As you enter greenhouse two you find a peculiar scene. Instead of the regular long table with bags of dung and empty pots, you find that the long table is covered in a lovely purple tablecloth and the greenhouse is decorated with extravagant displays of flowers and creeping ivy. In addition to this new phenomenon there are platters of lovely floral cupcakes all along the table, each embellished with various edible flowers. Pots of tea with teacups are also positioned at intervals along the communal table.
Professor Bentley is found sitting on the corner of her desk at the front of the room munching on one of the sugary cupcakes. The black board beside her, displays the following instructions in neat cursive writing:

So please note that any posts- which indicate to me that you are 'polyjuiced'- will be deleted. Professor Bentley would be very disappointed if she found out you were deceiving her. Thank you.
OOC: The lesson will officially start in approximately 12 hours. In this time feel free to RP your charries arriving and what not. The lesson has OFFICIALLY STARTED, please do announce your tardiness from this point onwards- unless you want to lose house points. Thank you! If you haven't done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules.
Also please do not chat excessively in this thread, there will be consequences if you do.
All SS Board Rules apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment. Please behave appropriately and most importantly... have fun.

"That's a good idea," Helena agreed, as she took a piece of parchment for herself and a quill to write everything down. "It's a good thing to know whether to run away or not." Yup. Definitely good. "And there's the Chinese Chomping Cabbage, that wakes up if touched." But that wouldn't quite be a good idea. To wake it up, that is. The second years and the older ones knew why.
There. They already had two ideas out of three.
"Alright. One more." Hmmm. How else could they identify a plant without looking at it? Helena couldn't identify them even if she looked at them. "We could also... check if they're poisonous or not, but that wouldn't be a good idea, since they might be fatal." So... what else?
She nods to the older Snake's idea. Poisons. Better be safe than sorry. "Definitely not going to taste them," mumbles Aiden while fiddling with her quill. "Perhaps through books?" she suggests, but her tone is curious. If they cannot taste or touch the plants to determine whether it is poisonous or not, then reading books is the only solution she could think of.
Unless if Helena does not mind the barbaric way she has in mind...

Simon was happy with Kurumi. "That's a great idea." Simon knew people smelt flowers and so they would know which one was which, he then suddeny had enough idea. "How about you find someone who isn't blind and ask them what the flower is." Simon was sure that would work, though asking a stranger might be weird.
He looked straight at Kurumi. "Okay so our group doesn't get into trouble I'll ignore it this time." He looked at Sierra and then thought to himself, that she deserved to be fed to the merpeople or a plant, that would get rid of the nastiness in her.
Kurumi nodded her head and added listening to the plant as a possible suggest. "That has a lot of possibilities actually," she chirped looking over at Simon. "You would be able to hear if there were any berries or cones on it." Or sharp teeth that were grinding or clashing together. Kurumi shivered a little bit in her seat at the thought of getting near a Venomous Tentacula without being able to see.
That certainly would cut out a few steps, finding someone who could use their sight and the plant's physical features to identify it. "Finding an expert would certainly make things easier," she agreed. Seemed to somewhat defeat the purpose of assignment though, using someone else who could define the plant by its physical features
Choosing to ignore his next comment, Kurumi brushed the feathered end of her quill against her lips as she thought a bit more. "Examining the land surrounding the plant would also help. Some plants do better in moist areas, lots of water and such."
Kurumi looked down at their parchment and giggled softly. Weren't they supposed to just come up with three suggestions? Not that it really mattered in the long rung. The more ideas the better, right?

Taste them? Definitely not. "I was actually thinking about that," Helena said in a slightly amused tone, "but I'd never try that either. Maybe we can go back to your idea with the stick. If we poke the plant, maybe the poison will just spill out."
"But the best thing to do is to keep a fair distance away," she finally concluded with a grin.
Books. Right. "Yes," the girl nodded in agreement, "if we know something, anything, we can start looking in the books." That if they had any. But Helena prefered to stick to the nicer part.
"What do we have so far?" Because she kept thinking and forgot about the writing part. Hehe.

"Alright, but we need three ideas," she says with a sigh. "We have..." Aiden continues as she checks her parchment.
SPOILER!!: Aiden's Parchment
Helena Hopkins and Aiden Heartnett (Slytherin)
Listen if the plants make noise.
Poke with a stick to determine wheter it is magical or mundane plant.
Researches through books.
After glancing through the parchment, she slides it towards Helena so the older Slytherin could read it.

"... three," Helena finished for Aiden with a grin, the moment the piece of parchment found its way in front of her to see.
They could as well add the 'check if the plant is poisonous' idea, but that wasn't exactly... an idea, since they'd never touch or approach a poisonous and unidentified plant. And even if they would approach it, it might be... you know, fatal.
Helena wrote down the ideas on her piece of parchment (she didn't really have a reason; she just wanted to have them there) and then looked around to see if others were leaving or not. Should they?

Simon looked at Kurumi, he was now staring at her, listening to her every word, he had no idea why, the only person he paid this much attention to was his parents, he didn't even pay this much attention to his girlfriend, he had a feeling it was because she had shouted at him and told him if he didn't pay attention she was leaving.
Simon drank a bit more of his drink and then he finally spoke. "I can't think of anything else." He sighed. "Can you think of anything?" He wanted to get the most ideas of everyone so that Kurumi could see that he did work hard sometimes.

Aiden who is now into the lesson does not want to leave soon. She wants to perform well in her finals so she will not have to listen too much of pure-blood supreme during summer break. If she could, she does not want to go back.
"You've anymore ideas?" asks Aiden who is incapable of giving more suggestions at the moment. Her face is getting straighter and the coldness of her grey eyes deepens as though the light has sunk deep within.

"You could narrow the plant down depending on if the plant has seeds or not." Wisteria overheard the student talking and approached her group. She was short a partner and wasn't exactly sure what to make of this first year, but she was willing to go as far as introducing herself. "I'm Wisteria Hartly." she passed a small smile to her and the rest of the group. "Don't know if that helped, just throwing it out there."

Any other ideas?
Hmmm.
...
"I suppose we could always just run towards the plant and jump on it to see what happens," Helena spoke slowly as she raised her shoulders a little bit. But... wasn't it a greeeaaat idea? Hmmm?
Nope. Definitely not.
"But no," she finally said, shaking her head. "No more ideas that might actually work. Do you have any other ones?" Because Aiden looked way more serious than Helena was at the moment. Hehe.

Realising that the Gryffindor girl is talking to her, Aiden turns her attention to what she has to say. After listening, she gives a tiny nod as a sign of appreciation. "Thank you for your suggestion. We'll take it into our account," her voice is low and sounds slightly arrogant, but the other girl has her gratitudes.
"Aiden Heartnett," replies Aiden briefly as Wisteria introduces herself. "Don't you have any group?" the third year Lion seems to be alone.

Aiden is sure Helena heard the Red's explanation. She turns back towards her partner and raises her eyebrows. "Well," she hesitates for a moment. "Do you think... That was a good idea?" she is not sure of the effectiveness. So, asking a senior's opinion shall be better.

Witsy raised both eyes, in account?, she said to herself, she would have normally been upset but there was something about this young woman she liked and decided to humor herself. "Thanks," she said half questionably not sure where that was going. She smiled a dignified look not so much arrogant as almost humble. She looked around the class noticing the other students were in full conversation mode, "Nope, kinda just drifting till I get somewhere." She suddenly felt out of place but was hoping that this group might be inclined to take her in. She had an interesting feeling with this group.

Helena was about to start laughing, but she managed to hold that. "No," she said, giggling silently. "I know it's a bad idea." And that it would never work, and yadda yadda yadda.
She also noticed as a Gryffindor seemed to have joined them. Or... has she? "Hello," Helena said, as she turned around to face the new girl. Might as well be nice. Hehe.

A voice diverted her attention from Aiden and she noticed another Slytherin. She smiled, "Hello back." The energy around her seemed less tense than the energy around Aiden. Perhaps she's an over achiever, she thought.
She looked between Aiden and the other girl, passing a look like, so... what now.

Penny had thought of another thing about plants..."My grandad always said never to eat wild mushrooms, cos you don't know til you eat it if its poisonous...but for all other plants a person could do the Universal Edibility Test, to check which plant and part are edible"
Well Enya was happy someone was taking what she said into account, and that person didn't happen to her HER BEST FRIEND! Enya turned and glared at Louisa and even more when she noticed the girl didn't cross her suggestion out on her parchment. She only said! no need for the younger girl to snap at her! To take her mind off the fact she really did want to just snap at her friend she turned back to her parchment and copy'd what the other girl; Sierra? had written.
Ideas
Ask someone who knows (Herbologist or expert)
Test the plant on a creature
Research (books)
Observation (Which animals eat it? How does it react to other things in nature?)
She was glad that her suggestion had been put on the list, she'd only been sarcastic about it to cover up her outburst a moment ago. She meant, why hadn't any one thought of it before!? Sigh. Twiddling her quill between her fingers she sat through both her partners giving yet more suggestions. "Wouldn't that be boring?" She asked lazily looking at Sierra, who would want to observe a plant for god knows how long?
But then Louisa was going on about science yet again, "Do you ever shut up about science? this isn't the muggle world you know.." She shot at her friend, dropping her quill and turning to face her. Hello fight number...what number was it?
Louisa opened her mouth quickly to shout at this snotty girl who happened to be her BEST FRIEND. But closed it biting her tongue. They were in class, and the Professor could take points from Ravenclaw... precious points they needed. For the sake of her house, she didn't answer the 'shut-up' comment.
"Observation is boring only for those who don't have reasons to observe." Louisa replied quietly without turning to look at Enya, she kept playing with her quill, "I'm going to write down the analyzing part. Although I'm not sure if magical plants do have different substances from each other that can be found in labs." She paused, "Maybe there are labs in the ministry." Shrugging, she added this one to the list and looked at Sierra ignoring her BEST FRIEND. Again. "Any other ideas?"
SPOILER!!: Louisa's Parchment
Ideas:
1. Ask an expert.
2. Testing on creatures.
3. Research. BAAAH!Enya
4. Observation.
5. Analyze in Ministry's labs.

Enya glared at Louisa. Ministry labs? What was she on about? That was just stupid! Very much stupid. She scoffed and looked down at her sheet of parchment. Enya took her quill in her fingers and roughly turned her parchment, she put quill to parchment and began to draw. Draw what she didn't know but she was bored. Very bored. She placed her chin in her hand as she drew more.
"You idea's stupid Louisa, Ministry Labs. Ha, dream on..." She said crawly not looking up from what looked liked a portrait of someone. She didn't care if she was hurting her friends feelings, she could deal with it. She'd dealt with worse from her, but she peeked nevertheless. Just in case. But Louisa was ignoring her. Oh mature. Real Mature.
Enya pulled back from the desk and glared at her BEST FRIENDS back, her quill sitting on her drying half finished drawing. "Oh ignore me, that's helpful!" She scoffed. Turning her page back over she jottered down the next ideas before going back to her drawing...

Kurumi looked up and down their parchment, comparing and contrasting the list they had brainstormed as a class with what her and Simon had come up with. It seemed as though their ideas covered all the aspects they had covered as a class, so perhaps their ideas were enough? "We covered all the more practical ideas," she smiled turning her violet gaze back to Simon. "So we could either say we are done or try to come up with some unconventional ideas such as...hiring the aid of the Department of Environmental Protection to come." Which actually was entirely possible since her father's best mate worked there at the moment.
Giggling softly, Kurumi looked back at Simon. "Shall I add that to the list?"

A great answer "Willaim told Penny. "Do you mind if Theea tiurns in our work?" William asked Penny.
"Shall I add that to the list?"

smell it
listen to the plant - how the wind blows through its leaves and what not
find someone who can identify it for you
check soil surrounding the plant
Simon was still staring at Kurumi. "That is a great idea." Simon smiled, that would surely work. "You could even get a talking animal from somewhere to tell you what it is." Simon smiled. "You know like from like Narnia of that film." He didn't care if Kurumi thought he was talking weird.
Simon continued to stare at Kurumi. "We'll I could get a team of Gardners to tell us what the plants are before they plant them." Simon smiled. "Or I could get someone to rename them so we know." Simon laughed, though he probably could do that since he was a Prince, he had a flower named after him in Hollian.
Simon smiled as he looked away from Kurumi whilst he drank the rest of his tea. "How about this." Simon said looking back at Kurumi. "We dig up all the flowers find out what they are, then tie something to it, that way we know which flower is which by feeling the shape, that way you wouldn't get confused everytime.

"You've read Narnia?!" Kurumi chirped nearly flinging her quill across the room in surprise. She had had to sneak reading the book under the sheets of her bed with a flashlight in her hand late at night when everyone else was asleep due to her mother banning any talk or books on magic being in the home. Funnily enough, the book had been a gift from her father and had given it to her with the disclaimer of it being their little secret. "I love those books!" But now wasn't the time to discuss literature. Perhaps at a later date?
Shaking her head to try and remove the desire to discuss books, Kurumi focused more on what Simon had suggested. "That is assuming that all talking animals know everything there is to know about plants. We are witches and wizards, but we don't know about every single form of magic," she said gently. "Perhaps we could ask Professor MacFusty is Lady Rosamund would be able to help. She is brilliant."
Kurumi giggled and had to cover her mouth to soften the sounds when she heard his next suggestion. "Just make up our own names for flowers and create our on set of Herbology guidelines?" She wasn't even going to write that one down, but it was hilarious. "While I am not sure I like the idea of digging up a plant after it has already been planted, it might be a good idea to place a Permanent Sticking Charm on the seed or bulb or something else in the before planting. You could use Accio label when you were unsure of what you were planted and then banish it back into the ground after."

A voice diverted her attention from Aiden and she noticed another Slytherin. She smiled, "Hello back." The energy around her seemed less tense than the energy around Aiden. Perhaps she's an over achiever, she thought.
She looked between Aiden and the other girl, passing a look like, so... what now.
Eyes still scanning the parchment as there are invisible notes written on it, Aiden calmly speaks. "You can join us if you like. We still haven't reach the limit of group members yet," it could be tell easily that she is concentrating... Or that she is in no mood of socialising. Aiden has never payed so much attention before. Not even in Potions.
Staightening her back, Aiden stretches her neck and lets her muscles relax. Then, she slides the parchment to the middle of the table so every members of the teams sees it.
SPOILER!!: Aiden's parchment
Helena Hopkins and Aiden Heartnett (Slytherin), Wisteria Hartly (Gryffindor)
Listen if the plants make noise.
Poke with a stick to determine wheter it is magical or mundane plant.
Researches through books.
"What else?" mumbles Aiden partially groaning. The only idea she has is a barbaric way which is not a good idea after all. She realises that she is the youngest member of the group who does not act much of her age.
Arms crossed, the grey eyes wander around the greenhouse. Everyone else are discussing in their groups. Their voices overlap and makes some sort of noise. Aiden does not like noise which pretty much explains her behaviour today.
An idea just crossed her mind. However, Aiden is not confident with the effectiveness and decides to ask her teammates' opinions. "What do you think about observing what kind of creatures are attracted to the plants?" she suggests with a little confidence in her voice. That might not be a good idea after all.
