Simon looked at the Professor, he was unhappy he had been told to shut up, he was only answering a question that the Professor was answering it, the Professor shouldn't ask question if he didn't want too know, the Professor was weird with his crazy accent. "Professor are you trying to say that every future starts of with a past then has a present and then have a future."

? was exactly what Serena was thinking. Was this a French Lesson? She hated tenses... "Erm, does it show that there are three tense, which float around... and... erm... do stuff?" Serena sank back into silence, slowly turning red.

Heh? Alright well Nika was clearly lost. She tried to scribble down some notes, but they were not really clear. This guy's accent was too thick for her to catch any of the conversation. As if she was bad enough at the subject! She made a mental note to go look up the chapters in the book before bed. Maybe she could do some self-teaching?

Vashti studied the runes that were laid out, trying to recall each of them and their meanings and how they could be applied to life. She finally gathered her thoughts after a bit of silence and raised her hand.

"Thurisaz can represent conflict, so perhaps you have been faced with an opposition of some sort," she began, "but it could also mean catharsis, or the purging of your emotions, so maybe because of this conflict you were able to release some pent up emotions. That sort of leads up to Kenaz, which can represent insight, wisdom, and enlightenment - all things you could have gained from your past conflict and catharsis. And Nauthiz..." She paused, staring at the upside-down rune, uncertain how to proceed. "Professor, since it's upside down, does that mean it's reversed? Or is that something completely different?" She really didn't remember reading about that at all, and she felt extremely foolish not knowing about it. She decided to proceed with her answer anyway and take two different ways the rune could be read.

"If it does mean it's reversed, then Nauthiz can mean that you may lack or be deprived of something in your future. If it isn't actually reversed, then it can mean conflict or distress but also endurance, so more bad things could happen, like in the past, but you should be able to endure it." Hopefully some of all that was right or at least on the right track. Trying to remember and analyze and apply all this to life and tell the future and what not was starting to make her head hurt a little.

"Well Thurisaz means chaos so I guess you're past was chaotic and things were a muck. However your presemt is kenaz which means learing, so I guess you are learining new things now to improve your life now. And latly nauthiz in the oposite direction could mean there is some thing in your life now that is keeping you trapped. You want to break out and do something else but you are stuck, Thats kinda sad, "Chloe responed with her hand raised high.

Charlie was excited that they were finally getting to use and look at runes. The lessons had been thoery until now. She strained her ears to listen to the Professor as his accent was quite jarring. She understood though and listened to other answers. Charlie went to raise her hand but most people had answered what she was going to say that Past, Present and Future were connected and runes can show their meanings. She sat still and waited for the next question. She would answer quickly then she thought.

"Not vat I vas askink." He said coldly.

"Vat I am sayink is zat if you in ze PAST read your schedule correctly, in ze PRESENT you'd know that Runes and Ruines are not ze same zings, and vould have prevented ze fact zat in ze FUTURE, I vill groan at your answers."

He smiled. He was joking around...

Ok, now he was not going to quit his job to become a teacher...

"No. not right answer."

"Ahh see? I am... uhmm ze vord you use iz... zneaky?" He laughed at himself thinking it hilarious!

He didn't like her... she'd just spoiled his sneaky fun. Now he had to teach.

He turned to the rest of the class. "Ja, my zneaky vas for you to discover zat Nauthiz rune, although upside down, cannot be physically reversed. However, you may draw a rune Merkstave. Zat means, dependink on ze context, you may use ze reverse meanink of it. Kenaz and Thurisaz are also not reversable, but in right context, can be merkstave." He smirked.

"Zo really, ze meaninks of my past and present may not be ze ones you say zey are, because zey may be merkstave." He shrugged. "Zat is vy rune readink iz not an accurate science... iz just guidance of a possible outcome."

"Pair up. Ask question to your bag or runes and draw out one (1) rune, ze Odin rune, and interpret ze meanink for one anozer, answerink zat question. If ze rune is not reversable, give both meaninks and zen see which aswer iz better."

ooc: Merstave is a complicated what to read a non reversable rune. Nauthiz is the only rune that is non reversable, but that you can tell when it's upside down. All three of the runes Tristan drew are non reversable, but can be read as merstave. If you know the situation the person you are reading for is in, that can help the reading... if you do not then it will be harder to read.

A one rune reading is simple. You pose a question to the runes and after you pull one out of the bag, you interpret it. If you get an non reversable rune, give both meanings, and then figure out which is the better to use. If it's the reverse meaning, then your rune was drawn merkstave.

Mehh, Zara was not liking this class. She didn't understand a thing. Except for the runes and meanings. GAAAAAHHHHHH, what was the man saying? Zara slumped in her seat, waiting for what's next? She should get a partner now, right? Yes? No? WHAT?!

Maybe she should wait for a partner. Yeaaah.

Zneaky? Sneaky? What?

Even if it wasn't really really funny, Helena giggled.

But then he spoke again... and understanding the man's accent seemed more difficult than ever. Helena didn't quite understand what exactly they had to do, but she'll have to look for someone who'd want to be her partner. Yup, that was the first step.

Eino took a bag of runes and approached a Slytherin girl who seemed to be searching for a partner. "Hello." He said as he took down a seat next to her. "Would you like to be my partner?" He probably should have asked before he sat down, but hopefully she would agree to pairing up with him. "I've got some runes." He said shaking the bag slightly as an incentive to encourage her to agree... That way she would have to get one herself. That was a good incentive, right?

Ze what?

Samira was confused.

She looked around the class room in search of someone to pair up with. Preferably someone smart. "Anyone wanna pair up?!" she called to the class.

Must. Find. Partner. Right, three words. Zara finally began to sit up straight and look around in search of a partner. Probably someone who had an idea what to do because Zara really can't understand what the professor was saying.

Searching...and searching.

Again, Sierra just stared at the man. She was...yeah, lost. Now they were expected to pair up?! ...and do what? Ugghhh. She was terrible at Ancient Runes. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Riiiiight. She would not be signing up for this next year. Or the next. Or the next, etc., etc., etc.

...but she was here now, sooo...what to do? Hmm. Then a thought occurred to her. Why sit here and struggle to figure this out when Hollingberry over there could do a reading using words like emotional hunger?

Looking over at Hollingberry, and with the most innocent and friendly smile it was possible for her to give, she said, "Hey, Kurumi, would you like to be my partner?" Yeahhh. Why didn't she think to do this before?

"Zara, will you pair up with me?" William asked her, " Two heads are better than one" William told Zara. " Do you think the professor means the Rune he is talking about or a Rune we should choose together?" William asked Zara.

Still looking around for a partner, Helena suddenly noticed someone talking to her. She looked up and saw a Ravenclaw boy, but she didn't know him. "Hi," she said, smiling, and... he was already sitting down next to her.

To Helena's relief, he was looking for a partner as well. "Sure." And he had... some runes? What runes? Uhh... she REALLY needed to try more and understand whatever professor Christiansen was talking about. Maybe she missed something? "I just hope that you know exactly what we have to do." Because... for the first time, she felt LOST.

Simon had no idea what the Professor was saying, he was speaking in one weird accent, he wanted to ask the Professor where he was from because it sounded like he was not from this earth, maybe he was from Pluto or somewhere else, looking around he looked for someone to partner with but he had no idea who to ask so he just sat there doing nothing.

What was she suppose to dooooooo?!?! Everyone else seemed lost as well, so there was really no point in copying. Really, did anyone understand this? Sighing, she got up and moved towards and older looking boy. "Um, hi." She bit her lip and looked around. "Are you just as lost as I am?" Probably.

After her agreement to work with him, he took her hand and shook it violently. "Nice to meet you, I'm Eino." Now that introductions were out of the way, it was time to get busy. She seemed a little confused, but then again everyone did, including himself. He shrugged. "I do believe we are supposed to talk to the bag." He explained as he brought the bag up to her face and shook it slightly again. "And ask it for runes." He shrugged again and placed the back on top of the desk. He didn't mind talking to the bag, but he wasn't very confident when it came to reading runes so hopefully he wouldn't mess up. "Then we interpret the rune we get from it." He had brought his notes with him so he could always refer to those in case he had forgotten their meanings, which was very likely.

Aurora looked around the room for someone to pair up with, her concentration had wandered and she was absolutely and utterly lost. "Does anyone want to pair up with me?" she asked the room in general.

Simon was suprised when this Slytherin Girl talked to him, then she asked if he was as lost as she was that is when he smiled. "I am more lost than two penguins who decided to go on holiday to the north pole and ended up in the sahara desert." Simon smiled. "Anyway my name is Simon Leonarder De Simpson but you can call me Simon." He smiled. "Want to Partner up?" Well he might as well ask.

Uhh... Helena didn't quite expect that rather... unexpected handshake. Unexpected. She couldn't find another word for it. But... was she forgetting something? Oh, names. "It's nice to meet you too. I'm Helena."

"Alright. Talk to the bag," she repeated, nodding. After Eino's instructions, everything seemed clear. And the interpreting part... it felt like Divination. "What should we tell... it?" If sounded weird, thinking about talking to an object. A bag.

Samira had to laugh at the analogy. This guy was funny. She gave a small smile. "Nice to meet you, Simon." Hm, and she thought her name was long. "I'm Samira Sapphirre Spinks, but you can call me Samira." She rocked back on her heels and smiled again. "Sure. We might as well be lost together." She glanced around. "So, are we suppose to have a list of Runes or something?"

Simon smiled. "Nice to meet you Samira." Simon looked at the board. "Well I was thinking more like we just pick a runes and then I think we give a description but I'm not 100% sure so we could just pick a few and give a description for them." Simon was thinking now. "What do you think?" He decided to let Samira have a say.

Eino nodded in response to her introduction. "I suppose you would want to begin by greeting 'hello' and asking 'how do you do, mister bag?'" Although, the main part was to ask for a rune, but maybe this would help the bag give out nice runes instead of nasty ones. Well, regardless of what kind of meaning they had, so long as they were easy to read he would be satisfied. "Go on." He encouraged Helena to begin her conversation with the bag. Eino considered naming the bag first, but it would be rather rude if the bag already had a name and that could result in difficult runes so he sat quietly and waited for Helena to begin.

"All right," clearly Simon was slightly ahead of Samira on the thinking scale. "What about...the Odin rune?"
