid feeling left out now could they?
"Will and I can have a a third in our group, sir!" she answered warmly.

Maybelle had smiled at Matt. "Nice to meet you too." She said. She nodded. "Been dancing since I lived in California. So, I've been dancing for years." She blushed slightly. She didn't want to sound nerdy. She took out her wand and with a quick wave, her normal robes turned into a beautiful outfit. "Gotta dress for the part." She said, laughing.
