Isabelle raised her handbwhile petring her new cat, Oreo, with the other. Oreo was quite calm already and she had no need to do anything to her. "Shaw doesnt it mean something like transforming beast or animal." Although mine seems the opposite of a beast. |
Quote:
Whatever, she muttered grumpily under her breath, sitting down at her table PROFESSOR YOU CAN'T DO THAT! She cried as he shot/stunned the cat. No, she, that was wrong. She grabbed her wand with a glare at "call-me-Shaw" and pointed it at her poor moggy, petrificus totalus she said, stroking the cat so it didn't get frightened. Well, anymore frightened since she'd been starved by that "professor". How he'd got the job she'd never know. And then he turned the cat into a...hat. Right. Nooooorrrrmmmmal. Course [/sarcasm] |

Exactly...whatever for not he was asking a question for them to answer. A question which seemed to be very simple but crucial to have in mind for this Gryffindor. Josh did not know latin, not even a word of it. Yet considering what the incantation did it should not have been hard to figure out the meaning. ''Well...Shaw. I guess its meaning should be something like 'I want to transfigure this creature' or 'Creature, i order you to be transfigured'. Then you focus on what you want to transfigure the creature into. If you do it correctly, you find the creature transfigured into whatever you had focused on.'' Just like Shaw himself turning the immobile cat into a cowboy hat and wearing it. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA! ''Suppose that is a cool way to make those cats useful for something actually'' If only he had been allowed to catch Kurumi's Walnut as well together with this poor feral one. Then he could teach the evil, nasty creature a proper lesson. |
I would love to switch places with you" Purrty" willaim told the kitten. " You have no cares in the world" William said to " Purrty" |
'Hey, Maxine, d'ya wanna wake up for a minute?' Snore. 'Or not! Definitely still Shaw, I was just checking!' |

Raven think of possible outcome, "Fera Verto", Nothing happen, what he will suppose to do. Try it again, "Fera Verto" like the earlier nothing happen "Hello, Shaw, we need some instruction here" Raven said loudly just to make sure the professor heard him |
Oooh Geeze Oakey thought 5 cats and I've got to calm them down Or at least immobilize them... With his wand back, Oakey quickly let his robe open, yelping out STUPIFY!. He managed to some how hit 2 of the 5 cats while the other 3 pounced on him and began to claw and scratch away at him. The cats seemed to be finished with him and hopped off, before the last 3 could scurry away Oakey nabbed one by the tail and shot another stupify at this one. Oakey was badly scratched up now and would most likely need medical attention after the class for sure. At least he still had 3 of the 5 cats left. Lying on the floor face up, still holding the 1 cat by it's tail and the other 2 still on his robe by his feet. Fera Verto, Oakey said way out of breath It turns animals into goblets, yeah water goblets. He closed his eyes and wanted to sleep. Shaw probably wouldn't want that and toss a chainsaw at him. So he slowly got up, took his other 2 cats and sat down at his desk. |

Shaw tipped his former-cat hat at the bright young man. Quote:
"Most of you got it, some of you didn't. JOSH did," Shaw pointed at the smartest boy in this whole class. "Don't know why you all are fixated on water goblets. If you're thirsty, go get some water. But the rest of us are gonna turn cats to hats. Most of you probably won't get it the first few times. Don't start crying if your hats have tails or whiskers and no whining if your hat scratches you. Just think real hard about a hat, cast with a steady wand pointed directly at your cat, or cats," Shaw threw a look at the boy with a bunch of cats, "and say the incantation LOUD and CLEAR. " "FERA VERTO." "Go and try. Good luck." |
Carr placed her cat carefully on a nearby desk, removed her wand from his pocket, and performed a textbook swish-and-flick. She tugged her shirt down off of her face long enough to clearly state, "Fera verto!" Her cat promptly became a calico-colored fedora. Carr smiled, or rather grimaced through her swollen lips. "Ah did i'!" |
This...all of this...made no sense to the Slytherin. Sure, transfiguration class usually confused her to no end anyways, but this...this was beyond confusion. She'd never heard of this spell being used for transfiguring any animal into anything other than a goblet, and even if she wanted to transfigure something into a hat, she surely wouldn't transfigure a cat into one. She'd just use the spell that Kingsley taught them a few terms back and NOT use it on a cat. Unless it was Destiny's. Holding her wand tight in her hand, Evelyn stared at the two cats on her desk that were having some sort of stare-down of their own. She didn't like the cat that wasn't Poof, but that didn't mean she could transfigure it into a hat. Worms, butterflies, and anything small she could do. Cats...no. That was just not cool. "Profe...Shaw. I don't understand. How can the same spell transfigure something into two different things? It's just all on the intent?" And why did they have to transfigure cats? Why not rats? |
Josh's comment about cats finally being made useful didn't slip past Kurumi. In fact, her head snapped around to look at him with a bit of a shocked expression on her face. Her expression grew even bigger when it appeared as though Shaw had actually agreed with him. SHAW! NOOOO! SAY IT AIN'T SO! If the man wasn't so much of a cat person, then why was this entire lesson using cats? Unless, this was the vindictive side coming out and he actually wanted students to fail and transfigure their cats into some sort of mutated hat. Kurumi glanced down at Buta and sighed. There was a whole lot of cat to work with right there. Maybe she could transfigure him into a very elaborate hat? "Fera Verto....Fera Verto...FERA VERTO," Kurumi repeated under her breath making sure that she had the incantation right before flicking her gaze towards the cat again. She felt a slight wibble coming on. What if she hurt the cat in the transfiguration process?! "Shaw, this spell won't hurt the cat if we cannot transfigure it properly will it?" she asked in a bit of a loud squeak. Casting Reverto would also fix their mistakes, yes? |
Shaw your help is needed ^_^ Nika arched her eyebrow in confusion. Didn't Josh answer later than everyone else? And he was the only one getting points for it!? Ten points? Well it all goes to Gryffindor in the end so eh Nika's happy! Nika raised her wand as she looked at the poor cat. She didn't want to hurt the poor thing, but she didn't want shaw to take out his chainsaw. "FERA VERTO!" But nothing happened... like usual. "FERA VERTO!" Still nothing... What was the wand movement for this again? " |

Penny wondered how the boy Josh managed to get on Team Shaw.and if there was any girls on that team!!... 'No point thinking about that now', she scolded herself... Pointing her wand at the cat which lay frozen on her desk..she cleared her throat and said the incantation loud and clear, all the while concentrating on a hat.... "FERA VERTO".. Looking at her cat...she realised it was still a cat :( Okay...again....concentrating with all her might.. "FERA VERTO".. This time, before her very eyes, the cat slowly transformed into a Cowboy Hat with three colors...white, brown and black.. Picking it up off the desk, she removed her own pointed hat and put on the new cowboy hat.....'Yeee hawww' she said to herself... with a smile.. |
Samira glared coldly at Shaw as he rewarded that Gryffindor boy points when everybody else answered too!!!! She didn't do anything other than glare though, unless the madman pulls out his blasted chainsaw again. So she just settled for glaring. A lot. Looking down at the cat, Samira wrinkled her nose. How were they suppose to turn a cat into a hat? Didn't they usually just turn them unto goblets or something? Figures Shaw would do something unpredictable like this... Picking up her wand, Samira let the words Fera Verto run through her head before picturing a simple hat in her mind. No need to go overboard. Samira tapped her wand on the cat, pictured a hat, and said, "Fera Verto!" Nothing happened. Ok...again. "Fera Verto!" Still, nothing. Samira was getting annoyed now. She pushed back her sleeves and said in a louder voice, "Fera Verto!" Nothing. "Fera Verto! Fera Verto! VERA FERTO!" Still, nothing. Angry now, Samira turned to Shaw sharply. "Professor!" she said loudly. "Help!" |

Carter got ten points for being an idiot?! Well, this was Shaw's class, so that pretty much explained why Lion Boy was considered top of the class. Sierra shot a quick glare in Josh's direction, but at the same time, she made a mental note to cheat off him next time instead of Hollingberry. Sierra looked back at the Hufflepuff cat on her desk. She was more than ready to transform it into something else. She was tired of looking at it--sitting there all nice and fluffy and looking like a Badger right there on her desktop. She drew her wand and aimed it toward the cat. Hat...hat...any sort of hat but a yellow and black one...hat...hat... "Fera Verto!" BAHHHH. It didn't work. Stupid cat. Quote:
She slowly moved her gaze away from Hollingberry and pointed her wand at her own cat once again. "Fera Verto!" This time, furballs shot into the air with a slight poof sound. Her cat was no more. On her desk instead was a hat...of some kind. She hadn't even bothered to look carefully at it yet. She did, however, notice something small and white lying next to her hand. She picked it up and showed it to Hollingberry. "Oh, look," she said, "...a furball." |
Iris listened to everything that was going on in the class, twirling her wand around her fingers through boredom. She took in everything Shaw said, frowning a bit. Cats into hats. Right. Because we all needed hats as desperately as the insane bald thing teaching them. Then Evelyn started to quiz how it was possible. Did she not listen to Josh at all?! (The Head Girl had to hand it to him: He was pretty smart). This was a really basic transfiguration. Well, in terms of how young you are when you first learn it, anyway... and Hogwarts had never really touched on how Fera Verto could be used for anything other than goblet transfiguration. Iris wouldn't have been surprised if most of the students just assumed that water goblets were the ONLY thing that spell could make out of an animal. Being honest, she only knew that through lots of independent study at stupid-o'clock-in-the-morning in the library. But even so. None of that justified the use of smelly, feral cats. Iris didn't really fancy wearing a flee-ridden fez... Looking at the cat, the blonde aimed her wand at the motionless mammal. "Well, here goes, Mr Cat." Focus on a hat... focus on a hat... focus on a hat... " Fera Verto." As she tapped her wand on the cat, it slowly started to transform into a hat. A fez, to be specific. A bright red fez with a golden tassel on the top of it. Ignoring the fact that her mind had let this silly hat become what were blatantly the wrong colours, Iris then picked the fez up so she could inspect it. Mainly to check that it was free of flees... and cat tails. |

Raven concentrating to his cat with his might, thinking hard of a hat, Raven loosen the grip to his wand, to much grip is giving him less production. "Fera Verto" nothing happen, "Awwee give me a right product" Raven say. another one try, another one again, all failure. Raven start in the beginning, imagining cat turned into hat "cat hat cat hat" Raven tap the steady cat trice and "Fera Verto" almost shout, there is wisp, and the cat became hat "what?" the cat is transformed to a huge hat with eyes and tail "hmmm, seem like quite a hat" Raven murmured |
Oh yeeeeeees, Eino was getting a hat!!! Now, the hardest part about it was thinking what kind of hat he wanted. "What do you reckon will look good on my head?" Eino asked the cat. In response the creature blinked and wiggle its nose, although that wasn't much of a response. It was already doing that before Eino asked it, but he used his imagination to fill in for the cat. "Black leather cowboy hat it is!" He pointed his wand at the cat and said the incantation. "Fera Verto." Nothing happened. Meow. "Hold your horses!" Eino told the cat as he took a brief moment to think of the wand movement. This was a fairly easy spell, one which he could recall seeing in his Transfiguration book last year. Wand movements were always the trickiest and hardest thing to remember, so Eino often came up with rhymes and sayings to make them easier to remember. "Fera Verto, Fera Verto, Fera Verto..." He chanted as he scratched his head. "To tame it... your target must be within reach, tap three times then point to the beast!" Eureka! So he tapped the cat three times on the head, and pointed to it. "Fera Verto." Clear light shot from Eino's wand and hit the cat but nothing happened... Great, he forgot to think about what he wanted the cat to turn into. Okay, one more time. He closed his eyes and tried to hold a clear image of what he wanted the target to transfigure into. He then opened them, tapped the cat three times, pointed at it, and said the incantation. Clear light shot from Eino's wand again, hitting the cat and turning it into a leather cowboy just as he wanted, but it wasn't black it was white. Eino picked up the hat and inspected it. Other than not being the right color the hat had cat paw pads under it. What was the spell to reverse the transfiguration? He really wanted to try again. He would get it right next time! |
Now back to the lesson. Aiden starts to think of a hat. Next, she points her wand at the Petrificus Totalus-ed cat. "Fera Verto," said Aiden loud and clear. Once again, her mouth carves into a sneer when the transfigured cat becomes a furry hat. |
William pointed his wand at " Purrrty". " Fera Verto" William called out as he cast a spell on his cat. William's hat was a top hat with red and white stipes on it. WWilliam knows about this hat, He read this book when he was younger," The Cat in A Hat". |
"Shaw, we can still transfigure the cat back, right?" she asked, looking down at the still sleeping animal on her lap. Without waiting for an answer, though, Brielle practiced the spell deep in her mind. Fera Verto. Fera Verto. Fera Verto. Closing her eyes, a white, wide hat came to view. It was the most practical transformation the cat could make, seeing its size and fats. Snapping her blue eyes open, Brielle pointed her wand to the animal and said as loud as she could, "Fera Verto." Her animal slowly shifted in its sleep, as if slowly mutating into another being. Soon enough, the hat she had been imagining appeared. Except that it had white ears poking at the top. Sigh. |
Lucas looked at the newly named and petrified cat, Taylor. "Alright," he said to it. "You're going to be an awesome cowboy hat. Okay?" He concentrated on the image of a cowboy hat and said, "Fera Verto." He watched as Taylor turned into... A cowboy hat. Whoa! Hey! It didn't even have whiskers or anything like he'd thought it would! He'd done it!!! But... Wait, how did he get the cat back? |
Got this from Harry Potter Wiki. Don't blame me if the wand movement is wrong. xD Turning the cat into a hat? Heather hugged Serpahina close. Were they going to turn the hat back into a cat? She didn't want to lose Seraphina! She wanted to keep the cat. The purring cat on her arms was still calm and she set it down on top of a table. "Seraphina, i have to turn you into a hat." the cat narrowed its eyes on her. "Don't get me wrong, Serpahina...please? i hope this won't hurt you, okay? So...are you all right with that? You can scratch me if you don't want to." but it seems the cat was so calm, it only stared at her and then made one move: it nodded its head. Heather smiled. "Thank you Seraphina! I'll turn you into a pretty hat! I promise!" She said, thinking: 'i hope i do this well...knowing my unlucky streak with casting spells...' Seraphina stood up straight awaiting to be tapped by Heather's wand and the girl took a deep breath. What was that wand movement again? What was that spell again? CHOCOLATE AND CHIPS! What is that spell? Oh...Fera Verto...that's it.....right? and that wand movement...this better be it... holding her wand, she flicked it one...two...three and tapped it on the cat. "Fera Verto!" she said, thinking hard of a cute little hat. Her eyes was still closed when she heard that the cat had not made one sound. OH MY. Did she just kill the cat? She opened one eye and looked at the table. There sat not a cat but a hat. A very pretty one too! Heather beamed. She did the spell really well! She took the hat with great care. "Seraphina, i told you you would be a pretty hat." she said and put it on top of her head and faced Shaw. "Shaw! Shaw! I did it!" she chirped happily to the professor she usually was nervous though... |
Raven didn't satisfy in his work, he need more accurate product. "Fera Verto" loud and clear, there is smoke, and the cat became almost "hat, NO it's actually hat with PAW" Raven exclaimed "how do I suit it in my head, risky hat, I might say" but of course this time his trial is better than before. just ignore the eyes of Shaw, and Raven didn't wanted to quarantine either |
