Loud, blaring music can be heard coming from the open Transfiguration classroom. It's beckoning you to enter....?
Shaw, dressed in a long alligator skin cloak, has seated himself in a desk at the back of the room. The desk is turned so that he can see everyone that enters and no one will ever be at his back. He's removed his hat and his head shines a little from the incoming sunlight. The rest of the room is typical: desks in rows, chalkboard, books, dust.
No directions are given, no friendly smiles. Enter if you're up for learning a little something something from Shaw. But I wouldn't interrupt until the song was over if I were you...
Dropping his quill, Theodore clapped his hands over his ears roughly at the sound of the whistle. Quite the loud one, Shaw was, although the Ravenclaw would never admit it. His grades were at stake, here! Lowering his hands, a smirk formed on his face at the professor's mention of Team Shaw. That included Theo! His eyes skimming his work, Theodore stood up, his chair scraping along the floor loudly. Making his way up to Shaw, slowly and carefully for fear of what he would do, Theodore stopped about two feet away and extended his arm out completely, covering the distance between the professor and himself. "Here you go, uh, Shaw," Theodore attempted to sound nonchalant, his American-accented voice remaining steady as fear momentarily flashed through his eyes.

Kurumi looked up after adding Nika's wand movement suggestion to see a first year, several really, looking a bit lost. "We are making our own spells," Kurumi called gently to the poor confused group. "If you want, you can join us. We are thinking of wand movements to match the spells we have already come up with."
She beckoned the first years to come join her and the rest of Team Shaw.
"I'm Kurumi, and this is Selina. Selina knows a lot of Latin, so she is helping make spells. This is Nika, a second year. That is Patroclus, your male prefect and next to him is Josh and Legend."
Ginny felt like slapping her hand to her forehead. Duh, they were making their own spells, a small voice in Ginny's head said. "Hello everyone," Ginny waved, and smiled sheepishly. "Well, seeing as I know so much about wand movements," she teased sarcastically. "Couldn't we just do some cool flicekry movements?" Ginny demonstrated, smiling, no doubt looking like an absolute weirdo. Even though she'd only been to a few classes, she already liked this one a lot.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

"Team Cow? You have anything?"
"No more work, no more Latin. Bring up what you have."
Shaw, we're not team cow. We're TEAM ODIN'S CUPCAKE BEATERS. I thought Gravity Cows were bad?
Oakey looked at his team of Hufflepuffs and two Ravenclaws. He had to do something quick. so on his desk he wrote down above his Latin notes

Oakey was extremely nervous with these results. He looked at each of the girls in the group. Being the only guy he felt it his responsibility to hand the notes to Shaw. If it ended up badly he will take the blame as well.
he shoved the desk forward and looked at Shaw. I didn't have parchment on me so I wrote on the desk...I'll clean it up after class if you want.
"I'll go hand this in then," she smiled nervously flicking her gaze back to the man.
Jumping to her feet, and with her right hand clutching her robe's fastener on her chest, she made her way to the front of the room with her group's parchment in the other hand.
She had to bite her tongue to not call the man Professor, which hurt quite a bit, and she handed the parchment to him.
"Here is the work we came up with on Team Shaw," Kurumi said hoping that he wouldn't mind that they hadn't come up with a few wand movements.

Zara suddenly remembered that her notes were incomplete. It didn't have the list of potential spells they had come up with. She said to Kurumi shyly, "Uhm, Kurumi. If you don't mind, could I borrow your notes later? I just wanted to copy our spells." She smiled sheepishly. Zara had wanted to have notes on everything, to review them soon even if they were just activities.

First aid kit:

That was an amazing list, even though it was quite incomplete. The only wand movement that was there was Jamie's pathetic idea for a jabbing technique. It would do, though. The third year brought up their list and handed it to Shaw timidly.
"Thank you, Greenies." Shaw took their parchment and put it with the others. He went to the board to write some stuff down. He used chalk this time.

Isobel frowned. "Um, Shaw, we're not Team Cow; we're Team Odin's Cupcake Beaters." Because cupcakes and beaters were awesome, and Odin was a person they were learning about in Ancient Runes. ANYWAY...She raised her hand, because she thought she knew the answer to this one. "The ones above the line all have 'verto' in there somewhere, and the ones below the line don't."

Nevermind. It was no use crying over spilled milk. Or rather, lost teams?
Just as he handed off his paper to Shaw, Theodore turned around to see a fellow Ravenclaw calling to him. He glanced at Shaw, then back to the girl. "Well, I just turned it in. I'm sorry; I just felt like working by myself." Shuffling back to his seat, his hand shot in the air at the professor's next question. "Do you mean switching spells, vanishing spells, and cross-species switches? Or are you referring to animate, inanimate, and animagus transfiguration?"

"I-I-I'm not a b-b-b-b-boy," Kurumi squeaked before covering her face with her parchment. Nor did she want to shave him.
Peeking around her parchment just in time to see him wave her away, she scampered back to her seat before he could gnaw on her, or her parchment, in the same manner he had the tea cup.

Selina was slightly afraid of this new Professor, but any teacher who encouraged the use of Latin in the classroom was a good Professor in her book. Although he was crazy....
When Kurumi returned to the table of Team Shaw she beamed at her friend. Their work was some of the best work Selina had done during Hogwarts. Because, simply, it had Latin in it. Kurumi sat down and Selina whispered to her, "You should be proud of that list. Lion scribe."
Shaw's voice boomed throughout the classroom. Selina sat to attention and listened to his question. He gestured to the board with the spells written on them and Selina rose her hand to answer his question, "Sir, Team Shaw and the Hufflepuffs both have dangerous spells. Like the weapons from team shaw and the poodle," shutter, "from Hufflepuffs. The green and the blues have helpful Transfiguration spells."

Raising her hand, she recited, "You drew a line between them to separate the two groups. This is because the first two groups (Team Shaw and Team Cow) created spells that turn one thing into another while the next two groups (Blue People and Greenies) had spells that conjure an object from thin air, without the need of turning one object into another." She guessed.
"The different types of transfiguration are the Conjuration, Transfiguration itself, Cross-species Transfiguration, and Animagus. There are other branches like the Human Transfiguration, Untransfiguration, Inanimate to Animate, and Animate to Inanimate."

When the coast was clear and Shaw felt reasonably comfortable enough to rejoin his class, he stood and crept out. "So I guess you all see the difference? It's all transfiguration, but all very different. It all takes a different set of skills, different mindset, and different array of items depending on what you're up to."
"Your task today wasn't to make up new spells. You're all about 12 years old or so and Shaw knows you don't know. But it's important to know where spells come from, how they originate. Transfiguration is some of the hardest magic out there and if you don't get them there basics, you won't ever get it. Like Josh and Team Shaw. They GOT it."
Shaw was proud of Team Shaw.
"Some of you might have achieved some of them there magic words though. We might at least get half results, which is half better than no results."
Without further ado, Shaw whipped his wand out and shed his alligator cloak once again. He cast a loud "Verto Canis" at the fallen cloak.
Though the cloak didn't change forms at all, it HAD sprung to life. The cloak barked and yelped and started "jumping" on students that had sat at the front of the room.

Scowling, the Slytherin girl closed her notebook and leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms, and kinda scooted closer to Josh. If that was even possible. Staring at his weird cloak, she waited for it to explode, and was highly disappointed when it didn't. Awww!

Selina suppressed the urge to laugh at his serious tone with the use of his name. She made a mental not to never be polite in his presence again. If he wanted just Shaw then she would call him Shaw. It was no skin off of Selina's back.
She nodded to him and said, "Just Shaw... got it, Shaw."
Then he explained the differences in transfiguration and Selina wrote down prolific notes. He was not a large orator, so any lecture he gave she made sure to write down.
But then something happened... one of the cloaks went crazy.

Ah Ummm.. It's not Team...Oakey began to say. But he stopped. There was no use, his group was now Team Cow (how intimidating) Shaw had gotten up and talked a bit more about transfiguring objects and what it meant.
Then came the moment of truth He said Oakey's spell that was written on the desk the piece of parchment. His cloak didn't change but still acted like a dog. It was funny(Oakey was glad he got up and moved to the back) but the spell Oakey wrote hadn't worked the way he thought it would.
He sank into his chair in disappointment.
What went wrong Shaw? Oakey asked Why didn't the coat completely change? was it his spell or the wand movement or was it something entirely different?
He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. He's insane. Aurora kept thinking this all through his talking. He hid behind the desk. He was crazy! She made a mental note to write to her parents about him, it would amuse them.
She folded her arms, sat back in her seat and glared at the front, watching the cloak pretend to be a dog.
Watching the cloak start jumping in the middle of class, Samira once again wondered what was going on through the man's mind. This was crazy! She wasn't even learning much. And what, exactly, is the purpose of sitting around and watching a cloak dance? As she watched "JUST SHAW" run and hide behind his desk, Samira started counting the minutes until class was over...
Looking down at her list, she frowned a bit when she saw that it was still a bit incomplete in terms of wand movements, but at least they had a good set of spells to show the man.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment

"Thank you Shaw, but erm..." Tayla began awkwardly. Didn't he see the Gryffindor crest on her and her companions' robes? "We're not the 'blues'. We're Gryffindors...the 'red'." And she smiled politely.

Tayla grinned widely, feeling very happy. "Woot! Team Shaw rocks!" Tayla smiled at her companions. They did a great job and Shaw obviously was happy about that. "I'm glad Shaw likes Josh, too." she thought, glancing at where Josh, the boy she had a crush on, was sitting.
The class was turning out to be a great one for Tayla. It was also a good thing she moved from the front of the room to join the other Gryffindors, otherwise that cloak thing would have attacked her.
I'm just one of those pretty little liars... | | I'm held down in this starless city...

So... SHAW, who was talking about Shaw in the third person, wanted them to know how to... guess the spells? If that made sense. But it did actually, if you really needed a spell and knew how to guess it. Who knows, it might come in handy some day.
And... what was Verto Canis supposed to do?
It didn't matter anymore.
BECAUSE HIS CLOAK WAS BARKING AND JUMPING ON STUDENTS.
It was a good thing that Helena was not sitting in the front, but still... she was terrified of what the freaky cloak could do. And why wasn't Shaw stopping it? And what if it was coming after her?
Without further ado, Shaw whipped his wand out and shed his alligator cloak once again. He cast a loud "Verto Canis" at the fallen cloak.

This class was getting weirder by the minute. Is this some kind of a joke? Why was he hiding behind his desk!?! AND, why was his coat jumping all over the place? Uuuuhhhh! She was annoyed. She just felt bad for all the students in the front. She just sighed and wondered when the class was going to get over.

Zara grinned, she was proud of Team Shaw too. 'Alright, Team Shaw!' she thought in her head. Though she still wondered why Shaw was hiding behind his desk.
Then he came out already. Yeah, they were 12 year olds. Except for Zara. Nope, she was only 11. She listened as Shaw began explaining that they couldn't make exact spells since they were still young and a bunch of other stuff. It was true, what he said. Then he tried out one of the spells, named 'Verto Canis' which might've been to transfigure something to a dog. Because soon, the cloak he had cast the spell on became animate and started barking. It was dogs gone wild!
Luckily, Zara felt relieved that she wasn't up front. Nope, she was safe at somewhere near the middle-back of the room. She smirked as the cloak had jumped on those students up front. Hihi.

Cass slouched on her seat, ugh, she hated not knowing and not getting stuff. Maybe this was one of the things that headmaster mentioned?
Then she suddenly pulled her legs up into the chair when the coat suddenly started barking and jumping up near hear.
Gaah~ This was the last time she was sitting at the front of the class! First the chainsaw, now this?!
"Get it away from me!" She squeaked softly as she edged away from it.

Gavin looked at the teacher wide eyes. What in the world was he doing hidding behind his desk. But what came next actually made a lot more sense. Gavin took his journal and his quill and began to write some of what the teacher... Shaw... was saying.
He looked up just in time to see Shaw remove his cloak and make it bark. Now, that was interesting. Gavin had thought it would actually turn into a dog. Why hadn't it turned into a dog? he wondered.

One minute, Melina was sitting in the front row, sulking that she hadn't yet made it to Team Shaw. And I WILL, she thought with determination.
The next minute, all she saw was darkness, all she heard was barking, and all she felt was... was she being attacked by a cloak?!?!?!?!?!
Cloak...jumping...on...me. Get...it...off!
It smelled of the Florida Everglades, and sweat, and something she was sure was some type of very strong alcohol. Could it bite? Melina wasn't waiting to find out.
"GET! OFF! ME!!!" she screamed, and gripped her wand furiously. She shouted "Oculumbrus!!!" and, to her surprise, she was suddenly sporting a fashionable pair of alligator-hide sunglasses. Wow, talk about INTENT.
She gazed through the darkened lenses at the desk behind which Shaw was hiding. How would he feel about this little development?
In her opinion, she should be promoted to Team Shaw.
