This particular room has served as an office to a number of different professors over the years. Some of which include revered professors such as Septima Vector, Bree Geltz, Kali O'hara, Lesley Modulo Fox, Matthias Pythagoras Wenlock, Onyx Xavier Frost, and of course, Macadrian Ashling Shackleton-Clark. With each new Professor that has made this office homey, Josephina is sure they each brought their own particular flair to its decorations to accommodate their tastes. Just as Josephina did when she first entered upon this room just three years ago.
The walls have been painted a light blue-gray color and there are a handful of paintings hung around the room, giving off a rather comfortable feeling. One of the paintings is a rendition repainted by Josephina, herself, of a canal near her hometown in Perugia, Italy. There is a framed miniature Italian flag, as well as a third painting of of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As with typical office decorum, there is a large, polished wooden desk, that once belonged to each of her predecessors. It is piled rather high with various papers and worksheets, which is quite startling for a new professor and start-of-term. There are also two framed photographs sitting on her desk; one was of Josephina posed with her two sisters and the other was of her parents, Nicole and Marcus, sitting on their couch. Behind the large wooden desk sits a black executive style chair. Directly on the other side of the desk - where visitors may sit - are two smaller black chairs, but still just as comfortable.
There's a bookcase on the left side, which contains various titles that Josephina collected over the years. Some these include, but are not limited to, The Complete Book of Numerology, New Theory of Numerology, Numerology and Gramatica, A Look Into The Future, and Olde and Forgotten Bewitchments and Charmes. There are also muggle classic books by Charles Dickens and Jane Austen, for which are a few of Fina's guilty pleasures.
Though the door is nearly always open, proper etiquette dictates knocking and addressing your identity before entering. Especially as Professor Hadley likely has her back to the door where she is playing with her puppy named Baisley or her kitten received from recent graduate, Lorelai Bristol, in which she conveniently named Bristol. Just entering without permission is rude and punishable with either point deduction and/or detention for being disrespectful.
OOC: No, there is no waiting area, but please do not clog up this thread with useless chatter of 'waiting to enter'. Have your character knock and then wait for Professor Hadley to respond to either enter or to come back later.
There are plenty of places around the school that allow for chat with your friends; Professor Hadley's office is NOT the place for it and doing as such will be cause for appropriate discipline actions.

Yet if someone was there? "Doors unlocked," she finally called out, albeit reluctantly.

As she was on her way into Professor Hadley's office, which was usually open, but was surprised to find it closed. Weird. She knocked gently on the door, afraid that she might interrupt anything that was going on inside.

Yes! Or....no. Treyen, ever so slowly, turned the doorknob and opened the door. Just wondering if perhaps the puppy was up and about, wouldn't want the creature to wander off to the corridors, right? That could be great exercise for Fina. Not that he was thinking she needed it.
Sigh. Never mind.
"Professor Hadley!" he greeted, with a smile, as he finally stepped inside. Oh, lookit! There was Baisley! Yeah, hi Baisley...and kitten which name we're not familiar with. "How is your beginning of the year?" see? What a little gentleman.
He took the liberty of allowing himself to one of those mints she kept on her desk, and then sat in one of the chairs. Mmmhmm. Comfy.
That was his reason for coming inside, no? The mint?
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Oakey sat down patiently waiting his turn to see the Professor. to occupy his time he took his wand out and held onto the rabbits foot that Harvey had attached to the end of it. He also starred deeply at his right hand holding the rabbits foot not taking his gaze off the strange scar shaped like the roman numeral four.
This is why he went to see Prof. Hadley this scar he got when he was at Eeylops must have meant something. With the Professor being the Arithmancy Teacher, and his Houses Moderator she would have to be able to help him understand the reason he has this scar.

Legend had taken to roaming the castle, before the workload began to pile on and for some reason he feet had lead him to outside Professor Hadley's classroom. It was interesting. Without much thought he raised his hand and knocked lightly on the door.

Listening and glancing up for the door to open, Josephina made a face when there seemed to be some sort of lag. And then it opened to reveal the new Hufflepuff Male Prefect, Treyen Lockhart. Smiling warmly at him, she set the parchment she was writing on inside the book and closed it, setting it off to the side, as he smiled at her puppy.
And what would you know, he also helped himself to a mint! "Hello Prefect Lockhart," she smiled, taking a mint for herself and popping it into her mouth. "Off to a slow start actually, but no too shabby. How about you? I trust you're adjusting to your new responsibilities? No major problems with Hufflepuff first years, right?" She wasn't their Head of House, but that didn't mean she couldn't give them a good scolding if necessary.

She nodded at the oldest of the three, and lastly she looked at the young gentlemen seated who was preoccupied in studying something... "And hello young man..." Who i don't know yet. "You three may all come in and have a seat if you like, unless you'd like to speak with me privately."
With that, she propped her door open and returned to her seat. Not before conjuring two additional chairs though for the students, however.

Oakey looked up when the door opened. She greeted everyone but him graciously. Ummm My name is Oakey Gunter Ma'am. I'm a First Year Hufflepuff He looked back down at his hand that was holding his rabbits foot attached to his wand, then looked back up at her. He wanted to deal with this issue in private, but he found himself getting up and taking one of the seats she had conjured up. What would the others think of his issue. He became nervous and began to sweat a little.

Hmmm, so it was pretty much a little after dinner, and what better way to end the day before bed than to go bug a Professor who had gotten her in trouble? Normally she'd never think of doing such a thing for their Arithmancy Professor, but...no. Bugging her sounded nice. All the while being a bit crafty about it of course. She didn't want Hadley knowing she was doing this on PURPOSE.
Which was why she was here, leaning against the door frame, and knocking two or three times. Quite loudly too.

So, the fifth year cleared his throat and nodded, "Great, better than the last one," he said, and that was true, except for the little incident by the Ravenclaw table, but yeah, compared to last year, this was like Christmas.
Oh. THE FIRSTIES! He had no idea where they were or how they were doing! Thanks Hadley, for making us remember that. Sigh. "I think I'm adjusting well," he said, trying to smile a little, but it was perfectly clear that he forgot he was a Prefect this morning.
And then more arrived. It was amusing that she asked them to wait if THEY wanted a private audience, while she didn't bother to ask him the same.
He didn't mind, though. It's not like he was planning to take Lord Borr out of the Wizarding Community or anything of the sorts. If there was something he was planning was his future.
The boy nodded at the ones on the doorway and smiled at the Hufflepuff one. A boy, first year, whom he failed to see at the feast, and who'd failed to see in the corridor towards the office. Great job, Lockhart.
"Actually, Professor," he started to say, eyes going from Oakey to Hadley, "You seem like a very bright person...and...I wanted to discuss some part of my future with you, if that's alright." Yes, everyone went to their Head of House, but he was getting answers from every single person he could before going up to the Hospital Wing. He didn't want the pretty Healer to know he had no idea what to do with his life.

"Well, no...not really Professor." She answered with a small laugh "I actually I came to ask if it would be possible for me to find out in advance what the first lesson would be..." She asked shyly. She didn't know if it was allowed or something "Because Arithmancy isn't really my best subject and I would like to study in advance for the lessons." And she really wanted to win that house cup...so the more she knows, the more she can recite, and the more points Slytherin can get!

Giving the Professor a small nod, Legend made his way inside the office. He was vaguely aware of how full it was. Why was it that students felt the need to see all their Professors before class started? Legend found it silly.You only needed to see Professors when it was important. He only ever usually saw Hadley in the beginning of the year, and that was always because he had something important to tell her.

Very polite young boy, she took note of, as she also noted he couldn't be more than a mere age of twelve. But considering he just said he was a first year, that pretty much confirmed her views. It was no wonder Treyen wasn't having trouble, if the new batch of Badgers was all similarly mannered to Oakey. "Very nice to meet you, Mister Gunter. I'm Professor Hadley, if you didn't know, Arithmancy Professor." The latter, she added on for formalities, but she gathered he knew that somehow.

Before was she was able to respond for the other Hufflepuff in her presence, there was a knock... no, correction - four knocks - two for each of the students that her hazel eyes glanced over waiting outside her door. One, she knew to be Evelyn, who oddly enough had never really visited her office much before. And the other was a new student, in which Josephina assumed to be like Oakey and wanted to greet her.
"You two may come in, if you'd like," she smiled warmly at the pair, as she conjured up a couple more seats. Merlin, if it kept up like this, she would have to move the students to the classroom.

Back to Lockhart, who seemed startled in being referred to as Prefect. Perhaps Captain would have been a better title for the boy to get used to; though Josephina didn't personally know his sister, she had visited the trophy room a couple times in the past three years to know his sister had been captain.
Smiling warmly in appreciation at his kind words, she nodded. "Of course. Did you have something in particular about your future you'd like to discuss? Or are we going into this completely blind?" Because you know, as an expert numerologist, she'd dealt with both kinds of people. Those who knew what they wanted in life, but just lost their way, and yet those who had absolutely NO idea.

Well that was a relief sort of, that the girl hadn't just come to make sure she was well after the apple. But her request came has sort of a shock to Hadley; not really a shock because people HAD asked her that before, but most students learned that in general, she wasn't one to give away her lesson topics in advanced. Frowning apologetically, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, Miss Prewett, but I can't really help you with that." She said dismally. "I understand your reasonings, but it would hardly be fair to your classmates and I seldom give out my lesson topics ahead of time. If I did want you to study something in advanced, then trust me, I would let you know. However, if after the lesson, you are still having trouble with the material, I would be more than happy to spend some extra time on the material with you."

Figures that Legend Chosen, of all people, would want to speak with her privately. Turning at last, but not least, to the seventh year, she blinked at first at his request but then nodded. "Why don't you come back in an hour and a half, Legend?"
Perhaps it was elementary, but Josephina felt oddly nervous about what Legend wished to discuss with her.

Deeply. Did Hadley give out free chocolate or something during the day and she didn't know about it? Why were there so many students in here already?
"Erm...I can...come back later if needed." she said hesitantly, looking at each of the students. She recognized some from lessons, although she did narrow her eyes at Train dude. Obviously, she didn't want to come back later. Everyone else can just leave.

"Course Professor." Legend nodded and turned to make his way out of the office. An hour and a half. He wondered what he could do in that amount of time that could keep him busy but NOT get him in trouble.
He'd just have to find out.
It was only when he was out of the Office did he notice that Hadley had called him Legend once more.

No, not yet not until he get's an answer from Professor Hadley.
Back to Lockhart, who seemed startled in being referred to as Prefect. Perhaps Captain would have been a better title for the boy to get used to; though Josephina didn't personally know his sister, she had visited the trophy room a couple times in the past three years to know his sister had been captain.
Smiling warmly in appreciation at his kind words, she nodded. "Of course. Did you have something in particular about your future you'd like to discuss? Or are we going into this completely blind?" Because you know, as an expert numerologist, she'd dealt with both kinds of people. Those who knew what they wanted in life, but just lost their way, and yet those who had absolutely NO idea.
Ooooh, he got a smile out of her. That was...odd. Were they going to get along perfectly now? Was she not going to take the opposite side to his ideas?
If that was the case, then he didn't come in the right moment. Nevertheless, the boy kept his sitting place, and then leaned forward to her desk, his right elbow was now placed on top of the cool wooden desk. Yes, he was getting comfortable here. And he even took another mint. "Blind?" so, he could discuss anything that popped into his head? That was kind of fun, but it was something he'd enjoyed doing with Kapoor, he wasn't doing that with Hadley, "Not really, I just...I've been considering career paths and all," it was never too early, Hadley, okay, "But, I'm not precisely sure which path to follow," and he wasn't going to let Arithmancy tell him the answer to that, "I talked to Nolan during the summer, and he asked me what my best subjects were...yet I didn't feel like focusing on any of them after Hogwarts is done," like, he didn't feel like becoming a Potioneer, and Quidditch player didn't appeal to him that much, he also disliked numbers as to keep on looking at them for quite some time, never mind the fact that he knew Arithmancy was more than numbers.
"We discussed wand-making and research, too," he said, and tapped his fingers on the table, "I still haven't reached an answer...," and he was serious about this, he didn't want to start his sixth year without having a clue what to do with his life, after all, he was free to let go of unnecessary subjects by then, "...how did you find out?" when she was still a little Huffie girl, that is.

Presuming Legend would only need no more than thirty minutes, she said decisively, "If you'd like. That's entirely up to you. Perhaps in two hours?" She suggested, as she wrote the girl onto her appointment book. She could always cross her out if Evelyn decided to stay now.

As Legend left her office, she made sure to write him down in the block an hour and a half from now. You know, so she didn't forget and could kick everyone out of her office then. Presuming they hadn't left on their own before then.
A glance toward Treyen, making himself comfortable, told her that he was one she might have to use force with.

The number four, eh? Leaning forward as the eleven year old lifted his hand toward her, Josephina squinted at it as if it were some sort of alien specimen. Interesting, very interesting indeed. "Off the top of my head, no," she said, honestly. After all, it wasn't like it was a number prevalent in any of her own core numbers. "However..." she paused again, as she walked over toward her bookshelves and pulled a rather large text from the shelf, blowing some dust casually from it, as she cracked it open on her desk. "Ah yes... very interesting indeed. The number four is symbolic of stability and security, but more importantly it is about practicality. Hard work. Cautiousness. Building and formation. Basically, everything that makes up a Hufflepuff." Was it a mere coincidence then that this boy had been scarred with a number that would mark his future house? Very interesting indeed.

Eying the Prefect as rested his elbow on her desk and popped another mint into his mouth, Josephina simply ignored it. As long as he didn't think they were going to become best friends - which they weren't - then she was fine with whatever else. She listened as he explained what he'd considered for his future plans, as of now. He was only a fifth year, so there was plenty of time. Sort of.
"Research might entail you to pick a few subjects that you would focus on." Hadley commented, tilting her head about the wand making suggestion. "Wand making would be good. It's not direct knowledge of one particular subject that you would need for that. How's your knowledge of plants and their magic associated with them? You might also need to know some magic associated with numbers too..." You know, for how to know what length wand will be good with each core and whatnot. It was then that she realized he asked her a question. "I..." How did she find out? "Honestly, I just enjoyed most of my classes and was a bit of an overachiever. Blame the Ravenclaw history in my family. When I graduated though, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but it was through my traveling the world a bit for several years, working with numbers and teaching people to read their own numbers, that I realized I enjoyed teaching people."

Staring at the Professor for a moment, Evelyn weighed it over in her mind. Ehhh. "I guess that's fine." she said quietly, glancing to the others in the room. Hmph. Ruined her perfectly perfect plan. Then again, Hadley would probably be tired of talking to all these students in two hours sooo...
That could work too. "I'll be back in two hours then." What in the world was she going to do to pass two hours? Actually...what couldn't she do in two hours? Sooo many options, but where to start!? Rather distractedly, Evelyn made her way out of the office and into the corridor again.

Really!?! Oakey asked happily out loud. His entire outlook on his scar had took a drastic change. Wow! I thought it to be some terrible omen, Thanks a ton Hadley Oakey sat up and began to leave, he took another look at his scar then back at the Professor. I need to go thank my owl for this. Oakey waved to her with his scarred hand and left the office.

For the first time Treyen Lockhart was aware of just how much Hadley could talk. He had no idea that after all the lessons, she still could talk and talk and talk...oh, wait, that was good for him, because she was answering his question.

And if she'd had said something that would of ACTUAL help, then he'd be grinning by now. Except, no, she DID say many things that would help him. One of them was, Hufflepuffs never knew what they wanted to do after Hogwarts, correct? Unless Quidditch was on their mind.
So, the research part, he got it, that will require for him to know what he wanted to research about, and he'd known that, but still. Nod. And the wand-making? "Well, I've been reading about wands and trees the summer before my first year at Hogwarts...I'm no expert at it, of course, but I know quite a bit about them," quite a LOT, actually, but he was being modest this time around, and he had to be, because he wasn't as gifted in numbers. In fact, Treyen had managed to forget that wands required certain knowledge in the numbers area. Thanks, Hadley.
Mmmhmm. Hadley also had had relatives in Ravenclaw? That was a neat fact. "So, it's not too bad that I have no clue yet," about what he wanted to do, "Right?" he was mostly looking for someone to say 'Yes, child, it's alright', probably. No one knows.
Treyen leaned back into his chair, the Prefect attitude put aside, "I...," his eyes went from the badge to his hands to Hadley, "See, Professor, I really have no idea, and all my relatives have changed career paths throughout their lives," except uncle Lex, he was always devoted to dragons, yet, he's been the only one to grace Durmstrang with his presence, "I don't think it's a bad thing at all," they just knew so much about many things, "It just isn't for me," he knew he got distracted very easily, and Hadley probably knows that from classes, so, it was important for him to retain focus, career-wise, at least.
And, yes, he was opening up to the Arithmancy Professor, the one he never thought he'll be discussing this with.
"Maybe I'm too young," his eyes eyed the badge for a second, he wasn't just talking about his future now, wasn't he? "Or maybe I'm taking it all too seriously, right?" eyes on Josephina Hadley.

Hmm, well she did find stuff to do in the two hours that she had to kill while waiting to visit the Professor's office again. Whether any of the professors find them acceptable to do or not, Evelyn didn't really...care. Besides, during that whole time, she found BETTER things to bug the Professor about.
Really, she was a bit worried she would just not feel up to doing this in two hours, but here she was, as excited as ever to go ahead and start/finish her plan. Ohh this was such a good day so far. Raising her hand, she knocked on the door a few times...making a little tune out of it as she did so; her foot tapping along with it.

Legend shuffled toward the Arithmancy door for the second time that day. For once he actually had something important to talk to Hadley about rather than just showing up and saying "NO MORE ARITHMANCY" or "Yeah I'm just here to be here." The seventh year brushed the blond strains away from his face and knocked on the door a couple of times.
