There was one slight advantage to looking like you belong to either gender Eris had just realized, well actually, there was more than just one, but at the moment, should she turn just to her right, the young witch could easily be la mademoiselle dancing with Will. Then again, turning to her left, with her obvious boyish features, she could dance with Janice as le monsieur and even in a even gender setting, no one would give the pair a second glance. Was this a particularly good thing on her part? All just depends on your view, she for one grinned in enjoyment that she had options. "Who wants to go first?" The dark haired witch grinned, this was gonna be fun. |

"So, Capoeira, huh? I'm impressed," she told her with a smile. "When we were in Brazil I developed this massive crush on this guy who did it. He was totally hot." "And of course you would have found a guy. You're pretty," Lauren stated in a matter of fact tone. |

"Erm...Let's just start...maybe?..." Placing her one foot just a tad closer to his and drawling the other back, Marilyn held his hand a bit more securely. She tilted her upper-body back in the classic Waltz form, allowing for the arch between the arms... Warning! This is a BAD idea, Marilyn! |

Folding her arms crossly, Tori stared down the girl until she conceded to taking the second dance. GOOD. "That works for me," Tori announced in a fake cheery voice. "Thanks for being such a team player, Stella," she added sweetly, turning to August and positioning him the way Mr. Stryker had asked them to. "You ready to dance?" Without waiting for a response, Tori took charge and placed one of August's hands on her back, holding his other up in the air. "Now, how do we move our feet again?" This was just awkward enough standing still. Would they really have to add movement to it all?! |

The teen watched as Harlow took something from her purse. Hey! Those would totally work and his back wouldn't have to suffer. "That's a great idea!" The best. He helped her up and...well, they weren't eye to eye, but it made it MUCH easier for Kennedy. "At least we don't have to worry about me stepping on your foot," he chuckled. Yes, that was that part that had worried him the most. He took her hand and grinned. She was so little. Gah, he almost sounded like a girl. His eyes roamed around the place and saw other people with their partners. "What do we do now?" he thought aloud. |
Text Cut: Treyen Treyen was biting his lip! Again! It was sooooo strange to see him do that. Really. Though Ellie thought she knew the reason why this time. And it wasn't for the majority of the reasons she ever bit her lip. It wasn't because he was uncomfortable and it wasn't because he was upset and it wasn't because he was thinking. It was something else. Hehe. Mademoiselle? No, Ellie didn't like that too much. But for the sake of following Stryker's exact instructions. Heh. And because she'd called him 'monsieur' first, she'll let it go. There were worse things he could be calling her. That, though. That was something else she agreed with. She liked this too... Wait. No. THAT she didn't like. Him being taller. But, you know, if she stood on her toes, she might be taller. Or break even. She wasn't going to do that, though. Not yet. Instead she smiled, "Congratulations. See, a lot has changed from when we were twelve." Height was the least important, honestly. |
sorry it took a while - dinner + stuff came up Quote:
"Er" India started, blushing even more. She was lost for words. He was a rather attractive guy - "I'm India Johanson" she smiled her soft australian accent trilling through her words. "I-I would love to, it would be better than Chip here...my imaginary dance partner" she patted the air next to her and smiled. Awkward. |

Rafe took in a deep breath. He stepped forward on his left foot, "One," he whispered. Then he stepped with his right foot to the side, "Two," and then drew his feet together, "Three." He was trying to create the rise and fall of the waltz as gracefully as possible and couldn't help, but finding himself looking at his feet from time to time. The more he preceded to dance, the more he stopped counting and could look comfortably into Marilyn's eyes. |
Eira had no idea who she could or should be dancing with. She didn't really see anyone she knew too well. No one was close to her lonely little patch of cement to ask , she didn't know where she wanted to wander to ask either. So she began to glide on her own , by herself , much like usual. Just like practice , she danced with a 'ghost' partner....also known as....an imaginary friend dancer. She had danced with boys before , but she had no inclination to approach a boy creature she didn't know and ask him to dance with her. She was accustomed to the boy creatures asking her. She was fine with dancing with another girl or by herself so really it didn't bother her too much. |

Auggie never really had hung out with girls much before so as long as they weren't tackling or yanking each other's hair then things seemed to be going ok in his eyes. "Well then I will dance with you in just a few moments then Stella." he said with a grin. "I wonder when we will be starting?" the Gryffindor had begun looking again towards the Groundskeeper dude up front. Quote:
Quote:
"We are so lucky! I know this dance" Auggie said excitedly, but before he could do anything, Tori had already whipped her hand into his and his other on her back, yanking them into position. "Oh um well." August adjusted his color a tad nervously and then returned his hand to her's. "Ok when do we start?" he said looking around at the other students' groups. Were they supposed to just stand there? |

Relax...its just like a hug...almost "Its not too bad," he admitted trying to help her not feel subconscious about her height and how things looked between them with their differences. Even if it gave them both something to think about other then the fact that would be dancing with each other. "Besides...its not like I'm complaining. And my own height does contribute to everything," he added offering a small smile at her as he did his best to appear calm and not as nervous as his stomach proved to be. The guy did have to lead after all. |
Faven looked around herself awkwardly...Where on earth was Justin...ohhh no oh no! Did I scare him off! You really did it this time Faven! Who was she going to dance with now??? And just when the Professor was having them begin to practice with a partner! |
Text Cut: Ellie XD Finally! He had other things to think about, and the one person he had to thank for that was Ellie, because he took in her expression. It was hard to miss, especially since his eyes seemed to think no other place was worth looking at. "You don't like it when Mr. Stryker speaks French, do you? I find it incredibly amusing, especially when you try to do so," he was doing this on purpose, by the way, talking about Stryker, because it helped his mind. Eyebrow raised. Oh, come on! Congratulations? The boy rolled his eyes and chuckled just a little, "Thank you? Don't even try to step on your toes, by the way. Try not to ruin this for me? At least for one dance." Which is all they were going to do in here, correct? Just one dance, or were they meant to change partners at one time and practice something else. He knew he heard something about switching something but he was completely lost back then, so he had no idea what Mr. Stryker had meant. He still held her close to him, as if he was never going to let go, BUT the grip on her was almost non-existent, or rather...lightly, as if she was something that he needed to treat with the utmost care. That wasn't so far from the truth, because ONE single word could make her mood turn upside down. Yet that ONE single word described how she was looking right now. |
Dance? No can't do. Ezra parked himself away from the cluster of dancing baboons, keeping a watchful eye on their moves in case on of the crazy primates gets hurled at him. He hated to be this way but Merlin, him getting his groove on could only lead to something catastrophic. Hence, the hatred. |

Anyone who needs a partner can join Kenzi and Paulie :) Quote:
"Ouch, that still sounds bad," Paulie commented as he subconsciously flexed his ankles. At least if you broke an arm or something, you weren't actually walking on it. Those poor muggles and those crutches. "So, how'd ya do that?" It was a little strange, standing in position to dance, but not actually dancing. He felt rather silly, to be honest, and the corners of his mouth turned up in a small smile. He hoped he smelled good. Did he put that spray stuff on after his shower? Ehh, he had probably forgotten, like usual. He looked at Kenzi, who seemed to mirror a bit of his nervousness, and he mustered a reassuring smile. "Hopefully it's easier than it looks, huh?" Maybe..... His bluish-greenish, whatever color his eyes were, skimmed around at the other students around him, some paired up and a few - due to the lack of boys - who weren't. If they wanted to join into his and Kenzi's little team, then he had no qualms about that. |
SPOILER!!: Aspen Hopefully, Aspen wasn't upset that Eino hadn't bowed and asked for permission to hold her. He hadn't even realized how awfully rude that was until they were finally position and ready to waltz. She didn't seem like the girl that would care, unless they were in a formal setting maybe, but then he wouldn't have forgotten. Nonetheless, he really needed to improve his courting and whatnot skills, even if it was just for the sake of sounding fancy. Maybe he should start referring to her as mademoiselle as the groundskeeper did to Professor Bentley. "I feel like a chicken with my elbows poking out." He shared when the girl mentioned the awkwardness of the position they were in. He could just start flapping his arms and he would look like one, too. She had a good point, though. They didn't need to worry too much about this since they wouldn't be tested on it, but part of Eino always wanted to try his hardest and do his best, even at the silliest and most useless things. "I do believe we are doing very well thus far." He continued just so there wouldn't be any of those awkward silence moments while they waited for further instructions. They were doing very well, but they hadn't done much, so there really hadn't been many opportunities to mess up so far. |

She only hoped he didn't take it as an open invitation... "The most basic Waltz begins with the Closed position and changes into the Natural turn..." She hoped them already dancing was okay. She in NO WAY wanted to lose more points. Ugh, it was just so embarrassing...and as a Seventh Year, unacceptable. |

Heh, well, it was good that she was having a good day! "Ohhh, you know, I am just hereeee....holding your hand. Working up what is left of my dignity to teach the dance. Nothing major." Were the students ready yet? Quote:
His attention then turned to the class. "Soooo..." Now what? Oh lord. "Why not take some time to move around the room with your partner, maintaining your dance stance? There is no need to do anything fancy. Just...if he is to move his right leg forward, la mademoiselle's left leg to move back. Vice versa if he is to move his left leg forward. Same if you wish to move sideways. The key is to make sure you are in sync, so...talk to each other. Communicate where you wish to go. Now...go!" He turned his attention back to Seren. "Shall we?" ooc: I apologize for not posting a whole heck of a lot. I do hope you guys are still enjoying the class, though. I gotta scootle to bed, though. 9 am class tomorrow. >.< (it's currently 12:38 am XD) |

"Uh, well let's see...I believe I was trying to run away from my crazy great aunt when I tripped over one of the giant rocks in the backyard." She laughed, relaxing a bit. "What about you? Ever broken anything?" Mackenzi looked down at their feet. "Hopefully..." she agreed, silently praying to herself that shw didnt step on her partners feet. How embarassing would that. She'd be known as Toe Crusher or something like that! " I'm guessing a little bit od dan e background, whether it's ballroom or not, is helpful." She looked up as Mr. Stryker began to talk again. So right foot back if his left came forward, and vice versa. Okay...sounds simple enough. "Well, should we start?" |
Quote:
"Yeah, one of the guys in the crew I'm in back in New York is Brazilian and his brother taught him, and he taught me." She replied smiling. "I figured, I like music and I like sports, so why not? And I hated it instintly because it was so hard, but once I got in shape enough for it, I loved it! And the bonus...I've got a nice toned tummy now." She said jokingly, even if it was true. "But Tribal! That's something I've never done before. Can you teach me?" She asked Lauren hoping she'd say yes. "Well, you're beautiful, there's no chance a guy wouldn't want to be your partner, and thank you by the way." She stated, still smiling, like always, she was just a cheerful person. SPOILER!!: Mr. Teach =) Orchid nodded at Mr. Stryker before she turned to face Lauren again, making sure they were in the right position. "Okay, so I guess I'll start by going forward three steps, left one, backwards two, make two right turns, and then go forward again. You follow?" She asked hoping she did, she really only did it like this cause she wasn't used to leading dances like this and she didn't want to step on her feet. So, after that little explination she started to lead them and with surprising grace and composure as well. |

"I'm sure you're not as hopeless as I am, no matter what that teacher said." Then again, it would amusing to see who was the most hopeless. Seren found herself relaxing now that the situation didn't seem so serious or dire.. It was a fun lesson after all. And yet again Chad managed to make her laugh. "You'll have plenty of dignity left, and I'm always willing to share what will be left of mine." She wasn't looking forward to her next class now. She could just imagine what the students would say... even if they were only joking. Seren looked around at the students again. Maybe if they were bad enough, she would be let off the hook. She certainly hoped that was the case. Seren listened to Chad's instructions. Well she could do that. Couldn't she? Even if they took their time. Moving in sync, without having to remember steps sounded simple enough. "Absolutely," she replied with a bright smile. Let the madness begin. "So... which way are we moving?" she asked uncertainly. He would lead, would he not? |

As Rafe was about to turn left he twisted the base of his rib cage and snapped his hips around to increase the momentum of the spin, making the turn look more sharp and lively. He was starting to feel more comfortably, relaxed and began preceding his movement more into a lean. Rafe smiled. This definitely wasn't hip hop, but there was something very elegant about the movements he enjoyed. He then decided to take a risk and lift her arm and gave her a spin before moving back into the movement. He almost lost his footing, but quickly recovered. "I hope that was okay?" He grinned awkwardly. |
