To an ordinary poor dancer, knowing one's dance partner cannot dance either would normally be an encouraging idea. They could both learn, laugh, and stumble together. But Max? He was rather prideful and hoped his partner would carry them to victory.

Not like it was a competition or anything, though.

There was nothing he could do about it now, though, so he would have to try to make the best of it. "That's fine," Max smiled encouragingly. He suddenly decided he would really have to put himself out there to make this work. Maybe he needed to channel the most charming, smooth man he could think of to make this experience as painless as possible.

He chose Vindictus.

Max held out a hand to the girl, palm up, and flashed an enchanting smile. "I'm Max, by the way. Shall we find an open space?"

"Ok", she spoke softer than before. Hesitantly, she took his hand, "I'm Alice."

So much for having someone lead her on the dance floor. Kimalia rolled her eyes while smiling, "Puh-lease, I think I have more to worry about than a few stubbed toes." Like the rogued bludgers during Quidditch, or the biting creatures in her other classes.. "Well, maybe we'll invent our own step routine to it." That would be a positive outcome, but then again, she felt thankful she wore closed shoes for the class.

Hearing her name, Mina turned her head and saw it was Daniel. They hadn't seen each other in sometime, but she smiled as she did remember the last time they did talk. "Not at all," she replied. "It's always nice to dance with a friendly face."

There wouldn't be any awkwardness with Daniel, seeing they did know each other and she had danced with his brother, so she was kind of just keeping it in the family. Dancing with brothers and all.

Mackenzi was starting to get nervous. Her blue eyes skimmed the crowd around her, but she couldn't find anyone who was still partnerless. She absoultly hated being one of the new kids. Everyone around her had a large group of friends, and then there she was, standing by herself like a total loner.

Maybe she should make a run for it? The castle wasn't that far...

She turned around and was about to grab her stuff when she heard a voice behind her ask if she still needed a partner. She turned back around and blinked. A boy, Paulie, about her age was standing in front of her, tugging his red and gold tie. Was he talking to her? She glanced around. No other girl was standing near by...

She turned back towards him. "Uh...yeah sure, I'll be your partner." She said nodding her head. "I'm Mackenzi by the way." She added smiling a little.

Adelyn whipped her head around, hearing a boy asking about partners. He looked to be about a second year; oh well. They both needed partners. She got up from where she was sitting, and walked over to him.

"Need a partner?" She smiled, "I'm Adelyn, by the way."

This was definitely one of those classes where Aspen was learning more lessons that just subject content. For one, nearly everyone had had prior dance lessons or knew tons about waltzes. Perhaps that was because wizards tended to be a little more old-fashioned? Hmm.

Secondly, Aspen wasn't convinced Minister Borr hadn't perhaps had a good hunch about Mr. Stryker's dance skills. Not that she was judging - dancing wasn't exactly a life skill one needed. So what if he couldn't dance?

There it was, the practical portion of class, the part Eino was the most nervous about. Although, since he had anticipated it he didn't feel as nervous, and this was a dance class so it was only fitting that they practice the actual dances. He laughed an insecure laugh. "Don't worry, we will do it! Maybe we'll find out we have a secret talent for dancing or something.", he said, winking at her. He looked around at all the other pairs.

Lysandra looked around while people started getting into pairs to practice dancing. She wasn't good with asking to be a partner, but she really wanted to learn how to ballroom dance. Anyone want to partner up? she asked in a docile voice.

As he was looking for Ellie, the girl he had met in the Common Room on their first night at Hogwarts, Aspen, approached him. It didn't take long for him to get the carrying reference, but he hadn't expected her to remember it. In fact, he didn't even think she would remember him but since she was knew she probably didn't know that many people. "Right..." He replied timidly. Yeah, he had finally realized that offering to carry someone around the school wasn't the most appropriate thing to say, especially when the person is a new student. Nonetheless, if she was serious about, he would still do it. "Want to be my partner?" He was pretty sure that was her intention for walking up to him but he tended to take things literally so he needed some confirmation.

Ariella kicked her foot on the ground back-and-forth awkwardly as everyone began to partner up. It seemed like she was one of the only ones left without a partner. Would it be so bad to just partner up with another girl? It wasn't like they were going to be professionals. "Does anyone need a partner?" she asked again.

Daichi stared up from the ground where he was seated to an older girl that stood beside him. He smiled brightly as his eyes started to twinkle but when she mentioned needing a partner his face literally looked like O_________o

She looked older than him which was increasing his discomfort and shyness. Maybe if he stood up his partner wouldn't be so big... Yes he'd accept her as his partner for the dance, he wasn't someone to refuse, besides, he needed one.

But when he stood up, even then he had to look up a bit to look at the girl. This was so embarrassing. Blushing a deep shade of red , Daichi nodded his head at her question. "Yes..yes, i need a partner..." Maybe it wouldn't be that bad. The girl, Adelyn her name was, seemed nice enough. "I'm Daichi..."

Could they start now? He wanted this to end as soon as possible. When he had heard dance lessons he had thought they would dance on their own. NOT with partners.

"Hehe, maybe." A secret talent.. he was definitely acting positive for her. All Kimalia could think of was ignore his feet, ignore his feet. Kimalia looked expectedly at the Professors ready for the music to start along with any future embarrassment for her.

She tried not to giggle, quickly noting that he was embarrassed and probably really uncomfortable with all of this. The smile that first appeared on his face quickly turned into something she found unreadable, laughable even, but she didn't. She simply grinned, sympathetically.

That's when he stood up; he was almost as tall as her. She'd always been really short for her age, so this might have been a small comfort to him, hopefully. "It's nice to meet you, Daichi." She held out her hand for him to shake, figuring it was an appropriate greeting. "What year are you?"

She was anxious to start dancing, because she really did miss her lessons back home, but she decided not to push him into it to soon. They might as well get brief introductions and the basics out of the way first.

Kennedy looked around when he heard someone speak. Hmm. He could have sworn it was directed at him...right? He looked at his surroundings and found no one, but when he looked down his eyes widened a bit. It was the little girl that had almost knocked him down in Charms. He grinned nervously and gave an awkward wave. "H-Hey." She wasn't going to shoot green light at him was she? "S-Sure," he said. Why was he nervous? It was just a little girl.

Hmm, but the height difference was a lot with him standing at 5'10".

He looked at her with raised his eyebrows. Why hadn't he been able to shut up? Probably she regretted accepting his request to dance. Well...he'd just have to make the best out of the dance. "Don't worry", he said and awaited further instructions by the professor.

"That sounds like a plan!" Faven responded. "Oh don't you know it!!!" she said, joining in on his laughter! "That would be the coolest walze in the world!!!!!"

Aspen smiled pleasantly, not exactly oblivious to her partner's shyness but choosing not to outwardly notice. She tended to be shy, too, and when people pointed it out - it always made it worse. To his question, Aspen offered a nod. Yep. Dance partners.

"If you had to guess, what exactly is the purpose of this? Wizards and witches preserving traditions? Physical activities? Or...," Aspen cast a glance to the Professors. Perhaps another motive was afoot?

Jayden cleared her throat.... "Erm... anyone still need a partner? I know how to dance..." She said, hoping that someone still needed a partner.. she didn't want to dance alone...

Daichi was glad that his partner wasn't THAT bigger than him. He was still smaller but only by a few inches. He looked at the hand and with a smile he took it. "n-nice to meet you too" He just wished his uncomfortable stuttering would stop.

"I'm a second year" He looked around the gazebo as others partnered up too. "Slytherin" he added and looked back at Adelyn with a faint blush on his cheeks this time. Why did he have to partner up? He didn't want to...but he couldn't ignore an elder's order right? This smells. "D-do you know how to dance?" He asked , hoping that his partner was a fair enough dancer.

Isobel grinned at Sammy's mention of the Giant Squid. "I know what you mean, there need to be more boys at this school. I know..." she counted in her mind; Damien, Jake, Treyen, Simon..."Five boys, that I can think of at this time." Her next question was, 'how many boys do you know Sammy?' She hoped she would get that from her statement, but if she didn't Isobel would ask, because she was curious.

"Uh...I don't know." How did the dance differ if you were the girl or the guy?

Samuel was clueless about dancing, he actually did not remember how he got here. "Sure I will dance with you," Samuel said with a smile.

Eris looked around with an is-anybody-out-there expression.

"Erm.....anyone still needing a partner?" she asked with a slight eyebrow raise.

"Yay Samuel! And I was just starting to get desperate...." Jayden said seriously. "So where have you been? I haven't seen you in a while..."

His embarrassment and stuttering was a little adorable; she grinned, thinking about how she used to be like that. She shook his hand and then let hers drop back down to her side.

"I'm a fifth year. Gryffindor." She replied, watching as he looked away and then turned back, blushing. She tucked her curls behind her ear, before looking around the gazebo herself. Did the professor expect them to just start? "Yeah, I know how to dance. I've been taking lessons back home for a while, actually. Do you?"
