The Ravenclaw common room is a wide, circular room at the top of the seventh floor. Graceful arched windows punctuate the walls, which are hung with blue-and-bronze silks. During the day, Ravenclaws have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. Overhead, the ceiling is domed and painted with stars, which are echoed in the midnight-blue carpet. There are tables, chairs, and bookcases, and in a niche opposite the door stands a tall statue of white marble: Rowena Ravenclaw. A delicate-looking circlet has been reproduced in marble on her head with the tiny words 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure' etched into the diadem. The statue stands beside a door that leads up to the dormitories above.
Come in, have a seat and make new friends. Welcome to Ravenclaw!
Kaela walked into the common room and took in her surroundings. "I can't believe I'm really here," she whispered to herself. Around her so many students were so busy chatting away that they hadn't even noticed her. She crossed the room and headed up to her dormitory.
Breanna walked into the common room, looking around grinning. "This is amazing" she sighed. As she walked to the stairs, where in the dormitory would be her luggage, she ran her hand over the couch. Mmm. Pure softness. She could tell this was going to such a good year.
Ember grinned at Charlie. " Thanks, and yes i think we will be great friends, i also thought i was going to be put into another house, my whole family have been Gryffindor, but im not going to lie i have always loved reading." Ember whistled and a barn owl flew through the open window. " Yup this is my owl Braemar."
"Aww, your owl's gorgeous." Charlie said stroking its beak. "My owl's in the owlery and I was just going to head over there. Do you want to come?" Charlie asked her new friend.
Ember turned when she heard Olivia talking to her. She smiled at the other girl. " Yes i have, but there are quite a lot of us, were a really big family. You see if you hadn't mentioned it, i would have thought that we may have been related in someway, due to your hair." Ember thought the Shade of Olivia's hair was terrific. " Its a lovley colour."
Another girl came over while Ember was talking to Olivia and Charlie. She liked talking to these new people, they were defiantly her friends and she knew they were all going to get along well. " Hey Luna, im Ember, Ember Weasley, its nice to meet you."
''Ember weasley lovely name'' said Luna in a very sweet voice ''How do you guys like the common room'' said Luna sort of trying to make conversation ''I wonder if there all the same but in their house colours'' said Luna curiously

Charlie just noticed that there was another girl talking to Ember. "Oh hi." she said smiling. "It would be cool if all the common rooms were like this. I like it, especially the books. Do you like reading?"

Ellie drug her trunk into the common room and stopped a foot out of the doorway, looking at all the cheery faces, happy and talking with friends, meeting new people. If only she felt the same. Instead she was as unenthusiastic as possible. She didn't want to come back. Usually it was her mum, begging her to stay home from Hogwarts, but this time it was the other way around and her mum made her go late.
Well she was here now. And she couldn't go back until June.
"Welcome back to Hogwarts," Hugo said as he peeked over his book. He was reading Wandlore 101 when he heard the eagle speaking. He got up from the comfy chair and walked towards Ellie. "How are you doing," he asked.
"Yeah...." Finlay eyed Spike, before laughing a little. Was he seriously going to take advice from his second year friend? Yeah. The dude was good on the quidditch pitch, but Finlay didn't think that the guy knew that much about what had gone on between Finn and Jim. "I might try talking to him then..." If he could ever get the guy on his own. That would probably be the difficult bit. He'd try later. Or like in a few weeks. That was totally later to him. Of course.
"Because I told you so? And I'm headboy. So like you have to listen to me." Yup. He had totally just made that up. But Spike would listen to him, because Finn just knew it. "Actually...Jim probably wouldn't hit you back." Finn mused, looking at Spike. "He likes you too much." Although...Finn had been Jim's best friend, and he'd still hit him a ton of times. He decided not to mention that too Spike.
Spike nodded. Finn totally should. Because Spike really didn't like the fact that they weren't talking. "Soon?" he questioned. He didn't want to wait too long, as then it'd be quidditch tryouts and stuffs. And to Spike that was the most important thing, not solving the girlfriend-taking problem.
Who'd want a girlfriend anyway?
Spike eyed Finn, his lips scrunching together before clearly turning to a sulk. But it'd been such a great idea! Hang on? Finn was Headboy? His eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open. Wow. He was taking to the Headboy. He looked sheepish, suddenly more in awe of Finn - if that was possible. "Of course," he said quietly. He wouldn't defy the Headboy. Or at least, he wouldn't show that he was. Spike could be ever so sneaky when he wanted.
And...Jimmy liked him? Like, he looked up to Jimmy and stuffs...but Jimmy liked Spike too? Oh my. Between that and Finn being Headboy, Spike was slightly overwhelmed. He sat there quietly, mouth slightly agape.
Breanna walked into the common room, looking around grinning. "This is amazing" she sighed. As she walked to the stairs, where in the dormitory would be her luggage, she ran her hand over the couch. Mmm. Pure softness. She could tell this was going to such a good year.
While Hannah and Hugo were talking, Rowan sat on the sill looking out at the lake. She turned just in time to see a younger girl enter the room and hear Panda jump down off the sill. "OH NO! PANDA NO! OH LOOK OUT NEW GIRL!" Rowan jumped off the sill just as her large cat Panda pounced on the girl. "Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! Don't worry, she won't hurt you. She's just... well, a brat. Apparently she likes you. Hi. I'm Rowan by the way," she said.
Olivia grinned. "Thank you! Yours is great too. I might be biased, but I love red hair." Olivia's smiled widened further when she saw Luna walking over. "Me and Luna met in the Great Hall," Olivia explained before looking around Ember to another girl curiously.
Ember nodded. "yup im not going to lie any kind of red hair is epic, but i must say all colour hair is unique in its own way." Ember looked up at Luna and smiled. " Thank you, Luna is a really pretty name and i love the common room i think its fantastic."

OOOooh! Farmilliar face! Kit gave a few trills and did a few circles around the boy. Arching her back, she rubbed her head and neck against his hand. In her excitement, she flopped over onto her back and rolled a few times. Yeah. This place was awesome!
STOP. Hammertime. Kit froze, then quickly dashed up into Kana's lap.
Kana dropped the quill and sat up, placing one hand over Kit, and holding out the other to calm the girl. "N-n-n-no, it's okay! She's not a rat. Kit is a ferret -- a nice ferret," she assured her. Kit peeked out from behind Kana's fingers and twitched her pink nose at the girl.
Kana nodded, confirming her first-year status. At that thought, she took another look around the common room. First year. Soooo much ahead. Then she looked back down to the paranoid girl, and thought that introducing herself might relieve some tension.
"I'm Kannalynne. This is my friend Noel. And this," she lifted her hand from Kit, sensing that the immediate danger had passed, "again, is Kit Caboodles." The ferret was still curled in Kana's lap, her little fluffy tail covering part of her black face.
"Hi," Noel nodded at the older girl, but his expression didn't turn completely friendly yet. Kit had run away from him back to Kana, although he was sure that the ferret had recognized him, and he blamed Louisa or whatever her name was, for scaring Kit away.
Besides, really, even if Kit had been a rat, was it really necessary to make such a big deal out of it?

She kept her eyes onto the little thing between the girl's hand and got up slowly, her wand lowered now but still on the ready... just because she didn't trust that 'Kit'.
"I'm Louisa..Carter." She said without looking at the kids. "And..I just thought it was a rat because...well, it does look like one from my distance." Aaand they, kind of, scare her. "Anyway, your Kit's lucky that my cat isn't here this term or she would follow her all the time and trying to.." Swallow. "..get to know her." There, no need to scare those kids on their first night at Hogwarts. Although they weren't the ones who screamed 'RAT RAT' and have their wands clutched tightly.
"Cat?" Noel's eyes widened as he turned to Kana startingly fast. "You might want to keep close tabs on Kit from now on, you know, you wouldn't want her cat anywhere near Kit if she's anything like her owner," he observed.
He didn't really notice how rude he might have sounded to Louisa until after he had finished speaking - and he hadn't meant to be mean or anything, he only meant that if Louisa's cat was as jumpy and ready to attack Kit, the little ferret might be better off close to Kana at all times for her own safety.
Although he might not have been paying as much attention to what and how he was saying things in front of Louisa as he usually did. She did seem quite nice and it would be great to have a friend in one of the older years, but Noel just couldn't completely get past the Kit-as-a-rat thing.
A knocking on the window drew his attention, and he turned to see Rogue trying to get in. Grinning and momentarily distracted from the girls, he let his black owl in, trying not to wince as his pet gave him a peck on the finger. Rogue still hadn't quite gotten hold of the loving-peck habit, and whenever he tried more often than not Noel would end up bleeding.
Ember smiled. "Thanks Luna, i think its great, i couldnt ask for more. Im in a great house, and everything is cool. Are you looking forward to class."
''Yeah defently'' said Luna pickin up her pygmy puff ''Which class are you most exited for Ember'' said Luna then puting her pygmy puff on her shoulder
Cleo walked into the common room and saw that everyone already had their friends. that just made her more nervous she looked for a familiar face. she spotted one and walked over " hey Ember, mind if i join you guys?"

Still, its the thought that counts, right?
Kana reached into her pocket with one hand and pulled out two little treats-- actually, they were cat treats, but ferrets liked them, too. Holding them between her fingers, she let Kit take them in her little black paws and quickly ate them. She pressed her lips together just a bit as she listened to Noel's words, and how they sounded. She said nothing, but gave him a look of "take it easy".
Kana gave Louisa a smile "Pleasure". Wether or not it really WAS a pleasure reamined to be seen, but she didn't want to seem rude. She gave a small laugh and glanced at Kit, who was now sitting up in her lap, feeling a little less scared. "Oh, I'd say she can handle herself. She's small, but she's wiry, and knows how to hide. Don't you, Kit?", she asked in a knowing tone. The ferret hid her face behind her tail again.
Kana looked back up, "But I'd keep an eye on your jewelry. She dosen't mean any harm, but she's a little thief. She'll snatch quills, envelopes, pens, money. I usually find her hiding places, but she's sneaky." She thought it best to warn as many people as possible, so that when things went missing, they'd know who to ask.

I usually find her hiding places, but she's sneaky." She thought it best to warn as many people as possible, so that when things went missing, they'd know who to ask.
She knelt down and snatched her thrown robe from the floor, her eyes not leaving the ferret thing as the boy... mouthed at her? She raised her eyebrows and glared at him. "Excuse me? If my can was like me." She repeated seriously, "What's that supposed to mean?" She played with her wand threateningly.
After a minute of thinking, she decided that the reply would only make her mad. "Don't answer that." And she continued in a bitter tone, "Besides, I told you my cat isn't here.. as in Hogwarts." The image of her unconscious and tailless cat popped in her head and made her flinch.
Her attention turned back to the girl who was more polite.. though she was the owner of the ra- ferret! Why was it a big deal that she confused a ferret with a rat, anyway? Not that any of them looked pleasant. Heh.
Oh and now she was a jewelery thief? Louisa's eyes widened. "I have to hide all that? Well you might consider to lock her up or something.." She didn't suggest the inevitable; Return the pet to the shop. "..Seems an easier way than warning a castle with thousands of students about a thief." The sarcasm wasn't hidden in her tone and she really found the idea of locking her up amusing.
"Oh, I remember alright," Dallin said with a chuckle. "Seven floors! Then another flight of stairs to the dormitory." It was madness! He was pretty in shape as it was, but seven floors was insane. Not to mention the riddle to get into the common room, which worked his brain almost as much as the stairs worked his body. Eurgh.
He cocked an eyebrow when she commented on Barty's name. "It started as Bartholomew Jackson the First," he said seriously. "I think I saved him by calling him Barty." But really, what had his sisters been thinking, naming the poor thing that? Dal had done the right thing in nicknaming the bird.
"Yeah," he said, his voice quieting a bit. "I've always wanted a dog, actually. A German Shepard." He had actually almost convinced his parents to get one, once. Until his sisters had stepped in and puppy-dog-eyed their dad to get what their way.
He had to physically stop himself from smiling when she said her pets and their names. Even Bartholomew Jackson was better than Frenchfry. He wasn't going to say that outloud, though. Instead he asked, "A crup, huh? My parents would freak if I got one of those." He smirked, imagining what would happen if he came home from DA with a crup. "Do you like it, though? Are they much different from normal dogs?"
He burst into laughter at her clarification of 'Gavin.' "That's a shame," he said, frowning. "Because I was just going to ask how I would go about getting a firstie as a pet." He calmed down enough to stop laughing, but he was still grinning. Then he looked at the prefect and added, "I'm totally joking, of course." Just in case she didn't get that.
"A falcon, though, huh? That's really cool." Cooler than an owl, at least. "Does it send letters like owls, or is it just for show?"
Chuckling, she agreed. "Way too many stairs." Just thinking about it made want to rub her calves.
"Bartholomew Jackson the First." Her eyebrow came up a bit at this. " Well that's a mouthful." With a giggle, she nodded. "I think you did save him. Poor Barty. If not, the other owls would surely have made fun of him."
Running her hands through her hair to pull it away from her neck and fan it over the sofa a weird habit she had sometimes when she was relaxed, she gave him an approving thumbs up. "Well if you were ever to get a dog, that's a great choice." They were very intelligent looking dogs. "Those are the awesome dogs law enforcement muggles use right?"
Giving him a suspicious look when it seemed he was fighting a smile at her cruppies name, she poked him with one slim finger. Right on the ribs. "Hey, I didn't name him, the twins did when well, they were going through a I'm only eating french fries phase." That last quote was given in her best imitation of her little brothers who currently had the high squeaky pitched voices of Huey, Dewy, and Louie from the muggle cartoons.
Giggling a bit at her impression, she continued."Not much different." In reference to his question on crups. "Except for the fact that he used to bark like mad if any muggle approached." Shrugging her shoulders, she continued. "But my grandparents come over all the time so he eventually got a little calmer."
Grinning widely at his comment, Ivory couldn't hold it in. Laughing genuinely, she looked around just be sure said person wasn't lurking around. "I'm sure it would involve many odd circumstances." At that she covered her mouth sheepishly still shaking in laughter as she tried to answer his question. "Yup just like a regular owl, sends letters and whatnot-" But she couldn't hold it in. Her entire sentence was punctuated with giggles. "We should," Giggle." Go up to the owlery one day," Chuckle. "So our two looney birds can meet."
Cleo walked into the common room and saw that everyone already had their friends. that just made her more nervous she looked for a familiar face. she spotted one and walked over " hey Ember, mind if i join you guys?"

While Ember and Luna talked about class, Olivia found herself slightly out of the loop temporarily. She didn't really mind, though. She saw another girl walking over and smiled in a welcoming way as she asked Ember's permission to join them.
''I love reading and learning'' said Luna ''That reminds me I have to go to liabrary tommorrow'' said Luna
"I might go tomorrow too. It'll be so fun learning about magic. I'm just going to go the owlery just now, do you want to come?" Charlie asked, standing up.

"I hope you guys don't mind if I tag along," Olivia said brightly, standing as well. She didn't have an owl because she'd brought her cat Max instead, but she wouldn't mind having something to do.
Belatedly, Olivia had a thought just before they got out of the Common Room. "Wait. What about curfew? Does anyone know when it is?" Looking around, she'd noticed that lots of people were actually starting to go upstairs. She didn't want to be a drag, but she also didn't want to get in trouble her very first day!
