ACCENTS!

Lola loved accents to the death of her, and she just sat in her seat, dreamily watching the man's woooooords speak out of his mouth. My my my! HIS ACCENT WAS BEAUTIFUL. She tried to figure out which type of accent he was, and with deep curiosity, leaned in from her seat with big, wide eyes.

Ancient Runes were not her best subject but it interested her. They were ancient. And all... runey. When he told the class that he could transfigure them into a viking and possibly have beards, her eyes. Wider. WIDERRRR. "MEEE MEE MEE!" she volunteered, immediately standing up and taking her textbook with her, utterly clueless of any of these rune meanings.

As she was before him, she quickly flipped through the pages as fast as she could, using her fingers as reading points.

"Okay okay! It says here..." AHA! "Nauthiz. It means need. THE CRAVING of something... OR SOMEONE!" and so, Lola quickly put one hand in the air (the other holding the textbook) and dramatically motioned a gesture that showed her craving for the viking, waving her hands in circular motions around her head and mouth.

VIKINGS!

"Viking, please," she said angelically, bowing her head down. Beard and everything.

Salander gave his Gryffincess a proud smile as she recited her answer. By the time he faced front he saw the Professor transform into a REAL.LIVE.VIKING! sans long hair of course.

On the offer the Slytherin lad raised an over eager hand, the magic that a rewards system can do to jog the memory "Tiwaz Professor! Symbolized by a Rune that looks like an arrow pointing up! Means uh... leadership and honor and justice." Yup definitely one of the runes he used to carve onto his desk last term. "Me! I wanna be a Viking" he added quickly, pointing to himself "Could I have Mjolnir too?" Beams.

Oakey looked through his book til he found one that caught his eye, Dagaz was a rune that mean day, and good luck. This was Oakey's kind of rune. He stood up and made his way to Professor. Dagaz...It's a rune that could mean day, or good luck it is usually used as a good luck charm and spiritual growth. after Oakey gave Christiansen his answer he thought about it and decided on it. I'll take the whole package, grow my hair out too, I won't mind getting a haircut later.

OHMIGOSH ALEX WANTED TO BE A VIKING!

He wanted a beard! A REAL BEARD! Puberty had given him all this height, yet no facial hair yet. THIS WAS HIS CHANCE!

He raised his hand anxiously, stretching his arm as high into the air as it would go. "Well, there's Dagaz, which means breakthrough, awakening and awareness of some kind," he answered.

OK, BEARD TIME! He didn't even care about the rest of the viking outfit. He just wanted hair on his face. Hehehe.

Zara stared even more. First Professor Christiansen turned his clothes into a somewhat Viking-looking one. Now he was offering the whole class on who wanted their clothes to be transfigured. He was nice. An awesome professor really, but it was pretty funny.

Still, Zara remained glued to her seat. She preferred her uniform, and her seat mates weren't moving as well. She waited patiently for the next question, seeing as she hadn't had the chance to answer the first one.

OOOHHH!!!

No. Jolly. Way! He was going to turn them into vikings. Peyton's hand immidiately went into the air and said, "W-w-wuuunj-joo," as carefully and understandable as possible. These words were WEIRD and made her feel like a fool. "It means joy," Because she was a joy to be around, hehe. *Wink*

"May I be a viking now?" she asked, batting her eyes innocently. She wanted to be a viking.

Maddox nearly fell out of her chair when he said they could be viking. She jumped out of her seat and walked as calmly as she could to the front and waited her turn. "Ehwaz and it means horse. I like horses because Poseidon created them from sea foam." she answered. "Can I have a beard too?" she asked bouncing on the balls of her feet eagerly.

Oooh, costumes! Melina loved wearing costumes in the ballet, and in her many theatre performances. This guy was brilliant! She raised her hand confidently while rifling through her new textbook. She'd never studied runes before. But the tiny 1st-year wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing- she felt she had to uphold the image.

She read from her textbook. "Yes...um.. Uruz is a rune and it means vitality and energy. It's used for strengthening the will during hunting and also to increase...(her face went scarlet, her voice dropped to a mortified murmur)...potency."

Oh my Godric. Why? Too bad I don't know the spell to make myself disappear, she thought while sliding as far under her desk as she could.

Dallin was this close to just leaving the room. He didn't understand Runes in the first place, and add that to the professor who could hardly speak English and Dal's head was spinning. Was he expected to learn anything now? Well, it just wasn't going to happen.

He thought for a second, wondering if by some miracle he could remember a rune. He raised his hand. "Uh, Gebo?" He could be totally wrong, but he wanted a beard, so he was going to try. "I think it means... gift? And Partnership." Figures that would be the one he remembered, huh?

"And can I have a beard please?" One that matched his hair color, preferably.

What in the world?

Evelyn couldn't really do anything but just stare and nod every now and then once someone spoke up. If...that could even be considered a nod. More of a twitch. Was the Professor wearing a viking outfit? And he was asking if THEY wanted to be vikings?

Seeing the majority of the class stand up, wanting to be vikings themselves, including Bissy, the dark haired Slytherin girl stayed right where she sat. Thank Merlin they had an option. She had been a viking for that one costume party and that was enough for the rest of her life.

Tayla sighed. Not having been able to answer the first question put her spirits down. "I wish he had called me, too," she thought. But no matter. Here was another chance! And though she wasn't as eager to be a viking as some of the other students, she decided to give an answer. "Ehwaz," she said confidently. "It translates to 'horse' and can also mean beast of burden, speed, energy, or power."

"Definitely no beard!" she added weakly.

Wiliam raised his hand. " I would love to be a Viking. William told the professor. "William raised his hand again." " The name of my Rune is is Othilo" William said to the professor. " The meaning of Othlio has to do with home and family" William explained to the professor.

Excited at the prospect of being a Viking, and hoping Professor Christiansen wouldn't give her a beard, and also really hoping she'd earn Ravenclaw some points, Ariana frantically searched her memory for any runes she could think of from last year. She thought, and thought, and suddenly DING! Her hand shot into the air and she blurted the first rune she could think of. It just happened to be a number.

"Um, isn't an Acromantula used for the number eight because of its eight eyes? Oh, and no beard please!" she added hastily.

Gavin really liked this professor. He was hard to understand, he had to admit, but he seemed so very cool. Now, he was talking into changing their clothing into Viking clothing. Cool! However, there were only one small problem: Gavin did not know any runes. That was his first class ever and he hadn't read ahead on this one... Well, he'll know to do it for the next time. In the meantime, he watched the students volunteer to have their clothes transifgured with a growing smile of amusement.

Aww poor Professor. The blonde Malfooy felt bad for him as Sierra teased him. He was extremely shy. Did she want to be a viking? JA! That would be so coool! Emma Malfoy immeadiately wished Sel was here because she would want a beard too. Now Ancient Runes... "Professor, Dagaz is a rune that means Dawn.. Can I be a viking without a beard please?" she asked, smiling widely. This would be fun.

Kyle was sitting in the back of the room he was thinking about runes when one popped into her head. Raising her hand she spoke, "Ah, Professor Hagalaz is the rune for the wrath of nature, be it destructive and possibly uncontrollable." She explained, taking a breath she added the final bit of the meaning as well "it also stands for the uncontrolled forces within not only weather but the unconscious - in a sense it is the tempering testing trial that leads to the ultimate goal of harmony." She smiled.

"And when its reversed it stands for - well, not exactly reversed seeing Hagalaz cannot actually be reversed it can only be put into opposition." Breathing. Long, long sentences. "it stands for loss of power, natural disaster, and catastrophe and stagnation." She blushed, "and I'd love to be a viking" she added with a smile. "without a beard" she added quickly.

Patroclus had too admit, he liked this guy!

Yes it was a very difficult task for anyone to come anywhere near the pedestal that the LionLad held Truebridge on, not all as Runes Professor, but just an awesome person, he could see himself warming to this guy!

Jumping from his seat that the mention of dressing up, the basically skipped his way to the front of the glass, "Professor," he began in his best attempt at Norwegian, "There is the rune of Perthro, a rune of the Second Aettir, it is the rune of Fate it is seen as a omen of things that have yet come to pass, thus why it was heavily used in gambling as a safegaurd to help cause luck, and winnings!" He hoped that was enough, cause he really badly wanted to be a viking.

"No Beard please...."

Was this guy serious? If they could name a rune and it's meaning, they would "get to" dress up as a viking? This "Professor" was completely ridiculous. This was The Study of Ancient Runes, not dress up time. Ellie raised her eyebrows and slumped back in her chair.

"One of them is Thurisaz. It means the forces of chaos and evil. Or a warning or temptation."

Helena just sat quietly in her seat, watching as professor Christiansen turned his clothes into... viking clothes. And then... she knew a lot of runes, but didn't raise her hand. Juuuust because she liked her uniform the way it looked.

Paying attention was good. For now.

Or... Ah, what could happen that bad?

The girl raised her hand quickly, but still in her seat. She's not going to move, to have her clothes turned into viking clothes. Nooooo no. "Isa. It means potential, patience, a challenge or a frustration."

She Wondered Whether It was Correct Because The Last Time She Read Her Ancient runes Book Was About A Week ago and She might have Mixed Othala Up With another Rune. "Hopefully It's Correct " She said Quietly To Herself So No One Else Could Hear Her .

So, what rune did she remember? Ah yeah, Algiz. Sh raised her hand and said, "Algiz. It signifies growth and development." She hoped that her answer was correct.

Theodore was deeply impressed by this foreign professor. His accent was brilliant and the Ravenclaw was eager to impress him. Even if it meant asking to be put into viking clothes and given a temporary beard. [s]It's not like he had the physical wherewithal to grow one himself, anyways.[s/] Raising his hand eagerly for what seemed like the first time in a long while, he piped up, a grin on his face, "Dagaz means 'day,' professor. It also means 'dawn.' However, it can also refer to more metaphorical things, such as 'clarity, hope, and happiness,' which are all represented by bright, clear days and dawns."

Rosemary raised a hand, "Eeoh which means "Yew" which is part of the Runic Alphabet.... And I'll stay as myself thank you...."

Noel grinned as he got up, remembering a certain rune that stood out to him the previous night when he was flipping through the text book. One that reminded him of his parents somewhat.

"Isaz," he stated. "Or basically ice."

His grin widened as he looked up at his teacher. A viking!

"Yes, please can I have a beard! A red one? And proper armour and helm and all? We get like fake viking helmets in Dublin, they have like viking tours for tourists you know, but I'm going to have a real one now!" he blabbered on, excitement bubbling over inside him. Then, he paused, his gaze suddenly growing just a tad suspicious.

...what? What?! Evan frowned a little, not catching that 'og'. He figured it meant or, because only that sounded close enough. Mind preoccupied with the 'og', he missed the second question and considered being a Viking for a moment. It could be fun, seeing the man's outfit...

"Fehu, Herr Christiansen, symbolises wealth," he said, hand in the air. Herr was pretty Germanic-Norweigian word, right?!
