Simon looked at the Professor, why were there so many new ones this term, he smiled as he replied to the Professor question. "It's called the Alphabet." Simon smiled, he wasn't being cheeky or anything he was just telling the truth and he had no idea what the offical name was but technically it was called the Alphabet even if it wasn't it's offical name.

Feeling pleased with her new Viking appearance, she looked around to other fellow students. They were all looking odd in those clothes. Okay, the name of the alphabet? She remembered its name in English as she had read the first section of the book but she tried what its name was in the Norwegian language. Then, she said: "Its name is den eldre Futharken, Professor Christiansen" with a triumphant expression on her face.

Arabella-Marie noted down what her fellow classmates were saying and thought no need to answer as the question had already been answered

steflegan 05-10-2011 06:22 PM

Melina raised her hand. "I believe it's simply called the Runic Alphabet...unless you were looking for a different answer." Hopefully she didn't sound as dumb as she felt her answer was.

Soon, Zara noticed that the costume for girls was actually kinda awesome. RAWR. Why didn't she grab the chance when she had the opportunity? Well, first she thought the girls' costume was like the guys'. This was something she wasn't expecting. Oh well.

Then she watched as Professor Christiansen drew the Elder Futhark on the board. Zara was glad that her homeschool paid off. Miss Jenkins, her homeschool teacher, had definitely taught her this for a whole week! Zara practically memorized every alphabet.

As fast as she can, Zara's hand immediately shot up to the air. She wanted to recite so badly. After raising her hand she said, "Professor, that's the Elder Futhark. It's the oldest kind of runic alphabet which was used by those tribes in Germany before."

Yup, that was it. Zara remembered it by heart. Her teacher wouldn't let her eat if she didn't have it memorized. Zara picked up her quill and continued writing notes on the parchment in a neat handwriting. She didn't have to look up at the board and copy them, she just kept on writing the Elder Futhark alphabet on her parchment since they were all stored in her head and heart.

'The Runic Alphabet, called Futhark after the first six letters.' Ariadne replied, remembering having read that somewhere, probably in her mother's bookshop.

Gwen heard the professor asking how the alphabet was called. I know it...I know I know it..., she thought....and after a while she said 'the Elder Futhark'. Finally, she remembered.

OOOOHHHHH!

Look at her!

She was a viking. Peyton beamed when her robes were transformed, but wait, couldn't she have HUGE horns too? Eh, maybe some other time, the professor began to speak again.

Peyton squinted her eyes and knew what the alphabet was called, but couldn't remember the name. What was it...

Older footrub?

No.

It sounded close, though. WAIT! It was coming to her...AH! She has remembered. Her hand shot up into the air. "It's Elder Futhark," she answered. Peyton wasn't about to explain anything more because his question was simply to say the name of the alphabet.

"What is this Alphabet called?" He asked, his accent heavy.

Gavin knew the answer to that one! He raised his hand and said "Futhark" proud that he finally knew one.

Once he had answered, he quickly copied the content of the blackboard to his journal. It wouldn't do not to have them once it was time for revision.

"What is this Alphabet called?" He asked, his accent heavy.

Yes everyone had already said The Elder Futhark alphabet. Squirming she ran her hand through her hair. "Its the Elder Futhark Alphabet it also is refereed to as the Elder Elder Fuþark, or the Old Futhark alphabet" she smiled. "It was used commonly by Germanic tribes in northwest Germany" she pushed her hair behind her ear and smiled nervously.

Rawr. She was totally a female viking..
Not for the first time, Ella put down her hand. Sure, she knew this stuff but like in every other class the question had been answered. A lot. So intead, Ella began taking ntes, her tounge sticking out of the side of her mouth as she concentrated on trying to keep her writing kind of neat.. it was a difficult task.

Nika nodded hesitantly. WAIT. Shave her? He was going to shave her? "Is there any other way we can 'shave' the beard other than shaving it? Maybe by magic or something?" No shaving. Not for Nika.

She jumped when she noticed her clothes were different and she felt something furry on her chin. Maybe a stray cat? NO. A beard! "YAY!" She jumped up and down waving her hands in the air. "I have a beard!!" Then she quickly looked over at her professor and sat down. She doesn't need another angry professor with a chainsaw...

"Isn't just called 'the' Alphabet?" Nika said as she looked at the strange symbols on the board.

awwwww, man, I missed the Viking-making

Tiberius sat in the back of the room as students paraded up to be turned into a viking. He'd held out the tiniest bit of hope that even if the Runes professor was Ministry appointed that it might be Lupa.

He slipped his hand into his bag and fingered the runes that she had helped him to make. Pulling one out, he turned it between his fingers. Jera

Looking up at the next question, he raised the hand not holding the rune. "It's the Elder Futhark, sir. Also called the Older Futhark and the Old Futhark."

Maddox wanted to dance with glee as she looked down at her new Viking garb, and her hand reached up to stroke her very manly and very Viking beard that reached down to the middle of her chest. She didn't bother answering the question as everyone else had already done that, but she sat very pleased with herself Viking self.

"You correct too." He said transfiguing her into a blonde lady viking.

Kurumi felt something wrap itself around her, similar to a warm blanket and a slight tickle. She closed her eyes for a moment until the strange sensation had ceased, and slowly opened them.

She...She didn't feel any different and she reached for her hair to fiddle with when she noticed that it wasn't its usual ebony anymore.

o______0

She was blonde?!

She flew back to her desk and, as she did, stumbled on the suddenly longer skirt she was wearing and nearly wasn't able to catch herself on the desk due to her arms getting tangled up in her new cloak. Regaining her composure, she sat down and felt the top of her head...where there appeared to be horns.

Merlin help her...

"Those are the Elder Futhark," Kurumi said raising her hand. It felt good to have a distraction from her new horns and blonde hair. "It is the oldest form of runic alphabet. The Younger Futhark is a reduced version of them."

Ooooh! She had a beard! Isobel stroked it with a serious expression on her face. She wished she had glasses to she could peer over the top of them and look all creepy-like.

The name of the alphabet? She knew this one! Isobel knew it from last year. It was on the tip of her tongue...what was it?! Aha; her hand shot in to the air. "Futhark," she said. No..."Elder Futhark...alphabet." She decided it was necessary to add the 'alphabet' part.

Salander looked down at his robes as it transforms into Viking garb, feeling the weight of the helmet rest solidly on his head. "Ohhhyeaaahhh!" he chuckled as he checked himself out. His head shifted back to the Professor as he was asked about the Mighty Thor. The Slytherin lad beamed "You bet!" Who wouldnt want to have a chance to be the God of Thunder?

He suddenly felt something massive materialize in his hand, dropping slightly from the unexpected weight. His eyes went large as he realized what he was grasping "Its Mjolnir." he chuckled dumbfounded, then started to swing the heavy hammer around. Yeah this is one happy Viking!

Oh next question, the class started blurting out the answer and he shrugged in agreement "Yeah, Elder Fart-- errrr, Futhark. Elder Futhark, yeah."

BAM.

Lola was a female viking, a bearded female viking.

Instantly, she raised her head up in the air like an entirely new person. "HALLO," she spoke with an attempt on a Norwegian accent, trying to imitate the man's accents. Accents accents, she hoped she was spot on. The girl needed a name. She was not Lola anymore. "Call me Lolaf," she stated, trying to get a LOOOOOT of her words from her throat. "I keep cloth and beard... ja???"

Her voice was deep. And manly. It was the beard, I tell you.

When the man asked another question, Lolaf quickly flipped her textbook again. "The alphabet of that is the Eldar FuthARK."

The manliness.

Theodore made his way back to his desk in full viking regalia, his hat pressing his curls down and slightly obscuring his vision. Grabbing one of the horns, he adjusted it, trying to make it more comfortable, but failed. Getting frustrated, he swiped it from his head and set it down on the desk as he went to take notes. Grabbing his quill and dipping it into the ink, he scribbled down the alphabet shown to them by the professor and stroked his curly beard with the other hand.

"Profetthor?" He spluttered, his beard hair interfering with his speech and tickling his chin all the while. Tossing down his quill, he quickly removed the hair from his mouth as he began to talk once more. "It's known as the Elder Futhark alphabet."

"What is this Alphabet called?" He asked, his accent heavy.

Vincent laughed at the various vikings now occupying the room. Large me, and women, were tromping around with bears and heavy Norse accents. He smiled then returned to the lesson once again.
Oh, runes. How I despise you.
"Isn't that the uh... Futhark? The Elder Futhark I think?"

Uncle Moose 05-10-2011 11:54 PM

Oakey sat quietly this time at his desk. He didn't know a thing about This alphabet. He was only able to have himself changed into a viking because he found a symbol in his textbook. He would look through his book again for the answer but his hair was getting in his way. When he gets back to the common room he'll need to put it into a ponytail.

"Sweeet!"

Patroclus was stocked, his plain old boring school uniform had given way to an absolutely awesome viking outfit, in which he instantly felt strong, and powerful, also he had to admit it seemed to make his recollection of Norwegian better, "Tussen takk!" he chirped as he turned on his hell and returned to his desk.

As the runes appeared on the board, the VikingLionLad raised his hand and answered Professor Christiansen's question, "Sir the alphabet of runes is known as the Elder Futhark alphabet!"

PadfootAndTheWolf 05-11-2011 12:01 AM

Riley sat there, completely dumb-founded. What on earth was the man going on about?! He could not understand a word he was talking about. Was the man even English? Was he qualified to teach in an English school?!

O______o

The Gryffindor just sat there and stared after the Professor asked them something that sounded alot like 'I gotta a bat.' What was he going to do with IT?! But then he pointed to the Runic Alphabet and understood what he was talking about. "Oh, that's the Elder Futhark, the Runic Alphabet." Geez take some speech classes.

iamthechosenone 05-11-2011 12:09 AM

Elle was sitting at her desk, when she heard the Norwegian man begin to speak. When she had entered the class room, she didn't say anything to anyone. She was more focused on finding a seat than anything else. Which is kinda sad, she thought to herself.

She had read quite a bit of the book, but didn't want to raise her hand for fear of getting the answer wrong. So she looked around the class now, trying to find a familiar face, that way next time she could sit next to them. She saw Zara, but she was with a few other friends. Oh, well Elle thought. We're homework buddies, so we'll have plenty of time to talk about class.
