Marilyn smirked. She was not trying to be condescending at all.

They had to make their own jewelry? That was so cool! And protective runic jewelry? Even better! Helena just couldn't wait to get out of there and start that. She didn't even bother to write that down, since she wasn't going to forget about it. Hehe.

After she packed her stuff, the girl stood up and smiled at professor Christiansen. "Have a good summer as well. Goodbye."

... and she walked out of the classroom.

Tristan looked surprised. "Zere iz no need to use bind runes in your zwellery." He said. His accent as heavy as ever. What had given her the idea? He didn't like it... it was a vast topic... now he would have to tell her about it...

"Zere is a course about bind runes at ze Norwegian University of Runic Ezucation, ja?" Did she get that it was a vast topic? "One class iz not beink enough." He nodded and frowned. "I vill tell you some basik points. Remember zat symmetry is important. Ze bind rune should not look like..." He didn't know the word so he decided to repeat what he had already said. He thought it would get the point across! "Ze bind rune must be symmetrical, ja?" He paused and nodded. "Ven you are incorporatink your name or initials into ze rune. For your protection. Remember zat runes are beink phonetic. Zey are representink ze sound rather zan ze letters. I give you an example, ja? If your name iz startink with a hard C, you vill use Kauno for ze K sound. If your name iz startink with a soft C, you vill use Sowilo for ze S sound." He hoped she understood. "Ven you combine ze runes, you must not place zem wrong. Do not place zem upzide-down. Zat could reverse ze meaning, ja?" Unless she wanted the reverse meaning... not that the students used invoked runes...

He nodded and frowned again... he had letters to respond to...

Tristan nodded. "If you are knowink about ze bind runes, you give her help, ja?" If the girl wanted more help...

Tristan nodded and smiled. "God dag. Sank you. "

Quill flying over the parchment she was holding in her hands as she tried to not only make sense of his speech with his viking accent, but also tried to write down everything he was saying about binding runes. She didn't realize it, but the word repeated on her parchment was 'ja'. Perhaps it had some secret meaning, like a code!

Her eyes widened a bit when he mentioned an entire class based on bind runes. That sounds fascinating! Perhaps there was an exchange program to this Norwegian University? Kurumi would certainly apply for that. She was already participating in an exchange program through the United Wizarding Nations, a small secret branch of the United Nations, this summer in New York, and seeing another part of Europe sounded like a fantastic opportunity. Hopefully, not all the professors at this university were viking like he was. Or, perhaps the university was on a boat. A boat like what was out in the Black Lake...

Kurumi found herself blinking a few times when he said that he was going to tell her about basilisks. Why was he going to do that? She thought they were talking about runes. How did one make basilisks symmetrical? Moreover, what did symmetrical basilisks have to do with their homework assignment? Kurumi assumed that there was some method to his madness, so she wrote down notes about basilisks. Salander seemed to know a lot about the creatures, so she could run a few questions by him about it later. Then he mentioned that bind runes needed to be symmetrical as well. Aaaaah, there was the connection.

"Thank you," Kurumi nodded as she folded up her parchment and placing it in her bag. "I think I understand." Better than earlier at least.

Kurumi then looked at the older Slytherin who offered to help her with bind runes. She certainly wasn't one to turn down an upper classman's advice. She had asked about combining runes when she was a first year to a certain bubbly professor who had given her a cookie recipe that she still had tucked away in her cookie notebook.

"That would be very kind of you," she chirped with a slight bow of gratitude.

Now that her things were all placed back in her bag, Kurumi returned her gaze back towards Professor Viking and bowed.

"Thank you for the discussion," she said before turning her back and making her way out of the classroom.

Packing up her things, Marilyn stood...nodding to both the professor and the Gryffindor. "It'd be my pleasure to help, Professor. Kurumi...I'll send you details via owl later in the week."

With that, she swept from the room.

Penny hadn't expected the class to end so soon...."Thanks for the lesson Professor... have a good summer sir", said Penny as she packed up her things..then left the room.

Josh had been just blinking....just blinking...well because he had not understood whatever the man had said so far.

Yes, he had heard the student's comments and answers but without understanding the Professor's explanations and instructions, the class had not made any sense to him. So, he had been sitting here and looking around for no apparent reason. That made him feel...stupid. Very stupid.

Plus the others understood him!!! Apparently it was only him who had not understood anything and this thought did not go well with the Gryffindor boy. So, not feeling really happy with himself. Josh stood up and left the class...quickly.
