"Oh. Apologies." He said transfiguring her clothes back.
"Good. Elder Futhark. Very Correct." He said, "Why has alphabet been called Elder Futhark? Anyone Know? Ja?" He asked. "And other than for writing, what has runes been using for?"
How cool were these outfits? Next time there was a costume ball or party, she was going as a viking. At the professor's question, Mia raised her hand in the air. "The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabet and is derived from the first six letters of the alphabet. Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raido and Kenaz." She paused to take a breath before continuing. "Tribes in Western Europe did not use runes for literary purposes but more the oral nature. This was because the letters were considered to be a gift from god and thereby sacred. The runes would then be used for ceremonial or ritual work. In more recent times, runes are used in divination in the form of casting or layouts."

"Well, Futhark came from the phoneme of the first six rune names." She started "and its elder because its...well, the elder version."
"Well, runes can be used for different things, like for protection or enhancement of spells." She explained, remembering last term's discussions about runes "Because they posses a magic of their own, a different kind of magic."

What was it named after? Good question...
Noel would have guessed it had something to do with a person, but "Elder" seemed to be a bit of a strange name for anyone. So maybe it had something to do with the letters? Hang on, how did the alphabet go again?
Flipping to the page in his textbook with the alphabet of runes all listed, he raised his hand.
"It's named after the first... hang on, what is it, six runes, I think. Yeah, six is right. And it would be used... well, still for writing but not only as texts, but also on pottery probably and other handmade stuff, maybe to show who made it or something? Like we have company names on products nowadays, sort of," he replied.
'The alphabet has been called so after the first six rune symbols: F, U, Th, A, R and K .And the word "Elder"..is just to...show how old the alphabet is.', Gwen said quickly.
After making a short break, she added: 'Runes have been used for divination and magic.' I guess...,she thought
An owl came in through the window. Tristan took the letter and read it over.
"Everyone who answered Magic and divination, is correct." He said and then added, "Class is over, I now give homework, ja? Ja." He turned to the board. "Transcribe your full name in Runes." He said. "Owl to me. One week. 10 point. Ja? Ja. God Dag." and with that he left the classroom.

Zara wrote in her parchment the homework. How was supposed to that? Oh well, a trip to the library may be healthy for her.
Was it time to leave already? Sure was fast. Hm. Zara stood up and began to gather her stuff, putting her inks and quills and parchment back in her bag. She was headed for the library, ready to begin her homework. She wouldn't waste one whole week and do it on the last day of submission. No, she wouldn't do that. Now was the best time to do it. It was her free period.

Rosemary took out a small journal and then jotted down her homework.

Class is... over? Ja? Already? Like... over over? Seriously?
But they barely started talking about the Elder Futhark runes.
...
Before Helena could think of anything, the man was already gone, so she simply stared at the board, thinking about the homework. HOW were they supposed to know how to transcribe their full name in runes?! And Helena had a LONG name! Uhhh.
She quickly stood up and left the classroom. Better start working on that homework.
And just like that, Tiberius blinked and class was over. Over?
Tossing jera back into his drawstring pouch, he slipped his rune bag into his messenger bag.
Frowning, he made note of the homework, before also putting his parchment and quills away. The class hadn't been a disaster, but Tiberius would have hardly called it an education.
Standing, he looked around as he put his bag over his shoulder, and headed for the door. "Thank you, Professor," he said as he passed by.
It was only polite.

Class was over already? Just like that? She took out her notebook and jotted down the homework, although she wasn't sure that she could get it done. What did she know about trancribing her name in Runes? She definitely had to visit the library soon. Sigh. She kept her book and the quill in her bag, before she stood up. She slung her bag over her shoulder and started walking out the door.
Charlie pulled out her diary and wrote in it:
For Monday- Runes- Translate full name
She shoved it back in her bag and went to leave the classroom. It had been pretty good and she thought she would quite enjoy it. She walked towards the door and said "Bye Professor" and exited.

Kyle looked up to the Professor, smiling she spoke her cheeks still as red as two vine ripe tomatoes. "Thanks for an interesting class Professor" she smiled nervously. Class was already over?

Kimalia nodded quickly jotting down in her journal the assignment. "Translating my name into Runes.." she shook her head in a slight annoyance that whilst she loved her name would prove to be challenging to translate all the letters. After seeing majority of the class disperse she assumed it was okay to leave.
"Good day to you too, Professor." She did a small curtsy on her way out to the library.

Nessie took down the notes. She heard the Proffessor saying the word dag and giggled. She knew exactly what it meant as at home (South Africa) she learned Afrikaans at the muggle school she went to, Afrikaans was a language which was Dutch mixed with other languages, which Ness didn't remember. "Well Goed Dag Proffessor!" said Nessie giggling again. She sure didn't miss Afrikaans she hated learning for it.

Selina sat in her seat completely caught off guard. What. Had. Just. Happened? She was a viking and had her school infiltrated by Ministry scum and now he was leaving? This had to be a joke. She was going to owl her mother as soon as she got back to the Common Room. Maybe there were some whispers hanging about around the Ministry as to what was happening. Because they weren't telling the people. And when the people became upset with the government history had always shown... a revolution.
She took down the homework and got up to leave. She turned back around and jotted down the new Professors name. She was going to get to the bottom of this.
Could have I been more of an idiot today, vikings, not pirates, whatever. Class is over. There is always the homework and next lesson to do redeem yourself. With those thoughts Chloe wrote down the homework, gathered her things and was off.

Twirling her quill in her hand, the Slytherin stared at the owl that flew in, before her attention moved to the Professor and the letter. Hmm, what did it saaaaaay?!
Apparently something important since class was now over. Short class. Not that she was complaining of course. If they went on any longer, she was sure her brain was going to explode from trying to understand what he was saying with his accent. Like the homework. She almost missed what he told them to do for homework.
Looking down to her notebook, and realizing that she hadn't opened it once during the whole lesson, Evelyn sighed before scribbling the homework on a new page, and packing everything up in her bag before standing up and leaving. Interesting lesson.
Evan blinked at the owl that came in. He watched with interest as Herr read the letter, and then dismissed the class. Yeah, OK--no, what?! Class was dismissed? But they had barely begun and answered only a few questions! Evan frowned, though didn't complain at all--class dismissed early meant he could get some free time. "Gut daag," he tried to mimick him, under his breath, barely catching what he said for the HW. Someone would surely write it down in common room...
Looking over Bissy, he walked out while saying "C'mon now, let's get out." Yeah, the air was still fantastic and they couldn't miss it.
curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog
But...wait. WHAT? He hadn't told them how long the pretty beards would last! BOOOO. Now Alex would be on edge all day, waiting for the moment when his beard just disappeared out of thin air. Sigh. It had been fun while it lasted.
And at least they had easy homework...although Alex had a LONGGGG name. Oh well, it'd be 10 easy points, and his grades would be off to a FANTASTIC start unlike last year. Yayyy!
Packing up his things, he slung his bag over his shoulder and exited the classroom.

OVER?
This was absolutely great. Jamie stumbled up from his chair as quickly as possible and gave a wave to Professor Christiansen, "God Dag, dude!" That felt nessecary at the time. The boy left quickly and subtly. THANK MERLIN. Jamie hated Ancient Runes.

Over so soon?
Savannah tried not too look to disappointed. Ancient Runes was fun. Savvy's favorite class so far. I mean, who wouldn't like pretty writings like Runes? And owl the homework to him? Owl? Couldn't we just turn it in the next class? It would take more work!
Savannah gathered all her things and said good bye to the professor and left the room.

Simon looked at the Professor, he couldn't believe that the lesson was over so soon, did this Professor not know that he needed to study so that he could do well in life later on, he had no idea why this Professor wouldn't teach them more, well at least he had given them homework to do so he could at least get that done.

Olivia blinked. That had been a sudden ending to the class. She scribbled her homework next to her notes and was glad she'd thought to copy the rune chart that Professor Christiansen had put up on the board. She gathered her books and left the room, passing Christiansen on the way. "Thank you, professor. Have a good day," she said with a smile.

Bissy was looking around to get a glimpse of Evelyn, her eyes squinted. Looking at the girl, she saw an owl swirling into the classroom. The blonde girl watched the professor open the letter and read it. She got shocked when she heard the class was dismissed. It was the shortest lesson she had ever attended. "Good day, Professor" she said, writing down the homework.
Then, she raised her head towards Evan and said: "OK. I'm coming." She put the quill and the parchment into her bag and flocked after the Prefect. Throwing a last glance at Evelyn, she said smiling: "Let's go, Cartwright!"
