The box is acting as a barrier to keep the inhabitants of the classroom in, so be careful as you step over into the classroom. Watch that you don't stop on a cat. The room is full of CATS, most of them feral, hissing, and meowing, but a few might seem familiar to you ( HAVE you seen your kitty lately?).

Lexi would not stun Sir Kitty... or use any other such cruel spell. She scratched behind his little kitty ears and made kissy faces at him again. Raising her hand she said, "Fera Verto is the spell used to Transfigure animals into water goblets, sir." Lowering her hand she gave him a dirty look and went back to petting the docile kitty.

Nika raised her hand remembering talking about this last lesson. "Fera means animal and Verto means erm... 'I turn'," She said with a smile. That's it. Now to keep hold of this cat before it jumps out at Shaw. Nika was struggling to hold it. She could have just stunned it like Shaw told her to, but she didn't want to hurt the cat so she just pet it instead. Still the cat was hyper off catnip and it didn't really do much.
Nika took in a deep breath and then let out a small squeal as the cat jumped out of her arms. "EEEEEP!" Okay not good. Not good. Thankfully the cat didn't get too far so Nika was able to get up and pick it up easier than before when it was in the corridor. "Oops," She muttered as she looked at the cat sternly. "Hey listen you, if you don't want to be stunned then don't run away!"

Kurumi observed her cat as it began to snore. Clearly, the two dozen tuna fish cookies that it had eaten had made his belly full and had knocked him right out. Kurumi sure hoped that Walnut never found out about her feeding HIS cookies to another cat. Chances were that he would pee in Shaw’s shoes – never Kurumi’s.
Her attention turned away from the cat, whom she decided to name Buta (Japanese for pig), and towards Shaw when he began speaking. She remembered how she had struggled a little the first lesson understanding him, but now he seemed like Shakespeare compared to Mr. Viking. She was ALMOST willing to forgive him for nearly causing her to jump out of her robes in shock during the first lesson from the chainsaw.
“Fera verto comes from two Latin words,” she said as she raised her hand. “Fera means beast or animal whereas verto means transform or I turn.” She looked at the fat cat and tried not to giggle. Whatever it was she would be trying to turn the cat into would come out at least ten times the size of everyone else’s considering the cat was at least ten times larger than them. Noticing Eino’s cat, Kurumi had to wonder if massive amounts of fur, or lack thereof, would alter the results of the spell.

Evelyn was pretty much distracted, what with the stunning of that one cat, and then her own squirmy cat ruining her cloak, and then poof rolling around on her desk trying to take up as much room as possible...and then Shaw transfiguring the cat into a hat...
...Good Merlin, she hated transfiguration. "Something about animals and turning them into something...or something." she muttered, trying to get the squirmy and meowing cat to stop squirming and...meowing, resulting in her holding it down even more. JEEZ! Can it just RELAX! Look at Poof! She was practically asleep!
Wait..the cat did see Poof, and...it wasn't squirming anymore. Why...why were it's eyes all black now? And it's tail was all twitchy? For the love of Merlin, why was it making a crackling noise with it's mouth!? Poof never did that! Was this cat going to be sick!?

Selina had to restrain herself from clapping when Shaw asked another question about Latin. If Selina had it her way there would be Latin involved in every part of her education, alas people believed that Latin was a dead language (a myth) so it was not involved in the curriculum. The only reason Selina knew the language fluently was because her mother had made a point to teach her Latin growing up. That and Hebrew, so three languages were already under her belt.
Her hand shot up into the air so fast, "It literally means to "turn to an animal" but we use it at as a spell to transfigure an animal into a cup. So the meaning is slightly mixed up from the original interpretation. See if it was going by the original Latin the cases would mean that it would be an object turning into an animal, but it is the other way around..."
Selina was nerdy... little known fact.

She can name it whatever she wants! YEY! then maybe she can keep it? DOUBLE YEY! She'd have to ask Shaw later though if she can really keep the adoring thing.
She petted the cat that was resting in her arms. "I think i'll call you..Seraphina. You like that?" the cat continued to purr in her arms and she thought, maybe she did like the name of Seraphina. "Seraphina it is then. You'll get a collar soon." she giggled and looked up at Shaw as the lesson progressed.
Fera Verto...she heard of it before...what does it mean again? Ah...wait...isn't it something like transforming a creature into something else? "Tr-transforming an animal into something else?" she asked rather than answered. well, she was doubtful of her answer.

Theodore had settled down in his seat, Bree diligently waiting for his return and purring as he petted her. He had received multiple scratches on his forearms from helping Rod acquire a feral cat and as Shaw spoke, he sighed tiredly... until the professor's cat turned into a hat. :O

Lucas had gotten lucky -- Diego wasn't among the poor, cat-napped kitties. He was probably sleeping on Lucas's bed right now. Lucky him. Lucas kind of wished he could join Diego for a nap... Anyway, he'd managed to catch a rather cute cat. Not a kitten, but not a scary, wild cat either. Okay, yeah, he'd been pretty lucky today.
"Sorry, Kitty," he said before casting Petrificus Totalus quickly. "I feel kinda bad about that..." he said to the petrified cat. "But I've gotta make sure you don't move. By the way, I think I'm going to temporarily name you... Um... Well, I don't actually know if you're a boy or a girl, so how about a unisex name? Like... Taylor? Or something?" He looked at the cat. "Oh, Merlin, I'm speaking to a petrified cat. I need more friends."
He didn't know the answer to the Latin question, so he listened to everyone else respond. Okay, seemed to make sense. Transforming an animal. Which was, you know, what they were going to do, right? Lucas looked at his wand quickly. Why had the professor -- oops, SHAW -- taken it at the beginning of the lesson? Had he done something crazy to it? Would water shoot out when Lucas tried to use it to transfigure the cat? No, he'd just done a spell. Everything was fine. He was just being paranoid. Right? Probably?

Sniffling and still teary eyed, Salander looks up lethargic at the Transfiguration Professor, just in time for him to see the cat!hat rest on his head. He looks down at the bald kitty snuggled comfortably in the stickied-down scarf. Is he seriously gonna have to turn this one into a hat? It didnt look like it was big enough to be turned into a glove. "Fera Verto?...." that sounded familiar but couldnt figure out why "..... will that have something to do with their fur?" his pathetic creature sure could use some.

"How very chivalrous of you," Neptune returned an eye roll for the snort. She didn't mind freezing their cat though. They were learning, and though every detail of this class said otherwise, Neptune trusted adults and felt it was safe to proceed because Shaw or whatever would fix any mistakes. Mr. Tate did pay the man to work here, so...
"And a fashion sense," she giggled back to Legend. Neptune reached out to stroke their kitty, and used the opportunity to nudge at Legend. Juuuust because. Giggle.

Gwen thought of an answer she could give to his question. 'Fera actually means beast...', she finally spoke. After a short break, she added : ’And Verto stands for...', but she couldn’t remember what that was. Bummer. ‘Verto is something like… turning? Or transfigurating’
Realizing that what she said wasn't so smart, Gwen decided to add something:'Fera Verto is a spell that Transfigures animals into water goblets. If done incorrectly or with a faulty wand the transformation will only be partially successful', there! And that's all I know.

Fera means beast in Latin and verto stands for changing or turning.' the young Gryffindor replied.

Thea smiled sweetly. Yes.. she would suit herself. She raised her eyebrows slightly as he waved his wand. A cowboy hat? Really? She did giggle a bit at his goofy smile, though.
Frowning slightly, Thea thought of something.. sort of. 'Is it something to do with erm.. wild beasts or something?' She asked.
