| | |  The Old Ship
 The ancient schooner stands tall in the dark water, although there is a definite list to the mast and sails that belie its age. After all these years hidden in or around the lake, the ship is in remarkably good condition, although the lower decks drip with water and something rather green and slimy. If not for the age and apparent solitude of the ship, it would appear the crew had just departed, even going so far to leave the gangplank lowered to provide access to the main deck.
The main deck is cluttered in a way no captain would approve. Bits of knotted rope, lank strands of the shredded sail, and abandoned cannon balls that seem to have taken root to the deck would have tripped up a sailor in bygone days. They are the only artifacts left of those hearty men now. A rope ladder twists uselessly in the rigging - wonder if the crow's nest can still be reached?
Just a few steps above the main deck, the steering wheel is knotted into place with a moldy length of rope. It's impossible to know where these sailors were headed, but they've been sailing in one direction for a very long time indeed. Propped against the railing behind the wheel is a marlinespike, a nasty pointed thing that was someone's weapon or tool... or both.
Beneath the quarterdeck, a gaping doorway leads to the captain's quarters. Decrepit maps, a rusted quadrant, and a compass sit on the captain's desk, but the most interesting artifact is probably the old tricorne hat propped against the chair. Wherever the man went, his head is bare. The bed and wardrobe in the corner could give you more clues about the man who lived here, but the best clue is the log book folded closed on the chair - Captain's Log for the Dead Wizard's Trove.
Below the main deck, you will find the hold and sailor's quarters. Kegs of powder are scattered with a few ancient gold coins, Galleons by the look of them, but there is no further indication as to what the ship once carried. Was the ship a merchant ship? Privateers? Or pirates? | |

Then again it wasn't everyday her head of house led an exploration adventure, and she for one was not going to miss it. Purely for educational reasons of course. The old ship was bound to be brimming in history.
Wand held aloft before her, Ivory glanced back to smile widely at her best friend. This was sure to be an adventure.Turning back to focus in on the advancing party as moonlight trickled through the leaves giving an environment that was shady and cool. Then almost as if a giant invisible hand had parted a curtain, the trees parted to reveal a view of the Lake, looking for all the world like a void into another world, with the moonlight dancing over it's surface its' mystery only accented with the intriguing ship rocking gently on the water further away.
The old wood gleamed with age, the sails billowing slightly in the night breeze. Trying to contain her excitement, Ivory slipped her wand into its holster and turned to grin at her best friend. All aboard? Yes? Yes!
Nimbly climbing up the gangplank, making sure to watch her footing, the Ravencalw prefect made her way safely on deck. With a deep breath of old wood and what might've been mildew, Ivory couldn't suppress a grin as she heard Professor V call out that they should investigate every nook and cranny. Now that she could happily do.
Impervioused smervioused. Arya wanted to get good and wet and dirty while she explored the old ship. Awesome awesome SHIP. Her clothing was a bit on the dark side to appease her bestie though. Warm colors were dark enough right?
A grin plastered on her face, she followed closely behind her friend and the girl's house head up onto the ship, took tentative steps around the place. SHIP. Hehe. "Think Vindictus will let me climb this rope to the top?" Did she need his permission? She was almost certain she did, since he was the one that got them on the ship, but she wasn't gonna let that stop her from testing out the rope ladder. Hehe. She snuck a peek over at the man and.... THEM, all the crazy student surrounding him, she'd also made note to tread lightly around them, and tip toed to the rope ladder, giving it a few testing but gentle tugs.

Dianna was looking for something fun to do. F.U.N. Some sort of activity or place that can fill up those words and make them meaningful. As she made her way towards the old and creepy looking ship, Dianna could not even imagine why she considered this fun. It wasn't boring, just the thought of what she can find in there excites her but it wasn't exactly safe looking either. Anyways she walked through the debris of rope and found a couple of students as well as professors wandering around the ship. Well at least she wasn't alone.
She found herself stumbling as she went deeper into the ship and then a rope caught her foot which caused her to fall.

Mmm. Ship. Part of Finlay really didn't want to explore it. He was going to get very filthy. Which was not cool. But really with the nice purple and blue bruise that was emerging on his face...he really did make the part of a pirate, or ship person. Oooh. Maybe he could be like the Captain. He was headboy....so he was pretty sure it wasn't that big a leap to captain. And Captain Carmicheal did sound pretty epic.
He'd watched from afar the students, and his head of house make there way up the gangplank. It looked a little unsturdy, hence why he had waited so long before going up himself. "And Admiral Vorpatril," he said with a laugh and slapped Finn's back. Raising his foot he knocked on the ship's wood and winced. "Do you think this thing is safe?" he whispered keeping back from the rest of the group. With his luck he'd fall right through and Admiral Vorpatril would be no more. How sad. He wanted to explore without the group. Like was dying to. "Think we'd get in trouble if we went off on our own?"

Simon has been just following behind the others watching to see what they found, when they found the captains log Simon wondered if there would be anything good in it, maybe a clue about where some treasure was hidden.
Simon looked at the Professor. "Does it say captains logs and then gives you a date?" Maybe then they would find out when the ship sank because it might have the last entry in it, but he didn't know what kind of log book it was so it could be different.
He was just about to say something else when a loud bang caused him to turn around, he quickly went over when he realised that a slytherin girl had fallen, he went over to her and held out a hand. "Want a hand?" He hadn't realised who it was.

Those steps did sound a little creaky. "Good idea..." Finn nodded, as he glanced back at Ivan. Carefully he moved up the steps, totally looking like a fool as he tried to not like fall through them. "Woaaahh!" Finn grinned as he got to the top of the stairs. "Theres like a wheel thingy!" Yeah. That would be the steering wheel Finn.

"That'd be SOO coool" Finn agreed, pulling his hand out of his holster, and conjured two pirate hats. "Here you go Admiral" Finlay grinned, putting one hat onto his head. Oh yes. He totally looked like a Captain now. Putting his wand back into his holster, and continued on his way across the deck.
"Oooh. We should!" Finlay nodded, glancing around. "Some deck hands! Somemone to clean up so we don't fall over." Yup. He hadn't missed Ivan nearly falling over. oooh. Those steps did sound a little creaky. "Good idea..." Finn nodded, as he glanced back at Ivan. Carefully he moved up the steps, totally looking like a fool as he tried to not like fall through them. "Woaaahh!" Finn grinned as he got to the top of the stairs. "Theres like a wheel thingy!" Yeah. That would be the steering wheel Finn.
What a great Captain. HEY LOOK A HAT!!! Grinning he took the hat with a bow and placed it on his head. Yup look at him ADMIRAL VORPATRIL!!! Now he needed a sword and an eye patch to complete the ensemble. Though he was not saying Argggh. Nope just wasn't going to happen.

"Waiit a minute." Finlay stepped forward, next to Ivan. "I'm sure steering the ship is the Captains job!" And he was the Captain. So shove over silly Admiral. "But yes...it is a very fine day for sailing." Finlay would know. He did have a boat he sailed at home. With a smirk, Finlay glanced around. It was really messy up here too. He frowned. Whoever was the actual Captain of this ship....was clearly not a very good Captain. "It far too messy on this ship."

Seeing as no one saw her trip and break her hand she crept along the passwage looking for a way to go further down into the ship. There had to be a way. She smiled when she saw a boy pull a sword out. Oh boys....
She was looking around in the captian quarters. The Professor and many other students had just come out of here. She wondered if they missed something some where. Well the hallway down to the rest of the ship certianly wasn't going to be in here. She didn't linger long. Usually the hallway was right on the first deck wasn't it? I mean that's what she had seen in Movies like the Pirates of the Carribean. Was that even real?

Elektra looked at the ship. She was in awe. SHe was even more amazed by the fact at how the condition of this old ship was pretty decent. The curious second year was just so eager to step onto the old ship and she didn't waste any time and carefully walked onto the deck looking around at everything around her and a smile came across her face. Not wasting any time above deck she was more intrested what was below deck. As she walked she saw a doorway that looked like it lead to the captain's quarters. She whistled looking around. "Well well Cap looks like you were living the luxourious life eh?" she said and then chuckled to herself. As she looked around she saw a few maps a compass that was sitting on the captain's desk, and she picked the compass up and opened it up looking at it and then wiped the dust off it and coughed from the dust getting into her face and then lets out a sneeze and she shakes her head and huffs. "Bloody hell." When Elektra put the compass back on the desk she looked at the chair and paused for a slight moment tilting her head a little bit to the side. "What the..." she began and hten stopped picking up a book that had the title: Captain's Log for the Dead Wizard's Trove. Elektra looked around the roo mand then slowly and carefully opened the cover of the book. "Alright Captain...whatcha got for me here?" she said softly to herself.

Lola crawled, and with no light illuminated on her, she was full out SNEAKY. She pulled on the girl's robes trying to grab her immediate attention. "BOO."

"Psssst, let's do some exploring," she said, motioning the girl to crawl with her. She was simply following her instincts. Had Sierra not been standing in the middle of an old, smelly, mysterious, rundown ship that came complete with a book about dead wizards, she may not have been phased by the sudden tugging at her robes. She may have even drawn her wand and given the culprit one of her typical glares. She may have done a lot of things.
As it was, though, she was on a ship that fit that description, and she was a little on the leery side at the moment. She jumped a little, darting over to the side to get away from whatever it was tugging at her robes. Her eyes flashed downward to meet Lola Jones, and then...and only then...did she relax a little and start the glaring. "Lola," she half-snapped, "get up. What are you doing down there?" This was Lola Jones, though, people. That was enough of an explanation.
...and then it hit her. Exactly why was she always so annoyed when Lola came around? Sure, the girl was a complete and total nuisance, but she was also loyal as a dog, and Sierra needed someone who'd follow her around and possibly be at her beck and call. So as long as she didn't act like she did at the end of the feast, they'd be just fine. Perking up and suddenly acting a lot nicer, Sierra said, "Oh, Loooooola. It's you." An evil smirk, which appeared like a nice smile, spread across her face. "I've been looking all around for someone to explore the ship with me. Know anyone looking for someone else to partner up with?"
In other words, you can be my partner and walk slightly ahead of me. That way, if there's rotten boards to fall through or creepy people lurking around corners, you'll meet them first. It was an excellent plan, she thought. Quote:

She'd only been a first year, and he'd been a sixth year, after all. She spared him a half-second glance before deciding that the Head Boy was sort of... cute.
Whoa. Waiiiiit a second. Had she just said that?! No, but she'd thought it, and that was just as embarrassing, pretty much. Sierra wasn't embarrassed or made shy by many things at all, but noticing boys--that was something new to her. She blushed a mild shade of red and then quickly turned away.
