Melina noticed a girl walk into the common room and plop down on one of the couches. Looking at the girl's snacks made Melina a bit hungry. Even though it was just after the Feast, Melina always had room for sweets!

And-wait- what was that? No, it couldn't be. An iPod?!?!? Melina didn't even think those worked here! She hurried over to the girl.

"Merlin's polka-dot socks! Is that an iPod?!" she exclaimed, not even remembering to introduce herself.

Charlie smiled back, "I don't think I've collected your gran's card but I'll look out for it."
"Thanks," she said, "but Ember's better," she grinned.
Charlie laughed. "You like getting in trouble, that's funny. I hate getting into trouble. Well, opposties attract I suppose so we should be good friends." Charlie felt comfortable talking to this girl and continued the conversation.
"I thought I was going to be put into Hufflepuff because my dad was put there when he came here but I love books so I guess that's why I'm in Ravenclaw."
Charlie remembered about her new pet owl Midnight and asked, "Do you have an owl?"

Yeah its an Ipod touch and its lime green with skulls on it.Yeah it still works you can get them on ebay sweetheart.I've also brought a laptop with me.It to help me with my papers and such Printer to.My mom charmed the parinter to work with out electric.My ipod and lapop are charmed to recharge when the batter is low.

If there was one thing she'd learned about cats was that they were essentially creatures of comfort. Crossing her fingers that the cat was lounging around on the Gavin's bed, Ivory turned to Dallin. "Hopefully she didn't wander off." Because the castle was quite large really, so it might take them a while. It'd be an adventure for sure, but most likely tedious.

Speaking of which...
"Do you have any cats?" she asked curiously, you know while they were on the subject. "Or any other pets?"

Usually you could tell a lot about someone by what they chose as their companions. Then again sometimes those companions just happened to be chosen by well meaning loved ones.

Stella was never shy, when she needs to say something or to express her opinion she says it, even if the consequences will be against her. "Your like me but also very different than me," said Stella hoping she is making sense. "Usually I don't show a guy I like him but I'll try to make him like me back, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't." When Kyle began talking about her last boyfriend Alexander, Stella smiled deviously but also friendly, "I remember Alexander very well, I used to make fun of him all the time." She knew he was mean and that he dislikes it when people laugh about him, so she mimicked him all the time just to irritate him, but it was worth it. "That guy really is a moron," she added twirling the tip of her hair around her finger.

When Kyle told her about the first year boy that he called her pretty lady she smiled but didn't laugh. "Why do you think it's adorable? It's sad," she said raising an eyebrow but she also smiled because it was a bit funny. "I would send his parents a letter for immature behavior," she said in a posh English accent, mimicking the professors.

Stella also loved being with her aunt but she was sometimes a bit irritating, she demands too many things. "You want to work at the ministry?" Stella asked flicking her hair over her shoulder. She understood why because that what most wizards want to do. "So your brother and your father are kinda like spies?" Stella asked with curious look on her face. "Moving was probably hard for you," she added. "Yeah I actually do miss them but I don't know why, like we never had anything special," she said, thinking how cheesy she sounds.

"Yeah," Dal agreed, his eyes widening. He couldn't imagine trying to find a pet that had wandered off in the castle to who-knows-where. He was glad that his family had only let him get an owl, because when he couldn't find his owl, he knew it would always come back. He didn't have worry.

Leaning forward to loosen the laces on his shoes, Dal shook his head. "No cats, my mom's allergic to them. And most dogs, too. I think it's the hair or something." He sat back up, stretching his legs out again and turning his head to look at Ivory. "I do have Barty, though. He's an owl." He was also his first and only pet.

"What about you?" She kind of struck him as a cat person. No idea why.

"Yeah...." Finlay eyed Spike, before laughing a little. Was he seriously going to take advice from his second year friend? Yeah. The dude was good on the quidditch pitch, but Finlay didn't think that the guy knew that much about what had gone on between Finn and Jim. "I might try talking to him then..." If he could ever get the guy on his own. That would probably be the difficult bit. He'd try later. Or like in a few weeks. That was totally later to him. Of course.

"Because I told you so? And I'm headboy. So like you have to listen to me." Yup. He had totally just made that up. But Spike would listen to him, because Finn just knew it. "Actually...Jim probably wouldn't hit you back." Finn mused, looking at Spike. "He likes you too much." Although...Finn had been Jim's best friend, and he'd still hit him a ton of times. He decided not to mention that too Spike.

Waaiit. This girl was going on about a ton of eletrical things. Finlay eyed her carefully. Did she not know that nothing eletrical stuff worked at Hogwarts? That it never had, and probably never would. Excusing himself from Spike for a moment Finlay wandered over to the guys. "Hey..." Headboy here. Listen to me please. "You know all that muggle junk you're on about..." Like a idrod? ilod? Something like that. "You know it doesn't work at Hogwarts right?"

Grateful for your help, Gavin gave her a smile. "Thank you!" he said. "Somebody may have told us but I couldn't remember. I'll go look now," he finished with another smile.

This prefect name was Ivory. He had to remember that. Maybe he should write it down in one of new journals. He was afraid that with meeting all these new people, he would not remember all the names.

Gavin turned around and saw that his friend Emmy was now talking to another gir. He waved at her and took the stairs to the upper floor.

My Mom Charmed my Stuff so it would work here.She did to my sister stuff on her first year.Its something that my mom learned when she went to school In Romania for a summer.

Hugo couldn't help but hear a couple of words he had never heard of and walked up to the source. "Oh, are we inventing new spells?" he asked mindlessly and looked at the girls thing. "Merlin's beard! What is that?" he asked looking at the thing. WEIRD.

"Well...." Finlay smirked, crossing his arms. This girl was really not going to take no for an answer was she. "That was Romania, and this is Hogwarts. Items that need electric have never worked here. Why would they? It's not like we need them." They were at school. He didn't really get the reason why they wanted them so badly. As she couldn't really find anyone she knew, she sat down in one of the chairs by the fire.

"What?" Hugo asked. Okay, NOW he was confused. "I fail to see why you need to be so rude, I mean I just asked what the thing was," Hugo said pointing to the square wand thing.

"Oh good for him," Hugo fake smiled and nodded. He really didn't understand why this girl was a Ravenclaw. He shrugged and smiled again at the girl.

Whatever. Hugo sighed and went back to sit on the couch and bumped another girl sitting on a chair by the fire. "I'm sorry," he said and smiled. "I'm Hugo by the way," he said and nodded as he sat back down with his book.

Kyle nodded, yeah she and Stella were all alike - she couldn't help but laugh when she described her view on Alex, yeah he was a complete Moron. "You know I have to agree with you there we are both loads alike really...and Alex was an idiot" Kyle laughed "i think the only reason I said yes was because it meant he'd stop mocking me - i mean mocking someone to get them to be with you is something a five year old boy would do" she laughed slightly at this.

"Well - I don't know, he was rather annoying come to think of it and yeah, pretty sad hopefully he finds a girl his age" she remarked back as she looked back on the situation. Yes the little boy thinking she was pretty was a sad moment. "Yeah my brother and father are kind of like spies - more like journalists though since mostly they submit information to the Daily Prophet and what not but - I don't really know if I do want to work in the wizarding world in general." She added thinking.

"I almost feel like starting up a fashion house in London - one with a secret back room for only wizarding wares - or just one on Diagon Alley...selling things that make Wizards look more 'normal' when trying to visit the Muggle world" she remarked with a smile. A secret passion she hadn't told many people at school really. It wasn't like people couldn't tell somewhat with the fact she'd wear clothes that could be confused for muggle clothes some day. "So what do you want to do?" She asked with a smile.

Luna was sitting in the common room but then she saw Olivia her friend come in so she decided to go over to her ''Hey Olivia isnt the common room amazing'' said Luna then she saw a girl that was talking to her she didnt want be rude ''Hello i'm Luna Kierens what you're name'' she asked the girl

"An ipod touch?" Hugo asked looking at the ipod interestingly. "Interesting. How does it work?" he asked. Coffee? What was that again. Oh yeah, it was a drink. "I could make you a cup of coffee if you want," Hugo said. He'd have to walk all the way down to the kitchen level but if it would mean this girl would be nice to him he'd do it.

Ember grinned at Charlie. " Thanks, and yes i think we will be great friends, i also thought i was going to be put into another house, my whole family have been Gryffindor, but im not going to lie i have always loved reading." Ember whistled and a barn owl flew through the open window. " Yup this is my owl Braemar."

Ember turned when she heard Olivia talking to her. She smiled at the other girl. " Yes i have, but there are quite a lot of us, were a really big family. You see if you hadn't mentioned it, i would have thought that we may have been related in someway, due to your hair." Ember thought the Shade of Olivia's hair was terrific. " Its a lovley colour."

Another girl came over while Ember was talking to Olivia and Charlie. She liked talking to these new people, they were defiantly her friends and she knew they were all going to get along well. " Hey Luna, im Ember, Ember Weasley, its nice to meet you."

Olivia grinned. "Thank you! Yours is great too. I might be biased, but I love red hair." Olivia's smiled widened further when she saw Luna walking over. "Me and Luna met in the Great Hall," Olivia explained before looking around Ember to another girl curiously.

"Are you a first year too?" she asked Ember's friend politely. She wanted to find all of the first years because first years would have to stick together at least for a while. Olivia could tell just by thinking about learning where all of her classes were. They would all need as much help as possible when the time came to actually find things on their own in the huge castle.

Smiling as Gavin took off to the stairs, Ivory shook her head ruefully. So much energy! "I don't know about you," she commented to Dallin. "But I remember my first time here," Or really every time she came back to Hogwarts after a long time away. "It took me a while to get used to climbing seven flights of stairs just to get to our common room." Oh she'd been so sore her first week here as a first year. She'd never climbed so many stairs in her life.

"Barty the owl, nice." Grinning in approval, she looked over at the younger students for a moment frowning a little as she overheard one of them call another "super weird." Hopefully, they played nice or she'd have to get up. And she'd probably get up cranky since she was very comfortable at the moment.

Tuning back into the conversation, she gave him bit of a pitying look. "That sucks about your mom's allergies. Especially with dogs."

Trying to imagine what her home would be like without her lovable canines, she shrugged. "No cats for me either though. Don't get me wrong cats are cool," Take Arya's cat Persues for example, he was fluffy and snuggable and seemed very intelligent. "But," she added with a grin. "Dogs are totally cooler." Yup, she was dog person through and through.

"Frenchfry the crup and Oso the Siberian husky." she admitted proudly."Ooh and I also have Gavin." With a giggle, she realized they'd just been talking to a first year with the same name. "Not the boy," Because that would just be wrong if she had a first year for a pet. Wrong and immoral. "But my Gyr falcon." Her grin quirked up. Strange coincidence.

"Oh, I remember alright," Dallin said with a chuckle. "Seven floors! Then another flight of stairs to the dormitory." It was madness! He was pretty in shape as it was, but seven floors was insane. Not to mention the riddle to get into the common room, which worked his brain almost as much as the stairs worked his body. Eurgh.

He cocked an eyebrow when she commented on Barty's name. "It started as Bartholomew Jackson the First," he said seriously. "I think I saved him by calling him Barty." But really, what had his sisters been thinking, naming the poor thing that? Dal had done the right thing in nicknaming the bird.

"Yeah," he said, his voice quieting a bit. "I've always wanted a dog, actually. A German Shepard." He had actually almost convinced his parents to get one, once. Until his sisters had stepped in and puppy-dog-eyed their dad to get what their way.

He had to physically stop himself from smiling when she said her pets and their names. Even Bartholomew Jackson was better than Frenchfry. He wasn't going to say that outloud, though. Instead he asked, "A crup, huh? My parents would freak if I got one of those." He smirked, imagining what would happen if he came home from DA with a crup. "Do you like it, though? Are they much different from normal dogs?"

He burst into laughter at her clarification of 'Gavin.' "That's a shame," he said, frowning. "Because I was just going to ask how I would go about getting a firstie as a pet." His frown turned up into a grin. Then he looked at the prefect and added, "I'm totally joking, of course." Just in case she didn't get that.

"A falcon, though, huh? That's really cool." Cooler than an owl, at least. "Does it send letters like owls, or is it just for show?"

*sigh*

Ellie drug her trunk into the common room and stopped a foot out of the doorway, looking at all the cheery faces, happy and talking with friends, meeting new people. If only she felt the same. Instead she was as unenthusiastic as possible. She didn't want to come back. Usually it was her mum, begging her to stay home from Hogwarts, but this time it was the other way around and her mum made her go late.

Well she was here now. And she couldn't go back until June.

"Shut up! That's brilliant! I have a pink iPod Nano- I'm totally owling my dad to send it up here. I'll tell him to charm the batteries too. Oh my Godric, thanks!"

"Oh, and by the way- I'm Melina, but I also go by Mel and Glory- my last name is Morninglory, that's where the nickname comes from. Who are you?"

"Judging by the fact that you have an iPod and a laptop, you must be at least part-Muggle, right? I'm half-and-half."
Melina was excited to meet her- this girl was cool.
