Strong iron gates prevent students from getting out while making sure anything unwanted stays out. They can only be opened by the Professors and Staff and are always open on Hogsmeade weekends to allow for passage to the village.
Without looking up at her friend (yes, she'd called Star Seeker a friend), Sierra rolled her eyes. Why in the name of Merlin did Lola Jones insist on acting all motherly to her?! She was just set to ignore the girl when she heard that Lola had an idea for digging up the earth. Now Sierra wasn't too keen to learn from Lola Jones, but then again, the girl was a Star Seeker, and for that reason, Sierra gave her a lot of credit that she probably didn't deserve...
...like now, for instance. She was looking at Lola expectantly, waiting for some miracle solution to the digging, when the girl starting petting the earth and shouting declarations of love. "Lola!" Sierra exclaimed. Each time she and Lola had a conversation, she ended up fussing at the girl in the same way. Oh, Lola. Always up to something ridiculous. "I am not petting the earth and giving it declarations of love. Do we thank our potions ingredients each time we slice them, snap them, or boil them into a brew?" She started digging again, and then she added, "No, and the potions always turn out alright."
Then Sierra paused. Whaa...? "Lola! That's it!" Sierra cheered. "I'm so proud of you! Get it! Get it! Get it!" Now that was the Star Seeker she knew. She gave Lola a pleased smiled then went to smacking at the ground herself. Dirt was flying up in all directions, decorating the nearby bushes with soil and earthworms. Pretty soon, Sierra had a hole, as well. "I think we need fertilizer," she said, and then she turned a small bag of the stuff upside down and patted it into the hole. Then she put her seedling in.
Obviously, Sierra wasn't understanding the entire concept! How dare she not preach love towards the ground and fondling it as if it was the precious dirt that it was--something the girl didn't know. Of course, the next step was to bludgeon the earth with the shovel, but Lola did that to symbolize broken and shattered love in this corrupted utopia. The girl was very deep and emotional, expecting Greingoth to miraculously show tears for her outstanding performance, but no! People didn't understand the arts of DRAMA! She got disgusting encouragement and praise, rather than a sign or symbolism of rebirth and discovery. But she forgot about her entire thing when she saw Sierra following example as well and beating the ground for her seedling.
This was really some beautiful mother and daughter bonding. OH SOB OHHHH SOB.
"As a matter of fact, Sierra, darling," as if this was surprising, "potion ingredients deserve the BEST of our love--look at them, sitting in the cabinet storeroom, just waiting to be picked into a prodigious person's potions, and if not, they risk their lives for explosion and CHILD'S play!" If this was going to become into a debate of treating objects the way they were supposed to be treated, she had several valid arguments in her head. Sierra didn't know that potion ingredients... sacrificed their life for the enjoyment of OTHERS! "And rather, you'll get a sad, depressed potion just wanting to be dissolved down our digestive track already than my potions who, treated so well, wish to live part in our world forever." Did she understand? Lola Jones was acting out a professor now, humble and educating the minds of these dim-witted students.
She nodded immediately and followed back on task on the assignment, grabbing fertilizer from the bag and then pouring it down into the hole she just bludgeoned. "There you go, my seedling," she kissed it, "I have faith in you!" But after her recent act, deep inside, Lola did not have faith or hope in this seedling. It would be swept away in the depths of her poetic mind, yearning to escape from the ground she so trapped it in. "What will you name your seedling child, Sierra?" she asked in a glum voice.

"Well," Sierra said, getting a disgusted look on her face. "They were in the cabinet storeroom, until somebody decided to catch the storeroom on fire." The culprit still hadn't been caught, which really only made her angrier. A lot of ingredients had been lost, and what made the whole thing worse is that the ingredients belonged to Lafay, her Head of House and favorite professor. She drew in a deep sigh and released it slowly. She didn't want to say much about the storeroom fire. It still had the potential to put her in a slightly bad mood. She was so focused on changing the topic that she readily answered Lola's question. "I'll name her..." *dramatic pause* "...Lola."
Sierra adjusted the gloves she had on--yes, gloves. She'd remembered them all thanks to the classes she'd had with Bentley. She couldn't even remember taking Herbology her first year. Hmm. "Okay, so I think the next step is to pat dirt and fertilizer until it's packed around the tree," she said, and then she began the patting and packing. "I think it gives support or something. I don't know." She used her shovel to beat in some of the more stubborn patches of dirt. "Alright. What now?" She was almost afraid to even ask...

Lola almost forgot about the whole Potions Storeroom being caught on fire, obviously done by the horrible Dungeon Dragon (she had the silver scar on her finger to prove it) and in remorse, looked at her scarred finger and was deep in that fiery memory. She really didn't think of it as much of a damage to the school until she realized that there wasn't a back-up storeroom that affected much of her fun Potions plans this term. That would all have to wait for next year and she sighed thoughtfully before looking back at Sierra. "Do you see, Sierra? The Potion ingredients were so vulnerable and innocent! The person setting fire to that room--A COWARD!" It wasn't fair. The dungeon dragon must be slayed.
She stopped what she was doing when Sierra stated that she would name her seedling... Lola...
WAS SHE FINALLY GETTING THROUGH TO THE CHILD?! This was Mothers Appreciation Day, wasn't it?! "That's," she sniffed, "so beautiful!" If her hands hadn't been rigged up with dirt, then Lola would be hugging the girl to death (she would have hugged her anyways but felt a sense of consideration and was so awfully kind right now).
"I'll name mine Fernando."
Did the girl expect Lola to name the seedling after her in exchange? No, it wasn't that simple. See, the seedling was just calling out for the name Fernando and what could she do--snatch away its true name in return to do something nice? That was simply unlawful and Lola wouldn't do it--but that seedling obviously looked like a Lola and well, everything was just so reasonable. She remained quiet for now and started patting like the girl told her to, patting the ground now in an enraged fashion like she did with the shovel. What now?
"I think we have to leave them now..." she gulped. "Isn't that considered child abandonment?"

"Yeah, I'd like to get a hold of whoever set fire to the storeroom," Sierra mumbled, still packing in the dirt around her seedling. Again, she wasn't up to talking about it too much. She might even throw the shovel again if she thought about it. She'd been so sure the culprit would be caught by the end of the school year, but no. They'd gotten away with it. She tried to think about who might have a vengeance against Lafay, but the only person she was able to come up with was Headmaster Tate, and she doubted seriously he'd do something like set the storeroom on fire.
"Yeah," Sierra said, "..sweet." She guessed. She'd really only named the tree Lola, because she figured the real Lola would have a fit if she didn't. The last thing Sierra wanted was to hear even more of that ridiculous mouth the girl had on her. She considered naming the plant Lola her way of playing it safe.
"Child abandonment? Hardly," she said, pushing herself to her feet. Again, she was about to say something to make Lola happy. Mainly because Sierra was ready to go, and she couldn't really leave if Lola was bellowing unnecessarily. "The Sun will take care of the children." She grabbed her wand and added, "...and you're not finished either. You have to water your tree." Sierra raised her wand to her planted seedling. "Aguamenti!" A stream of water shot from her wand, giving the seedling a nice shower. She kept it that way for a little while and then she ended the charm and withdrew her wand.
"Now I'm done," she said, and then gestured toward Lola's wand. "After you water yours, we can go." On second though, she should just bail while Lola watered her tree. She would have, but she couldn't. All her materials were scattered all along the ground, so she reached down and started picking them up and putting them back into the bag.
Lola figured that Sierra was deeply jealous with Fernando and what not. Did she feel left out in this little group family that they suddenly had?! The Sun will take care of the children? She suddenly felt like the girl was getting the proper education that she always wanted for her! Oh the joys! "Oh right, watering!" Fernando deserved the supplements he needed! After she finished watering her seedling, she followed back with Sierra and then waved a farewell.
"Goodbye Fernando and Lola!"
