Smiling he tied off her braid with her pink scrunchie and leaned over and kissed her cheek. "I hope so." He replied softly, not realizing he'd let out another puff of veela scent. "I'm not saying they're not cute I'm just saying that you might want to think about it some more." At her comment that guys acted like girls couldn't protect themselves, he shook his head. "It's not that at all Dani. From babyhood we're taught that it's our job to protect everyone. And with Luke, he never really had a childhood. I mean from the moment you and Dan were born he was given charge over you. In his mind he is your Dad. There will be times when that line blurs for him, like your first serious boyfriend, I don't envy him when Luke gets ahold of him."

"Yeah, I will" Dani smirked at him as she sighed and looked around listening to what he said next before she looked back at him- "I know he is.. he really is like my Dad. It's just... And I'm already on the way to my first serious boyfriend" she giggled as she thought about the letters he'd been sending her for a few months now, she turned and giggled as she smiled at Connor. She knew she still had feelings for him, she knew she always would- but she just didn't think he would ever be interested in her, ever be jealous of her boyfriends- she just didn't think he'd ever want her.

Connor sighed at her words. He bit his lip as a huge pang of jealousy hit him. He didn't know if he could hide it, but he tried. "So who's the guy then? Not that friend of Patrick's you keep writing to?" He hoped it wasn't. There was something he didn't like about the guy and he knew that Luke would be waaay more overprotective than he was. "Dani this guy's older, He's going to want to be galavanting off to University soon and he's going to want to take you away." He whispered, turning his face away.

Dani watched him closely- was he... no, no he couldn't be. He had Orabelle- or at least he was going to have her. He wouldn't drop that for her... "Yeah... hmm, yeah he's one of Patrick's students" she said with a little sigh as she looked around- "I know... I know... he won't take me away" she smiled as she moved and turned his face gently back to face her. "He could never force me away from you guys. I may have to go out wherever he goes and visit him at first. But y'know..." she shrugged and sighed as she looked into his eyes.

Connor looked down at his hands, picking at his black painted nails. "I don't even want to talk about his Dani. I don't want you following some guy all over the world. I don't even want to think about it." He sighed. Who was he kidding. Besides She must not have really liked him at all if she could move on so fast. "I night feel different if I had someone too but right now it just hurts to think of you with anyone else."

"It does?" Dani asked him softly as she looked around- "Connor, I..." she started- "You know I just had to... move on a little right? I was... not in too good a place... Colton made me... well, happy again" she said completely honestly. She moved over to kiss Connor's cheek- "And right now, you're the absolute best friend a girl could have. And a brother- I won't ever forget that... who knows, maybe it could be something more in the future? But right now I know you're still wrapped up in Kurumi and Orabelle" she smirked at him- "And you need someone to support you through that- who better than me?" she laughed as she hugged him tightly.

Connor sighed. "I've all but given up on a certain third year with an affinity for cookie baking, and I've not even been on a date with Orabelle. I like her, I just wish I knew if she liked me. I don't want to make a fool of myself like I did with Kurumi." He sighed as he leaned back in his customary place with his head in her lap.

Dani stroked his hair and sighed- "Oh, of course Orabelle likes you" she said, finding it hard to believe any girl wouldn't like Connor. She leaned over and looked down at him- "Not long until my birthday now" she smirked as she looked down into his eyes- "You remember, huh?" she laughed, knowing he would remember for sure, they never forgot birthdays.

Oh great, and now she was upset at him for telling the true side of Finn. Very smooth. He personally couldn't really see how girls, who had a previous relationship/encounter with him could still be so blind. The boy wasn't even that handsome! Watching her collecting her stuff with hardened eyes, he remained silent. Whatever. It was her heart getting broken, and he had done all that he could.

"Bye, Fallon," he said, waving. "...take care. Don't fall for every 'cute' face." Ugh, cute. They boy wasn't even 'cute'... It was just disgusting. He watched the fires for a while, trying to forget that face of Finlay.

"Of course I remember love, I could never forget your birthday." He smiled. He wondered if the gift he'd bought was too...well he'd have to come up with something else. "So what do you want for your birthday?" He asked, thinking the Jewelry he'd made for her would definitely be inappropriate.

"It's not up to me- it's about what you want to get me" Dani smirked as she pecked his cheek warmly. "I really don't mind- it's the thought that counts" she said softly, after so many years of rubbish un-thought about birthdays when she'd been at home- they'd become more sentimental now. "I made you something" she laughed as she pulled out a string bracelet- but it was in guy colours so, he'd be fine. She tied it around his wrist- "Bond bracelets- see, I'm matching" she laughed as she showed him hers. "I'm getting special leather ones made so they won't break. They just show that we're... well, bonded- however we are together. Best friends, siblings... y'know, maybe one day more" she sighed, ever so slightly hopefully...

"Well in that case, I already have it but you're not getting it till your birthday." Connor smiled as the tied the bracelet on his wrist, that made two of her bracelets he was wearing cause he was sure she'd put one on him earlier too. he smiled up at her. He yawned but didn't want to go to his dorm. he turned over where he could look at her and he blinked his sleepy blue eyes and yawned cutely again and closed his eyes and fell asleep righ there with his head in her lap

Dani smirked a little and moved when she saw the other bracelet she'd given him was still on his wrist- aww, that was sweet. She watched him as he fell asleep- it wasn't like this was weird for them. They practically lived in the same house most of the time. She sighed and sat back- wondering how on earth she would get to bed herself, but she leaned down and kissed his cheek softly first. It was probably best she just stayed there.

Connor woke a little while later to see her watching him sleep. He smiled up at her. He didn't move, didn't say a word just gazed up at her.

Dani smirked as he gazed at her, she waved a hand in front of his face- "Hello? Earth to Connor" she smirked playfully as she watched him. "Everything okay?" she asked as she gave him a quick hug.

Connor smiled. He hugged her back and sat up stretching. He smiled softly. "I guess I was really tired." He yawned. He'd been spending a lot of time outside lately and he felt feverish, like he was coming down with something. He laid back on the couch and closed his eyes again. He could not seem to stay awake.

Dani watched him, a little worried as she looked into his eyes- he lived in her home half the time. She knew when he wasn't well. "Connor... do you need to go the Healer?" she asked him softly- it could just be a cold or something thougH. She watched him as he closed his eyes again and she lay topsy turvy to him on the large couch.

Connor shook his head. He remembered the last time that he'd seen the healer. She hadn't exactly had the best bedside manner. He was a big baby when he was sick and he just wanted his Mom or someone that loved him as much as his Mom. He grabbed a blanket and bundled up in it. "She'll probably just give me some pepperup potion and tell me to go about my business. No thanks, I'll get over it." He mumbled.

"Aww" Dani said softly as she moved to hug him- "Well, I guess I'll have to look after you then" she smiled warmly at him. "Now, number one thing is rest- but you seem to be getting that down already. Number two, don't go outside- and number three, don't over exert yourself" she smirked- "And you'll feel better soon" she nodded assuredly as she perched nearby.

Connor smiled at her. "Thanks Dani. I appreciate this." He looked at his watch, It was 12:01 am Today was her birthday. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver heart-shaped gift box Inside was something he'd made a while back, a Celtic Heart Necklace. He hoped she liked it. "Happy birthday Dani."

Dani smiled widely, gasping as he passed her the little box- "Oh, Connor" she said softly as she opened it up and smiled widely- "It's so beautiful!" she said as she took the pretty necklace from the box and moved so that he could clasp it around her neck for her- "It's perfect. Thank yoiu so much!" she said softly to him.

Connor smiled at her as he put it on her. "you're welcome Dani." He smiled. A large brown barn owl flew in and dropped a big gift wrapped box in her lap and a envelope. He knew what the gifts were. Mizuki and James had bought her a pink outfit complete with pink flats and a pink handbag shed been buying it piece by piece for months, and knowing his mother it included a necklace, earrings and new makeup too. And Luke sent her a letter and a pair of tickets for them to go surfing in hawaii over the summer, just the two of them.

Dani smiled after she had opened the presents from her family- she'd already recieved her present from Dan. She missed him- to think he was at the school to celebrate his birthday... she didn't like it. She let her fingers trail over the necklace Connor had got her and smiled, it was so pretty! "Ha, Luke's taking me surfing this summer- that is going to be awesome" she smiled widely. She loved spending time with Luke, she missed spending time with Luke. She understood his priorities had changed, but she wasn't going to be around much longer, well- of course she'd be around but... her priorities would change too. "I... guess my Mum forgot... again" she sighed, not even mentioning her Dad. He wasn't a part of this anymore. "Oh well!" she sighed as she put on a smile and moved to give Connor a hug. "Thanks again for the necklace, it's beautiful" she said softly.

Connor nodded. "You're welcome Dani." He hugged her again before stretching and going to bed properly.

Sam was sitting in his usual corner of the common room and watching everyone interact. He had a book in his lap as usual, only this time he was just holding it rather than reading it. It was already February, and he didn't know anyone. Really. No one. He had preferred books to people for most of the term, and he was beginning to regret that now. He was a little angry with himself for his shyness. It didn't seem to be this hard for everyone else. Everyone had their little groups of friends, and he didn't have anyone. He was starting to think it was probably too late to form any real friendships. He sighed and picked his book back up. Guess it was a good thing he had those; they weren't already too busy with their other book friends for him.
