Strong iron gates prevent students from getting out while making sure anything unwanted stays out. They can only be opened by the Professors and Staff and are always open on Hogsmeade weekends to allow for passage to the village.

Maybe it was just her paranoia of being caught, but it felt like something was different about the boy. Concerned far too much with her own cover, she didn't spend too much time thinking about this, trying once more to perfect the Emma-stance after realizing she had been fidgeting. She dropped the locket gently to her chest and returned her arms into a crossed position, standing her ground though her blonde eyebrows were furrowed, glancing down at Emma's feet as though trying to figure out if she was making this look right.
At the wink, Alfie Emma reciprocated with a smirk, though it was a little off. Alfie wasn't the best as smirking, she didn't do it very often, but she managed. As Braeden suggested they go up to the castle for some food, Alfie Emma immediately gave a nod, glad to be going somewhere in comparison to just standing there awkwardly. Turning to go, she stopped in her tracks as she caught sight of a hand being held out to her. Braeden's hand. Her eyes flickered from the outstretched hand, up to the boy's expression, before returning back to the hand. Uh oh. They were a couple, they were supposed to hold hands. She'd nearly forgotten! Okay, alright, she could do this! But if Braeden even tried a kiss, she was out of there! There was no way that Alfie could handle pretending to be Emma to that extent! Standing like Emma was one thing, but kissing her boyfriend was entirely different. She repressed a shudder at the thought. No offense to Brae.
Flashing the boy a weak smile, she took his hand unceremoniously, avoiding eye contact as she attempted to grow accustomed to Braeden's hands. They felt weird, different, and she didn't really like it in the slightest. It was so weird to be holding hands with Braeden! But what was she supposed to do? Fake a hand injury?!
Theodore felt both relieved and strained that Emma had taken his hand, relieved that she was believing his rather lame act but strained because he felt like he was doing a disservice to his best mate and to Alfie. He shuddered to think what Brae had gotten up to under the guise of Theodore Dumble. If he was doing a good job of it, the only person probably able to sniff out Brae's trickery would be Bree. Alas, the silly tabby was probably snoozing away in the Ravenclaw Common Room near the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw, herself. Squeezing her hand slightly, Theo as Brae turned and slowly began to lead her up the path.
"So..." He drawled, the English accent rolling off his tongue still feeling foreign and strange, "Have you been studying up for your finals? I heard that Muggle Studies is the toughest exam this year." After a pause, his brown eyes widened with fear. No, no, no talk about studying was to be around he and Emma! Studying was so utterly non-Brae; studying was so Theo. "I-I mean..." He added, his voice trembling slightly as he sought to put it back into control, "I haven't studied one bit. I think I'm just gonna wing it, maybe see if Theo can help me out."

Alfie felt weird. She didn't like being Emma so much any more. It was fun when she was wandering around the grounds, not being herself. But now? When Emma's boyfriend was present?! No thank you! She was beginning to think back to her own boyfriend, a very recent development, and couldn't help but feel weird holding Braeden's hand, his best mate's of all people. Oh this was such a weird situation. She was distracted as the boy at her side mentioned finals, starting it out in what seemed to be not Brae-like. But he quickly finished with a very Braeden-like response to it; winging it, seeing if someone else could help.
At the mention of Theo's name, for a small moment, an almost dreamy sort of haze fell over the Malfoy's expression because it was, of course, Alfie who was behind the outer appearance. And being Alfie, with her affections for Theo as they were, she couldn't help but smile when she heard his name. Realizing this problem, she quickly wiped the expression from the Malfoy's face, eyes widened as she stared at the ground. "Um, yeah," she said quickly, clearing her throat. "Theo could probably help you with that." She searched her mind for something to say, anything Emma-like. "I like quidditch," she suddenly blurted out. It was the only thing she could think of! "So...yeah, I've just been..playing up a storm recently. Haven't had much time to...study. You know me." Unfortunately, Braeden did know Emma, and that was what worried her.

PHEW! So, the studying-for-finals screw up had been safely remedied. Maybe polyjuicin' it wasn't too bad after all... if you knew how to act, at least. Maybe a course in theatre would have done Theo some good before undertaking this task. Not as if he had gotten much of a choice, anyway; it was a final for potions, after all, and one didn't want to mess with Miss Hecate Lefay.
"Quidditch, yeah!" Braeden brightened up. I mean, Theo brightened up. Both of them did. Neither of them did. I SHOULD GET PAID FOR NARRATING THIS MADNESS. "Yeah, love, last game was a bit... a bit hard for a few of us. I'm really glad you won," He made as if to give her a kiss on the cheek but held back. That was crossing the line! There was acting, and then there was going to far. Oops. "Theo was just bummed that he couldn't play. My best mate, y'know..." His gaze fell to the dirt path that they walked on as the dramatic skills came naturally to him. Having gotten food poisoning minutes before the big match, Theodore had been resigned to bed while everyone else had had a ball. He couldn't help but think that had he played, they might have won. But no, that was presumptuous. What was done was done.

Alfie Emma listened as Braeden began speaking about the last game, something that Alfie unfortunately knew nothing about. As he mentioned her winning, she attempted to give a bit of a smirk, as though to show pride in her great win. But it was as she caught Braeden leaning in from the corner of her eye that Alfie began to freak out, fully prepared to make up an excuse and run away, when he suddenly thought better of it. Oh thank Merlin! As the conversation returned to the game, her heartbeat returned to normal, glad that she had narrowly avoided a kiss on the cheek from Braeden Stonem. What if she had to report back to Emma and explain that?!
She hadn't known there was a game, so of course she hadn't attended, and therefore didn't know that Theo had to sit it out. Curious, she lifted her head as though to ask why, but quickly bit her own tongue in realization; Emma would have already played, she obviously would've known what had happened! "Yeah, it was too bad that he couldn't play," she agreed, simply playing along though having no idea what she was talking about. "But, he's okay now right?" she prompted innocently, hoping that Emma wouldn't already know that fact. Alfie sure didn't. But maybe Emma would. Would she? Oh man, this entire narration deserves awards!

Emma's short answers were giving faux-Braeden nothing to work with. Nothing at all! Thus, he felt like his performance was lacking. Oh Merlin, somebody save him! Checking the watch on his left wrist, he noticed the time. Exactly how long had he been polyjuiced?! It was only supposed to last up to an hour! He had walked out of the dungeons with Brae, had a short chat, and then had ambled all the way over to the front gate. Time was ticking away quickly, and the effects of the potion were bound to wear off soon! What an embarrassment it would be to turn back into himself and to have Emma run, screaming her head off, about Theo being a psycho!
Theo as Brae picked up the pace. "Sorry, I'm just... hungry. You know me. I need my nightly four-course meal," Chuckling light laughter that, oddly enough, came easily to him and sounded completely authentic. Pulling a Brae, Theo had forgotten that Emma had even spoke with his mania over losing time. "He's fine, yeah, I just saw him earlier! Studying away, you know!" He forced out a laugh, which sounded like a weird bark, and immediately shut himself up. That could have been an immediate giveaway to his true identity.

It was now seeming that Braeden was acting a bit strangely, there was no denying that. But Alfie had no time to put her finger on what was different, she was too busy worrying about her own cover! She wasn't talking enough, it must've been weirding the boy out! She quickly summed up Brae's weirdness to hunger and focused more on her own, keeping up with him as she tried to figure out what Emma would say in this situation. She, Alfie, would much prefer to remain silent and stare at something as a solution, but that obviously wasn't an option. "Well, I'm glad he's okay, but I can't say I regret beating the 'claws," she spoke up with a rather believable Emma Malfoy smirk, straightening up her shoulders more so she stood more confidently.
"Anyway, I'm pretty hungry too, Brae," she muttered, glancing up at the castle as it got closer and closer. "I feel like I haven't eaten in a while. You know, because sometimes you just get caught up in things, and you don't remember that you need to eat! It happens to me sometimes, I feel like I've been distracted all day," the girl began to ramble, making up for her quiet Alfie-like attitude before with more than necessary talk. "So yeah, I haven't eaten in a while. And then I was practicing in the pitch and I lost track of time." At the end of her speech, the blonde Malfoy flashed the boy at her side a smile, that didn't necessarily scream Emma but definitely didn't point out Alfie. That was what she was going for. She too was beginning to be aware of their hour ticking by, and worried just slightly. It hadn't felt like that much time had gone by, but...who really knew?!

Theodore was glad that Emma seemed to have inherited Braeden's appetite. No, more than glad: ecstatic. If he changed back into himself before they were back, Theo was royally screwed for life. Or at least, for the rest of his remaining days at Hogwarts. "We can split a treacle tart or two," He grinned, not even sure if that was Braeden's favorite dessert or not. Theo should have known these things, but alas, fear and anxiety made all sense escape him. "But yeah, I need to go find Theo, too. Need to talk to him about helping me out for those... those exams, you know." Through all of the madness, Theo had forgotten that out of all subjects, Braeden was particularly good at muggle studies because of his heritage. However, the poor polyjuiced kid didn't even realize this as he continued to tramp up to the castle, his best mate's girl awkwardly clutching his sweaty hand.
Ronnie walked up to the Front Gate and saw William by himself, looking at it. She smiled and walked up to him and watched as he pointed is wand at it and say a spell. It then changed and looked more even then before. "Good job!" she said, patting his back and giggling. "I haven't really been here much...it seems pretty cool to me so far!" she said smiling and looking around.
" Thanks, that meeans a lot to me coming from you" William told Ronnie. " Yes, the Front Gate is just a place we can go and look at the outside world" William said Ronnie. " How do you like the lake?" William asked Ronnie.

Jory wandered to the front gate of the Castle. He hadn't been here since he arrived at Hogwarts. He was still Polyjuiced as Ari. He had half an hour before he turned back to himself. He turned to look at the Castle. It looked marvelous set against the blue sky. His second home. He would miss it when the end of term came but he was looking foward to seeing his parents and sister.
Janice, in Raven's form, suddenly remembered of the DADA Homework that Lord Borr has iven to them. She went to the front gate, and searched for her tree. It looks like there's no difference, she thought.
She took out her wand, and said "Aguamenti."
Then, she left the place.

Seedling in one hand and bag of supplies in the other, Sierra headed out to the front gate. Well, not actually to the gate itself, but she was in that general area. They were supposed to plant a seedling along the edge of the Forbidden Forest to block out enemies, but none of it made any sense to Sierra. I mean, who couldn't get past a tree? A tree, of all things! It wasn't like the seedling was going to jump out and eat a Nundu or something.
She walked until she found an area that looked like a good place to plant. Of course, she knew nothing about planting, so this could be a terrible place for all she knew. It looked good, though. It was pure ground--no roots, rocks, or anything that could get in the way. Plus, it wasn't too shady, so the sun could still get there. She tossed her bag of supplies to the ground then looked at the seedling. What was it anyway?
Lola had been so excited to learn this so called 'Defense Against the Dark Arts' and meet this voluptuous man of the name, Lord Berty Borr. Meeting that man would be so good on her future resumes, but unfortunately, all that was left were these assignments that encouraged to do the good in the world. She was a proud humanitarian and thus, proudly did all of these under Borrs' bidding. The girl had her seedling and her supplies, carrying it as if they were delicate things because they simply were--what if she dropped this seedling and be GUILTY of SEEDLING MURDER?!
And yet she was so innocent.
She walked towards the Front Gate of the school and was half-surprised that her DAUGHTER had been there, as if she had just been waiting for her arrival. "SIERRA?! Sierra, my dear? Are you nurturing the natural foundations of our school?! I'm so proud of you, darling!" She playfully twirled in the air and gave the second year girl a quick peck to the cheek before taking a long hard stare at her surroundings. Where to plant this...? Lola was suddenly distracted by where Sierra was planting her seedling. She gasped--"What are you doing? NO, m'dear! Not so close! What if a unicorn were to cross our path? Don't plant it over there, you're BLOCKING the unicorns!" She scolded. Honestly, Sierra was a bit daft sometimes and needed to know the importance of roaming unicorns.
Meanwhile, she found a nice spot--a spot where unicorns could freely travel around and prance around her seedling UNLIKE THAT HORRIBLE SPOT SIERRA PICKED THAT JUST SCREAMED 'UNICORN DISCRIMINATION.' Shovelling shovelling oh the wonders of digging up the earth.

Sierra jumped and even cringed a little when she heard that voice. Honestly, if the girl wasn't so useful of a Quidditch player, she'd have ditched her months ago. As it was, though, Lola Jones was Slytherin's answer to a star seeker, and if they wanted to win, they needed Lola. What did that amount to? It amounted to Sierra actually being civil to the girl, of course.
"Lola," she said, turning around to see the girl carrying a seedling of her own. Oh, good. More house points. "Erm, I'm just...doing Borr's homework?" Nurturing the foundations of the school? She could care less about that. Well, so as long as the place lasted so she and her future children could benefit from it, she was happy. Then of course Lola had to say something to completely annoy Sierra...
"Unicorns?" she asked. "I'm sure there's plenty of other spaces between the grounds and the forest for the unicorns to come through." Had Lola even seen any unicorns come through here? At all? Doubtful. "Hey, Lola? Do you...happen to know what kind of tree this'll grow up to be?" It might make a difference in how it's planted, and once Sierra got started, no way was she pulling everything up and redoing it.
Was it fate that led both Sierra and her here to do Borr's homework together? The girl could have been somewhere around Hogwarts, someplace else, but no, obviously her motherly senses were simply reaching out for Sierra and that--that was the power of love. How was she so blind before? And yet another reason to thank Lord Berty Borr, for reconciling mother and daughter at last and spreading the love around this Hogwartian community. She was, as usual, lost in her thoughts and was standing there, giving Sierra a rather strange stare.
"Borr, that man," she said, lost in admiration, "You know I've never met him before, but I heard that the man was just OOZING with gold and galleons, and he's just walking with all that weight on his shoulders!"
A little gossip could spice up this little conversation.
"No no, Sierra, I insist, you're using up the magical unicorn route!" Lola sighed, continuing to shovel up the ground in hopes of finding a nice little home for this seedling. What kind of tree it will grow up to? "Well I really don't know Sierra. Your seedling looks rather dull, so perhaps it'll grow up to be some sort of a Muggle lawyer."
"But mine--mine looks like it'll grow to be adventurous and rather fun--A magizoologist, I'm assuming." OH HOW PROUD SHE WAS THAT SIERRA WAS HAVING HER OWN TREE BABY.

Sierra shrugged nonchalantly. "My father knows him well. They work in the same office," she said. It occurred to her she'd never told anyone exactly who her father was, though there weren't many Greingoth's around, were there? "He's the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic. My father, I mean." Then of course Lola had to know Borr was the Minister of Magic. As she talked, she knelt down and pulled a shovel from the bag of supplies. She jammed it toward the ground, expected it to pierce right through, but no. Instead, she nearly broke her hand.
"Ouch," she said, throwing the shovel a good ten feet. It whizzed past Lola's head. "Stupid shovel." She mumbled a little under her breath then accio'ed the shovel back to her. This time, she placed the shovel on the ground, tip first, and pushed hard until she'd brought the surface. Annoyed look on her face, she continued digging, trying to get a hold large enough to put the seedling inside.

Nessie walked over to the front gate. She was kinda bored and she was once again strolling with Puffles her Pygmy Puff. She was pretty tired from her finals. She was in some ways looking forward to get home, but in other ways she wished she could stay home. Ness sure did miss her family, but she would miss her friends too.
Nessie noticed a girl she had recognised, Ness couldn't remember her name but since she was highly friendly Ness walked up to the girl to greet her. "Hey!" said Ness trying to be all cheery.

Lola opened her mouth with sheer jealousy. Her father met Lord Borr? Wouldn't that basically mean she herself had connections with the man?! She clasped a hand towards her lips in a theatrical motion, shocked that Sierra Greingoth's father was the Senior Undersecretary thing for the Minister of Magic. Of course, her father had a part-time job in the Ministry as well but didn't have a title so large and grandeur that she never thought this girl had. With that, she felt the need to befriend the girl even more (if she hadn't already) because all famous people have strong connections with other famous people right?
There was much thought to this and once she finished ogling over her future, she went back to planting her seed. She went back to just talk about if Sierra had any other famous relations when suddenly--"WHAT ARE YOU"-- the child had gone mad, for she was throwing the shovel at LOLA'S direction and thank Merlin she hadn't suffered a concussion.
Was this a sign of CHILD rebellion? She'd read about it in the articles but to have it coming from her one and only.
"What are you trying to do?! THE SHOVEL IS NOT A WEAPON, CHILD," she preached and was shaking her head with disapproval and shock. And then the girl simply went back to Accio the object and continue on with her life. Oh the audacity! Sierra obviously seemed to be frustrated with the ground and Lola sought it was right to teach her about how to correctly dig up the earth and put up a tiny seedling. "No no no, follow example over here," she said and then immediately knelt down to the ground caressing it with much affection. "Love me, ground--and thy shalt love you!"
Then she reached her shovel and started slamming it down on the ground, "WELL TOUGH BILLYWIGS," Lola screamed in rage and immediately used the shovel as her own weapon to the ground, "YOU WILL BARE THIS SEEDLING!" And with enough bludgeoning, she innocently smiled back to Sierra and placed her seed into the ground with much care. Obviously the girl followed suit in watching Sierra with that beater bat, because the ground was really just a Bludger, begging to have children of its own. Oh how poetic she was.

Then she reached her shovel and started slamming it down on the ground, "WELL TOUGH BILLYWIGS," Lola screamed in rage and immediately used the shovel as her own weapon to the ground, "YOU WILL BARE THIS SEEDLING!" Without looking up at her friend (yes, she'd called Star Seeker a friend), Sierra rolled her eyes. Why in the name of Merlin did Lola Jones insist on acting all motherly to her?! She was just set to ignore the girl when she heard that Lola had an idea for digging up the earth. Now Sierra wasn't too keen to learn from Lola Jones, but then again, the girl was a Star Seeker, and for that reason, Sierra gave her a lot of credit that she probably didn't deserve...
...like now, for instance. She was looking at Lola expectantly, waiting for some miracle solution to the digging, when the girl starting petting the earth and shouting declarations of love. "Lola!" Sierra exclaimed. Each time she and Lola had a conversation, she ended up fussing at the girl in the same way. Oh, Lola. Always up to something ridiculous. "I am not petting the earth and giving it declarations of love. Do we thank our potions ingredients each time we slice them, snap them, or boil them into a brew?" She started digging again, and then she added, "No, and the potions always turn out alright."
Then Sierra paused. Whaa...? "Lola! That's it!" Sierra cheered. "I'm so proud of you! Get it! Get it! Get it!" Now that was the Star Seeker she knew. She gave Lola a pleased smiled then went to smacking at the ground herself. Dirt was flying up in all directions, decorating the nearby bushes with soil and earthworms. Pretty soon, Sierra had a hole, as well. "I think we need fertilizer," she said, and then she turned a small bag of the stuff upside down and patted it into the hole. Then she put her seedling in.
