It was a bitter-cold morning. The wind whirled and howled, rustling the leaves on the trees violently. Admittedly it probably wasn't the best day to have a lesson on the Schooner, in fact it would have been more appropriate in the spring time. But... the students would survive.
As you board the main deck of the Schooner you are confronted with an unexpected sight. It had been transformed to look like a makeshift classroom. Small desks and chairs had been arranged in rows across the deck, facing the front where Professor Bentley was standing, writing on the small blackboard there. Surrounding her was a row of ominous looking ...fish tanks? covered with sheets. An eerie bluish-green light emanated out from behind the sheets, casting a strange glow across the first two rows of desks.
Situated slightly off to the side was the largest tank. It was tall and tubular.
Once she had finished writing her message on the blackboard Professor Bentley stood off to the side of the deck waiting to greet the students as they arrived. She was full of energy and excitement, but contained this in order not to scare the students away.

Brielle stared at her hand in confusion. Was she supposed to mould the clay with her gloves on or off? Pursing her lips, she gazed at her small tank and decided to leave her gloves on. After all, she had been instructed to put them there, right? Picking up her coral, she brought it to the front of her face, until it almost touched her nose. When she had finally looked enough, Brielle brought her thumb to the clay and pushed it down. As soon as she brought her hand up, however, she realized her finger was definitely too small and ended up using her index finger along with her thumb.
Checking the hole once more, she picked up her specimen and very carefully placed it into the clay. She had made sure the hole was exactly 5 cm deep, so the coral must have fitted nicely. Smiling with contentment, she gazed up to the blackboard for the next step.

Paper in hand, Salander trudged back to the supplies area, a little frustrated with all the back and forth trips he's been doing. Maybe it would've been a good idea if he had taken a seat at the front row? But Either that or he should've brought along a wheelbarrow and get enough supplies for people sitting at the back of the ship classroom.
He took a container and measured out the water, then focused his attention of the Mooncalf dung, picking up on the stench and puffing out through his nose. Oh boy, his Lexi sure will love this part. Not.
Once he's gotten enough Mooncalf dung into the water he swirled the mixture in the container, picking up a dropper and made his way back to his desk. He then took a drop of the solution let it fall onto the newly transplanted Stubby Purple Coral.
And done.

The instructions were simple, Brielle figured. It was something she could at least something she could perform without messing up... or so she thought. Taking her bucket from the floor, Brielle headed to the back of the room where a tank was filled with salt water. She poured it to her bucket until she reached a liter then headed back to her desk, and transferred the water to her tank. Again, she went back to collect the water and poured the second liter. Wanting to complete the fourth step, she headed back to the tank and filled another liter to her bucket.
"Wow..." she exclaimed, trying to catch her breath as she headed back to her desk. She had never thought that carrying three buckets of water could be a bit tiring. Happy that she was almost done, she raised the bucket up and was about to pour the water down to her tank when her left foot slid on the damp floor and her water went tumbling down. "Oh no..." she exclaimed, looking at her wet shoes and floor. The only thing she was thankful for now was that no one had noticed her clumsiness. "Exaresco," she muttered, drying the water off her clothes. Getting a bit frustrated, she went back to get water and finally added her third and final liter into the tank.
'Take one of the small tanks and fill the bottom with 30cm of clay...'
Measurements... again? Hayley NEVER thought it would be important in the wizarding world especially in Herbology.. and Potions.. as it's also kinda' important in the muggle world..
But.. where to put the part coral in her hand right now? Uhhh... She then had this crazy idea.. Taking her shovel out of her bag, she filled it with water just enough for it to not spill out and put the coral in it.. it fits! just right in the water.. she then puts it beside the tank at her place gently...
Moving on.. She rolled up her sleeves after taking the outer robe and do the instructions that was written on the board.. Slowly adding the clay bit by bit (by hand) and checking the measurement and... she's done. "Hooohhhh..." She then look back up at the board for the next step.
Brielle checked her time and was surprised to see that she had been stirring her mooncalf solution for 10 minutes straight. She had been daydreaming again. Peering at the solution, she was happy top note that all she could see was 700 ml of clear water, which meant the mooncalf dung was completely dissolved.
She glanced to the board, but quickly turned her head back to her desk again. Looking at the word 'dung' made her a bit uncomfortable, so Brielle had decided to just think of the end of the lesson, when she would be comfortably seated in one of the soft, soft sofas of the common room. Happy that she would finally be able to finish the activity, she quickly added one drop of the mooncalf solution to her prepared tank and sat back down on her chair, looking at her work contentedly.
'Using your fingers mould the bottom end of the cutting into a small whole in the clay, about five cm deep.'
And again. MEASUREMENTS. Ughhh... Now she starting to dislike measuring stuffs.. But for the sake of this beautiful coral, oh well... Turning her gaze to the coral in the shovel, she then slowly stick her forefinger to the clay and press it down...
A few moments later.. she had almost her whole forefinger in the clay, well, she remembered measuring her own in the muggle school last time, and it seems that her forefinger didn't grow either shorter or longer at all.. Okay...
She then remove it (difficultly, since her forefinger's kinda' stuck in it..) and slowly takes the cutting from her shovel and gently put it in the hole that she had made while her other hand try to make the clay as the same height as possible.. Done! Then she looks up to the board again..
'Add 3 Ltrs of sea water...' 3 liters? Uhh... She remember her measuring cup is in her... bag. Phew Good thing she brought it here. She then went to the tank filled with sea water and made around 3 trips (her measuring cup is 1 liter big) and had slowly pour it in the small tank... Okay... Finally done with the water. She checks the board for the last instruction...

Striding over to the blackboard Seren whipped out her wand and gave it a tap. Instructions instantly materialised on its surface.
Seren then returned to the front and centre of the class. "Right, instructions are on the board. I suggest you read them thoroughly. You will find that the tanks, clay, sea water and mooncalf dung are at the back of the... class..." Seren gestured to a pile of tanks that had materialised at the back of the ship with a simple flick of her wand. Seren surveyed the students.
"Remember to take great care when working with the Coral, it is endangered. With any luck you will all have played an important role in securing it a longer future." "Instructions for making the mooncalf solution will be found on your desks."With another flourish of her wand, small sheets of paper materialised onto the students' desks.
Seren began to move around between the desks in case any students required assistance. She would keep a close eye on them when they got their cuttings... "Don't forget, safety first, gloves need to be worn."
Tayla put on her gloves and got ready. The fact that they'd be helping save the Coral made the activity more interesting to do.
"Right...what should I do first?" she thought, looking at the board and at the sheet of paper that appeared on her desk.
"Take a cutting off the original specimen, 20 cm long," she read to herself. She stood up and walked towards the front to get her cutting. Being a first year, she wasn't confident with using the severing charm. So although she wanted to cut using magic, Tayla contented herself with using one of the silver knives.
Tayla carefully cut the Coral at the length needed and headed back to her seat. So far so good.
D..D..Dung? Ohh.. no...no..nooooo... Staring wide-eyed at her piece of paper, she just let out her big breath realizing that she had been holding her breath for awhile... Wash hand and equipments later. making a mental note to herself.
Hayley takes a cup and fills the.. dung in it just 1/4 ounce right.. After washing the measuring cup that was used for the sea water, she fills it with 700ml of water... She then took out her mixing spoon and scrape it into the measuring cup. Can't believe i'm doing this she thought sadly while stirring it... .......
About 5 minutes later, she finally admits that the dung is fully dissolved and took out her dropper from her bag. Then dips it into the measuring cup and take a small amount using the dropper and take it to the tank with the coral in it. She then carefully make one drop and observe the tank as the solution dissolves into the water..
Emptying her dropper and put the solution aside. Stacking up the other equipment near her bag (she decides to hold the used equipment in hand) and just sits in her seat and observe the coral...

Nessie got really excited to do the practical. She had always loved helping endangered animals and plants back at home and she was happy she could do it here too. She put on her gloves, then walked up to the Coral. She took a silver knife and cut off very carefully exactly 20 cm long. She got back to her desk to do the rest.
Step 5 - Finally add one drop of Mooncalf Solution.

Finally on the last step, Simon switched his attention from his notes on the instructions to the paper the Professor had left them all...each on the edge of their desks. Certainly not the hardest solution he had needed to make, he mused to himself getting up again to his feet slowly. Getting what he needed of both mooncalf dung and water, he mixed it together before filling a dropper full and adding it to the tank.

Ooh, the practical part of the lesson. Awesome. Lucas didn't trust himself with the spell on such an endangered plant, so he decided to play it safe and just use one of the knives provided. He measured very carefully -- he felt bad cutting the plant at all since it was so endangered; he would have felt terrible if he'd cut it wrongly -- and then cut a 20 cm long portion of the plant. Phew. Okay. That hadn't ended terribly like he was a little scared it would.
Nessie got up again as she saw the next thing on the board was to get a small tank. She walked to the back of the Classroom (Ship) and got one. She also got enough clay. She then got back to her desk and decided she should write the steps down so she wrote:

'Take a cutting off the original specimen, 20 cm long.' Zara read the instructions on the board as much as she could manage as her head continued to behave strangely. She stood up from her seat and went over to the front, legs slightly weak as she walked towards it. Once she got there, she got the silver knife. Right, she didn't know the spell, might as well not take chances because she might cut something else, if that's what the spell should do. Sighing, she went over to where the plant was and began to cut a part of it. What was the size again? Glancing to the board, Zara muttered, "Right, twenty centimeters."
And she began to cut a portion of the stubby purple coral and took it back to her table.

Seren wandered around the classroom observing the students replanting their Stubby Purple Coral. She could hardly wait to tell her friend how well her students did. She was sure he would appreciate their help to save these natural beauties.
During her turn about the deck Seren's gaze flickered to the the large tubular tank that stood off to the side of the deck... still waiting to be uncovered. She would save it till last, that way any students that wanted to see it could come up after class... she was itching to introduce it... she had been awaiting its arrival for so long, and now it was here. Oh it was very exciting... very exciting indeed.
A few students concerned her... some students looked as if they were about ready to eat the coral... checking her pendant watch she supposed it was about ready for brunch...
Then there was... oh Merlin! "Simon?!... are you having difficulty following instructions again?" she asked sheepishly. Was this boy not aware that 30cm meant 30cm.... "You're lucky you went more as opposed to less... it would have hindered the corals ability to grow had it not had enough space to root itself and to absord the natural nutrients from the iron rich clay."
She shook her head a little disappointed.
Turning to the rest of the class she felt it was time for an announcement. It looked as though most of the students were either finished or finishing up.
"Right class... I see most of you are finished or close to finishing. Just leave your new specimens on your desk, I will collect them later. What I would like you to do now is fill out the tag I'm about to drop on your desks and secure it to your tank."
Simple enough, no?...
"These cuttings will be transported back to Australia where they will be re-introduced to their natural habitat. I'm sure the Herbologists that are working on reviving the colonies will greatly appreciate your individual efforts."
Yes... there was no doubt that Aron would be pleased with their gesture. She would have to write to him and thank him for providing her students with the opportunity.
With a flick of her wand, simple plain tags appeared on each of the students' desks. Ready for naming.
OOC: If you havnt finished your specimen you still have time. I will conclude the lesson in approximately 6 hours.
Sorry... for the tag just your student name will suffice. Thankyou!

Ok, so this lesson WAS interesting and everything - but now people were going to SEE that she was here. Which meant the professor might too. WHICH MEANT that her sneaking into lessons just to listen but not to stand out period was over.
Guh.
Pulling on her gloves with reluctance, Ryden glanced at the board and picked up her knife and ruler. 20cm? Right. The brunette walked over to the plant - keeping her head WELL down - and carefully cut the exact amount of the pretty plant. Hmm. Interesting texture. The fourth year made a mental note to visit the library later. With the invisibility cloak she'd recently received from Father.
... Oh. People were finishing. Glancing at the board again, Ryden memorised the list and set to work.

Okay, step one--check. Step two. What's step two? Zara looked up again and read aloud to herself, "Take one of the small tanks and fill the bottom with 30 cm of clay." With her gloves still on--which was there ever since the beginning--Zara got the tanks and clay from the back of the class. Why didn't she just get all the stuff she needed so that she wouldn't have to be all over the place and be over with it? Right, because her mind wasn't working well. Still walking like a drunk, Zara held the small tank carefully, and the clay.
'What's step two again?' she thought to herself. She forgot again. Reading the instruction written on the board, Zara finally remembered and filled the bottom of the tank with clay until it measured up to about thirty centimeters.
Yay! Australia! Brielle had a few muggle relatives living in the country and Brielle had always wanted to go there. It seemed such a beautiful place. "You're gonna fit there pretty well," she said talking to her coral. Wait. Talking to her coral? She shook her head, so now she was talking to plants, huh?
Brielle pulled the tag on her desk and carefully brought out her quill and ink. Removing her gloves, she wrote carefully.
Nessie looked at the next instruction in her notes then got up to get what she needed. She then got back to her seat and filled her tank with the three letres of water she hoped she was doing ok. so far nothing had gone bad or wrong. Everything looked right. She then looked back to her notes for the next instructions.

Woot. He had finished with the little practical experiment thing, but he felt a bit self-conscious about his cutting being sent to Australia. Really, he doubted it met up to the standards of Herbologists. Whatevs, though. Picking up the tag that the Professor dropped onto his desk, Jamie took his quill in his hand.

'Using your fingers mould the bottom end of the cutting into a small whole in the clay, about five cm deep.' She thought as she looked up at the board. Focusing her attention back at her desk, she molded the bottom end of the cutting, using her fingers, into a small whole five centimeter deep hole in the clay. After this, she was hurrying really. It made her condition worse. Her head spinning, she decided to hurry things up. Okay, Zara. Next step. Fasteeeer!

Ryden went over and grabbed a tank - one of the few that were left - and went over to the supply are to fill it with clay. Summoning a measuring cup (and the summoning charm was perfect, fyi) the brunette measured out 30 cm of the stuff. Hastily, for she did not want to finish absolutely last, she dropped the clay into the tank and immediately headed back to her table, where she grabbed her ruler.
