Different types of ballroom dances? Eino thought there was only dance you could do in the ballroom and that was waltz. Maybe the other types of dances were ballroom dances but he just didn’t know it, so to play it safe, he would suggest whatever he knew. Maybe he would be right. Eino raised his hand. "The waltz is a ballroom dance."

BanaBatGirl 09-11-2011 01:01 AM

Dancing was a form of exercise? Huh. Tori would have never thought of that. Having no dance experience herself, she had to raised her hand and guess at the next question the groundskeeper asked.

"Types of ballroom? You mean like, the foxtrot?"

samthehpfreak 09-11-2011 01:03 AM

OH! Sammy knew this sort of stuff. She watched Dancing with the stars occasionally. For once it actually seemed like a decent use of her time. So the blonde quickly raised her hand and said "The tango?" Yeah. She was totally professional. Completely and utterly profesh. Unless she had to demonstrate, then she was screwed, big time. With her two left feet that could only end badly.

Presley Black 09-11-2011 01:04 AM

Presley raised her hand again. Of course she knew. She knew almost anything and everything about dancing. But he'd said to name one. "There's the Paso Doble," she answered. Why had he given everybody else who answered points, and not her? That was vaguely upsetting. He hadn't even addressed her. Rude. She probably knew more than anybody else in the class. And she'd been completely ignored.

DH Vixen 09-11-2011 01:08 AM

Having just sat back and remained quiet just listening to everyone, Mina slowly raised her hand. She had heard Eino mention the waltz, but she wanted to add another type. "There's also the Viennese Waltz as well," she voiced.

OOC: Please only post ONE type of dancing in your post. I'm looking for around fifteen different types. If you list a bunch, I will only take the first one in the list.

Ryden raised her hand. This was rather simple, wasn't it?

"Rumba, sir," she said, then lowered it again. If she was HERE, she might as well help her house get out of the embarrassing negatives it was currently in. Ugh. At least they weren't SLYTHERIN.

Mwahaha.

SlytherclawPoet 09-11-2011 01:09 AM

Types of ballroom dances huh. Hmm, well that took a second for Matt to consider before he raised his hand and waited his turn to speak. "Well, there's the Lindy Hop." Something which was also considered to be categorized under the Swing Dancing category, but either way that was much more interesting than the formal ballroom dancing in his opinion at least. Do not bring up Swing Dancing again.. people are going to get suspicious that you know more than they think you know about that. Yes it was a well kept secret that he had studied dance while he was at Rygal but it seemed as though people would end up finding that one out soon enough. Especially if had involved certain forms of ballroom that he studied among hip hop and tap.

Maybelle struggled not to do a happy dance, she earned two points for her house. She thought for a moment, not really knowing what styles of ballroom there are. She then raised her hand. "Is swing dancing a type of ballroom?" She asked, not entirely sure.

Oh they were naming ballroom dances? Who could name one? Eira's hand raised before she really thought about it. There were many kinds , many that she knew herself for sure. She could quote a list , but he has only asked for one and there were plenty of others to answer as well , so where would be the fun in doing that? "The Samba is a rather fun ballroom dance , Sir." Eira chimed in politely between the others , lowering her hand once she had finished speaking and smiled. She was getting quite comfy on her lonely little patch of cement and actually starting to be glad that she had joined in on the class.

Smirking, Marilyn raised her hand. "The Viennese Waltz, sir..."

It was her absolute favorite of all the Ballroom dances. There was so much FIRE and PASSION involved. It was the most honest of all the dances, simply because within the passion, there was always truth.

The way two bodies moved together was never a lie.

Jai remember one that was close to salsa,"The Cha- Cha is a type of Ballroom dance." he said."Very saucy and fun dance that one."

He was starting to enjoy this class except the part where Professor Stryker told him that there was public dancing involved. He glanced at Caroline and thought it was worth it.

MoviegoerKinz 09-11-2011 01:28 AM

Rafe raised his hand and tried to think of an answer that hadn't been said yet. "The jive I think... it was started by the Yanks across the pond." Though he didn't really think of it as a ballroom type dance, but it was worth a shot. It wasn't as elegant as some of the other dances mentioned.

Anna Banana 09-11-2011 01:31 AM

Sierra put her hands halfway in the air as if she was silently asking 'What'd I do?' The groundskeeper was already giving her looks, and she hadn't even been in class but a solid minute! Now, now, Mr. Stryker. You know we mean so harm. Sometimes.

"There's slow dancing," she said, raising her hand. "You know, like when you twirled me out here on the grounds last school year..." As in, ...he twirled her; and that was it. Done. Finite. That was all she knew about ballroom dancing. She was thirteen; not forty-eight.

feeheeheeny 09-11-2011 01:49 AM

Max's hand went up again, this time after much thought. He had heard of one that hadn't been mentioned. "The... quickstep, I think? That's one, right? The name is pretty self-explanatory." That's the only reason he could recall it. It was simple.

"Any more?"

Isabelle raised her hand. One ballroom dance she knew was the waltz but she thought many people would say that so she thought hard. Thinking back to that Muggle tv show, Dancing With the Stars. Ah yes the foxtrot. "Well there is the foxtrot sir," she said with a slight smile on her face. Then she thought of Latin dancing was that ballroom. Isabelle didn't know but decided not to ask.

"Is one of them the East Coast Swing?" Eino suggested after he had raised his hand and received permission to speak. He didn't know much about dancing, but he did fence and he entered tournaments all over the world and a lot of fencers also happened to be dancers, so he learned a few things along the way. Now he wished he had actually remembered them, especially since this had happened frequently this past summer.

BanaBatGirl 09-11-2011 02:08 AM

"Would you be talking about West Coast Swing, which is a twist on the Lindy Hop?" Tori answered, raising her hand again. Woo. Now she only had -4 points for Slytherin!

Mickey Darley 09-11-2011 02:11 AM

Mickey was sitting in the corner ankle still in too much pain to even try to comprehend standing never mind dance. She raised her hand "Jitter-bug." It is one right? At least she thought it was. A jazz oriented ball-room dance. Mickey waved over at Jayden and smiled.

Eira was thrilled to earn her house a point. Who knew that being forced to learn lady like things would help at a wizarding school? Anything she could do the help her house was good so she would use what she had to the fullest....this was kind of fun too. Next Mr. Stryker said that they could earn a point for naming the two different types of swing?

Just as last time she raised her hand before she spoke and hoped that it was an open question to everyone.....she didn't want to intrude , but she did want points for her house. " Would you be referring to Ballroom Swing and Jazz Dance Swing , Sir?"

There were many swing dances but only two types of swing that she knew of. Hopefully that was indeed what he was asking for.

Kimalia now had the familiar image of her parents dancing together happily, "They know the Charleston and some Salsa, though my mum's better at it than dad." Kimalia paused after hearing his next question to the class, "I do like the Charleston, it looks easier to learn."

littledhampir 09-11-2011 02:23 AM

Isobel knew a bunch of different dances, but when they had to be specifically ballroom dances, it was a little harder. She could think of two; the waltz and the Tango. She thought the tango was amusing, so she decided to say that. She raised her hand before saying, "The Tango."

Then he wanted two different types of swing? Isobel thought really hard. A few years ago her aunt had gone through a phase where she was obsessed with dances and she had taken all kinds of dance classes. She had tried to tell Isobel all about it, but her 12-year-old self had not been interested. Now she wished she had paid a little but more attention. She thought she could remember two, but she was not completely positive. One she knew, she other she was not sure about. She decided to try to answer anyway. "The Lindy Hop," that was the one she was sure about, "and the Charleston." At the end of her sentence she added the slight infliction of a question, because she really had no idea.

Jayden saw that Mickey was at the dance class too! She smiled happily and waved... "Hello!" She mouthed silently at the girl .
